Been tested on each major revision that's relevant here, but I'm sure there
are still bugs waiting to be ironed out.
This is a *very* invasive change.
There's a couple of pieces left that I don't like much (eg. other engines
using fifo_priv for the channel count), but that's an artefact of there
being a master channel list still. This is changing, slowly.

All the places this stuff is actually needed tends to be chipset-specific
anyway, so we're able to just inline the register bashing instead.
The parts of the common code that still directly touch PFIFO temporarily
have conditionals, these will be removed in subsequent commits that will
refactor the fifo modules into engine modules like graph/mpeg etc.

Now have a somewhat simpler semaphore sync implementation for nv17:nv84,
and a switched to using semaphores as fences on nv84+ and making use of
the hardware's >= acquire operation.

Just a cleanup more or less, and to remove the need for special handling of
software objects.
This removes a heap of documentation on dma/graph object formats. The info
is very out of date with our current understanding, and is far better
documented in rnndb in envytools git.

This shouldn't be necessary, I believe this is just a bit of missed debug
code that got left over somehow.
Causes flips to be always synced to vblank, regardless of swap interval,
which we don't want..

Wait loop can be interrupted by signal, so if signals are raised
periodically (e.g. SIGALRM) this loop may never finish. Use
emission time as a base for fence timeout.

Not entirely convinced 0x004018 transitions are correct yet, but, it's
an improvement.
The 750MHz value comes from fiddling with the binary driver + coolbits on
two different DDR3 NVA8 chipsets (T510 NVS3100M, and NVS300), not a clue
where this number comes from.

Tested on NVS300 by hacking up perflvl 1 to require PLL mode, and switching
between perflvl 3 and 1.

The binary driver appears to do various bits and pieces of the memory
clock frequency change at different times, depending on the particular
transition that's occuring. I've attempted to replicate this here
for div->pll, pll->div and div->div transitions.
With some additional (patches upcoming) magic regs being bashed, this
allows me to correctly transition between all 3 perflvls on NVS300.
pll->pll transitions will *not* work correctly at the moment, pending
me tricking the binary driver into doing one and seeing how to correctly
handle it.
This patch also handles (hopefully) 0x1110e0, which appears to need
changing depending on whether in PLL or divider mode.. Maybe. We'll
see.

realistically, nobody is using them anymore. They were mostly limited
to 386-sx 16MHz CPU and some 486 class machines and never more than
64MB of RAM. Even the enthusiast hobbyist community seems to have

various websites dedicated to the relatively short lived hardware.
So lets remove the support relating to CONFIG_MCA. There is no point
carrying this forward, wasting cycles doing routine maintenance on it;

Let's see if anybody screams. It generally has compiled, and James
Bottomley pointed out that there was a MCA extension from NCR that
allowed for up to 4GB of memory and PPro-class machines. So in *theory*
there may be users out there.
But even James (technically listed as a maintainer) doesn't actually
have a system, and while Alan Cox claims to have a machine in his cellar
that he offered to anybody who wants to take it off his hands, he didn't
argue for keeping MCA support either.
So we could bring it back. But somebody had better speak up and talk
about how they have actually been using said MCA hardware with modern
kernels for us to do that. And David already took the patch to delete
all the networking driver code (commit a5e371f61a: "drivers/net:
delete all code/drivers depending on CONFIG_MCA").

"The FireWire SBP-2 Target is a driver for using an IEEE-1394
connection as a SCSI transport. This module uses the SCSI Target
framework to expose LUNs to other machines attached to a FireWire bus,
in effect acting as a FireWire hard disk similar to FireWire Target

sbp-target to access fw_request fabric speed needed for mgt_agent
TCODE_WRITE_BLOCK_REQUEST ops, and exporting fw_card kref logic used
when creating/destroying active session references to individual

got broken, this change has to be checked.

the resume of the hardware until the first use, now waking up immediately
at resume. This is for buggy BIOS.
For ASoC, dynamic PCM support and the improved support for digital links
between off-SoC devices are major framework changes.

While rebasing my "watchdog_dev: Let the driver update the timeout field on
set_timeout success" patch (before I noticed it was already picked up by Wim),
I noticed that the s3c2410_wdt driver may not always have a 1 second
resolution, this patch changes s3c2410wdt_set_heartbeat to update the
timeout to the actually achieved timeout.

i6300esb is on of the watchdogs QEMU can emulate. It is also available
when emulating ARM. The driver works without problems and is quite
useful to test userspace dealing with /dev/watchdog.

The SCH311x chip contains 2 watchdogs. One is the watchdog programmable
by the runtime register at address 0x65-0x68, the other is the watchdog
inside the power on reset generator. This second watchdog has a fixed
timeout value of ~1.6 seconds and is configurable only by the RESGEN
register.
The BIOS normally takes care of the RESGEN watchdog and disables it (at
least) before the OS is booted.
Unfortunately the sch311x_wdt driver clears bit 0 of the RESGEN register
which has the effect that at the latest 1.6 seconds later, a POR is
triggered.
The attached patch fixes this problem by completely removing any
reference to the RESGEN watchdog from the sch311x_wdt driver.

Combine request_region and ioremap into devm_request_and_ioremap. This has
the effect of fixing a missing iounmap on the failure of clk_get.
This also introduces a call to clk_put and clears the vbus_clk variable in
the case of failure or device removal.

Note that we have squat i-g-t testcoverage for any of the lifetime and
access rules dma_buf/prime support brings along. And there are quite a
few intricate situations here.
Also note that the integration with the existing code is a bit
hackish, especially around get_gtt_pages and put_gtt_pages. It imo
would be easier with the prep code from Chris Wilson's unbound series,
but that is for 3.6.
Also note that I didn't bother to put the new prepare/finish gtt hooks
to good use by moving the dma_buf_map/unmap_attachment calls in there
(like we've originally planned for).
Last but not least this patch is only compile-tested, but I've changed
very little compared to Dave Airlie's version. So there's a decent
chance v2 on drm-next works as well as v1 on 3.4-rc.
v3: Right when I've hit sent I've noticed that I've screwed up one
obj->sg_list (for dmar support) and obj->sg_table (for prime support)
disdinction. We should be able to merge these 2 paths, but that's
material for another patch.

This adds the ability for ttm common code to take an SG table
and use it as the backing for a slave TTM object.
The drivers can then populate their GTT tables using the SG object.

Remove the parsing of device node information for sub devices
from core file.
The sub devices will parse the information as per the sub-devices
specific information.

Save the allocated memory to store the parsed device node information
to the global device structure so that sub devices can directly use this
pointer.
In this way, the sub devices does not require to re-allocate the
memory for storing the sub-devices specific device node information.

Netfront driver can be also useful in dom0, eg when all NICs are assigned to
some domU (aka driver domain). Then using netback in domU and netfront in dom0
is the only way to get network access in dom0.

While we generally attempt to get rid of board specific files and replace
them with device tree based descriptions, a lot of platforms have not
come that far:
In shmobile, we add two new board files because their recently started
effort to add DT support has not proceeded enough to use it for all of
the important hardware.
In Kirkwood, we are adding support for new boards with a combination of
DT and board file contents in multiple cases.
pxa/mmp and imx are extending support for existing board files but not
adding new ones.

A user has several systems with a couple of models of flash disks with IDE
connectors. These disks work fine in 2.6.18-ish kernels but corrupt data on
new kernels.
The difference appears to be with the default I/O method used by the IDE
controller driver between the kernels. In the older kernels, the
configuration is very conservative and the driver stays in PIO mode. With
new kernels, the ata driver (pata_serverworks) attempts to use UDMA/66
which the drive claims to support. This mode, however, does not appear to
work in DMA mode. The drive does work correctly and no corruption is
seen if the kernel parameter "libata.force=5:pio0,6:pio0" is used to force
the driver to use PIO instead of DMA mode.
Blacklist these drives. Unfortunately the model name of the drive is very
generic, " 2GB ATA Flash Disk", but the revision is specific, "ADMA428M".

With this, five platforms are moving to the relatively new pinctrl
subsystem for their pin management, replacing the older soc specific
in-kernel interfaces with common code.
There is quite a bit of net addition of code for each platform being
added to the pinctrl subsystem. but the payback comes later when adding
new boards can be done by only providing new device trees instead.

The spear3xx, lpc32xx, shmobile and mmp platforms are joining the game of
booting using device trees, which is a great step forward for them. at91
and spear have pretty much completed this process with a huge amount of
work being put into at91. The other platforms are continuing the process.
We finally start to see the payback on this investment, as new machines
are getting supported purely by adding a .dts source file that can be
completely independent of the kernel source.

At present reserving the IRLs in the IRQ bitmap in addition to the
dropping of the legacy IRQ pre-allocation prevent IRL IRQs from being
allocated for the x3proto board.
The only reason to permit reservations was to lock down possible hardware
vectors prior to dynamic IRQ scanning, but this doesn't matter much given
that the hardware controller configuration is sorted before we get around
to doing any dynamic IRQ allocation anyways. Beyond that, all of the
tables are __init annotated, so quite a bit more work would need to be
done to support reconfiguring things like IRL controllers on the fly,
much more than would ever make it worth the hassle.

The omapdrm driver uses this for setting per-overlay rotation. It
is likely also useful for setting YUV->RGB colorspace conversion
matrix, etc.

A bitmask property is similar to an enum. The enum value is a bit
position (0-63), and valid property values consist of a mask of
zero or more of (1 << enum_val[n]).

A race condition exists in drm_vblank_cleanup() if the vblank disable
timer callback runs after freeing the memory that its callback function
tries to access. Fix this by deleting the timer synchronously.

Poulsbo needs a physical address in the cursor base register. We allocate a
stolen memory buffer and copy the cursor image provided by userspace into it.
When/If we get our own userspace driver we can map this stolen memory directly.
The patch also adds a mark in chip ops so we can identify devices that has this
requirement.

Some devices don't have a panel connected to LVDS and thus will never power up.
This patch checks the power sequence progress bits in PP_STATUS to prevent an
endless loop on such devices.

Now that bitmaps can grow and shrink it is best if we record
how much space is available. This means that when
we reduce the size of the bitmap we won't "lose" the space
for late when we might want to increase the size of the bitmap
again.

When a reshape which reduced the number of devices finishes
we must remove the extra devices.
So ensure that raid10_remove_disk won't try to keep them, and
have raid10_finish_reshape clear the 'in_sync' flag. Then
remove_and_add_spares will be able to remove them.

After a reshape which reduced the number of devices we need
to disconnect the extra devices.
The code for this doesn't currently handle 'replacement' devices.
It is very unlikely that such devices will be present, but it is
safest to handle them anyway.
So simplify the handling. Just clear In_sync and leave it
to remove_and_add_spaces (which will be called soon) to do
the real works.

Check the return of mddev_find(), since it may fail due to out of
memeory or out of usable minor number.
The reason I chose -ENODEV instead of -ENOMEM or something else is
md_alloc() function chose that ;)

A RAID1 device does not necessarily need a fullsync if the bitmap can be used instead.
Similar to commit d6b212f4b1 in raid5.c, if a raid1
device can be brought back (i.e. from a transient failure) it shouldn't need a
complete resync. Provided the bitmap is not to old, it will have recorded the areas
of the disk that need recovery.

When encountering an error while reading the superblock, call md_error.
We are currently setting the 'Faulty' bit on one of the array devices when an
error is encountered while reading the superblock of a dm-raid array. We should
be calling md_error(), as it handles the error more completely.

Missing dm-raid devices should be recorded in the superblock
When specifying the devices that compose a DM RAID array, it is possible to denote
failed or missing devices with '-'s. When this occurs, we must record this in the
superblock. We do this by checking if the array position's data device is missing
and then forcing MD to record the superblock by setting 'MD_CHANGE_DEVS' in
'raid_resume'. If we do not cause the superblock to be rewritten by the resume
function, it is possible for a stale superblock to be written by an out-going
in-active table (during 'raid_dtr').
