dbf6811abb Bluetooth: Limit duration of Remote Name Resolve
When doing remote name request, we cannot scan. In the normal case it's
OK since we can expect it to finish within a short amount of time.
However, there is a possibility to scan lots of devices that
(1) requires Remote Name Resolve
(2) is unresponsive to Remote Name Resolve
When this happens, we are stuck to do Remote Name Resolve until all is
done before continue scanning.

This patch adds a time limit to stop us spending too long on remote
name request.

0f281a5e5b Bluetooth: Ignore HCI_ERROR_CANCELLED_BY_HOST on adv set terminated event
This event is received when the controller stops advertising,
specifically for these three reasons:
(a) Connection is successfully created (success).
(b) Timeout is reached (error).
(c) Number of advertising events is reached (error).
(*) This event is NOT generated when the host stops the advertisement.
Refer to the BT spec ver 5.3 vol 4 part E sec 7.7.65.18. Note that the
section was revised from BT spec ver 5.0 vol 2 part E sec 7.7.65.18
which was ambiguous about (*).

Some chips (e.g. RTL8822CE) send this event when the host stops the
advertisement with status = HCI_ERROR_CANCELLED_BY_HOST (due to (*)
above). This is treated as an error and the advertisement will be
removed and userspace will be informed via MGMT event.

On suspend, we are supposed to temporarily disable advertisements,
and continue advertising on resume. However, due to the behavior
above, the advertisements are removed instead.

This patch returns early if HCI_ERROR_CANCELLED_BY_HOST is received.

Btmon snippet of the unexpected behavior:

Although only btusb uses air_mode, and he only handles HCI_NOTIFY_ENABLE_SCO_CVSD
and HCI_NOTIFY_ENABLE_SCO_TRANSP, there is still a very small chance that
ev->air_mode is not equal to 0x2 and 0x3, but notify_evt is initialized to
HCI_NOTIFY_ENABLE_SCO_CVSD or HCI_NOTIFY_ENABLE_SCO_TRANSP. the context is
maybe not correct.

Let us directly use the required function instead of re-initializing it,
so as to restore the original logic and make the code more correct.

3a56ef719f Bluetooth: stop proccessing malicious adv data
Syzbot reported slab-out-of-bounds read in hci_le_adv_report_evt(). The
problem was in missing validaion check.

We should check if data is not malicious and we can read next data block.
If we won't check ptr validness, code can read a way beyond skb->end and
it can cause problems, of course.

258f56d11b Bluetooth: aosp: Support AOSP Bluetooth Quality Report
This patch adds the support of the AOSP Bluetooth Quality Report
(BQR) events.

Multiple vendors have supported the AOSP Bluetooth Quality Report.
When a Bluetooth controller supports the capability, it can enable
the aosp capability through hci_set_aosp_capable. Then hci_core will
set up the hdev->aosp_set_quality_report callback through aosp_do_open
if the controller responds to support the quality report capability.

Note that Intel also supports a distinct telemetry quality report
specification. Intel sets up the hdev->set_quality_report callback
in the btusb driver module.

6a98e3836f Bluetooth: Add helper for serialized HCI command execution
The usage of __hci_cmd_sync() within the hdev->setup() callback allows for
a nice and simple serialized execution of HCI commands. More importantly
it allows for result processing before issueing the next command.

With the current usage of hci_req_run() it is possible to batch up
commands and execute them, but it is impossible to react to their
results or errors.

This is an attempt to generalize the hdev->setup() handling and provide
a simple way of running multiple HCI commands from a single function
context.

There are multiple struct work that are decdicated to certain tasks
already used right now. It is add a lot of bloat to hci_dev struct and
extra handling code. So it might be possible to put all of these behind
a common HCI command infrastructure and just execute the HCI commands
from the same work context in a serialized fashion.

For example updating the white list and resolving list can be done now
without having to know the list size ahead of time. Also preparing for
suspend or resume shouldn't require a state machine anymore. There are
other tasks that should be simplified as well.

2128939fe2 Bluetooth: Fix removing adv when processing cmd complete
If we remove one instance of adv using Set Extended Adv Enable, there
is a possibility of issue occurs when processing the Command Complete
event. Especially, the adv_info might not be found since we already
remove it in hci_req_clear_adv_instance() -> hci_remove_adv_instance().
If that's the case, we will mistakenly proceed to remove all adv
instances instead of just one single instance.

This patch fixes the issue by checking the content of the HCI command
instead of checking whether the adv_info is found.

08c181f052 bluetooth: use eth_hw_addr_set()
Commit 406f42fa0d ("net-next: When a bond have a massive amount
of VLANs...") introduced a rbtree for faster Ethernet address look
up. To maintain netdev->dev_addr in this tree we need to make all
the writes to it go through appropriate helpers.

Convert bluetooth from memcpy(... ETH_ADDR) to eth_hw_addr_set():

hci_alloc_dev() do not init the device's flag. And hci_free_dev()
using put_device() to free the memory allocated for this device,
but it calls just put_device(dev) only in case of HCI_UNREGISTER
flag is set, So any error handing before hci_register_dev() success
will cause memory leak.

To avoid this behaviour we can using kfree() to release dev before
hci_register_dev() success.

ce81843be2 Bluetooth: Fix Advertisement Monitor Suspend/Resume
During system suspend, advertisement monitoring is disabled by setting
the HCI_VS_MSFT_LE_Set_Advertisement_Filter_Enable to False. This
disables the monitoring during suspend, however, if the controller is
monitoring a device, it sends HCI_VS_MSFT_LE_Monitor_Device_Event to
indicate that the monitoring has been stopped for that particular
device. This event may occur after suspend depending on the
low_threshold_timeout and peer device advertisement frequency, which
causes early wake up.

Right way to disable the monitoring for suspend is by removing all the
monitors before suspend and re-monitor after resume to ensure no events
are received during suspend. This patch fixes this suspend/resume issue.

Following tests are performed:
- Add monitors before suspend and make sure DeviceFound gets triggered
- Suspend the system and verify that all monitors are removed by kernel
  but not Released by bluetoothd
- Wake up and verify that all monitors are added again and DeviceFound
  gets triggered

This splits the msft_do_{open/close} to msft_do_{open/close} and

This helps bluetoothd to report correct 'supported features' of the
controller to the D-Bus clients event if the controller is off. It also
re-reads the MSFT info upon every msft_do_open().

The following test steps were performed.
1. Boot the test device and verify the MSFT support debug log in syslog.
2. Power off the controller and read the 'supported features', power on
   and read again.
3. Restart the bluetoothd and verify the 'supported features' value.

49d8a56064 Bluetooth: fix init and cleanup of sco_conn.timeout_work
Before freeing struct sco_conn, all delayed timeout work should be
cancelled. Otherwise, sco_sock_timeout could potentially use the
sco_conn after it has been freed.

Additionally, sco_conn.timeout_work should be initialized when the
connection is allocated, not when the channel is added. This is
because an sco_conn can create channels with multiple sockets over its
lifetime, which happens if sockets are released but the connection
isn't deleted.

f4712fa993 Bluetooth: call sock_hold earlier in sco_conn_del
In sco_conn_del, conn->sk is read while holding on to the
sco_conn.lock to avoid races with a socket that could be released
concurrently.

However, in between unlocking sco_conn.lock and calling sock_hold,
it's possible for the socket to be freed, which would cause a
use-after-free write when sock_hold is finally called.

To fix this, the reference count of the socket should be increased
while the sco_conn.lock is still held.

In our case, there are two Thread A and B:

Context: Thread A: Context: Thread B:

l2cap_chan_timeout()            __se_sys_shutdown()
  l2cap_chan_close()              l2cap_sock_shutdown()
    l2cap_chan_del()                l2cap_chan_close()
      l2cap_sock_teardown_cb()        l2cap_sock_teardown_cb()

Once l2cap_sock_teardown_cb() excuted, this sock will be marked as SOCK_ZAPPED,
and can be treated as killable in l2cap_sock_kill() if sock_orphan() has
excuted, at this time we close sock through sock_close() which end to call
l2cap_sock_kill() like Thread C:

Context: Thread C:

sock_close()
  l2cap_sock_release()
    sock_orphan()
    l2cap_sock_kill()  #free sock if refcnt is 1

If C completed, Once A or B reaches l2cap_sock_teardown_cb() again,
use-after-free happened.

We should set chan->data to NULL if sock is destructed, for telling teardown
operation is not allowed in l2cap_sock_teardown_cb(), and also we should
avoid killing an already killed socket in l2cap_sock_close_cb().

The sco_send_frame() also takes lock_sock() during memcpy_from_msg()

Just like the similar fix for hci_sock_sendmsg() in commit

61969ef867 Bluetooth: Fix return value in hci_dev_do_close()
hci_error_reset() return without calling hci_dev_do_open() when
hci_dev_do_close() return error value which is not 0.

Also, hci_dev_close() return hci_dev_do_close() function's return
value.

But, hci_dev_do_close() return always 0 even if hdev->shutdown
return error value. So, fix hci_dev_do_close() to save and return
the return value of the hdev->shutdown when it is called.

f41a4b2b5e Bluetooth: add timeout sanity check to hci_inquiry
Syzbot hit "task hung" bug in hci_req_sync(). The problem was in
unreasonable huge inquiry timeout passed from userspace.
Fix it by adding sanity check for timeout value to hci_inquiry().

Since hci_inquiry() is the only user of hci_req_sync() with user
controlled timeout value, it makes sense to check timeout value in
hci_inquiry() and don't touch hci_req_sync().

After gaining __alloc_size hints, GCC thinks it can reach a memcpy()

ecb71f2566 Bluetooth: Fix race condition in handling NOP command
For NOP command, need to cancel work scheduled on cmd_timer,
on receiving command status or commmand complete event.

Below use case might lead to race condition multiple when NOP
commands are queued sequentially:

hci_cmd_work() {
   if (atomic_read(&hdev->cmd_cnt) {
            .
            .
            .
      atomic_dec(&hdev->cmd_cnt);
      hci_send_frame(hdev,...);
      schedule_delayed_work(&hdev->cmd_timer,...);
   }
}

On receiving event for first NOP, the work scheduled on hdev->cmd_timer
is not cancelled and second NOP is dequeued and sent to controller.

While waiting for an event for second NOP command, work scheduled on
cmd_timer for the first NOP can get scheduled, resulting in sending third
NOP command (sending back to back NOP commands). This might
cause issues at controller side (like memory overrun, controller going
unresponsive) resulting in hci tx timeouts, hardware errors etc.

The fix to this issue is to cancel the delayed work scheduled on
cmd_timer on receiving command status or command complete event for
NOP command (this patch handles NOP command same as any other SIG
command).
