Similar to mmio/usb code path, remove wake logic in mt76s_process_tx_queue
routine. Starting from commit 90d494c99a ("mt76: improve tx queue
stop/wake"), the wake queue logic on the sdio status path is no longer
necessary since the hw queues are no longer stopped on the mt76 tx path.

In preparation to enable -Wimplicit-fallthrough for Clang, fix a
warning by replacing a /* fall through */ comment with the new
pseudo-keyword macro fallthrough; instead of letting the code fall
through to the next case.
Notice that Clang doesn't recognize /* fall through */ comments as
implicit fall-through markings.

When looking for a MAC address slot, start by using main BSSID slots 1-3,
afterwards use 16 repeater mode BSSID slots, then start using the slots
usually used for AP mode.
This search order should prevent unnecessary conflicts with AP mode interfaces
on the same PHY.
Note that two PHYs share global 32 omac slots with each other.

When per-packet rate reporting is enabled, the hardware can get stuck under
some conditions. It self-recovers quickly, but in practice this leads to
reduced performance.
In order to avoid running into this issue, disable per-packet rate reporting
by default and query the rx rate from firmware instead, unless monitor mode
is enabled.

In the MT7915 info, the fields for the WLAN index / queue overlap with the
token id, and the MT_TX_FREE_PAIR bit indicates, which one is present.
If MT_TX_FREE_PAIR is set, skip processing the token index, since the data
will not be valid.
This fixes accidentally freeing tokens which are still in use by the
hardware with a wrong station pointer.

Introduce sdio tx aggregation to reduce bus transaction ands improve tx
throughput. For the moment the skb are copied in a dedicated buffer
since mmc APIs do not support sg table for zero-copy.
Since skb data are already copied in xmit_buff[], avoid linearization in
ma80211 layer. Relying on tx aggregation, we improve tx tpt of ~65%.

This improves performance by allowing the scheduler to move the tx scheduling
work to idle CPUs. Since tx scheduling work is very latency sensitive and
kept short via AQL, sched_set_fifo_low is used to keep worker priority above
normal tasks

In order to avoid keeping work like tx scheduling pinned to the CPU it was
scheduled from, it makes sense to switch from tasklets to kernel threads.
Unlike a workqueue, this one only allows one fixed worker function to be
executed by the worker thread. Because of that, there is less locking
and less code for scheduling involved.
This is important because the tx worker is scheduled often in a hot path

Now that AQL works well on all mt76 drivers, completely replace the arbitrary
burst sizing and number of bursts logic for tx scheduling.
For the short period of time in which AQL does not work well yet, limit each
stations to 16 in-flight packets that have no estimated tx time.
This should avoid filling the queue if a station connects and queues up a
large number of packets before rate control information is available, especially
with hardware rate control

skbs, since pointers to packets are queued internally.
Because of that, there is no need to process the main data queue immediately
on DMA completion.
To improve performance, mask out the DMA data queue completion interrupt and
process the queue only when we receive a txfree event.
This brings the number of interrupts under load down to a small fraction.

Since DMA completion does not imply tx completion, it makes more sense to
poll for airtime from mt7915_mac_tx_free.
Reduce the runtime of the function by moving all items from dev->sta_poll_list
to a local list once and process any stations that were added afterwards
on the next run

Queueing a per-sta work item from the tx free path can become very expensive
under load. This work is only supposed to pull rate control stats every
second and deal with rate control changes.
Additionally, the rate control update code was wrong, because it was
confusing bit masks and bit numbers in test_bit.
Fix this by introducing a dedicated device work item for rate control
updates, and by polling station stats from the phy mac work.
Stations requiring polling or rate control updates are added to lists
protected by dev->sta_poll_lock.

After fixing mac80211 to allow larger A-MSDUs in some cases, there have been
reports of performance regressions and packet loss with some clients.
It appears that the issue occurs when the hardware is transmitting A-MSDUs
bigger than 8k. Limit the local VHT MPDU size capability to 7991, matching
the value used for MT7915 as well.

Using dev_kfree_skb for tx skbs breaks AQL. This worked until now only
by accident, because a mac80211 issue breaks AQL on drivers with firmware
rate control that report the rate via ieee80211_tx_status_ext as struct
rate_info.

The implementation of embedding WTBL update inside the STA_REC update is buggy
on the MT7615 v2 firmware. This leads to connection issues after a station has
connected and disconnected again.
Switch to the v1 MCU API ops, since they have received much more testing and
should be more stable.
On MT7622 and later, the v2 API is more actively used, so we should keep using
it as well.

mt76 driver had major conflicts within mt7615 directory. To make it easier for
every merge wireless-drivers to wireless-drivers-next and solve those
conflicts.
In the implementation of mt7601u_mcu_msg_send(), skb is supposed to be
consumed on all execution paths. Release skb before returning if
test_bit() fails.

Smatch complains that "wcidx" value comes from the network and thus
cannot be trusted. In this case, it actually seems to come from the
firmware. If your wireless firmware is malicious then probably no
amount of carefulness can protect you.
On the other hand, these days we still try to check the firmware as much
as possible. Verifying that the index is within bounds will silence a
static checker warning. And it's harmless and a good exercise in kernel
hardening. So I suggest that we do add a bounds check.

On usb device rate configuration for sampling is performed relying on a
workqueue since it is not possible to access the device in the interrupt

Unlike on earlier chips, DMA completion on MT7615 does not imply actually
having sent out any packets.
Since AQL will prevent filling the hardware queues and will only allow more
packets to be passed to the driver after tx completion, it makes much more
sense to schedule the tx tasklet there.
This is also needed for scheduling tx in testmode support

In MT7915, hardware queue map is flexible. However, certain firmware modules
like MU and U-APSD presume a fixed queue order to adapt some devices that have
DMA scheduler with a strict order, so this patch can help in the long run.

While looking at the ETSI regulatory domain definitions
and a patch, which allows more channels for ath10k, I also
checked the channels allowed for mt76.
ETSI regulations would possibly allow to add channels 32, 68,
96, 144, 169 and 173. IEEE 802.11-2016 defines no operating class
for channels 32, 68 and 96. This leaves us channels 144, 169 and 173,
which are included in this patch.
I tested 169 and 173 with a mt76 based USB dongle (AVM AC 860) and they
worked fine. If I saw that right, these channels are also covered by
register definitions inside the driver.
Channel 144 should also work, but gets disabled by the kernel as of now.

Since commit 84af7a6194 ("checkpatch: kconfig: prefer 'help' over

decreasing, but there are still more than 2400 instances.
This commit finishes the conversion. While I touched the lines,
I also fixed the indentation.

mt76 core uses ffs() to find the next free bit. This works well for 32 bit
architectures where BITS_PER_LONG is 32. ffs only checks 32 bit values, so
allocation fails on 64 bit architectures.
Additionally, the wcid mask array was too small in cases where the array
was not a multiple of BITS_PER_LONG.
Fix this by making the wcid mask array u32 instead and use DIV_ROUND_UP
for the size, just in case we ever bump it to a value that's not a multiple
of 32.

Fix hw_scan with ssid_type for specified SSID only
The definition for ssid_type in current firmware is that
ssid_type BIT(2) set actually for specified SSID + wildcard SSID.

Enable or disable OBSS PD when the bss config changes or we
assoc to an AP that broadcasts the IE.
With this patch, we can get ~20% gain in OBSS OTA environment.

Driver can manually set fixed rate for each peer through debugfs.

Add support for the MediaTek latest generation IEEE 802.11ax 4x4
device MT7915E, which supports concurrent dual-band operation at
both 5GHz and 2.4GHz.
Note that this patch just add basic part and will add more HE
capabilities support in the further patches.
The driver supports AP, Station, Mesh and monitor mode.

If device has enabled beacon hw filter rx beacons are not reported to
the host. Introduce beacon_loss mcu event to trigger mac80211 mlme
connection state machine in this configuration.
IEEE80211_VIF_BEACON_FILTER has not set in vif flags since hw beacon
filter is not enabled yet

For the moment offload firmware supports just one entry in the scheduled
scan plan and so it runs till it is disabled by the userspace.

On top of the EEPROM target power, each rate can also has a power offset.
On many devices, this power offset is used to boost the tx power of lower
rates. Take this into account when parsing rate power.
The assumption here is, that the first rate (OFDM 6M or CCK 1M) has the
highest tx power

mt7663 firmware v2 is used for embedded devices since it has more completed
features in AP mode.
Add the capability to specify which firmware load first (v3 or v2)
using prefer_offload_fw kernel parameter and fallback to the other one
if the selected firmware fails to load

The hardware requirements for A-MPDU density are entirely on the tx side,
not the rx side. Because of that, the IE value should stay at 0 and the
minimum value should instead be enforced in WTBL/TXWI

Since usb code can't access device registers in interrupt context, move
rcu_read_lock/rcu_read_unlock in mt7615_poll_tx routine. Moreover loop
over a local msta list in mt7615_mac_sta_poll since mt7663u driver will
not be able to complete the inner while loop before sta_poll_list list

With MSI interrupts, IRQs must not be enabled from within the IRQ handler,
because that can lead to lost events.
Defer IRQ processing to a tasklet, which is also responsible for enabling
IRQs (to avoid race conditions against the handler)

mac80211/hostapd runs mt7615_set_channel with the same channel
parameters sending multiple rdd commands overwriting the previous ones.
This behaviour is causing tpt issues on dfs channels.
Fix the issue checking new channel freq/width with the running one.

If a MCU timeout occurs before a hw restart completes, another hw restart
is scheduled, and the station state gets corrupted.
To speed up dealing with that, do not issue any MCU commands after the first
timeout, and defer handling timeouts until the reset has completed.
Also ignore errors in MCU commands during start/config to avoid making user
space fail on this condition. If it happens, another restart is scheduled
quickly, and that usually recovers the hardware properly.

When injecting beacon frames via monitor interface, they must not be sent to
the beacon hardware queue, because they don't follow normal hardware beacon tx
rules.
Fix sending them by adding a flag to mt7615_mac_write_txwi that selects the
beacon queue for tx, and use it only from mt7615_mcu_set_bcn.

If the minimum power is raised too much, it can make it impossible for weaker
clients to connect, and there are some scenarios where the false detects will
not go down no matter how much the sensitivity is adjusted.

If the hardware receives an oversized packet with too many rx fragments,
skb_shinfo(skb)->frags can overflow and corrupt memory of adjacent pages.
This becomes especially visible if it corrupts the freelist pointer of
a slab page.

As previous devices, mt7622 relies on multiple hw queues while for
mt7615 we have just on per band hw queue and the mcu demux the traffic
according to the packet AC. In order to dump all configured hw queues,

Overwriting the RMAC_CHFREQ register is not reliable enough, as the firmware
could potentially write it again.
Since there is no PHY index indication in the rx info, we need to use another
way:
If both PHYs are using different channels, find the PHY where chfreq matches
the register value.
The only corner case remaining is when both PHYs are using the same channel.
In that case, the per-packet noise value on the primary PHY will have
information belonging to the chains of the secondary PHY from the previous
received packet of that PHY. The secondary PHY will set noise to 0 for extra
chains.

Setting the tx power by manipulating EEPROM may in some cases not be enough,
since it only covers the base target power and not per-rate offsets.
In other cases, it could limit tx power of rates too much, possibly reducing
throughput or range.
Use firmware support for applying per-rate limit and power offsets for
different values of Nss.

MT7622 does not have the CR4 microcontroller sitting in the data path.
Because of that, it uses the chip's native tx descriptor format instead of
something parsed and converted by the firmware.

MT7615 supports dual-wiphy which means that it can run on 2.4G and 5GHz
channels simultaneously, and driver should configure each band.
Add missing register settings, and refine band related definitions to
avoid duplicate codes.

During the cleanup of the aggregation session, a rx handler (or release timer)
on another CPU might still hold a pointer to the reorder buffer and could
attempt to release some packets.
Clearing pointers during cleanup avoids a theoretical use-after-free bug here.

Before extracting the tid out of the packet, check if it was qos-data.
Only accept tid values 0-7
Also, avoid accepting the hardware queue as skb queue mapping, it could
lead to an overrun. Instead, derive the hardware queue from the tid number,
in order to avoid issues with packets being filtered multiple times.
This also fixes a mismatch between hardware and software queue indexes.

MCU_EXT_CMD_EFUSE_BUFFER_MODE needs more time on initialization, and

For transferring data over USB the optimal size is endpoint maxpacket.
For my hardware maxpaket for control endpoint is 64 bytes and changing
to this value from 128 bytes further shorten TBTT work time from
3ms to 1ms.

This patch removes a mt76_wr_copy call from the beacon path to hw.
The skb which is used in this place gets therefore build with txwi
inside its data. For mt76 usb drivers, this saves one synchronuous
copy call over usb, which lets the beacon work complete faster.
In mmio case, there is not enough headroom to put the txwi into the
skb, it is therefore using an additional mt76_wr_copy, which is fast
over mmio. Thanks Stanislaw for pointing this out.

Sending beacons to the hardware always happens in batches. In order to
speed up beacon processing on usb devices, this patch splits out common
code an calls it only once.
Beacons are sequentially written into the beacon memory area, by
tracking its usage with the dev->beacon_data_count. For MBSS support
and buffered traffic dev->beacon_data_count is used to create the bypass
mask.
The code is also adapted for the mmio part of the driver, but should not
have any performance implication there.
MBSS tests were performed with AVM AC860 USB NIC with temporary support
for 5 BSS'. Different combinations of active vifs were created and
brought up. Afterwards connection and data transfer was tested for the
announced BSS'.

mt76 hw does not send beacons from beacon slots, if the corresponding
bitmask is set accordingly. Therefore we can omit clearing the beacon
memory. Clearing uses many usb calls, if usb drivers are used. These
calls unnecessarily slow down the beacon tasklet. Thanks to Stanislaw
Gruzska for pointing this out.

Before this patch, mt76 handled rx traffic for all TIDs equally,
when released from reorder buffer early. This patch uses an AC specific
reorder timeout, in order to release partial aggregated frames for video
ACs earlier. Voice ACs are currently not aggregated (thanks to Felix for
this hint). For example, ath10k also uses AC specific reorder timeouts
(reported by firmware in that case).

The MT7615 firmware needs to know the association id at creation time,
which is unavailable during the transition from notexist to none in
.sta_state.
This can cause a number of issues, probably also breaking powersave
support.

Loading the mcu firmware and waiting for it to boot takes a long time,
which adds a significant amount to the system boot time.
Fix this by running the mcu init from a workqueue and waiting for it to
complete before starting the phy or issuing mcu commands via debugfs

This is only used for testing for now. In the future it will be possible to
enable the second PHY through an proper API via device tree

echo 1 > /sys/kernel/debug/ieee80211/phyX/mt76/dbdc
will register a second wiphy (and limit the primary one to 2 spatial streams).
The second wiphy will only be able to run on 5 GHz, while the primary one can
operate in both bands (if supported by the device).

Move chainmask to struct mt7615_phy and instead of needlessly making the
format similar to values for older chips, make it refer to the actual chain
bits used for the rx/tx path.
This is important for multiple wiphy support, where for a secondary phy,
antenna_mask will start at 0, and chainmask will start at the chain offset
(bit 2)

There are two DFS detectors on the chip. When using 160 MHz channel bandwidth
(not supported in dual-wiphy mode), both are used. Otherwise, one detector is
used per wiphy.
Rework the code to start/stop them separately per phy and to indicate the

The mt76_led_cleanup() function is called unconditionally, which
leads to a link error when CONFIG_LEDS is a loadable module or
disabled but mt76 is built-in:

Since commit 7bd0650be6 ("mt76: dma: fix buffer unmap with non-linear skbs")
is no longer necessary to disable HW encryption for MT7630E.
Disabling HW encryption helped previously because somehow fragmented
skb's are not created if mac80211 encrypt frames, so buffer unmap bug
of non-linear skbs was not triggered. Now since this bug is properly
fixed by commit 7bd0650be6 ("mt76: dma: fix buffer unmap with
non-linear skbs") , we can enable HW encryption back.

mt76x0e driver only supports MAC addresses from
calibration data eeprom. Many routers however do not
have a valid stock address set in this field.

With the devm API, the unregister happens after the device cleanup is done,
after which the struct mt76_dev which contains the led_cdev has already been

mt76 dma layer is supposed to unmap skb data buffers while keep txwi
mapped on hw dma ring. At the moment mt76 wrongly unmap txwi or does
not unmap data fragments in even positions for non-linear skbs. This
issue may result in hw hangs with A-MSDU if the system relies on IOMMU
or SWIOTLB. Fix this behaviour properly unmapping data fragments on
non-linear skbs.

On same device (e.g. U7612E-H1) PCIE_ASPM causes continuous mcu hangs and
instability. Since mt76x2 series does not manage PCIE PS states, first we
try to disable ASPM using pci_disable_link_state. If it fails, we will
disable PCIE PS configuring PCI registers.
This patch has been successfully tested on U7612E-H1 mini-pice card

The dev_kfree_skb() function performs also input parameter validation.
Thus the test around the shown calls is not needed.
This issue was detected by using the Coccinelle software.

There really is no need to make drivers call the
ieee80211_start_tx_ba_cb_irqsafe() function and then
schedule the worker if all we want is to set a bit.
Add a new return value (that was previously considered
invalid) to indicate that the driver is immediately
ready for the session, and make drivers use it. The
only drivers that remain different are the Intel ones
as they need to negotiate more with the firmware.

Fix bbp ready check in mt7601u_wait_bbp_ready. The issue is reported by
coverity with the following error:
Logical vs. bitwise operator
The expression's value does not depend on the operands; inadvertent use
of the wrong operator is a likely logic error.

mt7615 patch/n9/cr4 firmwares are available in mediatek folder in
linux-firmware repository. Because of this mt7615 won't work on regular
distributions like Ubuntu. Fix path definitions. Moreover remove useless
firmware name pointers and use definitions directly

tx queues are already disabled by mac80211 during scanning or other
off-channel activity. There is no need to repeat the check in mt76,
since scheduled queues are selected by mac80211 as well.

MT7615 chips usually come pre-calibrated, even when used on embedded boards.
In that case, the on-flash EEPROM data needs to be merged with some data
from OTP ROM.
Run this merge if the external EEPROM data is valid and OTP has valid fields.
