It seems that we cannot differentiate 88X3310 from 88X3340 by simply
looking at bit 3 of revision ID. This only works on revisions A0 and A1.
On revision B0, this bit is always 1.
Instead use the 3.d00d register for differentiation, since this register
contains information about number of ports on the device.

AR8031/AR8033 have different status registers for copper
and fiber operation. However, the extended status register
is the same for both operation modes.
As a result of that, ESTATUS_1000_XFULL is set to 1 even when
operating in copper TP mode.
Remove this mode from the supported link modes, as this driver
currently only supports copper operation.

The key length used to store the macsec key was set to MACSEC_KEYID_LEN
(16), which is an issue as:
- This was never meant to be the key length.
- The key length can be > 16.
Fix this by using MACSEC_MAX_KEY_LEN instead (the max length accepted in
uAPI).

The SJA1110 switch integrates TJA1103 PHYs, but in SJA1110 switch rev B
silicon, there is a bug in that the registers for selecting the 100base-T1
autoneg master/slave roles are not writable.
To enable write access to the master/slave registers, these additional
PHY writes are necessary during initialization.
The issue has been corrected in later SJA1110 silicon versions and is
not present in the standalone PHY variants, but applying the workaround
unconditionally in the driver should not do any harm.

The reconstruction procedure for partial timestamps reads the current
PTP time and fills in the low 2 bits of the second portion, as well as
the nanoseconds portion, from the actual hardware packet timestamp.
Critically, the reconstruction procedure works because it assumes that
the current PTP time is strictly larger than the hardware timestamp was:
it detects a 2-bit wraparound of the 'seconds' portion by checking whether
the 'seconds' portion of the partial hardware timestamp is larger than
the 'seconds' portion of the current time. That can only happen if the
hardware timestamp was captured by the PHY during the last phase of a
'modulo 4 seconds' interval, and the current PTP time was read by the
driver during the initial phase of the next 'modulo 4 seconds' interval.
The partial RX timestamps are added to priv->rx_queue in
nxp_c45_rxtstamp() and they are processed potentially in parallel by the
aux worker thread in nxp_c45_do_aux_work(). This means that it is
possible for nxp_c45_do_aux_work() to process more than one RX timestamp
during the same schedule.
There is one premature optimization that will cause issues: for RX
timestamping, the driver reads the current time only once, and it uses
that to reconstruct all PTP RX timestamps in the queue. For the second
and later timestamps, this will be an issue if we are processing two RX
timestamps which are to the left and to the right, respectively, of a
4-bit wraparound of the 'seconds' portion of the PTP time, and the
current PTP time is also pre-wraparound.

What will happen in that case is that hwts 2 (post-wraparound) will use
a stale current PTP time that is pre-wraparound.
But nxp_c45_reconstruct_ts will not detect this condition, because it is
not coded up for it, so it will reconstruct hwts 2 with a current time
from the previous 4 second interval (i.e. 0.something instead of
4.something).
This is solvable by making sure that the full 64-bit current time is
always read after the PHY has taken the partial RX timestamp. We do this
by reading the current PTP time for every timestamp in the RX queue.

nxp_c45_reconstruct_ts() takes a partial hardware timestamp in @hwts,
with 2 bits of the 'seconds' portion, and a full PTP time in @ts.
It patches in the lower bits of @hwts into @ts, and to ensure that the
reconstructed timestamp is correct, it checks whether the lower 2 bits
of @hwts are not in fact higher than the lower 2 bits of @ts. This is
not logically possible because, according to the calling convention, @ts
was collected later in time than @hwts, but due to two's complement
arithmetic it can actually happen, because the current PTP time might
have wrapped around between when @hwts was collected and when @ts was,
yielding the lower 2 bits of @ts smaller than those of @hwts.
To correct for that situation which is expected to happen under normal
conditions, the driver subtracts exactly one wraparound interval from
the reconstructed timestamp, since the upper bits of that need to
correspond to what the upper bits of @hwts were, not to what the upper
bits of @ts were.
Readers might be confused because the driver denotes the amount of bits
that the partial hardware timestamp has to offer as TS_SEC_MASK
(timestamp mask for seconds). But it subtracts a seemingly unrelated
BIT(2), which is in fact more subtle: if the hardware timestamp provides
2 bits of partial 'seconds' timestamp, then the wraparound interval is
2^2 == BIT(2).
But nonetheless, it is better to express the wraparound interval in
terms of a definition we already have, so replace BIT(2) with
1 + GENMASK(1, 0) which produces the same result but is clearer.

This patch support for cable test for the ksz886x switches and the
ksz8081 PHY.
The patch was tested on a KSZ8873RLL switch with following results:
- port 1:
- provides invalid values, thus return -ENOTSUPP

- port 2:
- can detect distance
- can detect open on each wire of pair A (wire 1 and 2)
- can detect open only on one wire of pair B (only wire 3)
- can detect short between wires of a pair (wires 1 + 2 or 3 + 6)
- short between pairs is detected as open.
For example short between wires 2 + 3 is detected as open.

PHY devices such as the Marvell Alaska 88E2110 does not return a valid
PHY ID when probed using Clause-22. The current implementation treats
PHY ID of zero as a non-error and valid PHY ID, and causing the PHY
device failed to bind to the Marvell driver.
For such devices, we do an additional probe in the Clause-45 space,
if a valid PHY ID is returned, we then proceed to attach the PHY
device to the matching PHY ID driver.

PHY will delay about 11.5ms to generate RXC clock when switching from
power down to normal operation. Read/write registers would also cause RXC
become unstable and stop for a while during this process. Realtek engineer
suggests 15ms or more delay can workaround this issue.

If enable Advance Link Down Power Saving (ALDPS) mode, it will change
crystal/clock behavior, which cause RXC clock stop for dozens to hundreds
of miliseconds. This is comfirmed by Realtek engineer. For some MACs, it
needs RXC clock to support RX logic, after this patch, PHY can generate
continuous RXC clock during auto-negotiation.
ALDPS default is disabled after hardware reset, it's more reasonable to
add a property to enable this feature, since ALDPS would introduce side effect.
This patch adds dt property "realtek,aldps-enable" to enable ALDPS mode
per users' requirement.
Jisheng Zhang enables this feature, changes the default behavior. Since
mine patch breaks the rule that new implementation should not break
existing design, so Cc'ed let him know to see if it can be accepted.

CLKOUT is enabled by default after PHY hardware reset, this patch adds
"realtek,clkout-disable" property for user to disable CLKOUT clock
to save PHY power.
Per RTL8211F guide, a PHY reset should be issued after setting these
bits in PHYCR2 register. After this patch, CLKOUT clock output to be
disabled.

While investigating the clang `ge` uninitialized variable report, it was
discovered the default switch would have unintended consequences. Due to
the switch to __phy_modify, the driver would modify the ID values in the
default scenario.
Fix this by promoting the interface mode switch and aborting when the
mode is not a supported RGMII mode.
This prevents the `ge` and `fe` variables from ever being used
uninitialized.

clang doesn't preinitialize variables. If phy_select_page failed and
returned an error, phy_restore_page would be called with `ret` being
uninitialized.

We spotted a bug recently during a review where a driver was
unregistering a bus that wasn't registered, which would trigger this
BUG_ON(). Let's handle that situation more gracefully, and just print
a warning and return.

Since the at803x share the same regs, it's assumed they are based on the
same implementation. Make it part of the at803x PHY driver to skip
having redudant code.
Add initial support for qca8k internal PHYs. The internal PHYs requires
special mmd and debug values to be set based on the switch revision
passwd using the dev_flags. Supports output of idle, receive and eee_wake
errors stats.
Some debug values sets can't be translated as the documentation lacks any
reference about them.

Add mii_timestamper interface and register a ptp clock.
The package timestamping can work with or without interrupts.
RX timestamps are received in the reserved field of the PTP package.
TX timestamps are read via MDIO from a set of registers.

A number of PHYs support the PHY tunable to set and get
downshift. However, only 88E1116R enables downshift by default. Extend
this default enabled to all the PHYs that support the downshift
tunable.

The Intel xway phys offer the possibility to deactivate the integrated
LED function and to control the LEDs manually.
If this was set by the bootloader, it must be ensured that the
integrated LED function is enabled for all LEDs when loading the driver.
Before commit 6e2d85ec05 ("net: phy: Stop with excessive soft reset")
the LEDs were enabled by a soft-reset of the PHY (using
genphy_soft_reset). Initialize the XWAY_MDIO_LED with it's default
value (which is applied during a soft reset) instead of adding back
the soft reset. This brings back the default LED configuration while
still preventing an excessive amount of soft resets.

The commit c329e5afb4 ("net: phy: at803x: select correct page on
config init") selects the copper page during probe. This fails if the
copper page was already selected. In this case, the value of the copper
page (which is 1) is propagated through phy_restore_page() and is
finally returned for at803x_probe(). Fix it, by just using the
at803x_page_write() directly.
Also in case of an error, the regulator is not disabled and leads to a
WARN_ON() when the probe fails. This couldn't happen before, because
at803x_parse_dt() was the last call in at803x_probe(). It is hard to
see, that the parse_dt() actually enables the regulator. Thus move the
regulator_enable() to the probe function and undo it in case of an
error.

Register 27_6.15:14 has the following description in 88E6393X
documentation:
Temperature Sensor Enable
0x0 - Sample every 1s
0x1 - Sense rate decided by bits 10:8 of this register
0x2 - Use 26_6.5 (One shot Temperature Sample) to enable
0x3 - Disable
This is compatible with how the 6390 code uses this register currently,
but the 6390 code handles it as two 1-bit registers (somewhat), instead
of one register with 4 possible values.
(A newer version of the 6390 documentation removed temperature sensor
section completely. In an older version, the above mentioned register
is reserved, although it is R/W. Since the code works, I think we can
assume that it is correct.)
Rename this register and define all 4 values according to 6393X
documentation.

In case of loopback, in most cases we need to disable autoneg support
and force some speed configuration. Otherwise, depending on currently
active auto negotiated link speed, the loopback may or may not work.
This patch was tested with following PHYs: TJA1102, KSZ8081, KSZ9031,
AT8035, AR9331.

The Atheros AR8031 and AR8033 expose different registers for SGMII/Fiber
as well as the copper side of the PHY depending on the BT_BX_REG_SEL bit
in the chip configure register.
The driver assumes the copper side is selected on probe, but this might
not be the case depending which page was last selected by the
bootloader. Notably, Ubiquiti UniFi bootloaders show this behavior.
Select the copper page when probing to circumvent this.

Setting 10G without autonegotiation is invalid according to
phy_ethtool_ksettings_set(). Thus, we need to set it during
autonegotiation.
If 1G autonegotiation can't complete for quite a time, but there is
signal in line, switch line interface type to 10GBase-R, if supported,
in hope for link to be established.
And vice versa. If 10GBase-R link can't be established for quite a time,
and autonegotiation is enabled, and there is signal in line, switch line
interface type to appropriate 1G mode, i.e. 1000Base-X or SGMII, if
supported.

Some SFP modules uses RX_LOS for link indication. In such cases link
will be always up, even without cable connected. RX_LOS changes will
trigger link_up()/link_down() upstream operations. Thus, check that SFP
link is operational before actual read link status.
If there is no SFP cage connected to the tranciever, check only PMD
Recieve Signal Detect register.

Since commit fee2d54641 ("net: phy: marvell: mv88e6390 temperature
sensor reading"), Linux reports the temperature of Topaz hwmon as
constant -75°C.
This is because switches from the Topaz family (88E6141 / 88E6341) have
the address of the temperature sensor register different from Peridot.
This address is instead compatible with 88E1510 PHYs, as was used for
Topaz before the above mentioned commit.
Create a new mapping table between switch family and PHY ID for families
which don't have a model number. And define PHY IDs for Topaz and Peridot
families.
Create a new PHY ID and a new PHY driver for Topaz's internal PHY.
The only difference from Peridot's PHY driver is the HWMON probing
method.
Prior this change Topaz's internal PHY is detected by kernel as:
PHY [...] driver [Marvell 88E6390] (irq=63)
And afterwards as:
PHY [...] driver [Marvell 88E6341 Family] (irq=63)

The new netlink API for reading SFP data requires a new op to be
implemented. The idea of the new netlink SFP code is that userspace is
responsible to parsing the EEPROM data and requesting pages, rather
than have the kernel decide what pages are interesting and returning
them. This allows greater flexibility for newer formats.
Currently the generic SFP code only supports simple SFPs. Allow i2c
address 0x50 and 0x51 to be accessed with page and bank must always be
0. This interface will later be extended when for example QSFP support
is added.

Resume callback of the PHY driver is called after the one for the MAC
driver. The PHY driver resume callback calls phy_init_hw(), and this is
potentially problematic if the MAC driver calls phy_start() in its resume
callback. One issue was reported with the fec driver and a KSZ8081 PHY
which seems to become unstable if a soft reset is triggered during aneg.
The new flag allows MAC drivers to indicate that they take care of
suspending/resuming the PHY. Then the MAC PM callbacks can handle
any dependency between MAC and PHY PM.

Add support for all rate matching modes for 88X3310 (currently only
10gbase-r is supported, but xaui and rxaui can also be used).
Add support for rate matching for 88E2110 (on 88E2110 the MACTYPE
register is at a different place).
Currently rate matching mode is selected by strapping pins (by setting
the MACTYPE register). There is work in progress to enable this driver
to deduce the best MACTYPE from the knowledge of which interface modes
are supported by the host, but this work is not finished yet.

All Gigabit PHYs use the same register layout as far as fetching
statistics goes. Fast Ethernet PHYs do not all support statistics, and
the BCM54616S would require some switching between the coper and fiber
modes to fetch the appropriate statistics which is not supported yet.

Here is what Vladimir says about it:
at803x_aneg_done() keeps the aneg reporting as "not done" even when
the copper-side link was reported as up, but the in-band autoneg has
not finished.
That was the _intended_ behavior when that code was introduced, and
Heiner have said about it [1]:
| That's not nice from the PHY:
| It signals "link up", and if the system asks the PHY for link details,
| then it sheepishly says "well, link is *almost* up".
If the specification of phy_aneg_done behavior does not include
in-band autoneg (and it doesn't), then this piece of code does not
belong here.
The fact that we can no longer trigger this code from phylib is yet
another reason why it fails at its intended (and wrong) purpose and
should be removed.
Removing the SGMII link check, would just keep the call to
genphy_aneg_done(), which is also the fallback. Thus we can just remove
at803x_aneg_done() altogether.

Add basic support for the Marvell 88X2222 multi-speed ethernet
transceiver.
This PHY provides data transmission over fiber-optic as well as Twinax
copper links. The 88X2222 supports 2 ports of 10GBase-R and 1000Base-X
on the line-side interface. The host-side interface supports 4 ports of
10GBase-R, RXAUI, 1000Base-X and 2 ports of XAUI.
This driver, however, supports only XAUI on the host-side and
1000Base-X/10GBase-R on the line-side, for now. The SGMII is also
supported over 1000Base-X. Interrupts are not supported.
Internal registers access compliant with the Clause 45 specification.

The PHY driver entry for BCM50160 and BCM50610M calls

order to configuration appropriate clock delays on the PHY, fix that.

Per the datasheet, when we clear the power down bit, the PHY remains in
an internal reset state for 40us and then resume normal operation.
Account for that delay to avoid any issues in the future if
genphy_resume() changes.

phydev::dev_flags contains a bitmask of configuration bits requested by
the consumer of a PHY device (Ethernet MAC or switch) towards the PHY
driver. Since these flags are often used for requesting LED or other
type of configuration being able to quickly audit them without
instrumenting the kernel is useful.

If phy uses generic driver and autoneg is on, enter command
"ethtool -s eth0 speed 50" will not change phy speed actually, but
command "ethtool eth0" shows speed is 50Mb/s because phydev->speed
has been set to 50 and no update later.
And duplex setting has same problem too.
However, if autoneg is on, phy only changes speed and duplex according to
phydev->advertising, but not phydev->speed and phydev->duplex. So in this
case, phydev->speed and phydev->duplex don't need to be set in function
phy_ethtool_ksettings_set() if autoneg is on.

The previous implementation of .handle_interrupt() did not take into
account the fact that all the interrupt status registers should be
acknowledged since multiple interrupt sources could be asserted.
Fix this by reading all the status registers before exiting with
IRQ_NONE or triggering the PHY state machine.

Following a similar reinstate for the KSZ9031.
Older kernels would use the genphy_soft_reset if the PHY did not implement
a .soft_reset.
Bluntly removing that default may expose a lot of situations where various
PHYs/board implementations won't recover on various changes.
Like with this implementation during a 4.9.x to 5.4.x LTS transition.
I think it's a good thing to remove unwanted soft resets but wonder if it
did open a can of worms?
Atleast this fixes one iMX6 FEC/RMII/8081 combo.

The comments to phy_select_page() say that "phy_restore_page() must
always be called after this, irrespective of success or failure of this
call." If we don't call phy_restore_page() then we are still holding
the phy_lock_mdio_bus() so it eventually leads to a dead lock.

bcm54xx_config_init was modifying the PHY LED configuration to enable link
and activity indications. However, some SFP modules (such as Bel-Fuse
SFP-1GBT-06) have no LEDs but use the LED outputs to control the SFP LOS
signal, and modifying the LED settings will cause the LOS output to
malfunction. Skip this configuration for PHYs which are bound to an SFP
bus.

When 88E1111 is operating in SGMII mode, auto-negotiation should be enabled
on the SGMII side so that the link will come up properly with PCSes which
normally have auto-negotiation enabled. This is normally the case when the
PHY defaults to SGMII mode at power-up, however if we switched it from some
other mode like 1000Base-X, as may happen in some SFP module situations,
it may not be, particularly for modules which have 1000Base-X
auto-negotiation defaulting to disabled.
Call genphy_check_and_restart_aneg on the fiber page to ensure that auto-
negotiation is properly enabled on the SGMII interface.

Now that we have PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_5GBASER interface mode available,
change sfp_select_interface() to return PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_5GBASER if
5000baseT_Full is set in the link mode mask.

The 'coma mode' (configurable through sw or hw) provides an
optional feature that may be used to control when the PHYs become active.
The typical usage is to synchronize the link-up time across
all PHY instances. This patch releases coma mode if not done by hardware,
otherwise the phys will not link-up.

The current IB serdes calibration algorithm (performed by the onboard 8051)
has proven to be unstable for the VSC8514 QSGMII phy.
A new algorithm has been developed based on
'Frequency-offset Jittered-Injection' or 'FoJi' method which solves
all known issues. This patch disables the 8051 algorithm and
replaces it with the new FoJi algorithm.
The calibration is now performed in a new file (mscc_serdes.c),
which can act as an placeholder for future serdes configurations.

At Power-On Reset, transients may cause the LCPLL to lock onto a
clock that is momentarily unstable. This is normally seen in QSGMII
setups where the higher speed 6G SerDes is being used.
This patch adds an initial LCPLL Reset to the PHY (first instance)
to avoid this issue.

Some internal PHY's have their events like link change reported by the
MAC interrupt. We have PHY_IGNORE_INTERRUPT to deal with this scenario.
I'm not too happy with this name. We don't ignore interrupts, typically
there is no interrupt exposed at a PHY level. So let's rename it to
PHY_MAC_INTERRUPT. This is in line with phy_mac_interrupt(), which is
called from the MAC interrupt handler to handle PHY events.

AR8035 recently gained MDIX support. The same functions will work for
the AR8031/33 PHY. We just need to add the at803x_config_aneg()
callback.

BCM54210E/BCM50212E has been verified to work correctly with the
auto-power down configuration done by bcm54xx_adjust_rxrefclk(), add it
to the list of PHYs working.
While we are at it, provide an appropriate name for the bit we are
changing which disables the RXC and TXC during auto-power down when
there is no energy on the cable.

We have a number of unused flags defined today and since we are scarce
on space and may need to introduce new flags in the future remove and
shift every existing flag down into a contiguous assignment.
PHY_BCM_FLAGS_MODE_1000BX was only used internally for the BCM54616S
PHY, so we allocate a driver private structure instead to store that
flag instead of canibalizing one from phydev->dev_flags for that
purpose.

Claudiu reported that on his system S2R cuts off power to the PHY and
after resuming certain PHY settings are lost. The PM folks confirmed
that cutting off power to selected components in S2R is a valid case.
Therefore resuming from S2R, same as from hibernation, has to assume
that the PHY has power-on defaults. As a consequence use the restore
callback also as resume callback.
In addition make sure that the interrupt configuration is restored.
Let's do this in phy_init_hw() and ensure that after this call
actual interrupt configuration is in sync with phydev->interrupts.
Currently, if interrupt was enabled before hibernation, we would
resume with interrupt disabled because that's the power-on default.
This fix applies cleanly only after the commit marked as fixed.
I don't have an affected system, therefore change is compile-tested
only.

The IP101G provides three counters: RX packets, CRC errors and symbol
errors. The error counters can be configured to clear automatically on
read. Unfortunately, this isn't true for the RX packet counter. Because
of this and because the RX packet counter is more likely to overflow,
than the error counters implement only support for the error counters.

Registers >= 16 are paged. Be sure to set the page. It seems this was
working for now, because the default is correct for the registers used
in the driver at the moment. But this will also assume, nobody will
change the page select register before linux is started. The page select
register is _not_ reset with a soft reset of the PHY.
To ease the function reuse between the non-paged register space of the
IP101A and the IP101G, add noop read_page()/write_page() callbacks so
the IP101G functions can also be used for the IP101A.

Unfortunately, the IP101A and IP101G share the same PHY identifier.
While most of the functions are somewhat backwards compatible, there is
for example the APS_EN bit on the IP101A but on the IP101G this bit
reserved. Also, the IP101G has many more functionalities.
Deduce the model by accessing the page select register which - according
to the datasheet - is not available on the IP101A. If this register is
writable, assume we have an IP101G.
Split the combined IP101A/G driver into two separate drivers.

At the moment, PORT_MII is reported in the ethtool ops. This is odd
because it is an interface between the MAC and the PHY and no external
port. Some network card drivers will overwrite the port to twisted pair
or fiber, though. Even worse, the MDI/MDIX setting is only used by
ethtool if the port is twisted pair.
Set the port to PORT_TP by default because most PHY drivers are copper
ones. If there is fibre support and it is enabled, the PHY driver will
set it to PORT_FIBRE.
This will change reporting PORT_MII to either PORT_TP or PORT_FIBRE;
except for the genphy fallback driver.

The mdio_bus reset code first de-asserted the reset by allocating with
GPIOD_OUT_LOW, then asserted and de-asserted again. In other words, if
the reset signal defaulted to asserted, there'd be a short "spike"
before the reset.
Here is what happens depending on the pre-existing state of the reset
signal:

At point A, the low going transition is because the reset line is
requested using GPIOD_OUT_LOW. If the line is successfully requested,
the first thing we do is set it high _without_ any delay. This is
point B. So, a glitch occurs between A and B.
We then fsleep() and finally set the GPIO low at point C.
Requesting the line using GPIOD_OUT_HIGH eliminates the A and B
transitions. Instead we get:

Where A and C are the points described above in the code. Point B
has been eliminated.
The issue was found when we pulled down the reset signal for the
Marvell 88E1512P PHY (because it requires at least 50ms after POR with
an active clock). Looking at the reset signal with a scope revealed a
short spike, point B in the artwork above.

The Ubiquiti U-Fiber Instant SFP GPON module has nonsensical information
stored in its EEPROM. It claims to support all transceiver types including
10G Ethernet. Clear all claimed modes and set only 1000baseX_Full, which is
the only one supported.
This module has also phys_id set to SFF, and the SFP subsystem currently
does not allow to use SFP modules detected as SFFs. Add exception for this
module so it can be detected as supported.
This change finally allows to detect and use SFP GPON module Ubiquiti
U-Fiber Instant on Linux system.

The workaround for VSOL V2801F brand based GPON SFP modules added in commit
0d035bed2a ("net: sfp: VSOL V2801F / CarlitoxxPro CPGOS03-0490 v2.0
workaround") works only for IDs added explicitly to the list. Since there
are rebranded modules where OEM vendors put different strings into the
vendor name field, we cannot base workaround on IDs only.
Moreover the issue which the above mentioned commit tried to work around is
generic not only to VSOL based modules, but rather to all GPON modules
based on Realtek RTL8672 and RTL9601C chips.
These include at least the following GPON modules:
* V-SOL V2801F
* C-Data FD511GX-RM0
* OPTON GP801R
* BAUDCOM BD-1234-SFM
* CPGOS03-0490 v2.0
* Ubiquiti U-Fiber Instant
* EXOT EGS1
These Realtek chips have broken EEPROM emulator which for N-byte read
operation returns just the first byte of EEPROM data, followed by N-1
zeros.
Introduce a new function, sfp_id_needs_byte_io(), which detects SFP modules
with broken EEPROM emulator based on N-1 zeros and switch to 1 byte EEPROM
reading operation.
Function sfp_i2c_read() now always uses single byte reading when it is
required and when function sfp_hwmon_probe() detects single byte access,
it disables registration of hwmon device, because in this case we cannot
reliably and atomically read 2 bytes as is required by the standard for
retrieving values from diagnostic area.
(These Realtek chips are broken in a way that violates SFP standards for
diagnostic interface. Kernel in this case simply cannot do anything less
of skipping registration of the hwmon interface.)
This patch fixes reading of EEPROM content from SFP modules based on
Realtek RTL8672 and RTL9601C chips. Diagnostic interface of EEPROM stays
broken and cannot be fixed.

SmartEEE for the atheros phy was deemed buggy by Freescale and commits
were added to disable it for their boards.
In initial testing, SolidRun found that the default settings were
causing disconnects but by increasing the Tw buffer time we could allow
enough time for all parts of the link to come out of a low power state
and function properly without causing a disconnect. This allows us to
have functional power savings of between 300 and 400mW, rather than
disabling the feature altogether.
This commit adds support for disabling SmartEEE and configuring the Tw
parameters for 1G and 100M speeds.

This bit is enabled by default and advertises support for extended
next page support. XNP is only needed for 10GBase-T and MultiGig
support which is not supported. Additionally, Cisco MultiGig switches
will read this bit and attempt 10Gb negotiation even though Next Page
support is disabled. This will cause timeouts when the interface is
forced to 100Mbps and auto-negotiation will fail. The interfaces are
only 1000Base-T and supporting auto-negotiation for this only requires
the Next Page bit to be set.

Add debugfs support to SFP so that the internal state of the SFP state
machines and hardware signal state can be viewed from userspace, rather
than having to compile a debug kernel to view state transitions in the
kernel log. The 'state' output looks like:

The SFP MSA defines two option bits in byte 65 to indicate how the
Rx_LOS signal on SFP pin 8 behaves:
bit 2 - Loss of Signal implemented, signal inverted from standard
definition in SFP MSA (often called "Signal Detect").
bit 1 - Loss of Signal implemented, signal as defined in SFP MSA
(often called "Rx_LOS").
Clearly, setting both bits results in a meaningless situation: it would
mean that LOS is implemented in both the normal sense (1 = signal loss)
and inverted sense (0 = signal loss).
Unfortunately, there are modules out there which set both bits, which
will be initially interpret as "inverted" sense, and then, if the LOS
signal changes state, we will toggle between LINK_UP and WAIT_LOS
states.
Change our LOS handling to give well defined behaviour: only interpret
these bits as meaningful if exactly one is set, otherwise treat it as
if LOS is not implemented.

Switch to lockdep_assert_held(_once), similar to what is being done
in other subsystems. One advantage is that there's zero runtime
overhead if lockdep support isn't enabled.

The KS8851 has a reduced internal PHY, which is accessible through its
registers at offset 0xe4. The PHY is compatible with KS886x PHY present
in Micrel switches, including the PHY ID Low/High registers swap, which
is present both in the MAC and the switch.

Do not check the encoding when deriving 1000BASE-X from the bitrate
when no other modes are discovered. Some GPON modules (VSOL V2801F
and CarlitoxxPro CPGOS03-0490 v2.0) indicate NRZ encoding with a
1200Mbaud bitrate, but should be driven with 1000BASE-X on the host
side.

Add a workaround for the detection of VSOL V2801F / CarlitoxxPro
CPGOS03-0490 v2.0 GPON module which CarlitoxxPro states needs single
byte I2C reads to the EEPROM.
Pali Rohár reports that he also has a CarlitoxxPro-based V2801F module,
which reports a manufacturer of "OEM". This manufacturer can't be
matched as it appears in many different modules, so also match the part
number too.

The rtl8211f supports downshift and before commit 5502b218e0
("net: phy: use phy_resolve_aneg_linkmode in genphy_read_status")
the read-back of register MII_CTRL1000 was used to detect the
negotiated link speed.
The code added in commit d445dff2df ("net: phy: realtek: read
actual speed to detect downshift") is working fine also for this
phy and it's trivial re-using it to restore the downshift
detection on rtl8211f.
Add the phy specific read_status() pointing to the existing
function rtlgen_read_status().

Now that all the PHY drivers have been migrated to directly implement
the generic .handle_interrupt() callback for a seamless support of
shared IRQs and all the .config_inter() implementations clear any
pending interrupts, we can safely remove the two callbacks.
With this patch, phylib has a proper support for shared IRQs (and not
just for multi-PHY devices. A PHY driver must implement both the
.handle_interrupt() and .config_intr() callbacks for the IRQs to be
actually used.

called from (phy_enable_interrupts and phy_disable_interrupts), with
equivalent functionality.
This means that clearing interrupts now becomes something that the PHY
driver is responsible of doing, before enabling interrupts and after
clearing them. Make this driver follow the new contract.
Also, add a comment describing the multiple step interrupt
acknoledgement process.

The mdio_bus may have dependencies from GPIO controller and so got
deferred. Now it will print error message every time -EPROBE_DEFER is
returned which from:
__mdiobus_register()
|-devm_gpiod_get_optional()
without actually identifying error code.
"mdio_bus 4a101000.mdio: mii_bus 4a101000.mdio couldn't get reset GPIO"
Hence, suppress error message for devm_gpiod_get_optional() returning
-EPROBE_DEFER case by using dev_err_probe().

In preparation of removing the .ack_interrupt() callback, we must replace
its occurrences (aka phy_clear_interrupt), from the 2 places where it is
called from (phy_enable_interrupts and phy_disable_interrupts), with
equivalent functionality.
This means that clearing interrupts now becomes something that the PHY
driver is responsible of doing, before enabling interrupts and after
clearing them. Make this driver follow the new contract.

In an attempt to actually support shared IRQs in phylib, we now move the
responsibility of triggering the phylib state machine or just returning
IRQ_NONE, based on the IRQ status register, to the PHY driver. Having
3 different IRQ handling callbacks (.handle_interrupt(),
.did_interrupt() and .ack_interrupt() ) is confusing so let the PHY
driver implement directly an IRQ handler like any other device driver.
Make this driver follow the new convention.
