044012b520 can: usb: esd_usb2: esd_usb2_rx_event(): fix the interchange of the CAN RX and TX error counters
This patch fixes the interchanged fetch of the CAN RX and TX error
counters from the ESD_EV_CAN_ERROR_EXT message. The RX error counter
is really in struct rx_msg::data[2] and the TX error counter is in
struct rx_msg::data[3].

387da6bc7a can: c_can: cache frames to operate as a true FIFO
As reported by a comment in the c_can_start_xmit() this was not a FIFO.
C/D_CAN controller sends out the buffers prioritized so that the lowest
buffer number wins.

What did c_can_start_xmit() do if head was less tail in the tx ring ? It
waited until all the frames queued in the FIFO was actually transmitted
by the controller before accepting a new CAN frame to transmit, even if
the FIFO was not full, to ensure that the messages were transmitted in
the order in which they were loaded.

By storing the frames in the FIFO without requiring its transmission, we
will be able to use the full size of the FIFO even in cases such as the
one described above. The transmission interrupt will trigger their
transmission only when all the messages previously loaded but stored in
less priority positions of the buffers have been transmitted.

28e86e9ab5 can: c_can: support tx ring algorithm
The algorithm is already used successfully by other CAN drivers
(e.g. mcp251xfd). Its implementation was kindly suggested to me by
Marc Kleine-Budde following a patch I had previously submitted. You can
find every detail at https://lore.kernel.org/patchwork/patch/1422929/.

The idea is that after this patch, it will be easier to patch the driver
to use the message object memory as a true FIFO.

a54cdbba9d can: c_can: exit c_can_do_tx() early if no frames have been sent
The c_can_poll() handles RX/TX events unconditionally. It may therefore
happen that c_can_do_tx() is called unnecessarily because the interrupt
was triggered by the reception of a frame. In these cases, we avoid to
execute unnecessary statements and exit immediately.

05cb2ba4b2 can: c_can: rename IF_RX -> IF_NAPI
The C_CAN/D_CAN cores implement 2 interfaces to manage the message
objects. To avoid concurrency and the need for locking one interface
is used in the TX path (IF_TX). While the other one, named IF_RX is
used from NAPI context only. As this interface is not only used to
manage RX, but also TX message objects, this patch renames IF_RX to
IF_NAPI.

1aa6772f64 can: m_can: Batch FIFO reads during CAN receive
On peripherals communicating over a relatively slow SPI line
(e.g. tcan4x5x), individual transfers have high fixed costs.
This causes the driver to spend most of its time waiting between
transfers and severely limits throughput.

Reduce these overheads by reading more than one word at a time.
Writing could get a similar treatment in follow-on commits.

e39381770e can: m_can: Disable IRQs on FIFO bus errors
If FIFO reads or writes fail due to the underlying regmap (e.g., SPI)
I/O, propagate that up to the m_can driver, log an error, and disable
interrupts, similar to the mcp251xfd driver.

While reworking the FIFO functions to add this error handling,
add support for bulk reads and writes of multiple registers.

76e9353a80 can: rcar_canfd: Add support for RZ/G2L family
CANFD block on RZ/G2L SoC is almost identical to one found on
R-Car Gen3 SoC's. On RZ/G2L SoC interrupt sources for each channel
are split into different sources and the IP doesn't divide (1/2)
CANFD clock within the IP.

This patch adds compatible string for RZ/G2L family and splits
the irq handlers to accommodate both RZ/G2L and R-Car Gen3 SoC's.

e43aaa0fef can: netlink: allow user to turn off unsupported features
The sanity checks on the control modes will reject any request related
to an unsupported features, even turning it off.

Example on an interface which does not support CAN-FD:

$ ip link set can0 type can bitrate 500000 fd off
RTNETLINK answers: Operation not supported

This patch lets such command go through (but requests to turn on an
unsupported feature are, of course, still denied).

6e86a1543c can: dev: provide optional GPIO based termination support
For CAN buses to work, a termination resistor has to be present at both
ends of the bus. This resistor is usually 120 Ohms, other values may be
required for special bus topologies.

This patch adds support for a generic GPIO based CAN termination. The
resistor value has to be specified via device tree, and it can only be
attached to or detached from the bus. By default the termination is not
active.

aae32b784e can: m_can: m_can_set_bittiming(): fix setting M_CAN_DBTP register

In esd_usb2_setup_rx_urbs() MAX_RX_URBS coherent buffers are allocated
and there is nothing, that frees them:

1) In callback function the urb is resubmitted and that's all
2) In disconnect function urbs are simply killed, but URB_FREE_BUFFER
   is not set (see esd_usb2_setup_rx_urbs) and this flag cannot be used
   with coherent buffers.

So, all allocated buffers should be freed with usb_free_coherent()
explicitly.

Side note: This code looks like a copy-paste of other can drivers. The
same patch was applied to mcba_usb driver and it works nice with real
hardware. There is no change in functionality, only clean-up code for
coherent buffers.

fc43fb69a7 can: mcba_usb_start(): add missing urb->transfer_dma initialization
Yasushi reported, that his Microchip CAN Analyzer stopped working
since commit 91c0255717 ("can: mcba_usb: fix memory leak in
mcba_usb"). The problem was in missing urb->transfer_dma
initialization.

In my previous patch to this driver I refactored mcba_usb_start() code
to avoid leaking usb coherent buffers. To archive it, I passed local
stack variable to usb_alloc_coherent() and then saved it to private
array to correctly free all coherent buffers on ->close() call. But I
forgot to initialize urb->transfer_dma with variable passed to
usb_alloc_coherent().

All of this was causing device to not work, since dma addr 0 is not
valid and following log can be found on bug report page, which points
exactly to problem described above.

d9cead75b1 can: flexcan: add mcf5441x support
Add flexcan support for NXP ColdFire mcf5441x family.

This flexcan module is quite similar to imx6 flexcan module, but
with some exceptions:

- 3 separate interrupt sources, MB, BOFF and ERR,
- implements 16 mb only,
- m68k architecture is not supporting devicetrees, so a
  platform data check/case has been added,
- ColdFire is m68k, so big-endian cpu, with a little-endian flexcan
  module.

f4f5247daa can: etas_es58x: rewrite the message cast in es58{1,_fd}_tx_can_msg to increase readability
The es581_tx_can_msg() does below cast:
|	tx_can_msg = (struct es581_4_tx_can_msg *)
|	    &es581_4_urb_cmd->bulk_tx_can_msg.tx_can_msg_buf[msg_len - 1];

The -1 offset is to skip the first member of struct
es581_4_tx_can_msg. However, es581_4_urb_cmd already has a raw_msg
field which can be used instead without the use of an offset
calculation.

The function es58x_fd_tx_can_msg() is also modified to mirror
es581_tx_can_msg().

3a7939495c can: peak_usb: PCAN-USB: add support of loopback and one-shot mode
The CAN - USB PCAN-USB interface is able to generate one-shot frames
as well as loopback frames that it transmits starting from version 4.1
of its firmware.

This patch adds support for the one-shot and loopback functionality to
the driver, that can be activated if the embedded firmware allows it.
If the driver detects that the PCAN-USB device runs an old firmware
(< 4.1) it prints a message suggesting to contact
<support@peak-system.com> for a possible firmware update.

0ddd83fbeb can: m_can: remove support for custom bit timing
Since commit aee2b3ccc8 ("can: tcan4x5x: fix bittiming const, use
common bittiming from m_can driver") there is no use of the device
specific bit timing parameters (m_can_classdev::bit_timing and struct
m_can_classdev::data_timing).

This patch removes the support for custom bit timing from the driver,
as the common bit timing works for all known IP core implementations.

and reuse the previously input data bit timing values:

30bfec4fec can: rx-offload: can_rx_offload_threaded_irq_finish(): add new function to be called from threaded interrupt
After reading all CAN frames from the controller in the IRQ handler
and storing them into a skb_queue, the driver calls napi_schedule().
In the napi poll function the skb from the skb_queue are then pushed
into the networking stack.

However if napi_schedule() is called from a threaded IRQ handler this
triggers the following error:

| NOHZ tick-stop error: Non-RCU local softirq work is pending, handler #08!!!

To avoid this, create a new rx-offload
function (can_rx_offload_threaded_irq_finish()) with a call to
local_bh_disable()/local_bh_enable() around the napi_schedule() call.

Convert all drivers that call can_rx_offload_irq_finish() from
threaded IRQ context to can_rx_offload_threaded_irq_finish().

Adding a skb to the skb_queue in rx-offload requires to take a lock.

This commit avoids this by adding an unlocked skb queue that is
appended at the end of the ISR. Having one lock at the end of the ISR

In case an error occurred in the IRQ handler, the chip status is
dumped via devcoredump and all IRQs are disabled, but the chip stays
powered for further analysis.

The chip is in an undefined state and will not receive any CAN frames,
so shut down the timestamping worker, which reads the TBC register
regularly, too. This avoids any CRC read error messages if there is a
communication problem with the chip.

Rather than just indicating that transmission can start, this patch
requires the explicit flushing of the network TX queue when the driver
is informed by the device that it can transmit, next to its
configuration.

In this way, if frames have already been written by the application,
they will actually be transmitted.

91c0255717 can: mcba_usb: fix memory leak in mcba_usb
Syzbot reported memory leak in SocketCAN driver for Microchip CAN BUS
Analyzer Tool. The problem was in unfreed usb_coherent.

In mcba_usb_start() 20 coherent buffers are allocated and there is
nothing, that frees them:

1) In callback function the urb is resubmitted and that's all
2) In disconnect function urbs are simply killed, but URB_FREE_BUFFER
   is not set (see mcba_usb_start) and this flag cannot be used with
   coherent buffers.

0f31571668 can: m_can: make TXESC, RXESC config more explicit
Introduce masks for the three RXESC fields (RBDS, F1DS, F0DS) and the
one TXESC field (TBDS). Update m_can_chip_config() to explicitly set all
four fields to the 64-byte option (0x7) (and these defs are renamed to
be more concise).

This is an improvement in maintainability, and also makes it easier to
implement more flexible configuration of the M_CAN buffers in the
future.

e04b2cfe61 can: m_can: m_can_tx_work_queue(): fix tx_skb race condition
The m_can_start_xmit() function checks if the cdev->tx_skb is NULL and
returns with NETDEV_TX_BUSY in case tx_sbk is not NULL.

There is a race condition in the m_can_tx_work_queue(), where first
the skb is send to the driver and then the case tx_sbk is set to NULL.
A TX complete IRQ might come in between and wake the queue, which
results in tx_skb not being cleared yet.

03c427147b can: mcp251x: fix resume from sleep before interface was brought up
Since 8ce8c0abcb the driver queues work via priv->restart_work when
resuming after suspend, even when the interface was not previously
enabled. This causes a null dereference error as the workqueue is only
allocated and initialized in mcp251x_open().

To fix this we move the workqueue init to mcp251x_can_probe() as there
is no reason to do it later and repeat it whenever mcp251x_open() is
called.

During the handling of CAN bus errors, a CAN error SKB is allocated
using alloc_can_err_skb(). Even if the allocation of the SKB fails,
the function continues in order to do the stats handling.

All access to the can_frame pointer (cf) should be guarded by an if
statement:
	if (cf)

However, the increment of the rx_bytes stats:
	netdev->stats.rx_bytes += cf->can_dlc;
dereferences the cf pointer and was not guarded by an if condition
leading to a NULL pointer dereference if the can_err_skb() function
failed.

Replacing the cf->can_dlc by the macro CAN_ERR_DLC (which is the
length of any CAN error frames) solves this NULL pointer dereference.

592bf5a09d can: peak_usb: peak_usb_probe(): make use of driver_info
There's no need to iterate over all supported adapters to find the
struct peak_usb_adapter that describes the currently probed devices's
capabilities. The driver core gives us the information for free, if we
assign it to the struct usb_device_id::driver_info.

This patch assigns the usb_device_id::driver_info and converts
peak_usb_probe() to make use of it. This reduces the driver size by
100 bytes on ARCH=arm.

c7eb923c3c can: mcp251xfd: mcp251xfd_regmap_crc_read(): work around broken CRC on TBC register
MCP251XFD_REG_TBC is the time base counter register. It increments
once per SYS clock tick, which is 20 or 40 MHz. Observation shows that
if the lowest byte (which is transferred first on the SPI bus) of that
register is 0x00 or 0x80 the calculated CRC doesn't always match the
transferred one.

To reproduce this problem let the driver read the TBC register in a
high frequency. This can be done by attaching only the mcp251xfd CAN
controller to a valid terminated CAN bus and send a single CAN frame.
As there are no other CAN controller on the bus, the sent CAN frame is
not ACKed and the mcp251xfd repeats it. If user space enables the bus
error reporting, each of the NACK errors is reported with a time
stamp (which is read from the TBC register) to user space.

This leads to several error messages per second:

If the highest bit in the lowest byte is flipped the transferred CRC
matches the calculated one. We assume for now the CRC calculation in
the chip works on wrong data and the transferred data is correct.

This patch implements the following workaround:

- If a CRC read error on the TBC register is detected and the lowest
  byte is 0x00 or 0x80, the highest bit of the lowest byte is flipped
  and the CRC is calculated again.
- If the CRC now matches, the _original_ data is passed to the reader.
  For now we assume transferred data was OK.

for peripherals (i.e. SPI based m_can controllers) was converted to
the rx-offload infrastructure. However, the error handling for
can_rx_offload_queue_sorted() was forgotten.
can_rx_offload_queue_sorted() will return with an error if the
internal queue is full.

This patch adds the missing error handling, by increasing the
rx_fifo_errors.

The handling of CAN bus errors typically consist of allocating a CAN
error SKB using alloc_can_err_skb() followed by stats handling and
filling the error details in the newly allocated CAN error SKB. Even
if the allocation of the SKB fails the stats handling should not be
skipped.

The common pattern in CAN drivers is to allocate the skb and work on
the struct can_frame pointer "cf", if it has been assigned by
alloc_can_err_skb().

Some SPI host controllers do not support full-duplex SPI transfers.

The function mcp251x_spi_trans() does a full duplex transfer. It is
used in several places in the driver, where a TX half duplex transfer
is sufficient.

To fix support for half duplex SPI host controllers, this patch
introduces a new function mcp251x_spi_write() and changes all callers
that do a TX half duplex transfer to use mcp251x_spi_write().

132f2d45fb can: c_can: add support to 64 message objects
D_CAN controller supports 16, 32, 64 or 128 message objects, comparing
to 32 on C_CAN. AM335x/AM437x Sitara processors and DRA7 SOC all
instantiate a D_CAN controller with 64 message objects, as described
in the "DCAN features" subsection of the CAN chapter of their
technical reference manuals.

The driver policy has been kept unchanged, and as in the previous
version, the first half of the message objects is used for reception
and the second for transmission.

The I/O load is increased only in the case of 64 message objects,
keeping it unchanged in the case of 32. Two 32-bit read accesses are
in fact required, which however remained at 16-bit for configurations
with 32 message objects.

13831ce69c can: c_can: prepare to up the message objects number
As pointed by commit c0a9f4d396 ("can: c_can: Reduce register
access") the "driver casts the 16 message objects in stone, which is
completely braindead as contemporary hardware has up to 128 message
objects".

The patch prepares the module to extend the number of message objects
beyond the 32 currently managed. This was achieved by transforming the
constants used to manage RX/TX messages into variables without
changing the driver policy.

efd8d98dfb can: mcp251xfd: add HW timestamp infrastructure
This patch add the HW timestamping infrastructure. The mcp251xfd has a
free running timer of 32 bit width, running at max 40MHz, which wraps
around every 107 seconds. The current timestamp is latched into RX and
TEF objects automatically be the CAN controller.

This patch sets up a cyclecounter, timecounter and delayed worker
infrastructure (which runs every 45 seconds) to convert the timer into
a proper 64 bit based ns timestamp.

the setting of the UINC bit in the TEF and RX FIFO was batched into a
single SPI message consisting of several transfers. All transfers but
the last need to have the cs_change set to 1.

In the original patches the array of prepared transfers is send from
the beginning with the length depending on the number of read TEF/RX
objects. The cs_change of the last transfer is temporarily set to
0 during send.

This patch removes the modification of cs_change by preparing the last
transfer with cs_change to 0 and all other to 1. When sending the SPI
message the driver now starts with an offset into the array, so that
it always ends on the last entry in the array, which has the cs_change
set to 0.

e0ab3dd5f9 can: mcp251xfd: add dev coredump support
For easier debugging this patch adds dev coredump support to the
driver. A dev coredump is generated in case the chip fails to start or
an error in the interrupt handler is detected.

The dev coredump consists of all chip registers and chip memory, as
well as the driver's internal state of the TEF-, RX- and TX-FIFOs, it
can be analyzed with the mcp251xfd-dump tool of the can-utils:

1be37d3b04 can: m_can: fix periph RX path: use rx-offload to ensure skbs are sent from softirq context
For peripheral devices, m_can sent skbs directly from a threaded irq
instead of from a softirq context, breaking the tcan4x5x peripheral
driver completely. This patch transitions the driver to use the
rx-offload helper for peripherals, ensuring the skbs are sent from the
correct context, with h/w timestamping to ensure correct ordering.

df06fd6782 can: m_can: m_can_chip_config(): enable and configure internal timestamps
This is a prerequisite for transitioning the m_can driver to rx-offload,
which works best with TX and RX timestamps.

The timestamps provided by M_CAN are 16-bit, timed according to the
nominal bit timing, and may be prescaled by a multiplier up to 16. We
choose the highest prescalar so that the timestamp wraps every 2^20 bit
times, or 209 ms at a bus speed of 5 Mbit/s. Timestamps will have a
precision of 16 bit times.
