883c84aca1 media: dvb-ttusb-budget: cleanup printk logic
Instead of calling printk(), use pr_foo() macros.

While here, do some cleanup at the printed messages, as some
has __func__, while others have the module name (sometimes
spelled as "ttusb_dvb").

    drivers/media/usb/ttusb-budget/dvb-ttusb-budget.c:430 ttusb_init_controller() error: doing dma on the stack (get_version)

This driver still uses the USB stack for DMA transfers,
which is broken for a long time. I almost dropped this driver,
as there's a high chance that nobody is using it with upstream
Kernels, as we didn't receive any bug reports.

As fixing this won't be hard, I ended opting to fix.

While here, I dropped an ugly hack that implemented read via
a separate function that was just doing a memcpy().

It should be noticed that, during the init phase, there's
a "b4" register that were never initialized, as its buffer
were used just to store the results of "b3" initialization.

3c9c3902e3 tm6000: drop unnecessary list_empty
list_for_each_entry is able to handle an empty list.
The only effect of avoiding the loop is not initializing the
index variable.
Drop list_empty tests in cases where these variables are not
used.

Note that list_for_each_entry is defined in terms of list_first_entry,
which indicates that it should not be used on an empty list. But in
list_for_each_entry, the element obtained by list_first_entry is not
really accessed, only the address of its list_head field is compared
to the address of the list head, so the list_first_entry is safe.

The semantic patch that makes this change is as follows:

7cd08d6eed media: usb: pwc: pwc.h: Replace zero-length array with flexible-array member
The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language
extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare
variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2],
introduced in C99:

struct foo {
        int stuff;
        struct boo array[];
};

By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning
in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which
will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being
inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on.

Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by
this change:

"Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator
may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of
zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1]

This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle.

a3b91d8bd1 media: Kconfig: better support hybrid TV devices
Right now, if one has an hybrid TV card, it has to select
both analog and digital TV support, as otherwise the needed
core support won't be selected.

Change the logic to auto-select the core support for those
drivers, as this is a way more intuitive.

It should be noticed that, as now both DVB_CORE and VIDEO_DEV
defaults depends on selecting a hybrid cards, we had to remove
the explicit dependencies there, in order to avoid circular
dependencies.

That requires some tricks:

1) the prompt should not be not visible when an hybrid card
   is selected, as the user shold not change it.

2) When a media hybrid device is selected, the modular
   option for DVB_CORE and VIDEO_DEV will follow the
   MEDIA_SUPPORT dependency, as we can't have a core
   built with "y" with a driver built as module.

Note: while here, moved two pure V4L2 PCI drivers out of the
"hybrid" part of config and consider pvrusb2 as an hybrid
device.

aa9eda7612 media: pulse8-cec: close serio in disconnect, not adap_free
The serio_close() call was moved to pulse8_cec_adap_free(),
but that can be too late if that is called after the serio
core pulled down the serio already, in which case you get
a kernel oops.

Keep it in the disconnect().

34a818882e media: pulse8-cec: INIT_DELAYED_WORK was called too late
If earlier in the connect() an error occurred, then pulse8_cec_adap_free
was called by cec_delete_adapter, and that free function tried to
cancel the ping_eeprom_work workqueue, but that workqueue hasn't
been initialized yet, resulting in a kernel warning.

Move the initialization of that workqueue up to where the other
workqueues are initialized.

Looking into the output from usbmon, the interesting part is the
following data packet:

  ffff880069c63e00 30710169 C Ci:1:002:0 0 143 = 09028f00 01030080
  00090403 00000e01 00000924 03000103 7c003328 010204db

If we drop the lead configuration and interface descriptors, we're left
with an output terminal descriptor describing a generic display:

  /* Output terminal descriptor */
  buf[0]	09
  buf[1]	24
  buf[2]	03	/* UVC_VC_OUTPUT_TERMINAL */
  buf[3]	00	/* ID */
  buf[4]	01	/* type == 0x0301 (UVC_OTT_DISPLAY) */
  buf[5]	03
  buf[6]	7c
  buf[7]	00	/* source ID refers to self! */
  buf[8]	33

The problem with this descriptor is that it is self-referential: the
source ID of 0 matches itself! This causes the 'struct uvc_entity'
representing the display to be added to its chain list twice during
'uvc_scan_chain()': once via 'uvc_scan_chain_entity()' when it is
processed directly from the 'dev->entities' list and then again
immediately afterwards when trying to follow the source ID in
'uvc_scan_chain_forward()'

Add a check before adding an entity to a chain list to ensure that the
entity is not already part of a chain.

7f404ae9cf media: pvrusb2: Fix oops on tear-down when radio support is not present
In some device configurations there's no radio or radio support in the
driver. That's OK, as the driver sets itself up accordingly. However
on tear-down in these caes it's still trying to tear down radio
related context when there isn't anything there, leading to
dereferences through a null pointer and chaos follows.

How this bug survived unfixed for 11 years in the pvrusb2 driver is a
mystery to me.

9e08117c9d media: usbvision: Fix races among open, close, and disconnect
Visual inspection of the usbvision driver shows that it suffers from
three races between its open, close, and disconnect handlers. In
particular, the driver is careful to update its usbvision->user and
usbvision->remove_pending flags while holding the private mutex, but:

	usbvision_v4l2_close() and usbvision_radio_close() don't hold
	the mutex while they check the value of
	usbvision->remove_pending;

	usbvision_disconnect() doesn't hold the mutex while checking
	the value of usbvision->user; and

	also, usbvision_v4l2_open() and usbvision_radio_open() don't
	check whether the device has been unplugged before allowing
	the user to open the device files.

Each of these can potentially lead to usbvision_release() being called
twice and use-after-free errors.

This patch fixes the races by reading the flags while the mutex is
still held and checking for pending removes before allowing an open to
succeed.

c7a1914640 media: usbvision: Fix invalid accesses after device disconnect
The syzbot fuzzer found two invalid-access bugs in the usbvision
driver. These bugs occur when userspace keeps the device file open
after the device has been disconnected and usbvision_disconnect() has
set usbvision->dev to NULL:

	When the device file is closed, usbvision_radio_close() tries
	to issue a usb_set_interface() call, passing the NULL pointer
	as its first argument.

	If userspace performs a querycap ioctl call, vidioc_querycap()
	calls usb_make_path() with the same NULL pointer.

This patch fixes the problems by making the appropriate tests
beforehand. Note that vidioc_querycap() is protected by
usbvision->v4l2_lock, acquired in a higher layer of the V4L2
subsystem.

771560e5d3 media: media/usb: Use kmemdup rather than duplicating its implementation
kmemdup is introduced to duplicate a region of memory in a neat way.
Rather than kmalloc/kzalloc + memcpy, which the programmer needs to
write the size twice (sometimes lead to mistakes), kmemdup improves
readability, leads to smaller code and also reduce the chances of mistakes.
Suggestion to use kmemdup rather than using kmalloc/kzalloc + memcpy.

14e3cdbb00 media: don't drop front-end reference count for ->detach
A bugfix introduce a link failure in configurations without CONFIG_MODULES:

In file included from drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb/pctv452e.c:20:0:
drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb/pctv452e.c: In function 'pctv452e_frontend_attach':
drivers/media/dvb-frontends/stb0899_drv.h:151:36: error: weak declaration of 'stb0899_attach' being applied to a already existing, static definition

The problem is that the !IS_REACHABLE() declaration of stb0899_attach()
is a 'static inline' definition that clashes with the weak definition.

I further observed that the bugfix was only done for one of the five users
of stb0899_attach(), the other four still have the problem. This reverts
the bugfix and instead addresses the problem by not dropping the reference
count when calling '->detach()', instead we call this function directly
in dvb_frontend_put() before dropping the kref on the front-end.

I first submitted this in early 2018, and after some discussion it
was apparently discarded. While there is a long-term plan in place,
that plan is obviously not nearing completion yet, and the current
kernel is still broken unless this patch is applied.

b61789f53d media: drivers/media: don't set pix->priv = 0
The priv field of struct v4l2_pix_format shouldn't be set by drivers,
it's set by the v4l2 core instead to V4L2_PIX_FMT_PRIV_MAGIC.

Note that the gspca patch is slightly more involved since some of the

765bb8610d media: dib0700: fix link error for dibx000_i2c_set_speed
When CONFIG_DVB_DIB9000 is disabled, we can still compile code that
now fails to link against dibx000_i2c_set_speed:

drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb/dib0700_devices.o: In function `dib01x0_pmu_update.constprop.7':
dib0700_devices.c:(.text.unlikely+0x1c9c): undefined reference to `dibx000_i2c_set_speed'

The call sites are both through dib01x0_pmu_update(), which gets passed
an 'i2c' pointer from dib9000_get_i2c_master(), which has returned
NULL. Checking this pointer seems to be a good idea anyway, and it avoids
the link failure in most cases.

Sean Young found another case that is not fixed by that, where certain
gcc versions leave an unused function in place that causes the link error,
but adding an explict IS_ENABLED() check also solves this.

6bc5a4a192 media: hdpvr: fix locking and a missing msleep
This driver has three locking issues:

- The wait_event_interruptible() condition calls hdpvr_get_next_buffer(dev)
  which uses a mutex, which is not allowed. Rewrite with list_empty_careful()
  that doesn't need locking.

- In hdpvr_read() the call to hdpvr_stop_streaming() didn't lock io_mutex,
  but it should have since stop_streaming expects that.

- In hdpvr_device_release() io_mutex was locked when calling flush_work(),
  but there it shouldn't take that mutex since the work done by flush_work()
  also wants to lock that mutex.

There are also two other changes (suggested by Keith):

- msecs_to_jiffies(4000); (a NOP) should have been msleep(4000).
- Change v4l2_dbg to v4l2_info to always log if streaming had to be restarted.

458f69ef36 docs: timers: convert docs to ReST and rename to *.rst
The conversion here is really trivial: just a bunch of title
markups and very few puntual changes is enough to make it to
be parsed by Sphinx and generate a nice html.

The conversion is actually:
  - add blank lines and identation in order to identify paragraphs;
  - fix tables markups;
  - add some lists markups;
  - mark literal blocks;
  - adjust title markups.

At its new index.rst, let's add a :orphan: while this is not linked to
the main index.rst file, in order to avoid build warnings.

2f4c533499 SPDX update for 5.2-rc3, round 1
Here is another set of reviewed patches that adds SPDX tags to different
 kernel files, based on a set of rules that are being used to parse the
 comments to try to determine that the license of the file is
 "GPL-2.0-or-later" or "GPL-2.0-only". Only the "obvious" versions of
 these matches are included here, a number of "non-obvious" variants of
 text have been found but those have been postponed for later review and
 analysis.

 There is also a patch in here to add the proper SPDX header to a bunch
 of Kbuild files that we have missed in the past due to new files being
 added and forgetting that Kbuild uses two different file names for
 Makefiles. This issue was reported by the Kbuild maintainer.

 These patches have been out for review on the linux-spdx@vger mailing
 list, and while they were created by automatic tools, they were
 hand-verified by a bunch of different people, all whom names are on the
 patches are reviewers.

1753c7c436 media: pvrusb2: use a different format for warnings
When the pvrusb2 driver detects that there's something wrong with the
device, it prints a warning message. Right now those message are
printed in two different formats:

1. ***WARNING*** message here
2. WARNING: message here

There's an issue with the second format. Syzkaller recognizes it as a
message produced by a WARN_ON(), which is used to indicate a bug in the
kernel. However pvrusb2 prints those warnings to indicate an issue with
the device, not the bug in the kernel.

This patch changes the pvrusb2 driver to consistently use the first
warning message format. This will unblock syzkaller testing of this
driver.

a47686636d media: smsusb: better handle optional alignment
Most Siano devices require an alignment for the response.

Changeset f3be52b0056a ("media: usb: siano: Fix general protection fault in smsusb")
changed the logic with gets such aligment, but it now produces a
sparce warning:

drivers/media/usb/siano/smsusb.c: In function 'smsusb_init_device':
drivers/media/usb/siano/smsusb.c:447:37: warning: 'in_maxp' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Wmaybe-uninitialized]

      |                             ~~~~~~~~^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The sparse message itself is bogus, but a broken (or fake) USB
eeprom could produce a negative value for response_alignment.

So, change the code in order to check if the result is not
negative.

2f39cce963 media: remove redundant 'default n' from Kconfig-s
'default n' is the default value for any bool or tristate Kconfig
setting so there is no need to write it explicitly.

Also since commit f467c5640c ("kconfig: only write '# CONFIG_FOO
is not set' for visible symbols") the Kconfig behavior is the same
regardless of 'default n' being present or not:

    ...
    One side effect of (and the main motivation for) this change is making
    the following two definitions behave exactly the same:

        config FOO
                bool

        config FOO
                bool
                default n

    With this change, neither of these will generate a
    '# CONFIG_FOO is not set' line (assuming FOO isn't selected/implied).
    That might make it clearer to people that a bare 'default n' is
    redundant.

The syzkaller USB fuzzer found a general-protection-fault bug in the
smsusb part of the Siano DVB driver. The fault occurs during probe
because the driver assumes without checking that the device has both

By slightly rearranging the driver's initialization code, we can make
the appropriate checks early on and thus avoid the problem. If the
expected endpoints aren't present, the new code safely returns -ENODEV

It's supposed to validate user supplied input and return true or false

383b0e5b6e media: au0828: fix enable and disable source audio and video inconsistencies
Enable and disable source interfaces aren't consistent in enforcing
how video and audio share the tuner resource.

Fix these issues to enforce the following rules and allow
sharing between audio and video applications.

- When DVB is streaming, audio/video/vbi/s-video/composite
  should find the resource busy. DVB holds the tuner in
  exclusive mode.
- When video/VBI is streaming, audio can share the tuner and vice versa.
- v4l2 allows multiple applications to open video device.
- Video applications call enable source multiple times during their
  run-time. Resource should stay locked until the last application
  releases it.
- A shared resource should stay in shared state and locked when it is
  in use by audio and video. More than one video application is allowed
  to use the tuner as long as video streaming protocol allows such usage.
  Resource is released when the last video/audio application releases it.
- S-Video and Composite hold the resource in exclusive mode.

812658d88d media: change au0828 to use Media Device Allocator API
Media Device Allocator API to allows multiple drivers share a media device.
This API solves a very common use-case for media devices where one physical
device (an USB stick) provides both audio and video. When such media device
exposes a standard USB Audio class, a proprietary Video class, two or more
independent drivers will share a single physical USB bridge. In such cases,
it is necessary to coordinate access to the shared resource.

Using this API, drivers can allocate a media device with the shared struct
device as the key. Once the media device is allocated by a driver, other
drivers can get a reference to it. The media device is released when all
the references are released.

Change au0828 to use Media Device Allocator API to allocate media device
with the parent usb struct device as the key, so it can be shared with the
snd_usb_audio driver.

4f777d011b media: pwc-ctl: pChoose can't be NULL
The way the code works, compression will be a valid value (less or equal to 3)
on both set_video_mode_foo() calls at the beginning of the while() loop.

So, the value for pChoose can't be NULL.

Solves those smatch warnings:

	drivers/media/usb/pwc/pwc-ctrl.c: drivers/media/usb/pwc/pwc-ctrl.c:252 set_video_mode_Timon() warn: variable dereferenced before check 'pChoose' (see line 248)

and simplifies the code a little bit.

fdfa59cd63 media: dvbsky: Avoid leaking dvb frontend
Commit 14f4eaedda ("media: dvbsky: fix driver unregister logic") fixed
a use-after-free by removing the reference to the frontend after deleting
the backing i2c device.

This has the unfortunate side effect the frontend device is never freed
in the dvb core leaving a dangling device, leading to errors when the
dvb core tries to register the frontend after e.g. a replug as reported
here: https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-media/msg138181.html

media: dvbsky: issues with DVBSky T680CI

[  561.119145] sp2 8-0040: CIMaX SP2 successfully attached

Si2168)...
[ 561.119174] sysfs: cannot create duplicate filename '/class/dvb/
dvb0.frontend0'
===

The use after free happened as dvb_usbv2_disconnect calls in this order:
- dvb_usb_device::props->exit(...)
- dvb_usbv2_adapter_frontend_exit(...)
  + if (fe) dvb_unregister_frontend(fe)
  + dvb_usb_device::props->frontend_detach(...)

Moving the release of the i2c device from exit() to frontend_detach()
avoids the dangling pointer access and allows the core to unregister
the frontend.

This was originally reported for a DVBSky T680CI, but it also affects
the MyGica T230C. As all supported devices structure the registration/
unregistration identically, apply the change for all device types.

e6f8bd59c2 media: gspca: do not resubmit URBs when streaming has stopped
When streaming is stopped all URBs are killed, but in fill_frame and in
bulk_irq this results in an attempt to resubmit the killed URB. That is
not what you want and causes spurious kernel messages.

So check if streaming has stopped before resubmitting.

Also check against gspca_dev->streaming rather than vb2_start_streaming_called()
since vb2_start_streaming_called() will return true when in stop_streaming,
but gspca_dev->streaming is set to false when stop_streaming is called.
