After commit 027b3f8ba9 ("drm/modes: stop
handling framebuffer special") extra fb refs are left around when doing
atomic modesetting.
The problem is that the new drm_property_change_valid_get() does not
return anything in the '**ref' parameter, which causes
drm_property_change_valid_put() to do nothing.
For some reason this doesn't cause problems with legacy API.
Also, previously the code only set the 'ref' variable for fbs, with this
patch the 'ref' is set for all objects.

When setting mode via MODE_ID property,
drm_atomic_set_mode_prop_for_crtc() does not call
drm_mode_set_crtcinfo() which possibly causes:
"[drm:drm_calc_timestamping_constants [drm]] *ERROR* crtc 32: Can't
calculate constants, dotclock = 0!"
Whether the error is seen depends on the previous data in state->mode,
as state->mode is not cleared when setting new mode.
This patch adds drm_mode_set_crtcinfo() call to
drm_mode_convert_umode(), which is called in both legacy and atomic
paths. This should be fine as there's no reason to call
drm_mode_convert_umode() without also setting the crtc related fields.
drm_mode_set_crtcinfo() is removed from the legacy drm_mode_setcrtc() as
that is no longer needed.

It turns out that preserving framebuffers after the rmfb call breaks
vmwgfx userspace. This was originally introduced because it was thought
nobody relied on the behavior, but unfortunately it seems there are
exceptions.
drm_framebuffer_remove may fail with -EINTR now, so a straight revert
is impossible. There is no way to remove the framebuffer from the lists
and active planes without introducing a race because of the different
locking requirements. Instead call drm_framebuffer_remove from a
workqueue, which is unaffected by signals.

Debug logging in this function does not provide any information
apart that the userspace is calling an ioctl on the connector.
There is not any info on the connector provided at all and
since there are other ioctls userspace typically calls which
do log useful things about the same connectors, remove this
one to make things a little bit more readable when KMS debugging
is turned on.

Need to move the free function around a bit, but otherwise mostly
just removing code.
Specifically we can nuke all the _locked variants since the weak idr
reference is now protected by the idr_mutex, which we never hold
anywhere expect in the lookup/reg/unreg functions. And those never
call anything else.
Another benefit of this is that this patch switches the weak reference
logic from kref_put_mutex to kref_get_unless_zero. And the later is in
general more flexible wrt accomodating multiple weak references
protected by different locks, which might or might not come handy
eventually.
But one consequence of that switch is that we need to acquire the
blob_lock from the free function for the list_del calls. That's a bit
tricky to pull off, but works well if we pick the exact same scheme as
is already used for framebuffers. Most important changes:
- filp list is maintainer by create/destroy_blob ioctls directly
(already the case, so we can just remove the redundant list_del from
the free function).
- filp close handler walks the filp-private list lockless - works
because we know no one else can access it. I copied the same comment
from the fb code over to explain this.
- Otherwise we need to sufficiently restrict blob_lock critical
sections to avoid all the unreference calls. Easy to do once the
blob_lock only protects the list, and no longer the weak reference.

Dave Airlie had at least the refcount leak fixed in a later patch (but
that patch does other things which need a bit more work). But we still
have the trouble that silly userspace could hit the WARN_ON in
drm_mode_object_find.
Fix this all up to make sure we don't leak objects, and don't spew
into demsg.

Slipped through the cracks in my review. The one issue I spotted
is that drm_mode_object_find now acquires references and can be
used on FB objects, which caused follow-on bugs in get/set_prop ioctls.
Follow-up patches will fix that.

When we lookup an ref counted object we now take a proper reference
using kref_get_unless_zero.
Framebuffer lookup no longer needs do this itself.
Convert rmfb to using framebuffer lookup and deal with the fact
it now gets an extra reference that we have to cleanup. This should
mean we can avoid holding fb_lock across rmfb. (if I'm wrong let me
know).
We also now only hold the fbs_lock around the list manipulation.

Commit 6c87e5c3ec ("drm: Rename drm_connector_unplug_all() to
drm_connector_unregister_all()") replaced a manual connectors list walk
in drm_connector_unregister_all() with drm_for_each_connector(). The
list was walked without the mode config mutex locked as that ends up in
a clash with sysfs, but drm_connector_unregister_all() warns when the
mutex isn't locked.
The problem is known and doesn't require a large warning every time
drm_connector_unregister_all() is called. Fix it by reverting to manual
list walk.

generic implementation of what is already done in some drivers.
Once this helper is implemented we'll be ready to switch existing
driver-specific implementations with the generic one.

__drm_atomic_helper_plane_destroy_state calls
drm_framebuffer_unreference, which means that if drm_framebuffer_free
is called before plane->destroy freed memory will be accessed.
A similar case happens for the blob list, which was freed before the
crtc state was, resulting in the unreference_blob from crtc_destroy_state
pointing to garbage memory causing another opportunity for a GPF.

Right now exynos is exposing DPI as a TMDS encoder and VGA connector,
which seems rather misleading. This isn't just an internal detail,
since xrandr actually exposes "VGA" as the output name. Define some
new enums so that vc4's DPI can have a more informative name.
I considered other names for the connector as well. For VC4, the
Adafruit DPI kippah takes the 28 GPIO pins and routes them to a
standard-ish 40-pin FPC connector, but "40-pin FPC" doesn't uniquely
identify an ordering of pins (apparently some other orderings exist),
doesn't explain things as well for the user (who, if anything, knows
their product is a DPI kippah/panel combo), and actually doesn't have
to exist (one could connect the 28 GPIOs directly to something else).
Simply "DPI" seems like a good compromise name to distinguish from the
HDMI, DSI, and TV connectors .

Current name is a bit misleading because what that helper function
really does it calls drm_connector_unregister() for all connectors.
This all has nothing to do with hotplugging so let's name things
properly.
And while at it remove potentially dangerous locking around
drm_connector_unregister() in rcar_du_remove() as mentioned
in kerneldoc for drm_connector_unregister_all().

Patch based on a previous series by Shashank Sharma.
This introduces optional properties to enable color correction at the
pipe level. It relies on 3 transformations applied to every pixels
displayed. First a lookup into a degamma table, then a multiplication
of the rgb components by a 3x3 matrix and finally another lookup into
a gamma table.
The following properties can be added to a pipe :
- DEGAMMA_LUT : blob containing degamma LUT
- DEGAMMA_LUT_SIZE : number of elements in DEGAMMA_LUT
- CTM : transformation matrix applied after the degamma LUT
- GAMMA_LUT : blob containing gamma LUT
- GAMMA_LUT_SIZE : number of elements in GAMMA_LUT
DEGAMMA_LUT_SIZE and GAMMA_LUT_SIZE are read only properties, set by
the driver to tell userspace applications what sizes should be the
lookup tables in DEGAMMA_LUT and GAMMA_LUT.
A helper is also provided so legacy gamma correction is redirected
through these new properties.

Because we record connector_mask using 1 << drm_connector_index now
the connector_mask should stay the same even when other connectors
are removed. This was not the case with MST, in that case when removing
a connector all other connectors may change their index.
This is fixed by waiting until the first get_connector_state to allocate
connector_state, and force reallocation when state is too small.
As a side effect connector arrays no longer have to be preallocated,
and can be allocated on first use which means a less allocations in
the page flip only path.

An encoder is associated with a connector by the DRM core as a result of
setting up a configuration. Drivers using the atomic or legacy helpers
should never set up this link, even if it is a static one.
While at it, try to catch this kind of error in the future by adding a
WARN_ON() in drm_mode_connector_attach_encoder(). Note that this doesn't
cover all the cases, since drivers could set this up after attaching.
Drivers that use the atomic helpers will get a warning later on, though,
so hopefully the two combined cover enough to help people avoid this in
the future.

Show a sensible name for the plane in debug mesages. The driver
may supply its own name, otherwise the core genrates the name
("plane-0", "plane-1" etc.).

We always register the DPMS property, it's really a fundamental
part of a display driver. So don't check whether the vfunc is there,
it's non-optional
Yes I've audited all the almost 100 drm_connector_funcs we have, no
one botched this ;-)

Drivers shouldn't clobber the passed in addfb ioctl parameters.
i915 was doing just that. To prevent it from happening again,
pass the struct around as const, starting all the way from
internal_framebuffer_create().

On atomic drivers we can dig out the primary plane rotation from the
plane state instead of looking at the legacy crtc->invert_dimensions
flag. The flag is not set by anyone except omapdrm, and it would be
racy to set it the same way in the atomic helpers.

In its original version, drm_framebuffer_init() returned a negative int
if drm_mode_object_get() failed (f453ba0460, "DRM: add mode setting
support").
This was accidentally disabled by commit 4b096ac10d ("drm: revamp
locking around fb creation/destruction"). Thus, drm_framebuffer_init()
pretends success if drm_mode_object_get() failed.
Reinstate the original behaviour. Also fix erroneous kernel-doc of
drm_mode_object_get().

Keep the fb_id, which means that any application exiting without
unsetting the framebuffer from all planes will preserve its contents.
This is similar to preserving the initial framebuffer, except all
planes are preserved.

Previously RMFB and fd close chose to disable any plane that had
an active framebuffer from this file. If it was a primary plane the
crtc was disabled. However the fbdev code or any system compositor
should restore the planes anyway so there's no need to do it twice.
The old fb_id is zero'd, so there's no danger of being able to
restore the fb from fb_id.

This may cause issues because encoders are already destroyed so removing
active primaries may use freed memory. Instead free the fb directly,
ignoring refcount.

These functions are used by drivers to release fbdev emulation
buffers. We need to make them resilient to NULL pointers to
make the fbdev compile/runtime knobs not cause Oopses on module
unload.

drm: Check locking in drm_for_each_connector
we started checking the locking in drm_for_each_connector but somehow
I totally missed drm_mode_config_reset. There's no problem there since
this function should only be called in single-threaded contexts
(driver load or resume), so just wrap the loop with the right lock.

This is required to properly handle failing dpms calls.
When making a wait in i915 interruptible, I've noticed
that the dpms sequence could fail with -ERESTARTSYS because
it was waiting interruptibly for flips. So from now on
allow drivers to fail in their connector dpms callback.
Encoder and crtc dpms callbacks are unaffected.

connector hotplug locking cleanup and fixes to make it save against
atomic. Note that because of depencies this is based on top of the
drm-intel-next pull, so that one needs to go in before this one.

Two nice things here:
- drm_dev_register will truly register everything in the right order
if the driver doesn't have a ->load callback. Before this we had to
init the primary mode_group after the device nodes where already
registered.

It's been dead code since forever since mode groups haven't ever been
implemented. On top of that it's also been non-functional since we
only ever filtered the getresources ioctl and not any of the others
nor the mode object lookup code.
Given overwhelming evidence it looks like this isn't a feature we
need, hence remove it.

Now that we also grab the connection_mutex and so fixed the race with
atomic modeset we can use the iterator there too.
The other special case is drm_connector_unplug_all which would have a
locking inversion with the sysfs store/show functions if we'd grab the
mode_config.mutex around the unplug. We could just grab
connection_mutex instead, but that's a bit too much a dirty trick for
my taste. Also it's only used by udl, which doesn't do any other kind
of connector hotplugging, so should be race-free. Hence just stick
with a comment for now.

And roll them out across drm_* files. The point here isn't code
prettification (it helps with that too) but that some of these lists
aren't static any more. And having macros will gives us a convenient
place to put locking checks into.
I didn't add an iterator for props since that's only used by a
list_for_each_entry_safe in the driver teardown code.
Search&replace was done with the below cocci spatch. Note that there's
a bunch more places that didn't match and which would need some manual
changes, but I've intentially left these out for this mostly automated
patch.

drm: Lighten sysfs connector 'status'
The original justification for this was that the hpd handlers could
use the unknown state as a hint to force a full detection. But current
i915 code isn't doing that any more, and no one else really uses reset
on resume. So instead just keep the old state around.

Backmerge fixes since it's getting out of hand again with the massive
split due to atomic between -next and 4.2-rc. All the bugfixes in
4.2-rc are addressed already (by converting more towards atomic
instead of minimal duct-tape) so just always pick the version in next
for the conflicts in modeset code.
All the other conflicts are just adjacent lines changed.

legacy setcrtc ioctl does take a 32 bit value which might indeed
overflow
the checks of crtc_req->x > INT_MAX and crtc_req->y > INT_MAX aren't
needed any more with this

The legacy page_flip driver entry point is the only one left which
requires drivers to update plane->fb themselves. All the other entry
hooks will patch things up for the driver as needed since no one seems
to reliable get this right, see e.g. drm_mode_set_config_internal or
the plane->fb/old_fb handling in drm_mode_atomic_ioctl.
Therefore unify things, which allows us to ditch a TODO from
drm_atomic_helper_page_flip.
This should also help the atomic transition in i915 since we keep a
bit of legacy cruft only around because of this special behaviour in
->page_flip.

The drm_property_unreference_blob() function tests whether its argument
is NULL and then returns immediately.
Thus the test around the call is not needed.
This issue was detected by using the Coccinelle software.

The length of each EDID block is EDID_LENGTH, and number of blocks is
(1 + edid->extensions) - we need to multiply not add them.
This causes wrong EDID to be passed on, and is a regression introduced
by d2ed34362a (drm: Introduce helper for replacing blob properties)

Unfortunately old userspace didn't clear this properly, but since
we've added fb modifiers that's fixed. Checking properly that unused
fields is important for abi extensions, and just right now there's a
bunch of discussions going on about how exactly the additional aux
planes for render compression should be specified.
So let's first make sure that the values in those additional fields
can be indeed used.

Add an ioctl which allows users to create blob properties from supplied
data. Currently this only supports modes, creating a drm_display_mode from
the userspace drm_mode_modeinfo.
v2: Removed size/type checks.
Rebased on new patches to allow error propagation from create_blob,
as well as avoiding double-allocation.

Scattering of random drm core patches. Bunch of atomic prep work too, but
the final bits for blob properties, atomic modesets and lifting the
experimental tag on the atomic ioctl are still blocked on Daniel Stone
finalizing and testing the weston support for it. I hope that we can get
it all ready for 4.2 though.
