Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net-next
Pull networking updates from David Miller: 1) The addition of nftables. No longer will we need protocol aware firewall filtering modules, it can all live in userspace. At the core of nftables is a, for lack of a better term, virtual machine that executes byte codes to inspect packet or metadata (arriving interface index, etc.) and make verdict decisions. Besides support for loading packet contents and comparing them, the interpreter supports lookups in various datastructures as fundamental operations. For example sets are supports, and therefore one could create a set of whitelist IP address entries which have ACCEPT verdicts attached to them, and use the appropriate byte codes to do such lookups. Since the interpreted code is composed in userspace, userspace can do things like optimize things before giving it to the kernel. Another major improvement is the capability of atomically updating portions of the ruleset. In the existing netfilter implementation, one has to update the entire rule set in order to make a change and this is very expensive. Userspace tools exist to create nftables rules using existing netfilter rule sets, but both kernel implementations will need to co-exist for quite some time as we transition from the old to the new stuff. Kudos to Patrick McHardy, Pablo Neira Ayuso, and others who have worked so hard on this. 2) Daniel Borkmann and Hannes Frederic Sowa made several improvements to our pseudo-random number generator, mostly used for things like UDP port randomization and netfitler, amongst other things. In particular the taus88 generater is updated to taus113, and test cases are added. 3) Support 64-bit rates in HTB and TBF schedulers, from Eric Dumazet and Yang Yingliang. 4) Add support for new 577xx tigon3 chips to tg3 driver, from Nithin Sujir. 5) Fix two fatal flaws in TCP dynamic right sizing, from Eric Dumazet, Neal Cardwell, and Yuchung Cheng. 6) Allow IP_TOS and IP_TTL to be specified in sendmsg() ancillary control message data, much like other socket option attributes. From Francesco Fusco. 7) Allow applications to specify a cap on the rate computed automatically by the kernel for pacing flows, via a new SO_MAX_PACING_RATE socket option. From Eric Dumazet. 8) Make the initial autotuned send buffer sizing in TCP more closely reflect actual needs, from Eric Dumazet. 9) Currently early socket demux only happens for TCP sockets, but we can do it for connected UDP sockets too. Implementation from Shawn Bohrer. 10) Refactor inet socket demux with the goal of improving hash demux performance for listening sockets. With the main goals being able to use RCU lookups on even request sockets, and eliminating the listening lock contention. From Eric Dumazet. 11) The bonding layer has many demuxes in it's fast path, and an RCU conversion was started back in 3.11, several changes here extend the RCU usage to even more locations. From Ding Tianhong and Wang Yufen, based upon suggestions by Nikolay Aleksandrov and Veaceslav Falico. 12) Allow stackability of segmentation offloads to, in particular, allow segmentation offloading over tunnels. From Eric Dumazet. 13) Significantly improve the handling of secret keys we input into the various hash functions in the inet hashtables, TCP fast open, as well as syncookies. From Hannes Frederic Sowa. The key fundamental operation is "net_get_random_once()" which uses static keys. Hannes even extended this to ipv4/ipv6 fragmentation handling and our generic flow dissector. 14) The generic driver layer takes care now to set the driver data to NULL on device removal, so it's no longer necessary for drivers to explicitly set it to NULL any more. Many drivers have been cleaned up in this way, from Jingoo Han. 15) Add a BPF based packet scheduler classifier, from Daniel Borkmann. 16) Improve CRC32 interfaces and generic SKB checksum iterators so that SCTP's checksumming can more cleanly be handled. Also from Daniel Borkmann. 17) Add a new PMTU discovery mode, IP_PMTUDISC_INTERFACE, which forces using the interface MTU value. This helps avoid PMTU attacks, particularly on DNS servers. From Hannes Frederic Sowa. 18) Use generic XPS for transmit queue steering rather than internal (re-)implementation in virtio-net. From Jason Wang. * git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net-next: (1622 commits) random32: add test cases for taus113 implementation random32: upgrade taus88 generator to taus113 from errata paper random32: move rnd_state to linux/random.h random32: add prandom_reseed_late() and call when nonblocking pool becomes initialized random32: add periodic reseeding random32: fix off-by-one in seeding requirement PHY: Add RTL8201CP phy_driver to realtek xtsonic: add missing platform_set_drvdata() in xtsonic_probe() macmace: add missing platform_set_drvdata() in mace_probe() ethernet/arc/arc_emac: add missing platform_set_drvdata() in arc_emac_probe() ipv6: protect for_each_sk_fl_rcu in mem_check with rcu_read_lock_bh vlan: Implement vlan_dev_get_egress_qos_mask as an inline. ixgbe: add warning when max_vfs is out of range. igb: Update link modes display in ethtool netfilter: push reasm skb through instead of original frag skbs ip6_output: fragment outgoing reassembled skb properly MAINTAINERS: mv643xx_eth: take over maintainership from Lennart net_sched: tbf: support of 64bit rates ixgbe: deleting dfwd stations out of order can cause null ptr deref ixgbe: fix build err, num_rx_queues is only available with CONFIG_RPS ... |

exec/ptrace: fix get_dumpable() incorrect tests
The get_dumpable() return value is not boolean. Most users of the function actually want to be testing for non-SUID_DUMP_USER(1) rather than SUID_DUMP_DISABLE(0). The SUID_DUMP_ROOT(2) is also considered a protected state. Almost all places did this correctly, excepting the two places fixed in this patch. Wrong logic: if (dumpable == SUID_DUMP_DISABLE) { /* be protective */ } or if (dumpable == 0) { /* be protective */ } or if (!dumpable) { /* be protective */ } Correct logic: if (dumpable != SUID_DUMP_USER) { /* be protective */ } or if (dumpable != 1) { /* be protective */ } Without this patch, if the system had set the sysctl fs/suid_dumpable=2, a user was able to ptrace attach to processes that had dropped privileges to that user. (This may have been partially mitigated if Yama was enabled.) The macros have been moved into the file that declares get/set_dumpable(), which means things like the ia64 code can see them too. mm: migrate: check movability of hugepage in unmap_and_move_huge_page()
Currently hugepage migration works well only for pmd-based hugepages (mainly due to lack of testing,) so we had better not enable migration of other levels of hugepages until we are ready for it. Some users of hugepage migration (mbind, move_pages, and migrate_pages) do page table walk and check pud/pmd_huge() there, so they are safe. But the other users (softoffline and memory hotremove) don't do this, so without this patch they can try to migrate unexpected types of hugepages. To prevent this, we introduce hugepage_migration_support() as an architecture dependent check of whether hugepage are implemented on a pmd basis or not. And on some architecture multiple sizes of hugepages are available, so hugepage_migration_support() also checks hugepage size. ARM: SoC platform changes for 3.12
This branch contains mostly additions and changes to platform enablement and SoC-level drivers. Since there's sometimes a dependency on device-tree changes, there's also a fair amount of those in this branch. Pieces worth mentioning are: - Mbus driver for Marvell platforms, allowing kernel configuration and resource allocation of on-chip peripherals. - Enablement of the mbus infrastructure from Marvell PCI-e drivers. - Preparation of MSI support for Marvell platforms. - Addition of new PCI-e host controller driver for Tegra platforms - Some churn caused by sharing of macro names between i.MX 6Q and 6DL platforms in the device tree sources and header files. - Various suspend/PM updates for Tegra, including LP1 support. - Versatile Express support for MCPM, part of big little support. - Allwinner platform support for A20 and A31 SoCs (dual and quad Cortex-A7) - OMAP2+ support for DRA7, a new Cortex-A15-based SoC. The code that touches other architectures are patches moving MSI arch-specific functions over to weak symbols and removal of ARCH_SUPPORTS_MSI, acked by PCI maintainers. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAABAgAGBQJSKhYmAAoJEIwa5zzehBx322AP/1ONYs8o8f7/Gzq6lZvTN6T3 0pBTApg6Jfioi3lwKvUAEIcsW82YKQ+UZkbW66GQH6+Ri4aZJKZHuz0+JPU67OJ4 LtSLuzVWrymy2VOOUvAnS/SXkOZw/pHhU4cLNHn1dMndhUL1Uqp9/XwuiHEQyFsP uOkpcBtIu0EWElov0PKKZ5SWBg8JJs2vy5ydiViGelWHCrZvDDZkWzIsDcBQxJLQ juzT4+JE+KOu7vKmfw78o6iHoCS2TBRAN9YUCajRb8Wl+out1hrTahHnDWaZ5Mce EskcQNkJROqFbjD4k3ABN4XGTv2VDmrztIwFe0SEQ7Dz/9ypCrBGT69uI9xIqTXr GwVRIwAUFTpMupK0gy93z1ajV3N0CXV79out9+jQNUQybYE+czp8QOyhmuc1tZx0 8fn9jlBQe9Vy6yrs39gEcE7nUwrayeyQ+6UvqqwsE2pWZabNAnCMSPX5+QIu+T/3 tQ7+jYmfFeserp1sIDOHOnxfhtW9EI6U9d1h/DUCwrsuFdkL9ha4M/vh9Pwgye98 tBdz0T4yE39AJQwwFWRkv1jcQKcGu6WqJanmvS4KRBksGwuLWxy+ewOnkz2ifS25 ZYSyxAryZRBvQRqlOK11rXPfRcbGcY0MG9lkKX96rGcyWEizgE1DdjxXD8HoIleN R8heV6GX5OzlFLGX2tKK =fJ5x -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'soc-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc Pull ARM SoC platform changes from Olof Johansson: "This branch contains mostly additions and changes to platform enablement and SoC-level drivers. The definition of ffs() for ia64 is almost the same as asm-generic/bitops/builtin-ffs.h. The only difference is whether it is defined as inline function or macro function. ARM: tegra: core SoC enhancements for 3.12
This branch includes a number of enhancements to core SoC support for Tegra devices. The major new features are: * Adds a new CPU-power-gated cpuidle state for Tegra114. * Adds initial system suspend support for Tegra114, initially supporting just CPU-power-gating during suspend. * Adds "LP1" suspend mode support for all of Tegra20/30/114. This mode both gates CPU power, and places the DRAM into self-refresh mode. * A new DT-driven PCIe driver to Tegra20/30. The driver is also moved from arch/arm/mach-tegra/ to drivers/pci/host/. Merge branch 'timers/nohz-v3' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/frederic/linux-dynticks into timers/nohz
Pull nohz improvements from Frederic Weisbecker: " It mostly contains fixes and full dynticks off-case optimizations. I believe that distros want to enable this feature so it seems important to optimize the case where the "nohz_full=" parameter is empty. ie: I'm trying to remove any performance regression that comes with NO_HZ_FULL=y when the feature is not used. This patchset improves the current situation a lot (off-case appears to be around 11% faster with hackbench, although I guess it may vary depending on the configuration but it should be significantly faster in any case) now there is still some work to do: I can still observe a remaining loss of 1.6% throughput seen with hackbench compared to CONFIG_NO_HZ_FULL=n. Now that we have weak versions for each of the PCI MSI architecture functions, we can actually build the MSI support for all platforms, regardless of whether they provide or not architecture-specific versions of those functions. Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net-next
Pull networking updates from David Miller:
"This is a re-do of the net-next pull request for the current merge
window. The only difference from the one I made the other day is that
this has Eliezer's interface renames and the timeout handling changes
made based upon your feedback, as well as a few bug fixes that have
trickeled in.
Highlights:
1) Low latency device polling, eliminating the cost of interrupt
handling and context switches. Allows direct polling of a network
device from socket operations, such as recvmsg() and poll().
Currently ixgbe, mlx4, and bnx2x support this feature.

[IA64] sim: Add casts to avoid assignment warnings
Pointers in the efi_runtime_services_t structure now have type "void *" (formerly they were "unsigned long"). So we now see a bunch of warnings like this: arch/ia64/hp/sim/boot/fw-emu.c:293: warning: assignment makes pointer from integer without a cast Add (void *) casts to the 10 affected lines to make the build quiet again. mm: concentrate modification of totalram_pages into the mm core
Concentrate code to modify totalram_pages into the mm core, so the arch memory initialized code doesn't need to take care of it. With these changes applied, only following functions from mm core modify global variable totalram_pages: free_bootmem_late(), free_all_bootmem(), free_all_bootmem_node(), adjust_managed_page_count(). With this patch applied, it will be much more easier for us to keep totalram_pages and zone->managed_pages in consistence. mm: enhance free_reserved_area() to support poisoning memory with zero
Address more review comments from last round of code review. 1) Enhance free_reserved_area() to support poisoning freed memory with pattern '0'. This could be used to get rid of poison_init_mem() on ARM64. 2) A previous patch has disabled memory poison for initmem on s390 by mistake, so restore to the original behavior. 3) Remove redundant PAGE_ALIGN() when calling free_reserved_area().
