Stephen Rothwell reported quite a few conflicts in iwlwifi between
wireless-drivers and wireless-drivers-next. To avoid any problems later in
other trees merge w-d to w-d-next to fix those conflicts early.
Unlike the other sections of the NVM, the hw section is in big-endian.
To read a value from it, we had to cast it to __be16. Fix that by
using __be16 * for the entire section.

At this point we have already copied the cfg pointer to mvm and we
have been dereferencing this pointer many times before, so it will
never be NULL or we would have crashed. Remove the useless check.

Tx BA session should be started according to the current throughput
without any dependence on the internal rate scaling state. The criteria
for opening a BA session will be 10 frames per second.
Sending frequent del BAs can cause inter-op issues with some APs. We'll
not close a BA session until we receive an explicit del BA from the
peer.

The code did not consider the case that the channel switch counter
is <= 1, which would result with an inaccurate calculation of the
time event apply time.
As the specification states that in case of counter == 0 the switch
occurs at any time after the reception the frame, and for counter == 1
the switch would happens before the next TBTT, schedule the time
event immediately.

When we flush a queue, the packets will have a 'failed'
status but we shouldn't send a BAR. This check was missing.
Because of that, when we got an ampdu_action with
IEEE80211_AMPDU_TX_STOP_FLUSH, we started the following
ping pong with the firmware:
1) Set the station as 'draining'
2) Get a failed Tx status (DRAINED)
3) Send a BAR because of the failed Tx status
(loop of 2 and 3)
This loop wasn't endless since the BAR isn't sent on a
queue that would trigger a "nested" BAR.

If a time event is already scheduled when trying to schedule one for
channel switch, the code assumes the channel switch is already
scheduled and no further action is required.
However, it is possible that the scheduled time event is actually
for session protection (e.g. when the first beacon after association
contains the CSA IE). In this case the channel switch will not be
scheduled which will finally lead to disconnection.
Fix this by removing the old time event and schduling a new one for
the channel switch.

The firmware team is now re-using a bit that hasn't been
used for a few generations. Re-use for TX_ON_AIR drop.
This bit will be set by the firmware to indicate that
a frame in an A-MPDU was dropped but not because of the
already mapped reasons.

We use mvmsta for the sta->drv_priv in mvm, but in rs.c we have a
bunch of instances using sta_priv, which is probably due to it being
copied from dvm. Change all occurrences to mvmsta for consistency

We have some of the SAR dummy functions when ACPI is not set declared
in mvm.h and some declared in fw.c. Group them all together in fw.c

When we get a valid baid in a received frame, we need to
check that we are aware of this baid. If not, we check
that the OLD_SN bit set. If that's not the case, we issue
a WARNING. Print more data when that happens.

There's no need to differentiate an INIT that ended early because of
RFKILL from one that succeded. Additionally, if INIT fails later,
during calibration, due to RFKILL, we can just return success and
continue as if we were already in RFKILL to start with.
Remove this unnecessary differentiation and do some other small
clean-ups while at it.

The corunning block was supposed to help in coex scenarios.
It required the driver to configure the firmware based on
the coupling between the two antennas of the devices.
This was never in use and the configuration sent by the
driver has always been blank.

One of the queue config params is the associated station id.
Hence the FW must know about the station prior to the queue allocation.
In a000 devices, allocating a queue without a valid station
results with assert 0x2B00.
In FW restart flow the queues are allocated before
adding the station so first add the station.

When an RX block-ack session times out, the firmware, which offloads
RX reordering but not the BA session negotiation, stops the session
but doesn't send a DELBA. This causes the the session to remain
active in the remote device, so no more BA sessions will be
established, causing a severe throughput degradation due to the lack
of aggregation.
Use the new ieee80211_rx_ba_timer_expired API when the ba session timer
expires, since this will tear down the ba session and also send a delba.
The previous API used is intended for drivers that offload the
addba/delba negotiation, but not the rx reordering, while our driver
does the opposite.
This patch depends on "mac80211: add api to start ba session timer
expired flow".

CT-kill is a thermal-based "RF-kill", which disables the NIC
completely if the temperature gets too high, in order to avoid damage.
Add a debugfs entry to simulate high temperatures, in order to test
CT-kill flows in the driver without having to physically heat the
device up.

On devices starting from 8000 series, the host can no longer toggle
the LED through the CSR_LED_REG register, but must do it via the
firmware instead. Add support for this. Note that this means that
the LED cannot be turned on while the firmware is off, so using an
arbitrary LED trigger may not work as expected.

If the module parameter is set to disable the LED, we leave the
initialization routine before setting the LEDS_INIT_COMPLETE
status bit. Therefore, there's no need to check the parameter
again on exit, just the status check is sufficient.

When we start an Rx A-MPDU session, we first get the AddBA
request, then we send an ADD_STA command to the firmware
that will reply with a BAID which is a hardware resource
that tracks the BA session.
This BAID will appear on each and every frame that we get
from the firwmare until the A-MPDU session is torn down.
In the Rx path, we look at this BAID to manage the
reordering buffer.
This flow is inherently racy since the hardware will start
to put the BAID in the frames it receives even if the
firmware hasn't sent the response to the ADD_STA command.
This basically means that the driver can get frames with
a valid BAID that it doesn't know yet.
When that happens, the driver used to WARN.
Fix this by simply not WARN in this case. When the driver
will know abou the BAID, it will initialise the relevant
states and the next frame with a valid BAID will refresh
them.

In AP mode, if a station is removed just as it is adding a new stream,
the queue in question will remain stopped and no more TX will happen
in this queue, leading to connection failures and other problems.
This is because under DQA, when tx is deferred because a queue needs
to be allocated, the mac queue for that TID is stopped until the new
stream is added. If at this point the station that this stream
belongs to is removed, all the deferred tx frames are purged, but the
mac queue is not restarted. As a result, all following tx on this
queue will not be transmitted.
Fix this by starting the relevant mac queues when the deferred tx
frames are purged.

Since the TXQ timer freeze code will not properly handle the
large TVQM queue numbers, warn if we get into that code when
we have TVQM. Also, just to catch this earlier, warn if the
firmware image doesn't support AP_LINK_PS but we're running
on HW using TVQM.

During init, the FW checks whether the FSEQ value matches what it
expects. If it doesn't match, we print a warning to let integrators
clearly know that something is wrong. This can happen if another core
(i.e. not WiFi) has updated the FSEQ version. This notification is
only sent by the FW in production, for development firmwares, an
assertion is triggered instead.

If the OTP is empty, the NVM_GET_INFO command returns
with flags' bit(0) on. This means the FW returns the
default values for working with. This is allowed, so
use this returned data.

We currently support 3 different versions of the beacon template
command and the code does some tricks in order to reuse what is
possible across these versions. But it is a bit complicated to read
and soon there will be one more variation that the driver needs
implement, which would complicate it even further.
Refactor the way we send beacon template commands, which increases the
code size a bit, but makes it much easier to read.

Convention has it to byte-swap the constant instead of the variable
when doing bit checks. This also generates better code when the swap
is actually needed, since the constant can be swapped at compile-time.

There are two workarounds because RSS is currently broken on A000
devices due to firmware issues, but checking for the new TX API
doesn't really make sense. Check the hardware family instead of
the new TX API - there's nothing better to check since it's just
a temporary workaround.

Apart from DVM, all firmware uses the same base API, and there's
code outside iwlmvm that needs to interact with it. Reflect this
in the source better and reorganize the firmware API to a new
fw/api/ directory.
While at it, split the already pretty large fw-api.h file into a
number of smaller files, going from almost 3k lines in there to
a maximum number of lines less than 1k.

Set the STA_FLG_RTS_MIMO_PROT bit in station_flags_msk of the add sta
command, so that when smps mode changes, the FW will know about it.
In particular, in AP mode, clients are added upon receival of an auth
request, at which point there's no knowledge of the client's smps mode.
When the assoc request arrives, the add_sta command is resent to modify
the station parameters. At this point the driver knows the smps mode,
but since the corresponding bit in the mask is not set, the fw doesn't
update this field so there's no rts protection for mimo.

Statistics should be collected according to the actual rate a
frame/aggregation was transmitted and not according to the initial rate
from the last LQ command (these rates are different if the frames were
retransmitted at a lower rate from the rate scale table).
This is needed to remove throughput degradation.

The bit was set only if there was at least one reclaimed frame in an
aggregation. It's important to set it also in the case that the whole
A-MPDU was lost, otherwise rate scaling statistics will not be
updated correctly. Thus, set it always in ba notification handler.
This fixes a throughput degradation of about 20% in certain scenarios
with multiple streams on 11ac.

When we enabled TCP checksum offload, we need to tell the
firmware where the IP header starts. If we have an IV, then
we need to adapt that value since the IV is placed before
the SNAP header. This is true only for cases where the
driver adds the IV, not the WEP case in which the IV is
added by the firmware itself.
On A000 devices series, the IV is always added by the
device.
Fix this.

A hardware/firmware error may happen at any point in time. In
particular, it might happen while mac80211 is in the middle of
a flow. We observed the following situation:
* mac80211 is in authentication flow, in ieee80211_prep_connection()
* iwlwifi firmware crashes, but no error can be reported at this
precise point (mostly because the driver method is void, but even
if it wasn't we'd just shift to a race condition)
* mac80211 continues the flow, trying to add the AP station
* iwlwifi has already set its internal restart flag, and so thinks
that adding the station is part of the restart and already set up,
so it uses the information that's supposed to already be in the
struct
This can happen with any flow in mac80211 and with any information
we try to preserve across hardware restarts.
To fix this, only set a new HW_RESTART_REQUESTED flag and translate
that to IN_HW_RESTART once mac80211 actually starts the restart by
calling our start() method. As a consequence, any mac80211 flow in
progress at the time of the restart will properly finish (certainly
with errors), before the restart is attempted.

Sometimes, we can have an firmware crash while trying to
recover from a previous firmware problem.
When that happens, lots of things can go wrong. For example
the stations don't get added properly to mvm->fw_id_to_mac_id.
Mac80211 tries to stop A-MPDU upon reconfig but in case of
a firmware crash we will bail out fairly early and in the
end, we won't delete the A-MPDU Rx timeout.
When that timer expired after a double firmware crash,
we end up dereferencing mvm->fw_id_to_mac_id[sta_id]
which is NULL.

The newest devices need a longer time to reset because of
their more complex hardware. Wait 5ms after device reset.
Consolidate all the places that reset the device in the
PCIe transport to avoid future bugs.
While at it, unify the flow to use set_bit instead of full
write as requested by the hardware designers.

When a station that's not associated sends a data frame (e.g. an NDP)
hostapd will respond with a disassoc frame, telling it that it's not
associated. The station might also not be authenticated, in which case
there will not be a station entry for it, and as a result we need to
accept such frames without a station.

When we get a non-STA frame to transmit in client mode, we try to use
the IWL_MVM_DQA_BSS_CLIENT_QUEUE queue (queue #4). However, at this
point, the queue might not be allocated at all, causing warnings. The
scenario on which this happened was a race condition between mac80211
and our queue allocation work:
* mac80211 sends auth
* we stop mac80211 queues to allocate a hw queue
* authentication is aborted
* we allocate HW queue and start mac80211 queues
* mac80211 removes station
* mac80211 hands us the auth frame from the pending queue
At this point, since mac80211 has already removed the station, we try
to transmit the frame through this special non-station case on queue
4 anyway.
In order to really use it properly, we'd have to again go through the
hw queue allocation work, and attach it to a station, etc. In this
case that isn't possible (there's no station anymore), but if this
special case were needed, then we'd have to do it this way.
However, the special case is documented to exist for TDLS, but can't
trigger there because the TDLS setup frames etc. are normal to-DS
frames going to the peer through the AP. Testing also confirms that
this code path isn't triggered in TDLS.
Therefore, remove the code path to avoid using an unused queue. The
erroneous frame described above will still be transmitted on the AUX
queue, but arguably that's a mac80211 problem, which will eventually
be fixed by moving everything there to TXQs.

Getting the TID of a packet before we know it is a QoS data
packet isn't a good idea. Delay the TID retrieval until
we know the packet is a QoS data packet.

When in non-DQA mode, mac80211 actually gets a pretty much perfect
idea (in vif->hw_queue/cab_queue) of which queues we're using. But
in DQA mode, this isn't true - nonetheless, we were adding all the
queues, even the ones stations are using, to the queue allocation
bitmap.
Fix this, we should only add the queues we really are using in DQA
mode:
* IWL_MVM_OFFCHANNEL_QUEUE, as we use this in both modes
* mvm->aux_queue, as we use this in both modes - mac80211
never really knows about it but we use it as a cookie
internally, so can't reuse it
* possibly the GCAST queue (cab_queue)
* all the "queues" we told mac80211 about we were using on each
interface (vif->hw_queue), these are entirely virtual in this
mode
Also add back the failure now when we can't allocate any more of
these - now virtual - queues; this was skipped in DQA mode and
would lead to having multiple ACs or even interfaces use the same
queue number in mac80211 (10, since that's the limit), which would
stop far too many queues if stopped.

mvmvif->cab_queue, particularly with TVQM. Make the code map this
earlier, instead of first returning the mac80211 one again from

In the driver, we track which hardware queue is associated with
which mac80211 "hw_queue", in order to be able to stop and wake
it. When moving these bitmaps out of the queue_info structures,
the type of the bitmap was erroneously changed from u32 to u8,
presumably in order to save memory.
Turns out that u32 isn't needed, because the highest queue we
can ever tell mac80211 is always < 16, but a u16 definitely is
needed, queues >=8 do happen.
While at it, throw a BUILD_BUG_ON() into the place where we set
the limit (mvm->first_agg_queue) and a warning when it actually
gets put into the bitmap.
The consequence of this bug is that full HW queues associated
with such a too-high mac80211 number never stop higher layer
queues when full, and thus would simply drop all packets that
couldn't be enqueued to the hardware queue.

The code was intended to enable IP header checksumming on AMSDUs, but
failed to really do so because the A-MSDU bit was set after all the
checksumming bits, and thus checking for A-MSDU could never be true.
Fix this by setting the A-MSDU bit before the offload bits.

When hostapd adds a station, it does so before sending the association
response frame, so that it can indicate the correct status code in the
response.
However, when this then fails, or the association response already is
a reject for some other reason, then there's no station entry and thus
no per-station management queue to send the response on and it must be
sent on the probe response queue. The code should therefore not warn.
In theory, we could check and warn if the status code is success, but
that seems excessive, so just relax the check to allow any association
response frames.

If the first frame on a given TID is received with seqno 0 and needed
to be retransmitted, we erroneously drop it because the deduplication
data is initialized to zero, and then comparing

will return in iwl_mvm_is_dup() since last_sub_frame is also set to
zero, and sub_frame_idx is usually zero since this only covers the
relatively rare case of A-MSDU.
Fix this by initializing the last_seq array to 0xffff, which is an
impossible value for hdr->seq_ctrl to have here because the lower
four bits are the fragment number, and fragments aren't handled in
this code but go to mac80211 instead.

In commit b93b1fe3b5 ("iwlwifi: mvm: fix init_dbg flow to work
as expected"), the code was changed to make the stop conditional
on not having failed (and on not having init_dbg), which doesn't
make sense - we should stop the device regardless of failures.
Failure to do so is leading to the device being enabled when it
shouldn't be, and - if it gets re-enabled later - the new context
info code gets confused as paging data wasn't freed.
Remove the invalid error condition again.

When receiving a BA_NOTIF on new TX API, it can
contain BAs for several TIDs. Go over them and
reclaim TX for every TID.
Note that although the small API change, the API
version still isn't bumped forward, as this NIC
isn't still officially released.

When the firmware supports CDB, PHY contexts cannot be modified to
change their band, but need to be added/remove instead. Instead of
relying on iwl_mvm_has_new_tx_api(), check the right FW capa flag
IWL_UCODE_TLV_CAPA_BINDING_CDB_SUPPORT and remove the comment.

When trying to TX through a monitor interface, the
conditions in iwl_mvm_tx_skb_non_sta() don't match
and the frame tries to go out from an usued TXQ.
Add a check for monitor iface, and use the AUX queue
in such a case.
In non-DQA mode the frame is sent through the
static-allocated queues anyway, so the problem is
in DQA mode only.

It's sometimes hard to find out which HW address the iwlwifi device is
using, for instance when reading crouded sniffer logs. To make it
easier, print out an info level message with the HW address as soon as
we know it.

This new API allows flushing queues based on station ID and TID in A000
devices. One reason for using this is that tfd_queue_mask is only good
for 32 queues, which is not enough for A000 devices.

When updating the mac context after association,
assoc_beacon_arrive_time is not being set, which causes the FW to
set a wrong TSF to the MAC.

In case we need to move the scheduler write pointer by
steps of 0x40, 0x80 or 0xc0, the scheduler gets stuck.
This leads to hardware error interrupts with status:
0x5A5A5A5A or alike.
In order to work around this, detect in the transport
layer that we are going to hit this case and tell iwlmvm
to increment the sequence number of the packets. This
allows to keep the requirement that the WiFi sequence
number is in sync with the index in the scheduler Tx queue
and it also allows to avoid the problematic sequence.
This means that from time to time, we will start a queue
from ssn + 1, but that shouldn't be a problem since we
don't switch to new queues for AMPDU now that we have
DQA which allows to keep the same queue while toggling
the AMPDU state.
This bug has been fixed on 9000 devices and up.

A TID may not have traffic but still have a BA agreement
active (or being setup / torn down) since a BA agreement
can be triggered by a debugfs hook.
Just avoid to consider such a TID as inactive to make the
logic safer.

If the hardware is stuck, we can't read any of the memory we need to
dump it, so we end up printing only 0xa5a5a5a5, which is useless.
To solve this, poke the hardware by triggering a reset and re-enabling
the clocks if we detect a HW error.

In BSS mode in the disconnection flow, mac80211 removes
the AP station before the vif is set to unassociated.
Our firmware wants it the other way around: first set
the vif as unassociated, and then remove the AP station.
In order to bridge between those two different behaviors,
iwlmvm doesn't remove the station from the firmware when
mac80211 removes it, but only after the vif is set to
unassociated. The implementation is in
iwl_mvm_bss_info_changed_station:

During the recovery flow, mac80211 re-adds the AP station
and then reconfigures the vif. Since the vif is not
associated, and then, we enter the if above (which was
intended to be taken in the disconnection flow only) and
remove the station we just added. This defeats the
recovery flow.
Fix this by not removing the AP station in this flow if
we are in recovery flow.

To stop and start the FW monitor in the 7000 HW
family we need to use a different bit, otherwise
after stopping it for the first time - it won't
get restarted. Use the correct bitmask.
Note: This fix is only for DRAM collection mode.
For other modes, an additional fix will be
needed.

On A000 HW, the SCD rdptr has only 8 bits allocated
for it, thus when checking if a queue is full, or
when checking if the SSN is equal to the TID's
next_reclaimed, A000 HW should trim the SSN.
Fix this by "normalizing" the SSN to wrap around
0xFF when comparing to the next_reclaimed on A000
HW.

If we happen to be in or get into the queue sync when RF-kill
is asserted, we return from there and warn since there are
still queue sync notifications outstanding. These can't ever
come though, because we're in RF-kill, so don't WARN then.
While at it, also move the warning to the appropriate place,
if the request is not synchronous then we shouldn't warn, but
currently always will.
To make it fast, also trigger the waitq when on rfkill assert.

Some static checkers (e.g. smatch) complain about the logic, saying that
resp_cp might be leaked. Clearly that isn't true, but making the logic
easier to follow does not result in any significant code changes and makes
the code more readable by moving the NULL check closer to its source.

New FW versions require the D0I3_END_CMD to be sent as the first
command to the FW in the resume flow. If the TLV is set, send that
command first, otherwise keep the original behavior (i.e. send last).

There is no need to send D0I3_END_CMD as ASYNC during the system

Shaul reported that when iwlmvm was sending beacons, it didn't properly
also take ownership of the probe responses. This is because the whole
mac80211 callback (tx_last_beacon) wasn't implemented. Fix that to make
IBSS discovery work better.

It's safer to use scnprintf() here because the buffer might
be too short for the full format strings. In most cases
this isn't true because of external limits on the values.

When sending a Tx Command with a Tx packet, we allocate the
Tx command separately from the payload of the packet.
The WiFi MAC header is then copied into the buffer that was
allocated for the Tx Command. This means that this buffer
needs to be big enough to contain both. This is why it is
allocated with iwl_trans_alloc_tx_cmd which returns a
pointer to a newly allocated not zeroed struct
iwl_device_cmd.
The Tx command has a few bit fields and hence it needs to
be zeroed, but all the rest of the buffer doesn't need to
be zeroed since it will either be memcopy'ed with the MAC
header, or not even sent to the device.
This means that we don't need to zero all the
iwl_device_cmd structure, but rather only the size of
the iwl_tx_cmd structure.
Since sizeof(iwl_tx_cmd) - sizeof(iwl_tx_cmd) is about
260 bytes, this can avoid touching 4 cache lines for each
packet.

Contrary to what some of the comments say, if rfkill was
asserted the transport will return -ERFKILL instead of
success, if CMD_WANT_SKB was set, so it's not necessary
to check cmd.resp_pkt for being NULL if the return code
was success.
Validate that this is true in iwl_trans_send_cmd().

Clear the firmware running bit before flushing the FW (error) dump
work, because otherwise debugfs isn't blocked (previous patch) and
can cause a new work to be scheduled, which will then run after we
actually shut down the device, wreaking havoc. Clearing it ensures
that debugfs can't interfere anymore, and we can safely cancel or
flush the work struct.

Protect various debugfs files that need to communicate with the
firmware from being used when the firmware isn't running.

Apart from the current list of PRPH that can't be
collected in A000 HW, the rest of the debug dump
data the driver collects is valid, so there is no
need to disable collection only because of this.
Disable PRPH collecting in A000 HW, and allow
collecting the rest of the debug data.

In case an assert happens on init flow, the current
driver powers down the NIC, except if iwlmvm modparam
init_dbg=1, and only on very specific flows.
Extend this capability to cover most failure cases
by keeping track of what init configurations have been
completed. This way, we can allow NOT powering down
the NIC, while making sure that when the driver is
removed we don't try to free resources that haven't
been allocated. (This can result in a kernel panic.)

The iwl_mvm_remove_sta_key() function handles removing a key when the
sta doesn't exist anymore. Mistakenly, this was changed to return an
error while fixing another bug.
If the mvm_sta doesn't exist, we continue normally, but just don't try
to remove the igtk key.

When we want to stop the recording of the firmware debug
and restart it later without reloading the firmware we
don't need to resend the configuration that comes with
host commands.
Sending those commands confused the hardware and led to
an NMI 0x66.
Change the flow as following:
* read the relevant registers (DBGC_IN_SAMPLE, DBGC_OUT_CTRL)
* clear those registers
* wait for the hardware to complete its write to the buffer
* get the data
* restore the value of those registers (to restart the
recording)
For early start (where the configuration is already
compiled in the firmware), we don't need to set those
registers after the firmware has been loaded, but only
when we want to restart the recording without having
restarted the firmware.

During d0i3 flow we flush all the queue except from the command queue.
Currently, in this flow the command queue is hard coded to 9.
In DQA the command queue number has changed from 9 to 0.
Fix that.
This fixes a problem in runtime PM resume flow.

Up until now, the driver was comparing the rate reported by the FW and
the rate of the latest LQ command to avoid processing data belonging
to the old LQ command. Recently, FW changed the meaning of the initial
rate field in tx response and it holds the actual rate (which is not
necessarily the initial rate of LQ's rate table). Use instead LQ cmd
color to be able to filter out tx responses/BA notifications which
where sent during earlier LQ commands' time frame.
This fixes some throughput degradation in noisy environments.

This patch implements the idea to have multiple scheduled scan requests
running concurrently. It mainly illustrates how to deal with the incoming
request from user-space in terms of backward compatibility. In order to
use multiple scheduled scans user-space needs to provide a flag attribute
NL80211_ATTR_SCHED_SCAN_MULTI to indicate support. If not the request is
treated as a legacy scan.
Drivers currently supporting scheduled scan are now indicating they support
a single scheduled scan request. This obsoletes WIPHY_FLAG_SUPPORTS_SCHED_SCAN.

Support change to ADD_STA API to support station types.
Each station is assigned its type.
This simplifies FW handling of the broadcast and multicast
stations:
* broadcast station is identified by its type and not the mac
address.
* multicast queue is no longer treated differently. The opening
and closing of it is done by referring to its station.
There is no need to specify it in the MAC command.
* When disabling TX to all station driver can disable the traffic
on multicast station, so FW doesn't have to do it.
Change is backward compatible.
Change the order of adding and removing the stations according to
FW requirements.

Enlarging the struct to 512 queues will consume a lot of memory.
Remove all references to the struct in the new TX path.
Move mac80211 queue mapping outside, since it will be needed per

We can't use IEEE80211_INVAL_HW_QUEUE to mark a queue as
invalid since 255 will be a valid value for a TVQM queue
index.
Use IWL_MVM_INVALID_QUEUE instead for accessing txq_id.
reserved_queue can stay a u8 since reserved_queue is not
used when TVQM is enabled.

cab_queue can now get bigger than u8, since in TVQM we will support
512 queues..
Support it by maintaining internal mapping between the actual number
and mac80211 queue (IWL_MVM_DQA_GCAST_QUEUE).
For pre-a000 the internal queue will be the same as the mac80211
queue.

Wifi mcc (mobile country code) update is forbidden while associated.
Currently, FW prevents these updates and the driver is unaware to
this logic. From now on, the FW sends every wifi mcc update to the
driver. The driver in his turn needs to decide whether to
ignore it or not, depends on the association state.

In a000 CDB firmware, we cannot update phy context to a
different band - we must first remove it and add it
again. Support this flow for all a000 devices since
we may have various combinations that cause us to fail
regardless if CDB is active.

Currently when rate isn't found (invalid rate or CCK rate in high
band) driver is assigning rate -1, which causes mac80211 to dump
it later with the cryptic rate value of 0xFF.
Instead, warn early and dump the frame in mvm.

When we load firmware in extended mode (as we do by default for
now) driver should send a command what kind of commands ucode
should stop and wait for before proceeding with phy calibrations.

To utilize the maximum allowed tx power, an additional table was added
to the BIOS. The table consists of up to seven different regions
(currently only three are in use). Each region contains per band:
1. Maximum allowed tx power on the band.
2. Tx power offset for chain A.
3. Tx power offset for chain B.
On init flow driver reads this table by means of ACPI and
passes it to the firmware with GEO_TX_POWER_LIMIT cmd.
The firmware will use this table to enhance tx power with
the offset in the relevant table as well as verifying it does not
violate the maximum allowed tx power.

When we get SN that is smaller than SSN of the aggregation,
we shouldn't apply any reordering on them.
Further more, HW NSSN will be zeroed, which can cause us
to make some invalid decisions.
Detect the situation and invalidate the BAID.

The TX queue config API was changed. Move to new API.
This has to be done in parallel in mvm and pcie.

Newer firmware versions will be able to handle all the
WMM-PS flows internally when we act as a GO. The firwmare
relies on the fact that the drivers puts frames for
different peers in different queues (DQA) to achieve this.
The driver will not be aware of the power state of the peers
anymore.
Tell the firmware about the WMM-PS parameters of earch peer
that connects to us so that it can know what are the
trigger-enabled ACs, the delivery-enableds ACs and the
Service Period length.
This API change is backward compatible since older firmware
versions will simply ignore the newly added values.
Since we don't support ieee80211 TSPECs for now, just copy
the trigger-enabled ACs to the delivery enabled ones.

a000 devices queue management is going to change significantly.
We will have 512 queues. Those queues will be assigned number
by the firmware and not by the driver.
In addition, due to SN offload having TX queue shared between TIDs
is impossible
Also, the ADD_STA command no longer updates queues status.
The only point of changing queue in the SCD queue config API.
From driver perspective we have here a new design:
Queue sharing and inactivity checks are disabled.
Once this is done, the only paths that call scd_queue_cfg command
are paths that alloc and release TX queues - which will make future
accommodation to queue number assignment by FW easier.
Since allocating 512 queues statically is not advisable, transport
will allocate the queue on demand, fill the command with DRAM data
and send it. This is reflected in the new transport API.

Dynamic SAR allows changing TX power limits at runtime to comply with
SAR regulations on multiple form factors (e.g. tablet vs. clamshell
mode). To support this, a new table was added to ACPI, which is
called Extended Wireless Regulatory Descriptor (EWRD). This table
allows OEMs to define different TX power profiles for each form-factor
or usage mode.
Read this new table and store it in our SAR profiles table, in
preparation for Dynamic SAR support.

We are adding support for dynamic TX power tables for SAR (specific
absorption rate) compliance. Currently, we only support a single
(static) TX power table, which is read from ACPI, and use it
statically.
To prepare for more tables that can be switched dynamically, refactor
the SAR init flow to allow reusage and add the current static table as
a single entry in an array of tables.

In a000 devices we will support up to 32 stations.
The max station define is used also for invalid station marking
which makes finding usages of actual maximum station pretty hard
to sort through - change it to be a different define in order
to make future changes easier.
Use also ARRAY_SIZE intead of define when possible.
Do not move yet to 32 stations until firmware do it though.

Currently aux & broadcast queues are added before calling add
station, which results with a SCD_QUEUE_CFG command sent with
a station id unknown yet to fw.
While this works for pre-a000 firmware, the a000 fw requires
the order to be reversed.
The reason the change is only for a000 devices and not for
previous devices is that we cannot reverse the order since
the tfd_queue_mask containing the aux queue will cause FW to
assert on adding a queue mask with a queue that is not enabled.
This is not a problem in a000 fw since the tfd_queue_mask was
removed from the add sta API.

In case of a MFUART assert, get a notification from the fw
that consists of the assert id and debug data.
The notification may be divided to multiple chunks, depending
on the size of the debug data sent to the driver, which would
be up to 1KB.
Get the notification, and if the debug info flag is enabled,
print the debug data to the dmesg.

The FW will do TKIP calculations in D0 only for a000 devices,
but API is aligned anyway.
However, for all devices we can stop sending the wowlan tkip
command.

Currently multicast queue is associated with the broadcast
station.
This raises quite a few issues:
The multicast queue has a special treatment:
- It is sent in the MAC context command
- It is excluded from tfd_queue_mask
In DQA mode we end up enabling two queues - the probe response
queue and the multicast queue - with the same station (broadcast)
and TID while in DQA mode it should be unique RA-TID.
Firmware will enforce it for a000 devices, so this allocation
will fail.
In addition, in a000 devices the FW will set the FIFO and not
the driver. So there is a need for FW to know when we enable
the queue that it is multicast queue so it will be bound to
the multicast FIFO. There is no such way in current design.
In order to simplify driver and firmware handling of this queue
create a multicast station.
This solves the unique RA-TID issue in the short term and serves
as preparation for the long term.
In the long term we will also add a flag marking this station for
the FW as the multicast station.
Once we will do that the FW will know this is the multicast queue
immediately when it is added and bind it to the correct FIFO.
It will also enable removing the special treatment of the
queue in the MAC context command.

When a station is asleep, the fw will set it as "asleep".
All queues that are used only by one station will be stopped by
the fw.
In pre-DQA mode this was relevant for aggregation queues. However,
in DQA mode a queue is owned by one station only, so all queues
will be stopped.
As a result, we don't expect to get filtered frames back to
mac80211 and don't have to maintain the entire pending_frames
state logic, the same way as we do in aggregations.
The correct behavior is to align DQA behavior with the aggregation
queue behaviour pre-DQA:
- Don't count pending frames.
- Let mac80211 know we have frames in these queues so that it can
properly handle trigger frames.
When a trigger frame is received, mac80211 tells the driver to send
frames from the queues using release_buffered_frames.
The driver will tell the fw to let frames out even if the station
is asleep. This is done by iwl_mvm_sta_modify_sleep_tx_count.

When receiving a frame, we currently pull in sizeof(*hdr) plus
some extra (crypto/snap), which is too much, most headers aren't
actually sizeof(*hdr) since that takes into account the 4-address
format but doesn't take into account QoS. As a result, a typical
frame will have 4 bytes of the payload in the SKB header already.
Fix this by calculating the correct header length, and now that
we have that, align the end of the SKB header to a multiple of 4
so that the IP header will be aligned properly when pulled in.

For a000 devices the binding API needs to include relevant
lmac ID - support the new API.
The new API should be used regardless if the device had CDB or
not. If there is no actual CDB support the binding is bound
to first lmac regardless of the band.
There are some functionality changes in binding restrictions
and quota allocations that will be handled in future patches.

When removing an IGTK, iwl_mvm_send_sta_igtk() was
called before station ID was retrieved, so the function
was invoked with an invalid station ID. Fix this by first
getting the station ID.

The race happens when we send ADD_STA(auth->assoc) -> LQ_CMD
between the commands the FW sometimes loses the medium for AUX, and
sends a ndp to the AP and the flow becomes, ADD_STA -> send ndp -> LQ_CMD
the problem is that there's no rates yet defined for sending the ndp and
FW generates an assert.
The fix: change the order of the commands to LQ_CMD -> ADD_STA

The session protection set for association is only removed when
BSS_CHANGED_BEACON_INFO is set and BSS_CHANGED_ASSOC is not set.
However, mac80211 may set both on association (in case a beacon was
already received). In this case, mac80211 will not set
BSS_CHANGED_BEACON_INFO on the next beacons because it has already
notified the beacon change, so the session protection is never removed
(until the session protection ends).
When a CSA is received within this time, the station will fail to
folllow the channel switch because it cannot schedule the time event.
Fix this by removing the session protection when
BSS_CHANGED_BEACON_INFO and BSS_CHANGED_ASSOC are both set.

In DQA mode, first_agg_queue is initialized to
IWL_MVM_DQA_MIN_DATA_QUEUE. This causes two bugs in the tx response
flow:
1. When TX fails, we set IEEE80211_TX_STAT_AMPDU_NO_BACK regardless
if we actually have aggregation open on the queue. This causes
mac80211 to send a BAR frame even though there is no aggregation
open.
Fix that by simply checking the AMPDU flag that is set on by
mac80211 for AMPDU packets.
2. When reclaiming frames in aggregation mode, we reclaim based on
scheduler ssn and not the SN.
The reason is that scheduler ssn may be ahead of SN due to a hole
in the BA window that was filled.
However, if we have aggregations open on IWL_MVM_DQA_BSS_CLIENT_QUEUE
the reclaim flow will still go to the code of non-aggregation
instead of the aggregation code since IWL_MVM_DQA_BSS_CLIENT_QUEUE
is smaller than IWL_MVM_DQA_MIN_DATA_QUEUE, although it is a valid
aggregation queue.
Fix that by always using the aggregation reclaim code by default in
DQA mode (currently it is implicitly used by default for all queues
except the reserved BSS queue).

Extend ieee80211_cqm_rssi_notify with a rssi_level parameter so that
this information can be passed to netlink clients in the next patch, if
available. Most drivers will have this value at hand. wl1251 receives
events from the firmware that only tell it whether latest measurement
is above or below threshold so we don't pass any value at this time
(parameter is 0).

When a small frame is copied completely into the skb->head, the code
doesn't take alignment into account, making mac80211 copy it again
later on architectures that need the alignment. Avoid this by taking
the PAD flag from the device into account when copying.

In DQA mode the check whether to decrement the pending frames
counter relies on the tid status and not on the txq id.
This may result in an inconsistent state of the pending frames
counter in case frame is queued on a non aggregation queue but
with this TID, and will be followed by a failure to remove the
station and later on SYSASSERT 0x3421 when trying to remove the
MAC.
Such frames are for example bar and qos NDPs.
Fix it by aligning the condition of incrementing the counter
with the condition of decrementing it - rely on TID state for
DQA mode.
Also, avoid internal error like this affecting station removal
for DQA mode - since we can know for sure it is an internal
error.

A few of the static queues are enabled along with the bcast
STA. Make sure they are removed along with it, rather than
waiting for the mac ctxt release.
This is needed because we sometimes have a STA being removed
and then added again (either with the same sta_id or a
different one). If we wait for the mac ctxt release we will
try to allocate the queues again (as this is currently done
in the STA allocation and not in the MAC init) although
they weren't freed, and even if the sta_id of the STA has
changed.

Instead of setting the tx_cmd length in the mvm code, which is
complicated by the fact that DQA may want to temporarily store
the SKB on the side, adjust the length in the PCIe code which
also knows about this since it's responsible for duplicating
all those headers that are account for in this code.
As the PCIe code already relies on the tx_cmd->len field, this
doesn't really introduce any new dependencies.
To make this possible we need to move the memcpy() of the TX
command until after it was updated.
This does even simplify the code though, since the PCIe code
already does a lot of manipulations to build A-MSDUs correctly
and changing the length becomes a simple operation to see how
much was added/removed, rather than predicting it.

We don't really need clear the skb's status area nor store the
dev_cmd into it until we really commit to the frame by handing
it to the transport - defer those operations until just before
we do that.
This doesn't entirely fix the bug with frames not getting sent
out after having been deferred due to DQA, because it doesn't
restore the info->driver_data[0] place that was already set to
zero (or another value) by the A-MSDU logic.

The firmware will soon actually look at the AID field, and
when it does that it'll try to ensure that the AID is never
changing. Due to the way the station is added, it may start
with an invalid AID before it's associated, so to ensure a
constant AID (once it becomes non-zero), track the station
state and set the AID only when the station is associated
and when it disassociates.

This fixes a long-standing bug that was introduced when this code
was introduced: cfg80211 passes a pointer, but we treat it as if
it was passing a value. The result is that we pass the pointer to
the firmware, instead of the value. It's not clear how this could
ever have worked, unless the firmware is ignoring this value.

When driver needs to access the contents of a streaming DMA buffer
without unmapping it it should call dma_sync_single_for_cpu().
Once the call has been made, the CPU "owns" the DMA buffer and can
work with it as needed.
Before the device accesses the buffer, however, ownership should be
transferred back to it with dma_sync_single_for_device().
Both calls weren't performed by the driver, resulting with odd paging
errors on some platforms. Fix it.

If iwl_mvm_find_free_queue() doesn't find a free queue, it will
return an inactive one.
However, not all the call paths free this queue before reassigning
it, which is a bug.
Check it in other paths and act accordingly.

Currently we have up to 3 phy contexts - defined by NUM_PHY_CTX.
However - some code paths validate the ID by using MAX_PHYS define
which is set to 4.
While there is no harm it is incorrect - since the maximum is 3.
Remove the define and use the correct one.
Cleanup the code a bit while at it.

Since offchannel activity doesn't always require a BSS, e.g. ANQP

For a000 devices the INIT and RT images are unified to one
image.
The changes in the flow are the following:
* Driver load only RT firmware - meaning that the nvm access
command will be done in the RT image load flow.
* A new command (NVM_ACCESS_COMPLETE) now signals to the FW that
the driver is done accessing the NVM and FW can proceed with phy
calibrations.
* Phy DB is no longer sent from INIT FW to be restored by driver
for the RT FW - all the phy DB is now internal to the FW.
INIT complete will now follow the NVM access command, without
phy DB calls before.
* Paging command is sent earlier in the flow before NVM access
to enable a complete load of FW.
* caution must be care when restart is called since we may have
not completed init flow even though we are in RT firmware.

We added the uAPSD enabled ACs and that made the
firmware choose to pull frames with uAPSD trigger
frames instead of PS-Poll.

The maximum number of firmware sections is now 32 instead of 16 for
a000 devices. Set the appropriate define. Avoid out of bounds access
in case there are more sections than the maximum set by driver.
Make the driver extensible to FW size changes by allocating the
section memory dynamically.

Due to some new features and changes, the firmware file will now
specify what type of memory to dump, in upper 8 bits of the type
field of the TLV. Parse it (types we don't understand are errors)
and teach the code to dump periphery memory.

There's no reason to be validating the memory dump types, or
checking them for duplication, or anything, since we really
just pass them through from the TLV to the dump.
Thus, change the way we handle memory dump TLVs to let the
driver just blindly use anything specified there, dumping it
into the memory dump output file.
This makes the system extensible without driver changes.

For unified images, we shouldn't restart the HW if suspend fails. The
only reason for restarting the HW with non-unified images is to go
back to the D0 image.

When the firmware restarts in a situation in which any station
has no queue reserved anymore because that queue was used, the
code will crash trying to access the queue_info array at the
offset 255, which is far too big. Fix this by checking that a
queue is actually reserved before writing its status.

A recent firmware change seems to have enabled thermal zones on the
iwlwifi driver. Unfortunately, my device fails when registering the
thermal zone. This doesn't stop the driver from attempting to unregister
the thermal zone at unload time, triggering a NULL pointer deference in
strlen() off the thermal_zone_device_unregister() path.
Don't unregister if name is NULL, for that case we failed registering.
Do the same for the cooling zone.

New firmwares support dynamic queue allocation (DQA), which enables
on-demand allocation of queues per RA/TID, instead of allocating them
statically per vif. This allows an AP to send, for instance, BE
traffic to STA2 even if it also needs to send traffic to a sleeping
STA1, without being blocked by the sleeping station.
The implementation in the driver is now ready, so we can enable this
feature by default when running firmwares that support it.

Currently when configuring the cab queue the scheduler is configured
without station id - which results in station id 0.
In DQA mode this causes firmware to assert later on when the actual
station 0 is added with an empty tfd_queue_mask.
Fix that by configuring the queue to the broadcast station.
This is a bit trickier since the queue should not be included in the
tfd_queue_mask of the ADD_STA since it is a multicast queue, and the
tfd_queue_mask is only unicast queue. As a result the queue should be
enabled only after the broadcast station is added.

When a peer associates, the firmware will soon want to know
its AID to be able to compute the TIM IE by itself.
In DQA, the firmware has all the information it needs to
update the TIM internally. The only missing part is the
AID.

When using RSS on 9000 series devices, we can't rely on processing the
received frames for station powersave handling, since they could be
processed on different CPUs and out of order.
In order to still manage the powersave of stations, the firmware sends
a notification on sleep->wake, wake->sleep and - for U-APSD - frames
received with PM while already sleeping (with the TID.)
With this, the driver can set AP_LINK_PS, which is required for real
parallel RX. In addition, this requires checking for PS-Poll frames
and calling ieee80211_sta_pspoll() appropriately.

When a STA has deferred traffic to TX, an appropriate bit
is turned on in %deferred_tx_frames to indicate deferred
traffic. This marking is never turned off, resulting in
iterating over TIDs with no deferred traffic.
Although this didn't cause any failures/errors/bugs, there
is still no point of iterating over these TIDs when not
needed.

When we sync the RX queues the driver waits to receive echo
notification on all the RX queues.
The wait queue is set with timeout until all queues have received
the notification.
However, iwl_mvm_rx_queue_notif() never woke up the wait queue,
with the result of the counter value being checked only when the
timeout expired.
This may cause a latency of up to 1 second.

If the suspend flow fails, we restart the hardware to go back to
the D0 image (with non-unified images), but we don't comply with
the fw_restart module parameter. If something goes wrong when
starting the D3 image, we may want to debug it, so we should
comply with the fw_restart flag to avoid clearing everything up
and losing the firmware state when the error occurred.

In iwl_dbgfs_mem_read(), the len variable may become negative and is
compared to < 0 (an error case). Comparing size_t (which is unsigned)
to < 0 causes a warning on certain platforms (like i386):

FW versions older than -17 for 3160 and 7260 and older than -22 for

We were assigning the return value of iwl_mvm_ctdp_command() to a
variable, but never checking it. If this command fails, we should not
allow the interface up process to proceed, since it is potentially
dangerous to ignore thermal management requirements.

In order to access cached/paged memory, there are a couple of firmware
commands (one for UMAC and one for LMAC) that let the host access memory
and registers indirectly. Since this is done by the firmware on behalf
of the host, even if memory is paged out or cached, the host will
retrieve the memory as the firmware sees it (paged out memory will get
paged in).
Export this mechanism via a debugfs entry for both read and write
access.
WARNING: This mechanism has no protections at all. Invalid addresses may
crash or hang the firmware. Writing to arbitrary memory also comes with
no guarantees.

There's no need for the common MAC context function to have an
if on AP mode, the values can be overridden in the AP-specific
function later. Clean that up by adding the full command as a
new parameter to the AP-specific function, and doing it there.

When we get an unexpected Block Ack Request frame, the BAID from
the hardware will be invalid, and we'll pass it to mac80211 for
further handling (sending a delBA action frame.)

but the BAR itself.

There was recently a Full AP mode feature added where hostap adds
the station at auth stage, and not assoc.
However, when running with legacy hostapd, we get the auth response
before station was added, and tx_skb_non_sta fails to allocate
a queue, resulting in a complete failure of association.
Take care of this situation as well.
Add a warning when no valid queue is returned at all and make mvm
drop the packet instead of passing it on.
Refactor the function a bit while at it.

If the firmware ever decides to send any new/more notifications
to the RSS queues, the driver would currently try to interpret
those as REPLY_RX_MPDU_CMD and, if the notification was small,
access invalid memory.
Prevent that by checking for REPLY_RX_MPDU_CMD explicitly which
allows ignoring unexpected notifications.

When a STA is removed in DQA mode, if no traffic went through
its reserved queue, the txq continues to be marked as
reserved and no STA can use it.
Make sure that in such a case the reserved queue is marked
as free when the STA is removed.

In iwl_mvm_rx_tx_cmd_single(), when checking if a given TID is
aggregated, the driver doesn't check whether or not the queue
itself can be aggregated. For example, a management queue might
be marked as aggregated if TID 0 is aggregated on a (different)
data queue.
Make sure that mgmt frames are sent with TID IWL_TID_NON_QOS,
and in this way make sure no mixups of this sort happen.

In a000 devices we have 15 fifos, so in the shared memory
config the number of tx fifos in the array was changed
accordingly.
As it is in the middle of the struct, the parsing code needs
to be duplicated.
To minimize the duplication, do not save variables we never
actually use.

Since the SCD_QUEUE_CFG command was introduced the driver
calls iwl_trans_txq_enable_cfg() with a NULL for scd_cfg
parameter.
This makes the transport avoid writing to the SCD pointers,
since it can cause races with firmware, which is also accessing
the registers.
The transport only updates the write pointer in that case.
Fix a wrong call to iwl_trans_txq_enable() which caused a
scd_cfg parameter to be sent to transport, resulting with an
access to SCD registers.

Off-channel action frames (such as ANQP frames) must be sent either on
the AUX queue or on the offchannel queue, otherwise the firmware will
cause a SYSASSERT.
In the current implementation, the queue to be used is correctly set in
the original skb, but this is done after it is copied. Thus the copy
remains with the original, incorrect queue.
Fix this by setting the queue in the original skb before copying it.

Every active TXQ is assigned to a TID given through the
SCD_CONFIG_CMD, and acts as an identifier in the FW. However,
there may be cases this ownership needs to be changed.
For example, in the following scenario:
1. TID x is owner of a queue
2. Due to a shortage of queues, TID y and z share with x
3. TID x becomes inactive and needs to be removed from the
shared queue.
In this scenario, if another queue is freed and traffic on x
continues, we can't allocate it a new queue as long as it is
the owner of the first queue.
Support moving ownership of a TXQ to a different TID (same
STA) without stopping the queue.

When working in DQA mode, if a queue is shared and a HW restart
occurs, there might be a possible race condition between
stations on the queues, and an existing queue might be left
with no queues.
To solve this, make sure in DQA mode to re-assign the same
queues as before the HW restart.

When sending the SCD_QUEUE_CONFIG command, the queue is
associated to a specific TID. If later there is a need to
use this TID on a different queue instead, it first needs to
be unassociated from the first queue.
Keep track for every queue what TID is associated with it.

The 9000 hardware will de-aggregate AMSDUs. In the process
it will copy the mac header "as is" to the new MPDUs.
This means driver should allow the same PN for MPDUs originated
from the same AMSDU.
Do that by incrementing the PN only for the last MPDU in the
sequence.

Add support for the v4 version of the TX power command. Just add a
new version and do the same sizing tricks that were done when support
for v3 was introduced.
This patch doesn't support the new functionality introduced, but makes

The PCIe transport needs to store two pointers in each TX SKB, and
currently assumes mac80211's ieee80211_tx_info is present in the CB
to do that.
In order to remove that assumption, have the opmodes pass in the
offset to where the pointers can be stored in the CB and use the
offset in the PCIe code.
To make the disentanglement complete, remove mac80211.h includes
from everywhere in the generic iwlwifi code. This required adding
an include of cfg80211.h in one place.

Restart flow zeroes the rx_ba_sessions counter. Mac80211 asks

Make sure that in DQA mode, the SCD's configuration of a
queue is redirected to the lower AC of the streams of the
queue.
Make sure that this queue is redirected to the lowest AC
when adding a new RA/TID to an existing queue. If it isn't -
redirect the queue.
Also, as redirection revealed a bug in the marking of a
shared queue, this patch contains a small fix to make
sure a shared queue maintains the appropriate "shared queue
marking".

The TX fifos are arranged consecutively in the SMEM, beginning
with the regular fifos, and tailed by the internal fifos.
In the current code, while trying to read the internal fifos,
we read the fifos beginning with the index zero.
By doing this we actually re-read the regular fifos.
In order to read the internal fifos, start the reading index
from the number of regular fifos configured by the fw.

Newer hardware supports GCMP and GCMP 256-bit ciphers.
Add support for adding/setting GCMP key for TX mode.
In the TX command handling GCMP-256 is handled in a different
way as the key size should be up to 128-bits:
Set the key value to the key index in the key table,
and specify that this key should be taken form the key table
instead of from the TX command.
While at it - convert security control flags to an enum.

Fix an issue where nullfunc frames and block ack requests
had the same tid as aggregation frames and were queued on
a non aggregation queue. The pending frames counter included
those frames but the check whether to decrement the pending
frames counter relied on the tid status and not on the txq id.
The result was an inconsistent state of the pending frames
counter followed by a failure to remove the station.
This failure triggered SYSASSERT 0x3421.
In addition, fix a situation in DQA mode where the number
of pending frames turned negative. This was due to the TX queue
being on the IWL_EMPTYING_HW_QUEUE_DELBA state and its frames
were still decremented.
Even though the SYSASSERT issue is fixed when DQA is disabled,
the issue is not completely solved when DQA is enabled and
should still be fixed.

unhide -Wmaybe-uninitialized warnings by default was merged,
though it always existed in randconfig builds. I did not
catch the warning earlier because I was testing on ARM, which

This rearranges the code in a way that improves readability for
both humans and the compiler, and that avoids the warning.

Set the correct sta_id in the SCD_QUEUE_CONFIG command sent
to the FW when enabling/disabling queues. This is needed in
DQA-mode to allow the FW to associate between queue and STA.
In case the queue isn't connected to a specific station but
rather is a static "generic" queue - the sta_id should be
set to 0x10 (max supported STA is 0x0f).

Support DQA queue sharing when no free queue exists for
allocation to a STA that already exists. This means that
a single queue will serve more than a single TID (although
the RA will be the same for all TIDs served).
We try to choose the lowest AC possible, to ensure the
shared queues have the lowest possible combined AC
requirements. The queue to share is chosen only from the
same RA's DATA queues as follows (in descending priority):
1. An AC_BE queue
2. Same AC queue
3. Highest AC queue that is lower than new AC
4. Any existing AC (there always is at least 1 DATA queue)
If any aggregations existed for any of the TIDs of the
shared queue - they are stopped (the FW is notified), but
no delBA is sent.

Some transports may sleep when writing to registers, which is done
when calling iwl_force_nmi(). So we can't call iwl_force_nmi() in a
timer context. To solve that, convert the scan timeout timer to a
delayed work.

Theoretically we may get only one IRQ from OS, in which
case we will have only 1 queue even in MSIx mode.
This will cause division by zero in the indirection table
calculation.
We do not need send the command in that case, as there is
only one queue so all RX traffic will be directed to it
anyway. Bail out early if there is only one queue.

Support marking queues as inactive upon a timeout expiring,
and allow inactive queues to be re-assigned to other RA/TIDs
if no other queue is free.
This is done by keeping a timestamp of the latest frame TXed
for every RA/TID, and then going over the queues currently in
use when a new queue is needed, inactivating all those that
are inactive.

Add support CSA countdown offloading. When CSA starts, the driver
specifies the offsets to the eCSA and CSA IEs in the beacon template
command and the fw performs the countdown.
The fw notifies the driver when the channel switch flow
should be performed.
Beacon sent notifications are not used anymore.

In multiple RX queues architecture, the RX_PHY notification
is no longer useful as it is received in the default queue
even for packets that are received on RSS queue, and cannot
be accessed without locking.
All the needed data is in the new RX packet metadata and
firmware will no longer send this notification for 9000
devices. Remove support of it.

We cannot trust NSSN for AMSDU sub-frames that are not the
last.
The reason is that NSSN advances on the first sub-frame,
and may cause the reorder buffer to advance before all the
sub-frames arrive.
Example:
Reorder buffer contains SN 0 & 2.
We receive AMSDU with SN 1 and NSSN for first sub frame 3.
The result us that driver releases SN 0,1, 2.
When sub-frame 1 arrives - reorder buffer is already ahead and
it will be dropped.
If the last sub-frame is not on this queue - we will get frame
release notification with up to date NSSN.

The new hardware that supports multiple queue also
de-aggregates A-MSDUs. This means that we can advertise
the maximal size of A-MSDUs regardless of the receive
buffer's size.
In order to be able to forcefully use a lower A-MSDU size,
add a default value for the module parameter. Pre-9000
will have a default of 4K, and 9000 will have 12K.
Setting the amsdu_size module parameter to 4K will limit
the A-MSDU on 9000 as well.

The FW expect the driver to set the encryption algorithm type when
installing the IGTK key in the HW.
Currently when installing CMAC IGTK key we don't set the algorithm type
and as a result the FW fails to calculate the MIC of multicast management
frames.

The 16 seconds timeout we were using turned out to be too short.
Recalculations by system show that the total time in both bands should
be < 18.5 seconds, even in the slowest cases (e.g. DCM P2P with
DTIM=2). Rounding it up to 20 seconds for a bit more safety.

numbers, and a few other assorted changes, details in the shortlog.
All have been in linux-next for some time with no reported issues.

In non-shared queues, DQA requires re-configuring existing
queues to become aggregated rather than allocating a new
one. It also requires "un-aggregating" an existing queue
when aggregations are turned off.
Support this requirement for non-shared queues.

The commit below added code to dump the content of FIFOs
that are present only on dual CPU products (8000 and up).
This broke 7265D whose firmware does advertise
IWL_UCODE_TLV_CAPA_EXTEND_SHARED_MEM_CFG but doesn't have 2
CPUs. The current code does check the length of the FIFO
before dumping them (and the nonexistent FIFO has a 0
length), but we still accessed a register to set the FIFO
number and that made the DMA unhappy.
The impact was a much longer recovery upon firmware assert.

Getting the mvm station out of station id requires dereferencing
the station id to get ieee80211_sta, then checking for pointer
validity and only then extract mvm station out.
Given that there are helpers to do it - use them instead of
duplicating the code whenever we need only mvm station.

Up till now, the reorder buffer uses standard spec based comparison
when comparing the buffer status to NSSN. This indeed works for the
regular case, since we shouldn't cross the 2048 boundary without
getting a frame release notification.
However, this is problematic due to packet filtering that may be
performed by the FW while we are in d0i3. Theoretically we may
filter over 2048 packets, and then the check of the NSSN will get
incorrect.
Change the comparison to always trust nssn unless it is 64 or less
frames behind the head - which might happen due to a timeout.
This new comparison is to be used only when comparing reorder buffer
head with nssn, and not when comparing the packet SN to nssn or
reorder buffer head.
Put this in a separate commit as the logic is a bit tricky and
stands for its own commit message.

Currently code allows mvm reference to become negative and
only warns in case mvm reference is released while reference
counting is 0.
However, we better prevent this from happening at all since
iwl_mvm_unref() may race against iwl_mvm_unref_all_except()
which is called on restart.
As a result we might get the same reference unreferenced twice
ending with a negative value:

Add UREG, RXFC, RFH, WMAL and RL2P registers to the prph dump
upon error. These regesiters could help to debug MSI-X and other
issues.
These register should be dumped only when multi-queue rx is supported
so separate the prph ranges static array to two different arrays,
and enable dumping different prph ranges according to run-time
decision.

When a data packet is received, we need to make sure that we stay
awake until it can be processed and wait a while before trying to
enter runtime_suspend os system_suspend again. To do so, add a new
reference type for RX data and take the reference when sending the
packet to mac80211. We only do this for data packets, all the other
RX packets sent by the firmware (e.g. notifications) are not a reason
to prevent suspend.

When we've already looked up the transmitter station, we can just
pass it to mac80211 using the new ieee80211_rx_napi(). This saves
the overhead of looking it up in mac80211 again.

If a host command was queued while in runtime suspend, it would go out
before the D0I3_END_CMD was sent. Sometimes it works, but sometimes
it fails, and it is obviously the wrong thing to do.
To fix this, have the opmode take a reference before sending a SYNC
command and make the pcie trans wait for the runtime state to become
active before actually queueing the command.

There is a debugfs knob to configure the maximal length
of the A-MSDU. If this value is not 0 (which is the
default), allow Tx A-MSDU even if the rate control
disallows it.
While at it, add "unlikely" to the if that limits the
length of the A-MSDU based on the debugfs hook.

existing flag in the ADD_STA HCMD (that hasn't been in use)
has been changed to indicate that a queue is being removed
from a STA.

The firmware will send frame release notification in order
to release "stuck" frames on a queue where no more frames
arrive on.
Upon receiving the message the driver shall indicate the frames

Add a timer in order to release expired frames from the
reorder buffer.
This is needed since some APs do not retransmit frames
to fill in the reorder holes and in TCP it results with
a complete stall of traffic.
This has a few side effects on the general design:
The nssn may not reflect the the head of the reorder buffer.
This situation is valid, and packets with SN lower than the
reorder buffer head will be dropped.
Another side effect is that since the reorder timer might expire
we need to lock the reorder buffer.
This however is fine since the locking is only inside a
single reorder buffer between RX path and reorder timeout and
there is no outside contention.

Next hardware will direct packets to core based on the TCP/UDP
streams.
This logic can create holes in reorder buffer since packets that
belong to other stream were directed to a different core.
However, those are valid holes and the packets can be indicated
in L3 order.
The hardware will utilize a mechanism of informing the driver of
the normalized ssn and the driver shall release all packets that
SN is lower than the nssn.
This enables managing the reorder across the queues without sharing
any data between them.
The reorder buffer is allocated and released directly in the RX path
in order to avoid various races between control path and rx path.
The code utilizes the internal messaging to notify rx queues of when
to delete the reorder buffer.

According to the spec when a BA session is started there
is a timeout set for the session in the ADDBA request.
If there is not activity on the TA/TID then the session
expires and a DELBA is sent.
In order to check for the timeout, data must be shared
among the rx queues.
Add a timer that runs as long as BA session is active
for the station and stops aggregation session if needed.
This patch also lays the infrastructure for the reordering
buffer which will be enabled in the next patches.

Currently the sync notification is a type of notification. However, it
is better fitted as an attribute of a notification, since there might
be another message in the payload (delba for instance) that should be
sent while control path is waiting for all queues to process.

mac80211 will call the driver whenever there is a race between
RSS queues and control path that requires a processing of all
pending frames in RSS queues.
Implement that by utilizing the internal notification mechanism:
queue a message to all queues. When the message is received on
a queue it decrements the atomic counter. This guarantees that
all pending frames in the RX queue were processed since the message
is in order inside the queue.

The TSO code creates A-MSDUs from a single large send. Each
A-MSDU is an skb and skb->len doesn't include the number of
bytes which need to be added for the headers being added
(subframe header, TCP header, IP header, SNAP, padding).
To be able to set the right value in the Tx command, we
put the number of bytes added by those headers in
driver_data in iwl_mvm_tx_tso and use this value in
iwl_mvm_set_tx_cmd.
The problem by setting this value in driver_data is that
it overrides the ieee80211_tx_info. The bug manifested
itself when we send P2P related frames in CCK since the
rate in ieee80211_tx_info is zero-ed. This of course is
a violation of the P2P specification.
To fix this, copy the original ieee80211_tx_info to the
stack and pass it to the functions which need it.
Assign the number of bytes added by the headers to the
driver_data inside the skb itself.

Add scatterlist support (dev_coredumpsg) to allow drivers to avoid
vmalloc() like dev_coredumpm(), while also avoiding the module
reference that the latter function requires.
This internally uses dev_coredumpm() with function inside the
devcoredump module, requiring removing the const
(which touches the driver using it.)

This enum is already perfectly aliased to enum nl80211_band, and
the only reason for it is that we get IEEE80211_NUM_BANDS out of
it. There's no really good reason to not declare the number of
bands in nl80211 though, so do that and remove the cfg80211 one.

The firwmare file can come with data that is relevant for paging. This
data is availablet to the firmware upon request, but it stored in the
host's memory. During the firmware init flow, the driver configures the
firmware so that the firwmare knows where is the data.
When paging is used, the variable paging_mem_size is the number of bytes
that are available through paging. This variable is not zeror-ed if the
driver fails to configure the paging in the firmware, but the memory is
freed which is inconsistent.
This inconsistency led to a NULL pointer dereference in the code that
collects the debug data.
Fix this by zero-ing the paging_mem_size variable and NULLify the
relevant pointers, so that the code that collects the debug data will
know that the paging data is not available.

Sometimes drivers already looked up, or know out-of-band
from their device, which station transmitted a given RX
frame. Allow them to pass the station pointer to mac80211

We were not allowing the thermal state to be set when we were in D0i3
mode. It was not very clearly specified how it should work, but now a
decision was made to allow the state to be set in D0i3 (which will
cause a brief wake up). Remove the check in the set_cur_state
operation.

Currently reading the fw memory segments is done according to
addresses and data length that are hard-coded.
Lately a new tlv was appended to the ucode, that contains
the data type, length and address.
Parse this tlv, and in run-time store the memory segments length
and addresses that would be dumped upon a fw error.

If something goes wrong with the firmware and we never get a scan
complete notification, we stay stuck forever. In order to avoid this
situation, add a timeout and trigger an NMI if it expires before
receiving the notification., so we can clean things up.

Currently the code checks if hardware reported both L4 and L3
checksums as valid, and only then reports it as validated to
the stack.
However, IPv6 does not have checksum at all and the L3 checksum
valid bit is always off for IPv6 packets, with the result of the
stack re-validating L4 checksum.
Fix code to set CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY also for IPv6 packets whose
TCP/UDP checksum was verified.

"DQA" is shorthand for "dynamic queue allocation". This
enables on-demand allocation of queues per RA/TID rather than
statically allocating per vif, thus allowing a potential
benefit of various factors.
Please refer to the DOC section this patch adds to sta.h to
see a more in-depth explanation of this feature.
There are many things to take into consideration when working
in DQA mode, and this patch is only one in a series. Note that
default operation mode is non-DQA mode, unless the FW
indicates that it supports DQA mode.
This patch enables support of DQA for a station connected to
an AP, and works in a non-aggregated mode.
When a frame for an unused RA/TID arrives at the driver, it
isn't TXed immediately, but deferred first until a suitable
queue is first allocated for it, and then TXed by a worker
that both allocates the queues and TXes deferred traffic.
When a STA is removed, its queues goes back into the queue
pools for reuse as needed.

TX CMD API has changed to support offload assist.
Currently we do not enable checksum yet, but must set the
padding indication, to avoid FW errors.
Set other amsdu flag as well.
The rest of the flags will be configured only if HW csum
is enabled and will be set in future patches.
This change is backward compatible.

LQM stands for Link Quality Measurement. The firmware
will collect a defined set of statitics (see the
notification for details) that allow to know how busy
the medium is. The driver issues a request to the firmware
that includes the duration of the measurement (the firmware
needs to be on channel for that amount of time) and the
timeout (in case the firmware has a lot of offchannel
activities). If the timeout elapses, the firmware will
send partial results which are still valuable.
In case of disassociation / channel switch and alike, the
driver is in charge of stopping the measurements and the
firmware will reply with partial results.
The user space API for now is debugfs only and will be
implmemented in an upcoming patch.

Currently paging download buffer is freed during the
the unloading of the opmode which happens when the driver
is unloaded.
This causes a memory leak since the paging download
buffer is allocated every time we enable the
interface, so the download buffer can be allocated many
times, but only be freed once.
Free paging download buffer during disabling of the
interface.

In case of FW error, support dumping the UMAC internal txfifos.
To do so, support version 2 of shared memory cfg command, which
contains the sizes of the internal txfifos, and move the command
to the system group.

Paging contains 3 sections in the fw. The first for the paging separator,
The second for the CSS block, the third with the paging data.
Currently if the driver finds the paging separator, and there is only
section left (CSS), once reading the CSS section, the driver will
attempt to read the paging data and will go out of the arrays bounds.
Make sure that the FW image contains the right amount of sections for
paging.

Currently the driver has 2 buffers for paging:
1. paging db - this contains all of the pages that were in the FW
image, that the driver stores for the FW. This is allocated for each
block separately (not contiguous).
2. download buffer - we need to provide this empty buffer for the
iwl_sdio_load_fw_chunk function to copy the requested pages to the shared
memory. This is one big buffer of contiguous memory whose size is the
size of all the blocks that the fw paging section can contain.
This download buffer size is too big, and causes the allocation to fail
sometimes. Since the driver allocates memory for each block separately,
it is not possible for the FW to request all of the pages in one request
(the FW gives an address and size, so blocks need to be contiguous for
this to happen), therefore the FW is limited to request only one block.
Decrease the size of the paging download buffer to be the size of a
paging block.

The firmware/hardware only supports checking AES-CMAC on RX, not
using it on TX. For station mode this is fine, since it's the only
thing it will ever do. For AP mode, it never receives such frames,
but must be able to transmit them. This is currently broken since
we try to enable them for hardware crypto (for RX only) and then
treat them as TX_CMD_SEC_EXT, leading to FIFO underruns during TX
so the frames never go out to the air.
To fix this, simply use software on TX in AP (and IBSS) mode.

Newer firmware versions put different data in the memory
which is read by the driver upon firmware crash. Just
change the variable names in the code and the name of the
data in the log that we print withouth any functional
change.
On older firmware, there will be a mismatch between the
names that are printed and the content itself, but that's
harmless.

iwl_mvm_tcool_get_cur_state is the function that returns the
cooling state index to the sysfs handler. This function returns
mvm->cooling_dev.cur_state but that variable was set to the
budget and not the cooling state index. Fix that.
Add a missing blank line while at it.

We need to track the next packet that we will reclaim in
order to know when the Tx queues are empty. This is useful
when we open or tear down an A-MPDU session which requires
to switch queue.
The next packet being reclaimed is identified by its WiFi
sequence number and this is relevant only when we use QoS.
QoS NDPs do have a TID but have a meaningless sequence
number. The spec mandates the receiver to ignore the
sequence number in this case, allowing the transmitter to
put any sequence number. Our implementation leaves it 0.
When we reclaim a QoS NDP, we can't update the next_relcaim
counter since the sequence number of the QoS NDP itself is
invalid.
We used to update the next_reclaim based on the sequence
number of the QoS NDP which reset it to 1 (0 + 1) and
because of this, we never knew when the queue got empty.
This had to sad consequence to stuck the A-MPDU state
machine in a transient state.
To fix this, don't update next_reclaim when we reclaim
a QoS NDP.
Alesya saw this bug when testing u-APSD. Because the
A-MPDU state machine was stuck in EMPTYING_DELBA, we
updated mac80211 that we still have frames for that
station when it got back to sleep. mac80211 then wrongly
set the TIM bit in the beacon and requested to release
non-existent frames from the A-MPDU queue. This led to
a situation where the client was trying to poll frames
but we had no frames to send.

When running async rx handler the framework holds the mvm->mutex
before starting the async handler, that might cause a deadlock in case
the handler calls to ops that lock the mutex as well.
Add support for running async rx handler without hold the mutex before
activating the handler.

Currently when the FW sends start/stop aux roc time event
notification with an error status, the driver returns an
error value, but does not remove the time event, and does
not notify the stack above that the time event is over.
This causes problems that the stack above assumes we are still
in the middle of a time event, and therefore can block different
events, such as scanning.
On FW failure notification, cleanup the time event parameters and
notify the stack above that the time event is over.

Our hardware de-aggregates AMSDUs but copies the mac header
as it to the de-aggregated MPDUs. We need to turn off the AMSDU
bit in the QoS control ourselves.

Before authentication, we start a time event during
which we wait for a beacon in order to sync our timers.
If we didn't hear the beacon during this time - we abandon
the connection. However, in congested environment, it was
observed we might not hear beacons in that time slot.
Extend the time event to give the connection a better chance.

The call to iwl_mvm_thermal_initialize() was too early in the
function.
Unregister will be performed when goto out_unregister is called,
but as the code was - out_free may be called and leave without
unregistering from thermal.

It makes it slightly easier to follow. Pass the pointer to
the transport which allows to read WFMP_MAC_ADDR_X register
only when needed and to use IWL_ERR instead of the less
commonly used IWL_ERR_DEV logger macro.

Thermal zone device registration can fail, and in this case
we don't want to remove WiFi functionality. This is why the
thermal zone registration function is void, and the flows
continue even if the thermal zone device registration failed.
Same applies for the cooling device.
This means that we at least need to remember that the thermal
zone device didn't register properly and take the minimal
precautions to avoid panic'ing when we access it.
This was missing.
