In this step, the read/write routines for the descriptors are converted
to use __le32 quantities, thus a lot of casts can be removed. Callback
routines still use the 8-bit arrays, but these are changed within the
specified routine.
The macro that cleared a descriptor has now been converted into an inline
routine.

As a first step in the conversion, the macros that set the RX and TX
descriptors are converted to static inline routines, and the names are
changed from upper to lower case. To minimize the changes in a given
step, the input descriptor information is left as as a byte array
(u8 *), even though it should be a little-endian word array (__le32 *).
That will be changed later.

This driver uses a set of local macros to manipulate the RX and TX
descriptors, which are all little-endian quantities. These macros
are replaced by the bitfield macros le32p_replace_bits() and
le32_get_bits(). In several places, the macros operated on an entire
32-bit word. In these cases, a direct read or replacement is used.

ofdm_index_old[] is the index of ofdmswing_table[], and used to indicate
initial value of ROFDM0_X{A,B}TXIQIMBALANCE in rtl8192de_phy_reg_2tarray[]
table, and the initial value is corresponding to calibration thermal value
written in efuse, namely rtlefuse->eeprom_thermalmeter. Then, local
variable ofdm_index_old[] save to rtlpriv->dm.ofdm_index[] for operational
use.
If thermal value (temperature) is increasing, output TX power is lower.
So, we calculate the delta between current and calibration thermal value,
then add power to yield expected and the same output TX power.
Thus, ofdm_index[] should be initialized as rtlpriv->dm.ofdm_index[], and
shift to proper index depends on delta of thermal value. Then, new power
value ofdmswing_table[ofdm_index[]] is written to register.

descriptors is used to set bits in a variable that is used to save the

In drivers rtl8188ee, rtl8821ae, rtl8723be, and rtl8192ee, the reason
for a wake-up is returned in the fourth RX descriptor in bits 29-31. Due
to typographical errors, all but rtl8821ae test bit 31 twice and fail to
test bit 29.
This error causes no problems as the tests are only used to set bits in
the output of an optional debugging statement.

This patch moves the clearing of rtlpriv->link_info.num_rx_inperiod in
rtl_watchdog_wq_callback a few lines down.
This is necessary since it is still used in the "AP off" detection
code block. Moved clearing of rtlpriv->link_info.num_rx_inperiod
as well for consistency.

This re-introduces the function rtl8723e_dm_refresh_rate_adaptive_mask.
This function was present in a previous version of the code base,
it works just fine for me -- as long as it is not using stale data.
Unlike the original version of this function it avoids using
dm.undec_sm_pwdb when no beacon was received.
Fixed a style nit in rtl8723e_dm_init_rate_adaptive_mask.

When no beacon was received, the value in dm.undec_sm_pwdb is most
likely out of date and should not be used to adjust the input path.
Assume instead that the signal level is low.
Fix the state machine in rtl8723e_dm_cck_packet_detection_thresh
which did not clear pre_cck_fa_state when changing cur_cck_pd_state
from CCK_PD_STAGE_LOWRSSI/CCK_FA_STAGE_LOW to CCK_PD_STAGE_HIGHRSSI
and back again to CCK_PD_STAGE_LOWRSSI/CCK_FA_STAGE_LOW, the register
RCCK0_CCA not written to 0x83 on the second change.
Explicitly initialize pre_cck_fa_state/cur_cck_fa_state in

This appears to trigger a firmware bug and causes severe
problems with rtl8723ae PCI devices.
When the power save mode is activated for longer periods
of time the firmware stops to receive any packets.
This problem was exposed by commit 873ffe154a ("rtlwifi:
Fix logic error in enter/exit power-save mode").
Previously the power save mode was only active rarely and
only for a short time so that the problem was not noticeable.

Without this patch, firmware will not run properly on rtl8821ae, and it
causes bad user experience. For example, bad connection performance with
low rate, higher power consumption, and so on.
rtl8821ae uses two kinds of firmwares for normal and WoWlan cases, and
each firmware has firmware data buffer and size individually. Original
code always overwrite size of normal firmware rtlpriv->rtlhal.fwsize, and
this mismatch causes firmware checksum error, then firmware can't start.
In this situation, driver gives message "Firmware is not ready to run!".

This patch ensures all delayed works done before entering PS to satisfy
our expectation, so use cancel_delayed_work_sync() instead. An exception
is delayed work ips_nic_off_wq because running task may be itself, so add
a parameter ips_wq to deinit function to handle this case.

In former patch, I enqueu all C2H commands and processed by a workqueue.
In case C2H_BT_INFO will issue a H2C command to set BT reg, and wait for
a C2H ack. But it is totally impossible that C2H workqueue waits for a
C2H command, so kernel log warn
rtlwifi: :<0> btmpinfo wait (req_num=0) timeout
Since the C2H ack command C2H_BT_MP can be safely processed in interrupt
context, add a fast command path to deal with the command.

The format of C2H data is ID(1 byte) + Length(1 byte) + value, and it is
more readable to use macros to access C2H data.

We use 'struct rtl_c2hcmd' to store C2H commands originally, and the code
is slightly complex to enqueue and dequeue and also wastes time to
allocate and memcpy data. Since C2H commands are asynchronous events,
they can be processed in work queue, so RX ISR enqueues C2H result in
removal of rtl_c2h_packet_handler().

Similar to rx_command_packet, we can call rtl_c2h_content_parsing so the
hal_op isn't necessary.

Because the hal_op rx_command_packet does C2H handler if rx packet type
is C2H, and the handler have been moved to base.c so we can call the
handler directly.

We're going to merge C2H handler into one, but one special case is to
handle RA_REPORT that implements in individual IC folder. So this commit
adds a hal_op for caller in common code.

In order to realize the keep-alive mechanism in mac80211 stack, reporting
accurate tx ack status for nullfunc frame is added in this commit.
If current frame is nullfunc frame, we ask firmware to report by filling
TX report bit in TX descriptor. After this frame DMA done, TX interrupt is
triggered but TX status is unknown at this moment, so enqueue this skb
into tx_report->queue. Finally, C2H report will be received if the frame
is transmitted successfully or retried over, and then we report to mac80211
with IEEE80211_TX_STAT_ACK flag only if it's successful. Otherwise, if
failure or timeout (one second), we report to mac80211 without this flag.
