8a1b09ed43 dt-bindings: irqchip: Add PRU-ICSS interrupt controller bindings
The Programmable Real-Time Unit and Industrial Communication Subsystem
(PRU-ICSS or simply PRUSS) contains an interrupt controller (INTC) that
can handle various system input events and post interrupts back to the
device-level initiators. The INTC can support up to 64 input events on
most SoCs with individual control configuration and h/w prioritization.
These events are mapped onto 10 output interrupt lines through two levels
of many-to-one mapping support. Different interrupt lines are routed to
the individual PRU cores or to the host CPU or to other PRUSS instances.

The K3 AM65x and J721E SoCs have the next generation of the PRU-ICSS IP,
commonly called ICSSG. The ICSSG interrupt controller on K3 SoCs provide
a higher number of host interrupts (20 vs 10) and can handle an increased
number of input events (160 vs 64) from various SoC interrupt sources.

Add the bindings document for these interrupt controllers on all the
applicable SoCs. It covers the OMAP architecture SoCs - AM33xx, AM437x
and AM57xx; the Keystone 2 architecture based 66AK2G SoC; the Davinci
architecture based OMAPL138 SoCs, and the K3 architecture based AM65x
and J721E SoCs.

5f0b06da5c dt-bindings: Remove more cases of 'allOf' containing a '$ref'
Another wack-a-mole pass of killing off unnecessary 'allOf + $ref'
usage.

json-schema versions draft7 and earlier have a weird behavior in that
any keywords combined with a '$ref' are ignored (silently). The correct
form was to put a '$ref' under an 'allOf'. This behavior is now changed
in the 2019-09 json-schema spec and '$ref' can be mixed with other
keywords. The json-schema library doesn't yet support this, but the
tooling now does a fixup for this and either way works.

This has been a constant source of review comments, so let's change this
treewide so everyone copies the simpler syntax.

822ef14e9d ARM: SoC driver updates for v5.9
A couple of subsystems have their own subsystem maintainers but choose
to have the code merged through the soc tree as upstream, as the code
tends to be used across multiple SoCs or has SoC specific drivers itself:

  - memory controllers:
Krzysztof Kozlowski takes ownership of the drivers/memory
subsystem and its drivers, starting out with a set of cleanup
      patches.
A larger driver for the Tegra memory controller that was accidentally
missed for v5.8 is now added.

  - reset controllers:
Only minor updates to drivers/reset this time

  - firmware:
The "turris mox" firmware driver gains support for signed firmware blobs
The tegra firmware driver gets extended to export some debug information
Various updates to i.MX firmware drivers, mostly cosmetic

  - ARM SCMI/SCPI:
A new mechanism for platform notifications is added, among a number
      of minor changes.

  - optee:
Probing of the TEE bus is rewritten to better support detection of
devices that depend on the tee-supplicant user space.
A new firmware based trusted platform module (fTPM) driver is added
      based on OP-TEE

  - SoC attributes:
A new driver is added to provide a generic soc_device for identifying
a machine through the SMCCC ARCH_SOC_ID firmware interface rather than
by probing SoC family specific registers.
The series also contains some cleanups to the common soc_device code.

There are also a number of updates to SoC specific drivers,
 the main ones are:

  - Mediatek cmdq driver gains a few in-kernel interfaces

  - Minor updates to Qualcomm RPMh, socinfo, rpm drivers, mostly adding
    support for additional SoC variants

  - The Qualcomm GENI core code gains interconnect path voting and
performance level support, and integrating this into a number of
    device drivers.

  - A new driver for Samsung Exynos5800 voltage coupler for

  - Renesas RZ/G2H (R8A774E1) SoC support gets added to a couple of SoC
    specific device drivers

  - Updates to the TI K3 Ring Accelerator driver

Merge tag 'arm-drivers-5.9' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/soc/soc

Pull ARM SoC driver updates from Arnd Bergmann:
"A couple of subsystems have their own subsystem maintainers but choose
to have the code merged through the soc tree as upstream, as the code
tends to be used across multiple SoCs or has SoC specific drivers
  itself:

   - memory controllers:

Krzysztof Kozlowski takes ownership of the drivers/memory subsystem
and its drivers, starting out with a set of cleanup patches.

A larger driver for the Tegra memory controller that was
accidentally missed for v5.8 is now added.

   - reset controllers:

Only minor updates to drivers/reset this time

   - firmware:

The "turris mox" firmware driver gains support for signed firmware
blobs The tegra firmware driver gets extended to export some debug
information Various updates to i.MX firmware drivers, mostly
     cosmetic

   - ARM SCMI/SCPI:

A new mechanism for platform notifications is added, among a number
     of minor changes.

   - optee:

Probing of the TEE bus is rewritten to better support detection of
devices that depend on the tee-supplicant user space. A new
firmware based trusted platform module (fTPM) driver is added based
     on OP-TEE

   - SoC attributes:

A new driver is added to provide a generic soc_device for
identifying a machine through the SMCCC ARCH_SOC_ID firmware
interface rather than by probing SoC family specific registers.

The series also contains some cleanups to the common soc_device
     code.

There are also a number of updates to SoC specific drivers, the main
  ones are:

   - Mediatek cmdq driver gains a few in-kernel interfaces

   - Minor updates to Qualcomm RPMh, socinfo, rpm drivers, mostly adding
     support for additional SoC variants

   - The Qualcomm GENI core code gains interconnect path voting and
performance level support, and integrating this into a number of
     device drivers.

   - A new driver for Samsung Exynos5800 voltage coupler for

   - Renesas RZ/G2H (R8A774E1) SoC support gets added to a couple of SoC
     specific device drivers

   - Updates to the TI K3 Ring Accelerator driver"

e4fd970752 dt-bindings: interrupt-controller: Convert mti,gic to DT schema
Modern device tree bindings are supposed to be created as YAML-files
in accordance with DT schema. This commit replaces MIPS GIC legacy bare
text binding with YAML file. As before the binding file states that the
corresponding dts node is supposed to be compatible with MIPS Global
Interrupt Controller indicated by the "mti, gic" compatible string and
to provide a mandatory interrupt-controller and '#interrupt-cells'
properties. There might be optional registers memory range,
"mti,reserved-cpu-vectors" and "mti,reserved-ipi-vectors" properties
specified.

MIPS GIC also includes a free-running global timer, per-CPU count/compare
timers, and a watchdog. Since currently the GIC Timer is only supported the
DT schema expects an IRQ and clock-phandler charged timer sub-node with
"mti,mips-gic-timer" compatible string.

086e9074f5 dt-bindings: Remove more cases of 'allOf' containing a '$ref'
Another round of 'allOf' removals that came in this cycle.

json-schema versions draft7 and earlier have a weird behavior in that
any keywords combined with a '$ref' are ignored (silently). The correct
form was to put a '$ref' under an 'allOf'.

GIC in most modern SoCs, but was only introduced later into the kernel.
For historic reasons and to keep compatibility, some SoC DTs were thus
using a combination of this name and one of the older strings, which
currently the binding denies.

Add a stanza to the DT binding to allow "arm,gic-400", followed by
either "arm,cortex-a15-gic" or "arm,cortex-a7-gic". This fixes binding
compliance for quite some SoC .dtsi files in the kernel tree.

fba5618451 dt-bindings: Fix incorrect 'reg' property sizes
The examples template is a 'simple-bus' with a size of 1 cell for
had between 2 and 4 cells which really only errors on I2C or SPI type
devices with a single cell.

The easiest fix in most cases is to change the 'reg' property to for 1 cell
address and size. In some cases with child devices having 2 cells, that
doesn't make sense so a bus node is needed.

3d21a46093 dt-bindings: Remove cases of 'allOf' containing a '$ref'
json-schema versions draft7 and earlier have a weird behavior in that
any keywords combined with a '$ref' are ignored (silently). The correct
form was to put a '$ref' under an 'allOf'.

Scripted with ruamel.yaml with some manual fixups. Some minor whitespace
changes from the script.

7f464532b0 dt-bindings: Add missing 'additionalProperties: false'
Setting 'additionalProperties: false' is frequently omitted, but is
important in order to check that there aren't extra undocumented
properties in a binding.

Ideally, we'd just add this automatically and make this the default, but
there's some cases where it doesn't work. For example, if a common
schema is referenced, then properties in the common schema aren't part
of what's considered for 'additionalProperties'. Also, sometimes there
are bus specific properties such as 'spi-max-frequency' that go into
bus child nodes, but aren't defined in the child node's schema.

So let's stick with the json-schema defined default and add
'additionalProperties: false' where needed. This will be a continual
review comment and game of wack-a-mole.

cef7298262 ARM: DT updates for v5.4
This is another huge branch with close to 450 changessets related to
devicetree files, roughly half of this for 32-bit and 64-bit respectively.
There are lots of cleanups and additional hardware support for platforms
we already support based on SoCs from Renesas, ST-Microelectronics,
Intel/Altera, Rockchips, Allwinner, Broadcom and other manufacturers.

A total of 6 new SoCs and 37 new boards gets added this time, one more
SoC will come in a follow-up branch. Most of the new boards are for
64-bit ARM SoCs, the others are typically for the 32-bit Cortex-A7.

Going more into details for SoC platforms with new hardware support:

The Snapdragon 855 (SM8150) is Qualcomm's current high-end phone platform,
usually paired with an external 5G modem. So far we only support the
Qualcomm SM8150 MTP reference platform, but no actual products.

For the slightly older Qualcomm platforms, support for several interesting
products is getting added: Three laptops based on Snapdragon 835/MSM8998
(Asus NovaGo, HP Envy X2 and Lenovo Miix 630), one laptop based on
Snapdragon 850/sdm850 (Lenovo Yoga C630) and several phones based on
the older Snapdragon 410/MSM8916 (Samsung A3 and A5, Longcheer L8150
aka Android One 2nd gen "seed" aka Wileyfox Swift).

Mediatek MT7629 is a new wireless network router chip, similar to
the older MT7623. It gets added together with the reference board
 implementation.

Allwinner V3 is a repackaged version of the existing low-end V3s chip,
and is used in the tiny Lichee Pi Zero plus, also added here. There is
also a new TV set-top box based on Allwinner H6, the Tanix TX6, and the
eMMC variant of the Olimex A64-Olinuxino development board.

NXP i.MX8M Nano is a new member of the ever-expanding i.MX SoC family,
similar to the i.MX8M Mini. As usual, there is a large number of new
boards for i.MX SoCs: Einfochips i.MX8QXP AI_ML, SolidRun Hummingboard
Pulse baseboard and System-on-Module, Boundary Devices i.MX8MQ Nitrogen8M,
and TechNexion PICO-PI-IMX8M-DEV for the 64-bit i.MX8 line. For 32-bit,
we get the Kontron i.MX6UL N6310 SoM with two baseboards, the PHYTEC
phyBOARD-Segin SoM with three baseboards, and the Zodiac Inflight
 Innovations i.MX7 RMU2 board.

In a different NXP product line, the Layerscape LS1046A "Freeway"
 reference board gets added.

 Amlogic SM1 (S905X3) and G12B (S922X, A311D) are updated chips from their
set-top-box line and smart speaker with newer CPU and GPU cores compared
to their predecessors. Both are now also supported by the Khadas VIM3
development board series, and the dts files for that get reorganized a
bit to better deal with all variants. Another board based on SM1 that
gets added is the SEI Robotics SEI610.

There are a handful of new x86 and Power9 server boards using Aspeed BMC
chips that are gaining support for running Linux on the BMC through the
OpenBMC project: Facebook Minipack/Wedge100/Wedge40, Lenovo Hr855xg2,
and Mihawk. Notably these are still new machines using SoCs based on
the ARM9 and ARM11 CPU cores, as support for the new Cortex-A7 based
 AST2600 is still ramping up.

There are three new end-user products using 32-bit Rockchips SoCs:
Mecer Xtreme Mini S6 is an Android "mini PC" box based on the low-end
RK3229 chip, while the two AOpen products Chromebox Mini (Fievel) and
Chromebase Mini (Tiger) run ChromeOS and are meant for commercial settings
 (digital signage, PoS, ...).

One more single-board computer based on the popular 64-bit RK3399 is
 added: the Leez RK3399 P710.

Merge tag 'armsoc-dt' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/soc/soc

Pull ARM DT updates from Arnd Bergmann:
"This is another huge branch with close to 450 changessets related to
devicetree files, roughly half of this for 32-bit and 64-bit
respectively. There are lots of cleanups and additional hardware
support for platforms we already support based on SoCs from Renesas,
ST-Microelectronics, Intel/Altera, Rockchips, Allwinner, Broadcom and
  other manufacturers.

   - The Snapdragon 855 (SM8150) is Qualcomm's current high-end phone
platform, usually paired with an external 5G modem. So far we only
support the Qualcomm SM8150 MTP reference platform, but no actual
     products.

   - For the slightly older Qualcomm platforms, support for several
interesting products is getting added: Three laptops based on
Snapdragon 835/MSM8998 (Asus NovaGo, HP Envy X2 and Lenovo Miix
630), one laptop based on Snapdragon 850/sdm850 (Lenovo Yoga C630)
and several phones based on the older Snapdragon 410/MSM8916
(Samsung A3 and A5, Longcheer L8150 aka Android One 2nd gen "seed"
     aka Wileyfox Swift).

   - Mediatek MT7629 is a new wireless network router chip, similar to
the older MT7623. It gets added together with the reference board
     implementation.

   - Allwinner V3 is a repackaged version of the existing low-end V3s
chip, and is used in the tiny Lichee Pi Zero plus, also added here.
There is also a new TV set-top box based on Allwinner H6, the Tanix
TX6, and the eMMC variant of the Olimex A64-Olinuxino development
     board.

   - NXP i.MX8M Nano is a new member of the ever-expanding i.MX SoC
family, similar to the i.MX8M Mini. As usual, there is a large
number of new boards for i.MX SoCs: Einfochips i.MX8QXP AI_ML,
SolidRun Hummingboard Pulse baseboard and System-on-Module,
Boundary Devices i.MX8MQ Nitrogen8M, and TechNexion
PICO-PI-IMX8M-DEV for the 64-bit i.MX8 line. For 32-bit, we get the
Kontron i.MX6UL N6310 SoM with two baseboards, the PHYTEC
phyBOARD-Segin SoM with three baseboards, and the Zodiac Inflight
     Innovations i.MX7 RMU2 board.

   - In a different NXP product line, the Layerscape LS1046A "Freeway"
     reference board gets added.

   - Amlogic SM1 (S905X3) and G12B (S922X, A311D) are updated chips from
their set-top-box line and smart speaker with newer CPU and GPU
cores compared to their predecessors. Both are now also supported
by the Khadas VIM3 development board series, and the dts files for
that get reorganized a bit to better deal with all variants.
Another board based on SM1 that gets added is the SEI Robotics
     SEI610.

   - There are a handful of new x86 and Power9 server boards using
Aspeed BMC chips that are gaining support for running Linux on the
BMC through the OpenBMC project: Facebook
Minipack/Wedge100/Wedge40, Lenovo Hr855xg2, and Mihawk. Notably
these are still new machines using SoCs based on the ARM9 and ARM11
CPU cores, as support for the new Cortex-A7 based AST2600 is still
     ramping up.

   - There are three new end-user products using 32-bit Rockchips SoCs:
Mecer Xtreme Mini S6 is an Android "mini PC" box based on the
low-end RK3229 chip, while the two AOpen products Chromebox Mini
(Fievel) and Chromebase Mini (Tiger) run ChromeOS and are meant for
     commercial settings(digital signage, PoS, ...).

   - One more single-board computer based on the popular 64-bit RK3399
is added: the Leez RK3399 P710"

6df58e485f dt-bindings: Clarify interrupts-extended usage
Reading the description about when to use interrupts-extended leads some
developers to think that it shouldn't be used unless a device has
interrupts from more than one interrupt controller. This isn't true. We
should encourage devicetree writers to use this property in situations
where it isn't the inherited interrupt-parent so that we have less
properties in a DT node by virtue of not having to specify an
interrupt-parent and an interrupts property.

22c58fd70c ARM: SoC platform updates
SoC updates, mostly refactorings and cleanups of old legacy platforms.
 Major themes this release:

  - Conversion of ixp4xx to a modern platform (drivers, DT, bindings)
  - Moving some of the ep93xx headers around to get it closer to multiplatform enabled.
  - Cleanups of Davinci

This tag also contains a few patches that were queued up as fixes before
5.1 but I didn't get sent in before release.

1895ef4ef2 This modernizes the IXP4xx platform and adds initial Device Tree
Support. We migrate to MULTI_IRQ_HANDLER, bumps the IRQs to
offset 16, converts to SPARSE_IRQ, then we add proper subsystem
drivers in each subsystem for irqchip, GPIO and clocksource and
switch over to using these new drivers.

Next we modernize the NPE and QMGR drivers and push them down
 into drivers/soc.

This has been tested on the IXP4xx NSLU2 and the Gateworks
 GW2358-4.
