Using ethtool, users can specify a classification action matching on the
full vlan tag, which includes the DEI bit (also previously called CFI).
However, when converting the ethool_flow_spec to a flow_rule, we use
dissector keys to represent the matching patterns.
Since the vlan dissector key doesn't include the DEI bit, this
information was silently discarded when translating the ethtool
flow spec in to a flow_rule.
This commit adds the DEI bit into the vlan dissector key, and allows
propagating the information to the driver when parsing the ethtool flow
spec.

ethtool_get_regs() allocates a buffer of size ops->get_regs_len(),
and pass it to the kernel driver via ops->get_regs() for filling.
There is no restriction about what the kernel drivers can or cannot do
with the open ethtool_regs structure. They usually set regs->version
and ignore regs->len or set it to the same size as ops->get_regs_len().
But if userspace allocates a smaller buffer for the registers dump,
we would cause a userspace buffer overflow in the final copy_to_user()
call, which uses the regs.len value potentially reset by the driver.
To fix this, make this case obvious and store regs.len before calling
ops->get_regs(), to only copy as much data as requested by userspace,
up to the value returned by ops->get_regs_len().
While at it, remove the redundant check for non-null regbuf.

When parsing an ethtool flow spec to build a flow_rule, the code checks
if both the vlan etype and the vlan tci are specified by the user to add
a FLOW_DISSECTOR_KEY_VLAN match.
However, when the user only specified a vlan etype or a vlan tci, this
check silently ignores these parameters.
For example, the following rule :
ethtool -N eth0 flow-type udp4 vlan 0x0010 action -1 loc 0
will result in no error being issued, but the equivalent rule will be
created and passed to the NIC driver :
ethtool -N eth0 flow-type udp4 action -1 loc 0
In the end, neither the NIC driver using the rule nor the end user have
a way to know that these keys were dropped along the way, or that
incorrect parameters were entered.
This kind of check should be left to either the driver, or the ethtool
flow spec layer.
This commit makes so that ethtool parameters are forwarded as-is to the
NIC driver.
Since none of the users of ethtool_rx_flow_rule_create are using the
VLAN dissector, I don't think this qualifies as a regression.

In dev_ethtool(), the eth command 'ethcmd' is firstly copied from the
use-space buffer 'useraddr' and checked to see whether it is
ETHTOOL_PERQUEUE. If yes, the sub-command 'sub_cmd' is further copied from
the user space. Otherwise, 'sub_cmd' is the same as 'ethcmd'. Next,
according to 'sub_cmd', a permission check is enforced through the function
ns_capable(). For example, the permission check is required if 'sub_cmd' is
ETHTOOL_SCOALESCE, but it is not necessary if 'sub_cmd' is
ETHTOOL_GCOALESCE, as suggested in the comment "Allow some commands to be
done by anyone". The following execution invokes different handlers
according to 'ethcmd'. Specifically, if 'ethcmd' is ETHTOOL_PERQUEUE,
ethtool_set_per_queue() is called. In ethtool_set_per_queue(), the kernel
object 'per_queue_opt' is copied again from the user-space buffer
'useraddr' and 'per_queue_opt.sub_command' is used to determine which
operation should be performed. Given that the buffer 'useraddr' is in the
user space, a malicious user can race to change the sub-command between the
two copies. In particular, the attacker can supply ETHTOOL_PERQUEUE and
ETHTOOL_GCOALESCE to bypass the permission check in dev_ethtool(). Then
before ethtool_set_per_queue() is called, the attacker changes
ETHTOOL_GCOALESCE to ETHTOOL_SCOALESCE. In this way, the attacker can
bypass the permission check and execute ETHTOOL_SCOALESCE.
This patch enforces a check in ethtool_set_per_queue() after the second
copy from 'useraddr'. If the sub-command is different from the one obtained
in the first copy in dev_ethtool(), an error code EINVAL will be returned.

In ethtool_get_rxnfc(), the eth command 'cmd' is compared against
'ETHTOOL_GRXFH' to see whether it is necessary to adjust the variable
'info_size'. Then the whole structure of 'info' is copied from the
user-space buffer 'useraddr' with 'info_size' bytes. In the following
execution, 'info' may be copied again from the buffer 'useraddr' depending
on the 'cmd' and the 'info.flow_type'. However, after these two copies,
there is no check between 'cmd' and 'info.cmd'. In fact, 'cmd' is also
copied from the buffer 'useraddr' in dev_ethtool(), which is the caller
function of ethtool_get_rxnfc(). Given that 'useraddr' is in the user
space, a malicious user can race to change the eth command in the buffer
between these copies. By doing so, the attacker can supply inconsistent
data and cause undefined behavior because in the following execution 'info'
will be passed to ops->get_rxnfc().
This patch adds a necessary check on 'info.cmd' and 'cmd' to confirm that
they are still same after the two copies in ethtool_get_rxnfc(). Otherwise,
an error code EINVAL will be returned.

pull-request: bpf-next 2018-10-08
The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.
The main changes are:
1) sk_lookup_[tcp|udp] and sk_release helpers from Joe Stringer which allow
BPF programs to perform lookups for sockets in a network namespace. This would
allow programs to determine early on in processing whether the stack is
expecting to receive the packet, and perform some action (eg drop,
forward somewhere) based on this information.
2) per-cpu cgroup local storage from Roman Gushchin.
Per-cpu cgroup local storage is very similar to simple cgroup storage
except all the data is per-cpu. The main goal of per-cpu variant is to
implement super fast counters (e.g. packet counters), which don't require
neither lookups, neither atomic operations in a fast path.
The example of these hybrid counters is in selftests/bpf/netcnt_prog.c
3) allow HW offload of programs with BPF-to-BPF function calls from Quentin Monnet
4) support more than 64-byte key/value in HW offloaded BPF maps from Jakub Kicinski
5) rename of libbpf interfaces from Andrey Ignatov.
libbpf is maturing as a library and should follow good practices in
library design and implementation to play well with other libraries.
This patch set brings consistent naming convention to global symbols.
6) relicense libbpf as LGPL-2.1 OR BSD-2-Clause from Alexei Starovoitov
to let Apache2 projects use libbpf
7) various AF_XDP fixes from Björn and Magnus

In ethtool_get_rxnfc(), the object "info" is firstly copied from
user-space. If the FLOW_RSS flag is set in the member field flow_type of
"info" (and cmd is ETHTOOL_GRXFH), info needs to be copied again from
user-space because FLOW_RSS is newer and has new definition, as mentioned
in the comment. However, given that the user data resides in user-space, a
malicious user can race to change the data after the first copy. By doing
so, the user can inject inconsistent data. For example, in the second
copy, the FLOW_RSS flag could be cleared in the field flow_type of "info".
In the following execution, "info" will be used in the function
ops->get_rxnfc(). Such inconsistent data can potentially lead to unexpected
information leakage since ops->get_rxnfc() will prepare various types of
data according to flow_type, and the prepared data will be eventually
copied to user-space. This inconsistent data may also cause undefined
behaviors based on how ops->get_rxnfc() is implemented.
This patch simply re-verifies the flow_type field of "info" after the
second copy. If the value is not as expected, an error code will be
returned.

In the event where the device unexpectedly becomes unresponsive
for a long period of time, flow control mechanism may propagate
pause frames which will cause congestion spreading to the entire
network.
To prevent this scenario, when the device is stalled for a period
longer than a pre-configured timeout, flow control mechanisms are
automatically disabled.
This patch adds support for the ETHTOOL_PFC_STALL_PREVENTION
as a tunable.
This API provides support for configuring flow control storm prevention
timeout (msec).

We use a two-step process to configure a filter with RSS spreading. First,
the RSS context is allocated and configured using ETHTOOL_SRSSH; this
returns an identifier (rss_context) which can then be passed to subsequent
invocations of ETHTOOL_SRXCLSRLINS to specify that the offset from the RSS
indirection table lookup should be added to the queue number (ring_cookie)
when delivering the packet. Drivers for devices which can only use the
indirection table entry directly (not add it to a base queue number)
should reject rule insertions combining RSS with a nonzero ring_cookie.

with bitmap_{from,to}_arr32 over the kernel. Additionally to it:
* __check_eq_bitmap() now takes single nbits argument.
* __check_eq_u32_array is not used in new test but may be used in
future. So I don't remove it here, but annotate as __used.
Tested on arm64 and 32-bit BE mips.

In kernel log ths message appears on every boot:
"warning: `NetworkChangeNo' uses legacy ethtool link settings API,
link modes are only partially reported"
When ethtool link settings API changed, it started complaining about
usages of old API. Ironically, the original patch was from google but
the application using the legacy API is chrome.
Linux ABI is fixed as much as possible. The kernel must not break it
and should not complain about applications using legacy API's.
This patch just removes the warning since using legacy API's
in Linux is perfectly acceptable.

Introduce NETIF_F_GRO_HW feature flag for NICs that support hardware
GRO. With this flag, we can now independently turn on or off hardware
GRO when GRO is on. Previously, drivers were using NETIF_F_GRO to
control hardware GRO and so it cannot be independently turned on or
off without affecting GRO.
Hardware GRO (just like GRO) guarantees that packets can be re-segmented
by TSO/GSO to reconstruct the original packet stream. Logically,
GRO_HW should depend on GRO since it a subset, but we will let
individual drivers enforce this dependency as they see fit.
Since NETIF_F_GRO is not propagated between upper and lower devices,
NETIF_F_GRO_HW should follow suit since it is a subset of GRO. In other
words, a lower device can independent have GRO/GRO_HW enabled or disabled
and no feature propagation is required. This will preserve the current
GRO behavior. This can be changed later if we decide to propagate GRO/
GRO_HW/RXCSUM from upper to lower devices.

There were quite a few overlapping sets of changes here.
Daniel's bug fix for off-by-ones in the new BPF branch instructions,
along with the added allowances for "data_end > ptr + x" forms
collided with the metadata additions.
Along with those three changes came veritifer test cases, which in
their final form I tried to group together properly. If I had just
trimmed GIT's conflict tags as-is, this would have split up the
meta tests unnecessarily.
In the socketmap code, a set of preemption disabling changes
overlapped with the rename of bpf_compute_data_end() to
bpf_compute_data_pointers().
Changes were made to the mv88e6060.c driver set addr method
which got removed in net-next.
The hyperv transport socket layer had a locking change in 'net'
which overlapped with a change of socket state macro usage
in 'net-next'.
