When doing a modeset where the sink is transitioning from D3 to D0 , it
would sometimes be possible for the initial power_up_phy() to start
timing out. This would only be observed in the last action before the
sink went into D3 mode was intel_dp_sink_dpms(DRM_MODE_DPMS_OFF). We
originally thought this might be an issue with us accidentally shutting
off the aux block when putting the sink into D3, but since the DP spec
mandates that sinks must wake up within 1ms while we have 100ms to
respond to an ESI irq, this didn't really add up. Turns out that the
problem is more subtle then that:
It turns out that the timeout is from us not enabling DPMS on the MST
hub before actually trying to initiate sideband communications. This
would cause the first sideband communication (power_up_phy()), to start
timing out because the sink wasn't ready to respond. Afterwards, we
would call intel_dp_sink_dpms(DRM_MODE_DPMS_ON) in
intel_ddi_pre_enable_dp(), which would actually result in waking up the
sink so that sideband requests would work again.
Since DPMS is what lets us actually bring the hub up into a state where
sideband communications become functional again, we just need to make
sure to enable DPMS on the display before attempting to perform sideband
communications.

These tables are used on voltage vswing sequence initialization on
Icelake.
The swing_sel on the spec's table is defined in a 4 bits binary like
1010. However the register bits are split in upper 1 bit swing_sel
and lower 3 bits swing sel.
In this table here we store this value as a single value in hex like
it is mentioned in the Bspec and split it to the upper and lower bit
values only while programming the registers.
For instance: b1010 is written as 0xA and then while writing to the
register, the upper 1 bit is obtained by (0xA & 0x8) and shifting by
appropriate bits while lower 3 bits are obtained by (0xA & 0x7) and
shifting by appropriate bits.
Some of the columns need to be updated after the spec is updated.

When we're disabling the HDMI link we try to reset the scrambling and
TMDS bit clock ratio back to the default values. This will fail if the
sink has already been disconnected. Thus we should not print an error
message when resetting the scrambling/TMDS bit clock ratio fail during
disable. During enable we do want the error, and during disable we may
still want to know what happended for debug purposes so let's use
DRM_DEBUG_KMS() there.

If bios sets up an MST output and hardware state readout code sees this is
an SST configuration, when disabling the encoder we end up calling
->post_disable_dp() hook instead of the MST version. Consequently, we write
to the DP_SET_POWER dpcd to set it D3 state. Further along when we try
enable the encoder in MST mode, POWER_UP_PHY transaction fails to power up
the MST hub. This results in continuous link training failures which keep
the system busy delaying boot. We could identify bios MST boot discrepancy
and handle it accordingly but a simple way to solve this is to write to the
DP_SET_POWER dpcd for MST too.

LSPCON likes to throw short HPDs during the enable seqeunce prior to the
link being trained. These obviously result in the channel CR/EQ check
failing and thus we schedule a pointless hotplug work to retrain the
link. Avoid that by ignoring the bad CR/EQ status until we've actually
initially trained the link.
I've not actually investigated to see what LSPCON is trying to signal
with the short pulse. But as long as it signals anything I think we're
supposed to check the link status anyway, so I don't really see other
good ways to solve this. I've not seen these short pulses being
generated by normal DP sinks.

Doing link retraining from the short pulse handler is problematic since
that might introduce deadlocks with MST sideband processing. Currently
we don't retrain MST links from this code, but we want to change that.
So better to move the entire thing to the hotplug work. We can utilize
the new encoder->hotplug() hook for this.
The only thing we leave in the short pulse handler is the link status
check. That one still depends on the link parameters stored under
intel_dp, so no locking around that but races should be mostly harmless
as the actual retraining code will recheck the link state if we
end up there by mistake.

The LG 4k TV I have doesn't deassert HPD when I turn the TV off, but
when I turn it back on it will pulse the HPD line. By that time it has
forgotten everything we told it about scrambling and the clock ratio.
Hence if we want to get a picture out if it again we have to tell it
whether we're currently sending scrambled data or not. Implement
that via the encoder->hotplug() hook.

Apparently SKL/KBL/CFL need some manual help to get the
programmed HDMI vswing to stick. Implement the relevant
workaround (display w/a #1143).
Note that the relevant chicken bits live in a transcoder register
even though the bits affect a specific DDI port rather than a
specific transcoder. Hence we must pick the correct transcoder
register instance based on the port rather than based on the
cpu_transcoder.
Also note that for completeness I included support for DDI A/E
in the code even though we never have HDMI on those ports.

connectors. It implements Aksv loading from fuse, and parts 1/2/3
of the HDCP authentication scheme.

In case we have multiple modesets for different connectors
happening in parallel we could have a race on the RMW on these
shared registers.
This possibility was initially raised by Paulo when reviewing
commit '555e38d27317 ("drm/i915/cnl: DDI - PLL mapping")'
but the original possibility comes from commit '5416d871136d
("drm/i915/skl: Set the eDP link rate on DPLL0")'. Or maybe
later when atomic commits entered into picture.
Apparently the discussion around this topic showed that the
right solution would be on serializing the atomic commits in
a way that we don't have the possibility of races here since
if that parallel modeset happenings apparently many other
things will be on fire.
Code is there since SKL and there was no report of issue,
but since we never looked back to that serialization possibility,
and also we don't have an igt case for that it is better to at
least protect this corner.

Without masking out the old value, we can end up pointing the DDI to a
disabled PLL, which makes the system fall over. Mask out the previous
value before setting the PLL to DDI mapping.
This can be observed by running igt/testdisplay with both an eDP and
HDMI/DP output active.

Transcoder EDP does not support audio. Let's not try to
read the state of the audio enable bit HSW_AUD_PIN_ELD_CP_VLD
based on the pipe when using transcoder EDP.
While at it make the function static and flatten it.

Explicitly pass the crtc and connector states into the audio
code enable/disable hooks, and plumb them all the way down.
This gets rid of almost all crtc->config and encoder->crtc
uses. The one place where we still use them is
i915_audio_component_sync_audio_rate() since that gets called from
the audio driver and we don't have explicit states around then.

Eliminate the partially duplicated DDI readout code from MST, and
instead just call intel_ddi_get_config(). As a nice bonus we get
more cross checking as intel_ddi_get_config() will populate
output_types based on the actual mode of the DDI port.
Additonally intel_ddi_get_config() must be changed to get the crtc
from the passed in crtc state rather than from the encoder->crtc link.
encoder->crtc really shouldn't be used anyway.

Pass an old crtc state to intel_ddi_post_disable() from the MST code.
Note that this crtc state won't necessaitly match the one that was
passed to intel_ddi_pre_enable() if the first stream to be enabled isn't
the last stream to be disabled. But this is fine since the states should
be identical in every important way. This does mean people frobbing
the DDI pre_enable/post_disable hooks have to pay attention in what
parts of the state they consult.
The alternative would be to inline the relevant code into the MST code.
That is actually what we used to do for pre_enable before
commit e081c8463a ("drm/i915: Remove duplicate DDI enabling logic
from MST path"). For post_disable we've always called the DDI hook.

Currently the DDI encoder->type will change at runtime depending on
what kind of hotplugs we've processed. That's quite bad since we can't
really trust that that current value of encoder->type actually matches
the type of signal we're trying to drive through it.
Let's eliminate that problem by declaring that non-eDP DDI port will
always have the encoder type as INTEL_OUTPUT_DDI. This means the code
can no longer try to distinguish DP vs. HDMI based on encoder->type.
We'll leave eDP as INTEL_OUTPUT_EDP, since it'll never change and
there's a bunch of code that relies on that value to identify eDP
encoders.
We'll introduce a new encoder .compute_output_type() hook. This allows
us to compute the full output_types before any encoder .compute_config()
hooks get called, thus those hooks can rely on output_types being
correct, which is useful for cloning on oldr platforms. For now we'll
just look at the connector type and pick the correct mode based on that.
In the future the new hook could be used to implement dynamic switching
between LS and PCON modes for LSPCON.

Rather than having the caller of .get_config() set output_types based on
encoder->type, let's just have .get_config() itself populate
output_types. This way we are isolated from encoder->type, which won't
be useable for this purpose anyway soon (at least for DDI encoders).

the correct lane latency optimal setting applied. And we obviously need
to compute the correct value, and read it out to keep the state checker
happy.

On CNL we may need to bump up the system agent voltage not only due
to CDCLK but also when driving DDI port with a sufficiently high clock.
To that end start tracking the minimum acceptable voltage for each crtc.
We do the tracking via crtcs because we don't have any kind of encoder
state. Also there's no downside to doing it this way, and it matches how
we track cdclk requirements on account of pixel rate.

As we faced in BXT, on CNL DDI_A_4_LANES is not
set as expected when system is boot with multiple
monitors connected. This result in wrong lane
setup impacting the max data rate available and
consequently blocking modeset on eDP, resulting
in a blank screen.
Most of CNL SKUs don't support DDI-E.
The only SKU that supports DDI-E is the same
that supports the full A/E split called DDI-F.
Also when DDI-F is used DDI-E cannot be used because
they share Interrupts. So DDI-E is almost useless.
Anyways let's consider this is possible and rely on
VBT for that.
This patch was initialy start by Clint, but required
many changes including full commit message. So
Credits entirely to Clint for finding this.

Along with simplification I removed the debug
message on the working case since now all conditions
are grouped.

SKL DDI B/C/D only have 9 usable buf trans registers for DP/eDP. That
matches the normal DP buf trans tables, but the low vswing eDP tables
have 10 entries. Thus the eDP tables can only be used safely with DDI A
and E.
We try to catch cases where DDI B/C/D gets used with the wrong number of
entires in some parts of the code, but not everywhere. Let's move the
code to deal with that deeper into intel_ddi_get_buf_trans_edp(). And
for sake of symmetry do the same in intel_ddi_get_buf_trans_dp(). That
would also avoid explosions in the rather unlikely case that the DP
tables would get revised to 10 entries as well.

default_index contained in the BXT buf_trans tables is actually useless.
For DP we should always have a valid level selected (otherwise the link
training logic would be buggy), and for HDMI we can just do what the
other platforms do and pick the correct entry in intel_ddi_hdmi_level().

On PLL Enable sequence we need to "Configure DPCLKA_CFGCR0 to turn on
the clock for the DDI and map the DPLL to the DDI"
So we first do the map and then we unset DDI_CLK_OFF to turn the clock
on. We do this in 2 separated steps.
However, on this second step where we should only unset the off bit we are
also unmapping the ddi from the pll. So we end up using the pll 0
for almost everything. Consequently breaking cases with more than one
display.

Rather that plumb the link parameters separately to

intel_ddi_pre_enable_hdmi() already took the crtc state, but for some
reason intel_ddi_pre_enable() still wanted to extract has_infoframe
from therein and pass it in separately. Let's not do that since it's

If for some unexpected reason the registers all read zero it's better
to WARN and return instead of dividing by zero and completely freezing
the machine.
I don't expect this to happen in the wild with the current code, but I
accidentally triggered the division by zero while doing some debugging
in an unusual environment.

One of the recent changes introduced a warning about
undefined behavior in the sanity checking:

It seems that the new cnl specific get_buf_trans functions
can return uninitialized data if the voltage level is set
to an unexpected value. This changes the code to always return
'1' in that error case, which seems like the safest choice
as we use one less than the number as an array index later on.

Use the POWER_DOWN_PHY and POWER_UP_PHY sideband message transactions to
set power states for downstream sinks. Apart from giving us the ability
to set power state for individual sinks, this fixes the below test for
me.

The common lane power down flag of a DPIO PHY has a funky semantic:
after the initial enabling of the PHY (so from a disabled state) this
flag will be clear. It will be set only after the PHY will be used for
the first time (for instance due to enabling the corresponding pipe) and
then become unused (due to disabling the pipe). During the initial PHY
enablement we don't know which of the above phases we are in, so move
the check for the flag where this is known, the HW readout code. This is
where the rest of lane power down status checks are done anyway.
This fixes at least a problem on GLK where after module reloading, the
common lane power down flag of PHY1 is set, but the PHY is actually
powered-on and properly set up. The GRC readout code for other PHYs will
hence think that PHY1 is not powered initially and disable it after the
GRC readout. This will cause the AUX power well related to PHY1 to get
disabled in a stuck state, timing out when we try to enable it later.

On clock recovery this function is called to find out
the max voltage swing level that we could go.
However gen 9 functions use the old buffer translation tables
to figure that out. That table is not valid for CNL
causing an invalid number of entries and an invalid selection
on the max voltage swing level.

Let's start converging CNL buf translations to same style
used on previous platforms. So first thing is to use the
standard signature so we don't need to propagate the voltage
check into other parts of the code, but only on the parts
that it is really useful.

Sequences for DisplayPort asks us to

On BXT and CNL this means to execute the ddi vswing sequences.
At this point these sequences calls are getting duplicated for DP
because they are all called from DP link trainning sequences.
However this patch is not yet removing it before a futher discussion
since spec also allows that during link training without disabling
anything:

Vswing sequences on BXT and CNL are equivalent
to the ddi buffer registers setting on other platforms.
For some reason it got aligned with skl_ddi_set_iboost what
is semantically incorrect. This forced us to keep skipping
ddi buffer translation tables on the platforms that has
the vswing sequences.

Let's decouple bxt, glk and cnl dp signal levels
from other DDIs to avoid confusion.
No functional change. Only a reorg to avoid messing
with currently working DP signal levels when
moving voltage swing sequences around to match spec.

The enable/disable/etc. encoder hooks aren't supposed to alter the
state(s), so pass them as const. Unfortunately C lacks any kind of deep
const thingy, so this can't catch all abuses. But at least it acts as a
hint to the reader telling them not to mess about with the state(s).

The PSR enable/disable need to know things about the crtc state, so
plumb it through. This will become even more important when we start
to reuse the generic infoframe code for the VSC DIP programming as the
infoframe code wants the crtc state as well.

DP ports may want to use the video DIP for SDP transmission, so let's
initialize the vfuncs for DP encoders as well. The only exception is
port A eDP prior to HSW as that one doesn't have a video DIP instance.

Disabling the video DIP when shutting the port down seems like a good
idea.
Bspec says:
"When disabling both the DIP port and DIP transmission,
first disable the port and then disable DIP."
and
"Restriction : GCP is only supported with HDMI when the bits per color is
not equal to 8. GCP must be enabled prior to enabling TRANS_DDI_FUNC_CTL
for HDMI with bits per color not equal to 8 and disabled after disabling
TRANS_DDI_FUNC_CTL"
So let's do it in the .post_disable() hook.

For 0.85V cnl_get_buf_trans_edp() returns the DP table, instead of EDP.
Use the correct table.
The error was pointed out by this clang warning:

The condition for setting the Loadgen Select bit of
PORT_TX_DW4 register during DDI Vswing Sequence should be
Bit rate <=6 GHz whereas the existing code checks only
Bit Rate < 6GHz. This patch fixes this condition.
While at it also remove the redundant paranthesis.

To get HDMI YCBCR420 output, the PIPEMISC register should be
programmed to:
- Generate YCBCR output (bit 11)
- In case of YCBCR420 outputs, it should be programmed in full
blend mode to use the scaler in 5x3 ratio (bits 26 and 27)

Paulo had noticed that inside cnl_ddi_vswing_program
the case was handling voltage but with no indication
of type where a missing type could also take us to that
path. So my first attempt was to add a message to
let clear who trigger that path.
However DK had a better idea that is to handle the
missed type sooner before it might take to that path.
So this v2 here uses his approach.

PLLs are the source clocks for the DDIs so in order
to determine the ddi clock we need to check the PLL
configuration.

should consider ref clock that can be either 24KHz

vswing programming sequence step 2 requires the Loadgen_select bit to
be set in PORT_TX_DW4 lane reigsters per table defined by Bit rate and
lane width. Implemented the change that was marked as FIXME in the
driver.

This is an important part of the DDI initalization as well as
for changing the voltage during DisplayPort link training.
This new sequence for Cannonlake is more like Broxton style
but still with different registers, different table and
different steps.

These tables are used on voltage wswing sequence initialization
on Cannonlake.
It is a complete new format now in use by the voltage swing team,
not following any other standard in use by any other platform.
Also the registers are different as well. So let's redefine
the translation table for Cannonlake.
The table is huge. So we minimized with the fields that are
different or might be different anytime soon. The common
values will be hardcoded on the voltage swing sequence.
v2: Merge the lower and the upper bits to match the spec table
and make review easier. This was possible with the good
idea for Manasi with a better way to handle it on the bit
macro definition presented on previous patch.

One of the steps for PLL (un)initialization is to (un)map
the correspondent DDI that is actually using that PLL.
So, let's do this step following the places already stablished
and used so far, although spec put this as part of PLL
initialization sequences.

Atm disabling either DP or eDP outputs can generate a spurious short
pulse interrupt. The reason is that after disabling the port the source
will stop sending a valid stream data, while the sink expects either a
valid stream or the idle pattern. Since neither of this is sent the sink
assumes (after an arbitrary delay) that the link is lost and requests
for link retraining with a short pulse.
The spurious pulse is a real problem at least for eDP panels with long
power-off / power-cycle delays: as part of disabling the output we
disable the panel power. The subsequent spurious short pulse handling
will have to turn the power back on, which means the driver has to do a
redundant wait for the power-off and power-cycle delays. During system
suspend this leads to an unnecessary delay up to ~1s on systems with
such panels as reported by Rui.
To fix this put the sink to DPMS D3 state before turning off the port.
According to the DP spec in this state the sink should not request
retraining. This is also what we do already on pre-ddi platforms.
As an alternative I also tried configuring the port to send idle pattern
- which is against BSPec - and leave the port in normal mode before
turning off the port. Neither of these resolved the problem.

Geminilake platform sports a native HDMI 2.0 controller, and is
capable of driving pixel-clocks upto 594Mhz. HDMI 2.0 spec
mendates scrambling for these higher clocks, for reduced RF footprint.
This patch checks if the monitor supports scrambling, and if required,
enables it during the modeset.

All it does is pick the encoder and call intel_get_shared_dpll(). We
can just do this in the caller. One less indirection level during code
reading.
As another plus, now the two callers of intel_get_shared_dpll() are
{ironlake,haswell}_crtc_compute_clock().

In I915 driver, there are many places where variable name for
intel_encoder object is given as 'intel_encoder' whereas it would
make more sense to call it just 'encoder' when possible.
This patch does this cleanup in file intel_ddi.c.
PS: There are few functions where both drm_encoder and intel_encoder
are present. For such functions, this patch does nothing.
