Please do not apply this to mainline directly, instead please re-run the
coccinelle script shown below and apply its output.
For several reasons, it is desirable to use {READ,WRITE}_ONCE() in
preference to ACCESS_ONCE(), and new code is expected to use one of the
former. So far, there's been no reason to change most existing uses of
ACCESS_ONCE(), as these aren't harmful, and changing them results in
churn.
However, for some features, the read/write distinction is critical to
correct operation. To distinguish these cases, separate read/write
accessors must be used. This patch migrates (most) remaining
ACCESS_ONCE() instances to {READ,WRITE}_ONCE(), using the following
coccinelle script:
----
// Convert trivial ACCESS_ONCE() uses to equivalent READ_ONCE() and
// WRITE_ONCE()

There were quite a few overlapping sets of changes here.
Daniel's bug fix for off-by-ones in the new BPF branch instructions,
along with the added allowances for "data_end > ptr + x" forms
collided with the metadata additions.
Along with those three changes came veritifer test cases, which in
their final form I tried to group together properly. If I had just
trimmed GIT's conflict tags as-is, this would have split up the
meta tests unnecessarily.
In the socketmap code, a set of preemption disabling changes
overlapped with the rename of bpf_compute_data_end() to
bpf_compute_data_pointers().
Changes were made to the mv88e6060.c driver set addr method
which got removed in net-next.
The hyperv transport socket layer had a locking change in 'net'
which overlapped with a change of socket state macro usage
in 'net-next'.

SK_SKB BPF programs are run from the socket/tcp context but early in
the stack before much of the TCP metadata is needed in tcp_skb_cb. So
we can use some unused fields to place BPF metadata needed for SK_SKB
programs when implementing the redirect function.
This allows us to drop the preempt disable logic. It does however
require an API change so sk_redirect_map() has been updated to
additionally provide ctx_ptr to skb. Note, we do however continue to
disable/enable preemption around actual BPF program running to account
for map updates.

The 'cpumap' is primarily used as a backend map for XDP BPF helper
call bpf_redirect_map() and XDP_REDIRECT action, like 'devmap'.
This patch implement the main part of the map. It is not connected to
the XDP redirect system yet, and no SKB allocation are done yet.
The main concern in this patch is to ensure the datapath can run
without any locking. This adds complexity to the setup and tear-down
procedure, which assumptions are extra carefully documented in the
code comments.

This patch extends the libbpf to provide API support to
allow specifying BPF object name.
In tools/lib/bpf/libbpf, the C symbol of the function
and the map is used. Regarding section name, all maps are
under the same section named "maps". Hence, section name
is not a good choice for map's name. To be consistent with
map, bpf_prog also follows and uses its function symbol as
the prog's name.
This patch adds logic to collect function's symbols in libbpf.
There is existing codes to collect the map's symbols and no change
is needed.
The bpf_load_program_name() and bpf_map_create_name() are
added to take the name argument. For the other bpf_map_create_xxx()
variants, a name argument is directly added to them.
In samples/bpf, bpf_load.c in particular, the symbol is also
used as the map's name and the map symbols has already been
collected in the existing code. For bpf_prog, bpf_load.c does
not collect the function symbol name. We can consider to collect
them later if there is a need to continue supporting the bpf_load.c.

LIST_POISON[12] are used to initialize list_head and hlist_node
pointers, and do void pointer arithmetic, which C++ doesn't like, so, to
avoid drifting from the kernel by introducing some HLIST_POISON to do
away with void pointer math, just make those poisoned pointers be NULL
when building it with a C++ compiler.

In the initial sockmap API we provided strparser and verdict programs
using a single attach command by extending the attach API with a the
attach_bpf_fd2 field.
However, if we add other programs in the future we will be adding a
field for every new possible type, attach_bpf_fd(3,4,..). This
seems a bit clumsy for an API. So lets push the programs using two
new type fields.
BPF_SK_SKB_STREAM_PARSER
BPF_SK_SKB_STREAM_VERDICT
This has the advantage of having a readable name and can easily be
extended in the future.
Updates to samples and sockmap included here also generalize tests
slightly to support upcoming patch for multiple map support.

This program binds a program to a cgroup and then matches hard
coded IP addresses and adds these to a sockmap.
This will receive messages from the backend and send them to
the client.
client:X <---> frontend:10000 client:X <---> backend:10001
To keep things simple this is only designed for 1:1 connections
using hard coded values. A more complete example would allow many
backends and clients.

Currently, eBPF only understands BPF_JGT (>), BPF_JGE (>=),
BPF_JSGT (s>), BPF_JSGE (s>=) instructions, this means that
particularly *JLT/*JLE counterparts involving immediates need
to be rewritten from e.g. X < [IMM] by swapping arguments into
[IMM] > X, meaning the immediate first is required to be loaded
into a register Y := [IMM], such that then we can compare with
Y > X. Note that the destination operand is always required to
be a register.
This has the downside of having unnecessarily increased register
pressure, meaning complex program would need to spill other
registers temporarily to stack in order to obtain an unused
register for the [IMM]. Loading to registers will thus also
affect state pruning since we need to account for that register
use and potentially those registers that had to be spilled/filled
again. As a consequence slightly more stack space might have
been used due to spilling, and BPF programs are a bit longer
due to extra code involving the register load and potentially
required spill/fills.
Thus, add BPF_JLT (<), BPF_JLE (<=), BPF_JSLT (s<), BPF_JSLE (s<=)
counterparts to the eBPF instruction set. Modifying LLVM to
remove the NegateCC() workaround in a PoC patch at [1] and
allowing it to also emit the new instructions resulted in
cilium's BPF programs that are injected into the fast-path to
have a reduced program length in the range of 2-3% (e.g.
accumulated main and tail call sections from one of the object
file reduced from 4864 to 4729 insns), reduced complexity in
the range of 10-30% (e.g. accumulated sections reduced in one
of the cases from 116432 to 88428 insns), and reduced stack
usage in the range of 1-5% (e.g. accumulated sections from one
of the object files reduced from 824 to 784b).
The modification for LLVM will be incorporated in a backwards
compatible way. Plan is for LLVM to have i) a target specific
option to offer a possibility to explicitly enable the extension
by the user (as we have with -m target specific extensions today
for various CPU insns), and ii) have the kernel checked for
presence of the extensions and enable them transparently when
the user is selecting more aggressive options such as -march=native
in a bpf target context. (Other frontends generating BPF byte
code, e.g. ply can probe the kernel directly for its code
generation.)

It is often useful to know the branch types while analyzing branch data.
For example, a call is very different from a conditional branch.
Currently we have to look it up in binary while the binary may later not
be available and even the binary is available but user has to take some
time. It is very useful for user to check it directly in perf report.
Perf already has support for disassembling the branch instruction to get
the x86 branch type.
To keep consistent on kernel and userspace and make the classification
more common, the patch adds the common branch type classification
in perf_event.h.
The patch only defines a minimum but most common set of branch types.
PERF_BR_UNKNOWN : unknown
PERF_BR_COND :conditional
PERF_BR_UNCOND : unconditional
PERF_BR_IND : indirect
PERF_BR_CALL : function call
PERF_BR_IND_CALL : indirect function call
PERF_BR_RET : function return
PERF_BR_SYSCALL : syscall
PERF_BR_SYSRET : syscall return
PERF_BR_COND_CALL : conditional function call
PERF_BR_COND_RET : conditional function return
The patch also adds a new field type (4 bits) in perf_branch_entry
to record the branch type.
Since the disassembling of branch instruction needs some overhead,
a new PERF_SAMPLE_BRANCH_TYPE_SAVE is introduced to indicate if it
needs to disassemble the branch instruction and record the branch
type.
Change log:
v10: Not changed.
v9: Not changed.
v8: Change PERF_BR_NONE to PERF_BR_UNKNOWN.
No other change.
v7: Just keep the most common branch types.
Others are removed.
v6: Not changed.
v5: Not changed. The v5 patch series just change the userspace.
v4: Comparing to previous version, the major changes are:
1. Remove the PERF_BR_JCC_FWD/PERF_BR_JCC_BWD, they will be
computed later in userspace.
2. Remove the "cross" field in perf_branch_entry. The cross page
computing will be done later in userspace.

We already beautify the fcntl cmd argument, so an upcoming cset will
update the 'cmd' strarray to cover these new commands.
The hints are in the 3rd arg, a pointer, so not yet supported in 'perf

attempt at doing that is planned.

This work adds a helper that can be used to adjust net room of an
skb. The helper is generic and can be further extended in future.
Main use case is for having a programmatic way to add/remove room to
v4/v6 header options along with cls_bpf on egress and ingress hook
of the data path. It reuses most of the infrastructure that we added
for the bpf_skb_change_type() helper which can be used in nat64
translations. Similarly, the helper only takes care of adjusting the
room so that related data is populated and csum adapted out of the
BPF program using it.

Pull perf tooling fixes from Thomas Gleixner:
- Synchronization of tools and kernel headers
- A series of fixes for perf report addressing various failures:
* Handle invalid maps proper
* Plug a memory leak
* Handle frames and callchain order correctly
- Fixes for handling inlines and children mode
* 'perf-urgent-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip:
tools/include: Sync kernel ABI headers with tooling headers
perf tools: Put caller above callee in --children mode
perf report: Do not drop last inlined frame
perf report: Always honor callchain order for inlined nodes
perf script: Add --inline option for debugging
perf report: Fix off-by-one for non-activation frames
perf report: Fix memory leak in addr2line when called by addr2inlines
perf report: Don't crash on invalid maps in `-g srcline` mode
This patch adds various verifier test cases:
1) A test case for the pruning issue when tracking alignment
is used.
2) Various PTR_TO_MAP_VALUE_OR_NULL tests to make sure pointer
arithmetic turns such register into UNKNOWN_VALUE type.
3) Test cases for the special treatment of LD_ABS/LD_IND to
make sure verifier doesn't break calling convention here.
Latter is needed, since f.e. arm64 JIT uses r1 - r5 for
storing temporary data, so they really must be marked as
NOT_INIT.

of the verifier even when run on architectures where alignment doesn't
matter.

Highlights include:
- Larger virtual address space on 64-bit server CPUs. By default we use a 128TB
virtual address space, but a process can request access to the full 512TB by
passing a hint to mmap().
- Support for the new Power9 "XIVE" interrupt controller.
- TLB flushing optimisations for the radix MMU on Power9.
- Support for CAPI cards on Power9, using the "Coherent Accelerator Interface
Architecture 2.0".
- The ability to configure the mmap randomisation limits at build and runtime.
- Several small fixes and cleanups to the kprobes code, as well as support for
KPROBES_ON_FTRACE.
- Major improvements to handling of system reset interrupts, correctly treating
them as NMIs, giving them a dedicated stack and using a new hypervisor call
to trigger them, all of which should aid debugging and robustness.
Many fixes and other minor enhancements.

Add napi_id access to __sk_buff for socket filter program types, tc
program types and other bpf_convert_ctx_access() users. Having access
to skb->napi_id is useful for per RX queue listener siloing, f.e.
in combination with SO_ATTACH_REUSEPORT_EBPF and when busy polling is
used, meaning SO_REUSEPORT enabled listeners can then select the
corresponding socket at SYN time already [1]. The skb is marked via
skb_mark_napi_id() early in the receive path (e.g., napi_gro_receive()).
Currently, sockets can only use SO_INCOMING_NAPI_ID from 6d4339028b
("net: Introduce SO_INCOMING_NAPI_ID") as a socket option to look up
the NAPI ID associated with the queue for steering, which requires a
prior sk_mark_napi_id() after the socket was looked up.
Semantics for the __sk_buff napi_id access are similar, meaning if
skb->napi_id is < MIN_NAPI_ID (e.g. outgoing packets using sender_cpu),
then an invalid napi_id of 0 is returned to the program, otherwise a
valid non-zero napi_id.

perf_mem_data_src is a union that is initialized in the kernel via the ->val
field and accessed by userspace via the mem_xxx bitfields. For this to work
correctly on big endian platforms, we need a big-endian definition for the
bitfields.
Currently on a big endian system, if a user requests PERF_SAMPLE_DATA_SRC (perf
report -d), they will get the default value from perf_sample_data_init(), which
is PERF_MEM_NA. The value for PERF_MEM_NA is constructed using shifts:
/* TLB access */
#define PERF_MEM_TLB_NA 0x01 /* not available */
...
#define PERF_MEM_TLB_SHIFT 26
#define PERF_MEM_S(a, s) \
(((__u64)PERF_MEM_##a##_##s) << PERF_MEM_##a##_SHIFT)
#define PERF_MEM_NA (PERF_MEM_S(OP, NA) |\
PERF_MEM_S(LVL, NA) |\
PERF_MEM_S(SNOOP, NA) |\
PERF_MEM_S(LOCK, NA) |\
PERF_MEM_S(TLB, NA))
Which works out as:
((0x01 << 0) | (0x01 << 5) | (0x01 << 19) | (0x01 << 24) | (0x01 << 26))
Which means the PERF_MEM_NA value comes out of the kernel as 0x5080021
in CPU endian.
But then in the perf tool, the code uses the bitfields to inspect the value, and
currently the bitfields are defined using little endian ordering.
So eg. in perf_mem__tlb_scnprintf() we see:
data_src->val = 0x5080021
op = 0x0
lvl = 0x0
snoop = 0x0
lock = 0x0
dtlb = 0x0
rsvd = 0x5080021
Because of the way the perf tool code is written this is still displayed to the
user as "N/A", so there is no bug visible at the UI level.
Currently there are no big endian architectures which export a meaningful
value (ie. other than PERF_MEM_NA), so the extent of the bug on big endian
platforms is that the PERF_MEM_NA value is exported incorrectly as described
above. Subsequent patches will add support on big endian powerpc for populating
the data source value.
This patch does a minimal fix of adding big endian definition of the bitfields
to match the values that are already exported by the kernel on big endian. And
it makes no change on little endian.

gcc-7 has an "optimization" pass that completely screws up, and
generates the code expansion for the (impossible) case of calling
ilog2() with a zero constant, even when the code gcc compiles does not
actually have a zero constant.
And we try to generate a compile-time error for anybody doing ilog2() on
a constant where that doesn't make sense (be it zero or negative). So
now gcc7 will fail the build due to our sanity checking, because it
created that constant-zero case that didn't actually exist in the source
code.
There's a whole long discussion on the kernel mailing about how to work
around this gcc bug. The gcc people themselevs have discussed their
"feature" in
https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=72785
but it's all water under the bridge, because while it looked at one
point like it would be solved by the time gcc7 was released, that was
not to be.
So now we have to deal with this compiler braindamage.
And the only simple approach seems to be to just delete the code that
tries to warn about bad uses of ilog2().
So now "ilog2()" will just return 0 not just for the value 1, but for
any non-positive value too.
It's not like I can recall anybody having ever actually tried to use
this function on any invalid value, but maybe the sanity check just
meant that such code never made it out in public.

Pull IDR rewrite from Matthew Wilcox:
"The most significant part of the following is the patch to rewrite the
IDR & IDA to be clients of the radix tree. But there's much more,
including an enhancement of the IDA to be significantly more space
efficient, an IDR & IDA test suite, some improvements to the IDR API
(and driver changes to take advantage of those improvements), several
improvements to the radix tree test suite and RCU annotations.
The IDR & IDA rewrite had a good spin in linux-next and Andrew's tree
for most of the last cycle. Coupled with the IDR test suite, I feel
pretty confident that any remaining bugs are quite hard to hit. 0-day
did a great job of watching my git tree and pointing out problems; as
it hit them, I added new test-cases to be sure not to be caught the
same way twice"
Willy goes on to expand a bit on the IDR rewrite rationale:
"The radix tree and the IDR use very similar data structures.
Merging the two codebases lets us share the memory allocation pools,
and results in a net deletion of 500 lines of code. It also opens up
the possibility of exposing more of the features of the radix tree to
users of the IDR (and I have some interesting patches along those

Pull perf updates from Ingo Molnar:
"On the kernel side the main changes in this cycle were:
- Add Intel Kaby Lake CPU support (Srinivas Pandruvada)
- AMD uncore driver updates for fam17 (Janakarajan Natarajan)
- Intel/PT updates and core events optimizations and cleanups
(Alexander Shishkin)
- cgroups events fixes (David Carrillo-Cisneros)
- kprobes improvements (Masami Hiramatsu)
- ... plus misc fixes and updates.
On the tooling side the main changes were:
- Support clang build in tools/{perf,lib/{bpf,traceevent,api}} with
CC=clang, to, for instance, take advantage of better warnings
(Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo):
- Introduce the 'delta-abs' 'perf diff' compute method, that orders
the histogram entries by the absolute value of the percentage delta
for a function in two perf.data files, i.e. the functions that
changed the most (increase or decrease in samples) comes first
(Namhyung Kim)
- Add support for parsing Intel uncore vendor event files and add
uncore vendor events for the Intel server processors (Haswell,
Broadwell, IvyBridge), Xeon Phi (Knights Landing) and Broadwell DE
(Andi Kleen)
- Introduce 'perf ftrace' a perf front end to the kernel's ftrace
function and function_graph tracer, defaulting to the
"function_graph" tracer, more work will be done in reviving this
effort, forward porting it from its initial patch submission
(Namhyung Kim)
- Add 'e' and 'c' hotkeys to expand/collapse call chains for a single
hist entry in the 'perf report' and 'perf top' TUI (Jiri Olsa)
- Account thread wait time (off CPU time) separately: sleep, iowait
and preempt, based on the prev_state of the last event, show the
breakdown when using "perf sched timehist --state" (Namhyumg Kim)
- Add more triggers to switch the output file (perf.data.TIMESTAMP).
Now, in addition to switching to a different output file when
receiving a SIGUSR2, one can also specify file size and time based
triggers:
perf record -a --switch-output=signal
is equivalent to what we had before:
perf record -a --switch-output
While we can also ask for the file to be "sliced" by size, taking
into account that that will happen only when we get woken up by the
kernel, i.e. one has to take into account the --mmap-pages (the
size of the perf mmap ring buffer):
perf record -a --switch-output=2G
will break the perf.data output into multiple files limited to 2GB
of samples, right when generating the output.
For time based samples, alert() will be used, so to have 1 minute
limited perf.data output files:
perf record -a --switch-output=1m
(Jiri Olsa)
- Improve 'perf trace' (Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo)
- 'perf kallsyms' toy tool to look for extended symbol information on
the running kernel and demonstrate the machine/thread/symbol APIs
for use in other tools, such as 'perf probe' (Arnaldo Carvalho de
Melo)
- ... plus tons of other changes, see the shortlog and Git log for
details"

Pull perf updates from Ingo Molnar:
"This update is pretty big and almost exclusively includes tooling
changes, because v4.9's LTS status forced to completion most of the
pending kernel side hardware enablement work and because we tried to
freeze core perf work a bit to give a time window for the fuzzing
efforts.
The diff is large mostly due to the JSON hardware event tables added
for Intel and Power8 CPUs. This was a popular feature request from
people working close to hardware and from the HPC community.
Tree size is big because this added the CPU event tables for over a
decade of Intel CPUs. Future changes for a CPU vendor alrady support
should be much smaller, as events for new models are added. The new
events are listed in 'perf list', for the CPU model the tool is
running on. If you find an interesting event it can be used as-is:
$ perf stat -a -e l2_lines_out.pf_clean sleep 1
Performance counter stats for 'system wide':
7,860,403 l2_lines_out.pf_clean
1.000624918 seconds time elapsed
The event lists can be searched the usual 'perf list' fashion for
(case insensitive) substrings as well:
$ perf list l2_lines_out
List of pre-defined events (to be used in -e):
cache:
l2_lines_out.demand_clean
[Clean L2 cache lines evicted by demand]
l2_lines_out.demand_dirty
[Dirty L2 cache lines evicted by demand]
l2_lines_out.dirty_all
[Dirty L2 cache lines filling the L2]
l2_lines_out.pf_clean
[Clean L2 cache lines evicted by L2 prefetch]
l2_lines_out.pf_dirty
[Dirty L2 cache lines evicted by L2 prefetch]
etc.
There's a few high level categories as well that can be listed:
'cache', 'floating point', 'frontend', 'memory', 'pipeline', 'virtual
memory'.
Existing generic events and workflows should work as-is.
The only kernel side change is a late breaking fix for an older
regression, related to Intel BTS, LBR and PT feature interaction.
On the tooling side there are three new tools / major features:
- The new 'perf c2c' tool provides means for Shared Data C2C/HITM
analysis.
This allows you to track down cacheline contention. The tool is
based on x86's load latency and precise store facility events
provided by Intel CPUs.
It was tested by Joe Mario and has proven to be useful, finding
some cacheline contentions. Joe also wrote a blog about c2c tool
with examples:
https://joemario.github.io/blog/2016/09/01/c2c-blog/
excerpt of the content on this site:
At a high level, “perf c2c” will show you:
* The cachelines where false sharing was detected.
* The readers and writers to those cachelines, and the offsets where those accesses occurred.
* The pid, tid, instruction addr, function name, binary object name for those readers and writers.
* The source file and line number for each reader and writer.
* The average load latency for the loads to those cachelines.
* Which numa nodes the samples a cacheline came from and which CPUs were involved.
Using perf c2c is similar to using the Linux perf tool today.
First collect data with “perf c2c record”, then generate a
report output with “perf c2c report”
There one finds extensive details on using the tool, with tips on
reducing the volume of samples while still capturing enough to do
its job. (Dick Fowles, Joe Mario, Don Zickus, Jiri Olsa)
- The new 'perf sched timehist' tool provides tailored analysis of
scheduling events.
Example usage:
perf sched record -- sleep 1
perf sched timehist
By default it shows the individual schedule events, including the
wait time (time between sched-out and next sched-in events for the
task), the task scheduling delay (time between wakeup and actually
running) and run time for the task:
time cpu task name wait time sch delay run time
[tid/pid] (msec) (msec) (msec)

Times are in msec.usec. (David Ahern, Namhyung Kim)
- Add CPU vendor hardware event tables:
Add JSON files with vendor event naming for Intel and Power8
processors, allowing users of tools like oprofile to keep using the
event names they are used to, as well as people reading vendor
documentation, where such naming is used. (Andi Kleen, Sukadev
Bhattiprolu)
You should see all the new events with 'perf list' and you should
be able to search them, for example 'perf list miss' will list all
the myriads of miss events.
Other tooling features added were:
- Cross-arch annotation support:
o Improve ARM support in the annotation code, affecting 'perf
annotate', 'perf report' and live annotation in 'perf top' (Kim
Phillips)
o Initial support for PowerPC in the annotation code (Ravi
Bangoria)
o Support AArch64 in the 'annotate' code, native/local and
cross-arch/remote (Kim Phillips)
- Allow considering just events in a given time interval, via the
'--time start.s.ms,end.s.ms' command line, added to 'perf kmem',
'perf report', 'perf sched timehist' and 'perf script' (David
Ahern)
- Add option to stop printing a callchain at one of a given group of
symbol names (David Ahern)
- Track memory freed in 'perf kmem stat' (David Ahern)
- Allow querying and setting .perfconfig variables (Taeung Song)
- Show branch information in callchains (predicted, TSX aborts, loop
iteractions, etc) (Jin Yao)
- Dynamicly change verbosity level by pressing 'V' in the 'perf
top/report' hists TUI browser (Alexis Berlemont)
- Implement 'perf trace --delay' in the same fashion as in 'perf

(Alexis Berlemont)
- Make vendor named events case insensitive in 'perf list', i.e.
'perf list LONGEST_LAT' works just the same as 'perf list
longest_lat' (Andi Kleen)
- Add unwinding support for jitdump (Stefano Sanfilippo)
Tooling infrastructure changes:
- Support linking perf with clang and LLVM libraries, initially
statically, but this limitation will be lifted and shared
libraries, when available, will be preferred to the static build,
that should, as with other features, be enabled explicitly (Wang
Nan)
- Add initial support (and perf test entry) for tooling hooks,
starting with 'record_start' and 'record_end', that will have as
its initial user the eBPF infrastructure, where perf_ prefixed
functions will be JITed and run when such hooks are called (Wang
Nan)
- Implement assorted libbpf improvements (Wang Nan)"

did not list, see the shortlog and the git log for details"

We only support breakpoint/watchpoint of length 1, 2, 4 and 8. If we can
support other length as well, then user may watch more data with less
number of watchpoints (provided hardware supports it). For example: if we
have to watch only 4th, 5th and 6th byte from a 64 bit aligned address, we
will have to use two slots to implement it currently. One slot will watch a
half word at offset 4 and other a byte at offset 6. If we can have a
watchpoint of length 3 then we can watch it with single slot as well.
ARM64 hardware does support such functionality, therefore adding these new
definitions in generic layer.

Add a start of a test suite for kernel selftests. This moves test_verifier
and test_maps over to tools/testing/selftests/bpf/ along with various
code improvements and also adds a script for invoking test_bpf module.
The test suite can simply be run via selftest framework, f.e.:
# cd tools/testing/selftests/bpf/
# make
# make run_tests
Both test_verifier and test_maps were kind of misplaced in samples/bpf/
directory and we were looking into adding them to selftests for a while
now, so it can be picked up by kbuild bot et al and hopefully also get
more exposure and thus new test case additions.

Some mmap related macros have different values for different
architectures. This patch introduces uapi mman.h for each

Three headers are cloned from kernel include to tools/include:

The way we're using kernel headers in tools/ now, with a copy that is
made to the same path prefixed by "tools/" plus checking if that copy
got stale, i.e. if the kernel counterpart changed, helps in keeping
track with new features that may be useful for tools to exploit.
For instance, looking at all the changes to bpf.h since it was last
copied to tools/include brings this to toolers' attention:
Need to investigate this one to check how to run a program via perf, setting up
a BPF event, that will take advantage of the way perf already calls clang/LLVM,
sets up the event and runs the workload in a single command line, helping in
debugging such semi cooperative programs:
96ae522795 ("bpf: Add bpf_probe_write_user BPF helper to be called in tracers")
This one needs further investigation about using the feature it improves
in 'perf trace' to do some tcpdumpin' mixed with syscalls, tracepoints,
probe points, callgraphs, etc:
555c8a8623 ("bpf: avoid stack copy and use skb ctx for event output")
Add tracing just packets that are related to some container to that mix:
4a482f34af ("cgroup: bpf: Add bpf_skb_in_cgroup_proto")
4ed8ec521e ("cgroup: bpf: Add BPF_MAP_TYPE_CGROUP_ARRAY")
Definetely needs to have example programs accessing task_struct from a bpf proggie
started from 'perf trace':
606274c5ab ("bpf: introduce bpf_get_current_task() helper")
Core networking related, XDP:
6ce96ca348 ("bpf: add XDP_TX xdp_action for direct forwarding")
6a773a15a1 ("bpf: add XDP prog type for early driver filter")
13c5c240f7 ("bpf: add bpf_get_hash_recalc helper")
d2485c4242 ("bpf: add bpf_skb_change_type helper")
6578171a7f ("bpf: add bpf_skb_change_proto helper")

We shouldn't use headers from the kernel sources directly, instead we
should use the system's headers or in cases where that isn't possible,
like with perf_event.h, where the introduction of kernel features such
as perf_event_attr.{write_backwards,sample_max_stack} and
PERF_EVENT_IOC_PAUSE_OUTPUT take some time to become available in
/usr/include/linux/perf_event.h we need a copy.
Do it and check for source code drift, emitting a warning when changes

The tools so far have been using the strerror_r() GNU variant, that
returns a string, be it the buffer passed or something else.
But that, besides being tricky in cases where we expect that the
function using strerror_r() returns the error formatted in a provided
buffer (we have to check if it returned something else and copy that
instead), breaks the build on systems not using glibc, like Alpine
Linux, where musl libc is used.
So, introduce yet another wrapper, str_error_r(), that has the GNU
interface, but uses the portable XSI variant of strerror_r(), so that
users rest asured that the provided buffer is used and it is what is
returned.
