EVA uses specific instructions for accessing user memory.
Instead of polluting the kernel with numerous #ifdef CONFIG_EVA
we add wrappers for all the instructions that need special
handling when EVA is enabled.

EVA can use the PREFE instruction to perform the virtual address

This patch extends sigcontext in order to hold the most significant 64
bits of each vector register in addition to the MSA control & status
register. The least significant 64 bits are already saved as the scalar
FP context. This makes things a little awkward since the least & most
significant 64 bits of each vector register are not contiguous in
memory. Thus the copy_u & insert instructions are used to transfer the
values of the most significant 64 bits via GP registers.

No current systems implementing MSA include support for vector register
partitioning which makes it somewhat difficult to implement support for
it in the kernel. Thus for the moment the kernel includes no such
support. However if the kernel were to be run on a system which
implemented register partitioning then it would not function correctly,
mishandling MSA disabled exceptions. Print a warning if run on a system
with vector register partitioning implemented to indicate this problem
should it occur.

This patch adds a simple handler for MSA FP exceptions which delivers a
SIGFPE to the running task. In the future it should probably be extended
to re-execute the instruction with the MSACSR.NX bit set in order to
generate results for any elements which did not cause an exception
before delivering the SIGFPE signal.

This patch adds support for context switching the MSA vector registers.
These 128 bit vector registers are aliased with the FP registers - an
FP register accesses the least significant bits of the vector register
with which it is aliased (ie. the register with the same index). Due to
both this & the requirement that the scalar FPU must be 64-bit (FR=1) if
enabled at the same time as MSA the kernel will enable MSA & scalar FP
at the same time for tasks which use MSA. If we restore the MSA vector
context then we might as well enable the scalar FPU since the reason it
was left disabled was to allow for lazy FP context restoring - but we
just restored the FP context as it's a subset of the vector context. If
we restore the FP context and have previously used MSA then we have to
restore the whole vector context anyway (see comment in
enable_restore_fp_context for details) so similarly we might as well
enable MSA.
Thus if a task does not use MSA then it will continue to behave as
without this patch - the scalar FP context will be saved & restored as
usual. But if a task executes an MSA instruction then it will save &
restore the vector context forever more.

This patch adds support for probing the MSAP bit within the Config3
register in order to detect the presence of the MSA ASE. Presence of the
ASE will be indicated in /proc/cpuinfo. The value of the MSA
implementation register will be displayed at boot to aid debugging and
verification of a correct setup, as is done for the FPU.

This patch introduces definitions for the MSA control registers and
functions which allow access to both the control & vector registers. If
the toolchain being used to build the kernel includes support for MSA
then this patch will make use of that support & use MSA instructions
directly. However toolchain support for MSA is very new & far from a
point where it can be reasonably expected that everyone building the
kernel uses a toolchain with support. Thus fallbacks using .word
assembler directives are also provided for now as a temporary measure.

When saving or restoring scalar FP context we want to access the least
significant 64 bits of each FP register. When the FP registers are 64
bits wide that is trivially the start of the registers value in memory.
However when the FP registers are wider this equivalence will no longer
be true for big endian systems. Define a new set of offset macros for
the least significant 64 bits of each saved FP register within thread
context, and make use of them when saving and restoring scalar FP
context.

When we want to access 64-bit FP register values we can only treat
consecutive registers as being consecutive in memory when the width of
an FP register equals 64 bits. This assumption will not remain true once
MSA support is introduced, so provide a code path which copies each 64
bit FP register value in turn when the width of an FP register differs
from 64 bits.

This code assumed that saved FP registers are 64 bits wide, an
assumption which will no longer be true once MSA is introduced. This
patch modifies the code to copy the lower 64 bits of each register in
turn, which is safe for any FP register width >= 64 bits.

The upper bits of an FP register are architecturally defined as
unpredictable following an instructions which only writes the lower
bits. The prior behaviour of the kernel is to leave them unmodified.
This patch modifies that to clear the upper bits to zero. This is what
the MSA architecture reference manual specifies should happen for its
wider registers and is still permissible for scalar FP instructions
given the bits unpredictability there.

When a task which has used the FPU at some point in its past takes a
signal the kernel would previously always require the task to take
ownership of the FPU whilst setting up or restoring from the sigcontext.
That means that if the task has not used the FPU within this timeslice
then the kernel would enable the FPU, restore the task's FP context into
FPU registers and then save them into the sigcontext. This seems
inefficient, and if the signal handler doesn't use FP then enabling the
FPU & the extra memory accesses are entirely wasted work.
This patch modifies the sigcontext setup & restore code to copy directly
between the tasks saved FP context & the sigcontext for any tasks which
have used FP in the past but are not currently the FPU owner (ie. have
not used FP in this timeslice).

These functions aren't directly related to the FPU emulator at all, they
simply copy between a thread's saved context & a sigcontext. Thus move
them to the appropriate signal files & rename them accordingly. This
makes it clearer that the functions don't require the FPU emulator in
any way.

This patch replaces the fpureg_t typedef with a "union fpureg" enabling
easier access to 32 & 64 bit values. This allows the access macros used
in cp1emu.c to be simplified somewhat. It will also make it easier to
expand the width of the FP registers as will be done in a future
patch in order to support the 128 bit registers introduced with MSA.
No behavioural change is intended by this patch.

When userland uses syscall() to perform an indirect system call
the actually system call that needs to be checked by the filter
is on the first argument. The kernel code needs to handle this case
by looking at the original syscall number in v0 and if it's
NR_syscall, then it needs to examine the first argument to
identify the real system call that will be executed.
Similarly, we need to 'virtually' shift the syscall() arguments
so the syscall_get_arguments() function can fetch the correct
arguments for the indirect system call.

This effectively renames __syscall_get_arch to syscall_get_arch
and implements a compatible interface for the seccomp API.
The seccomp code (kernel/seccomp.c) expects a syscall_get_arch
function to be defined for every architecture, so we drop
the leading underscores from the existing function.
This also makes use of the 'task' argument to determine the type
the process instead of assuming the process has the same
characteristics as the kernel it's running on.

The syscall_rollback function is used by seccomp-bpf but it was never
added for MIPS. It doesn't need to do anything as none of the registers
are clobbered if the system call has been denied by the seccomp filter.

CONFIG_MIPS_CPS is a better option for systems where it is supported,
which as far as I am aware should be all systems where CONFIG_MIPS_CMP
could provide any value (ie. where there are multiple cores for YAMON to
bring up). This option is therefore deprecated, and marked as such. It
is left intact for the time being in order to provide a fallback should
someone find a system where CONFIG_MIPS_CPS will not function (ie. where
the reset vector cannot be moved), and should be removed entirely in the
future assuming that does not happen.

Commit f55afb0969cc "MIPS: Clean up MIPS MT and CMP configuration
options." introduced a dependency upon MIPS_MT_SMP (ie. SMVP) for the
MIPS_CMP (ie. CMP framework support) Kconfig option. It did not specify
why, and that dependency is bogus. It is perfectly valid to have a
multi-core system with the YAMON bootloader but without MT support -
an example of this would be any multi-core proAptiv bitstream running on
a Malta. Forcing MT support to be enabled in a kernel for such a system
is incorrect. I suspect that the dependency was actually meant to
reflect the fact that YAMON will only bind 1 TC per VPE on an MT system,
and only describe those 1:1 TC:VPE pairs as CPUs through the AMON
interface. Thus an SMTC kernel makes little sense on a system using
MIPS_CMP, and the Kconfig dependencies should reflect that rather than
introducing the bogus SMVP dependency.

The prior help text introduced in commit f55afb0969cc "MIPS: Clean up
MIPS MT and CMP configuration options." reads as though this option
enables the kernel to make use of the CM hardware, which is not true.
What it actually does is allow the kernel to interact with the YAMON
bootloader which actually interacts with the CM hardware to bring up
secondary cores. Re-introduce the word "framework" which that commit
removed to avoid misleading people.

This patch simply attempts to register the MIPS Coherent Processing
System SMP implementation when it is enabled. If registering that fails
for some reason (like the Kconfig option being disabled or a lack of
hardware support) then we fall back to the same SMP implementations as
before.

The vpe_id field of struct cpuinfo_mips is only present when one of
CONFIG_MIPS_MT_{SMP,SMTC} is enabled. That means that any code accessing
which may compile without MT is currently forced to use an #ifdef.
Instead this patch provides an accessor macro, #ifdef'd appropriately
to prevent further #ifdef's elsewhere.

The packet hash can be considered a property of the packet, not just
on RX path.
This patch changes name of rxhash and l4_rxhash skbuff fields to be
hash and l4_hash respectively. This includes changing uses of the
field in the code which don't call the access functions.

The ARM EFI boot stub doesn't need to care about the efi_early
infrastructure that x86 requires in order to do mixed mode thunking. So
wrap everything up in an efi_call_early() macro.
This allows x86 to do the necessary indirection jumps to call whatever
firmware interface is necessary (native or mixed mode), but also allows
the ARM folks to mask the fact that they don't support relocation in the
boot stub and need to pass 'sys_table_arg' to every function.

I noticed KVM is broken when KVM in-kernel XICS emulation
(CONFIG_KVM_XICS) is disabled.
The problem was introduced in 48eaef05 (KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: use
xics_wake_cpu only when defined). It used CONFIG_KVM_XICS to wrap
xics_wake_cpu, where CONFIG_PPC_ICP_NATIVE should have been
used.

This introduces the H_GET_TCE hypervisor call, which is basically the
reverse of H_PUT_TCE, as defined in the Power Architecture Platform
Requirements (PAPR).
The hcall H_GET_TCE is required by the kdump kernel, which uses it to
retrieve TCEs set up by the previous (panicked) kernel.

When the guest does an MMIO write which is handled successfully by an
ioeventfd, ioeventfd_write() returns 0 (success) and
kvmppc_handle_store() returns EMULATE_DONE. Then
kvmppc_emulate_mmio() converts EMULATE_DONE to RESUME_GUEST_NV and
this causes an exit from the loop in kvmppc_vcpu_run_hv(), causing an
exit back to userspace with a bogus exit reason code, typically
causing userspace (e.g. qemu) to crash with a message about an unknown
exit code.
This adds handling of RESUME_GUEST_NV in kvmppc_vcpu_run_hv() in order
to fix that. For generality, we define a helper to check for either
of the return-to-guest codes we use, RESUME_GUEST and RESUME_GUEST_NV,
to make it easy to check for either and provide one place to update if
any other return-to-guest code gets defined in future.
Since it only affects Book3S HV for now, the helper is added to
the kvm_book3s.h header file.
We use the helper in two places in kvmppc_run_core() as well for
future-proofing, though we don't see RESUME_GUEST_NV in either place
at present.

destroy_timer_on_stack() is hardly the right thing for a delayed

When kvm_get_vcpu() returned NULL for the destination CPU in
__sigp_emergency() or __sigp_external_call(), the memory for the
"inti" structure was not released anymore. This patch fixes this
issue by moving the check for !dst_vcpu before the kzalloc() call.

We need BITS_TO_LONGS, not sizeof(long) to calculate
the correct size.
idle_mask is a bitmask, each bit representing the state
of a cpu. The desired outcome is an array of unsigned long
fields that can fit KVM_MAX_VCPUS bits. We should not use
sizeof(long) which returnes the size in bytes, but BITS_TO_LONGS

We allocate a page for the 2k sca, so lets use the space to improve
hit rate of some internal cpu caches. No need to change the freeing
of the page, as this will shift away the page offset bits anyway.

The AVX2 implementation might waste up to a page of stack memory because
of a wrong alignment calculation. This will, in the worst case, increase
the stack usage of sha1_transform_avx2() alone to 5.4 kB -- way to big
for a kernel function. Even worse, it might also allocate *less* bytes
than needed if the stack pointer is already aligned bacause in that case
the 'sub %rbx, %rsp' is effectively moving the stack pointer upwards,
not downwards.
Fix those issues by changing and simplifying the alignment calculation
to use a 32 byte alignment, the alignment really needed.

Commit 7c1da8d0d0 "crypto: sha - SHA1 transform x86_64 AVX2"
accidentally disabled the AVX variant by making the avx_usable() test
not only fail in case the CPU doesn't support AVX or OSXSAVE but also
if it doesn't support AVX2.
Fix that regression by splitting up the AVX/AVX2 test into two
functions. Also test for the BMI1 extension in the avx2_usable() test
as the AVX2 implementation not only makes use of BMI2 but also BMI1
instructions.

PTEs in Xen PV guests must contain machine addresses if _PAGE_PRESENT
is set and pseudo-physical addresses is _PAGE_PRESENT is clear.
This is because during a domain save/restore (migration) the page
table entries are "canonicalised" and uncanonicalised". i.e., MFNs are
converted to PFNs during domain save so that on a restore the page
table entries may be rewritten with the new MFNs on the destination.
This canonicalisation is only done for PTEs that are present.
This change resulted in writing PTEs with MFNs if _PAGE_PROTNONE (or
_PAGE_NUMA) was set but _PAGE_PRESENT was clear. These PTEs would be
migrated as-is which would result in unexpected behaviour in the
destination domain. Either a) the MFN would be translated to the
wrong PFN/page; b) setting the _PAGE_PRESENT bit would clear the PTE
because the MFN is no longer owned by the domain; or c) the present
bit would not get set.
Symptoms include "Bad page" reports when munmapping after migrating a
domain.

In arch_cpu_idle() we must enable %pil based interrupts before
potentially invoking the hypervisor cpu yield call.
As per the Hypervisor API documentation for cpu_yield:
Interrupts which are blocked by some mechanism other that
pstate.ie (for example %pil) are not guaranteed to cause
a return from this service.
It seems that only first generation Niagara chips are hit by this
bug. My best guess is that later chips implement this in hardware
and wake up anyways from %pil events, whereas in first generation
chips the yield is implemented completely in hypervisor code and
requires %pil to be enabled in order to wake properly from this
call.

The size of the reserved memory for a 32 bit vdso must be the size of the
32 bit vDSO in pages + HPET page + VVAR page.

Since this macro is identical to pgprot_writecombine() and is only used
in a single place, remove it completely to avoid confusion. On ARMv7+
processors, the coherent DMA mapping must be Normal NonCacheable (a.k.a.
writecombine) to avoid mismatched hardware attribute aliases (with the
kernel linear mapping as Normal Cacheable).

The current dma_ops do not specify an mmap function so maping
falls back to the default implementation. There are at least
two issues with using the default implementation:
1) The pgprot is always pgprot_noncached (strongly ordered)
memory even with coherent operations
2) dma_common_mmap calls virt_to_page on the remapped non-coherent
address which leads to invalid memory being mapped.
Fix both these issue by implementing a custom mmap function which
correctly accounts for remapped addresses and sets vm_pg_prot
appropriately.

The ppc_rtas() syscall allows userspace to interact directly with RTAS.
For the moment, it assumes every thing is big endian and returns either
EINVAL or EFAULT when called in a little endian environment.
As suggested by Benjamin, to avoid bugs when userspace wants to pass
a non 32 bit value to RTAS, it is far better to stick with a simple
rationale: ppc_rtas() should be called with a big endian rtas_args
structure.
With this patch, it is now up to userspace to forge big endian arguments,
as expected by RTAS.

Our netfilter options are stale and important things like masquerading
are no longer enabled. Instead of trying to keep up with any updates,
set CONFIG_NETFILTER_ADVANCED=n on ppc64* and pseries* defconfigs.
This enables the most common netfilter modules for us.
While here, enable the network bridge module which is heavily used in
KVM setups.

We have generic code like the one in get_futex_key that assume that
a local_irq_disable prevents a parallel THP split. Support that by
adding a dummy smp call function after setting _PAGE_SPLITTING. Code
paths like get_user_pages_fast still need to check for _PAGE_SPLITTING
after disabling IRQ which indicate that a parallel THP splitting is
ongoing. Now if they don't find _PAGE_SPLITTING set, then we can be
sure that parallel split will now block in pmdp_splitting flush
until we enables IRQ

The facility unavailable exception can be triggered from userspace by
accessing PMU registers when EBB is not enabled. This causes the
included pr_err() to run, hence spamming the kernel log buffer.
This avoids this by rate limiting these messages.

Currently we reject events which have the L3 bank == 1, such as
0x000084918F, because the cache field is non-zero.
However that is incorrect, because although the bank is non-zero, the
value we would write into MMCRC is zero, and so we can count the event.
So fix the check to ignore the bank selector when checking whether the
cache selector is non-zero.

Add two macros which generate functions to extract the relevent bits
from event->attr.config{,1,2}.
EVENT_DEFINE_RANGE() defines an accessor for a range of bits in the
event, as well as a "max" function that gives the maximum value of the
field based on the bit width.
EVENT_DEFINE_RANGE_FORMAT() defines the accessor & max routine and also
a format attribute for use in the PMU's attr_groups.

This exposes a simple way to grab the firmware provided
collect_priveliged, ga, expanded, and lab capability bits. All of these
bits come in from the same gpci request, so we've exposed all of them.
Only the collect_priveliged bit is really used by the hv-gpci/hv-24x7
code, the other bits are simply exposed in sysfs to inform the user.

24x7 (also called hv_24x7 or H_24X7) is an interface to obtain
performance counters from the hypervisor. These counters do not have a
fixed format/possition and are instead documented in a "24x7 Catalog",
which is provided by the hypervisor (that interface is also documented
paritialy in the included hv-24x7-catalog.h and fully in at
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/jmesmon/catalog-24x7/master/hv-24x7-catalog.h ).
The 24x7 data access is simply a copy operation into a 4 dimentional
array of 64bit counters (from hypervisor to kernel memory). There is no
interupt triggered on overflow, these are completely disjoint from the
typical power pmu.
This method of obtaining performance counters from the hypervisor is
intended to paritialy replace the gpci interface.

"H_GetPerformanceCounterInfo" (refered to as hv_gpci or just gpci from
here on) is an interface to retrieve specific performance counters and
other data from the hypervisor. All outputs have a fixed format. This
header only describes the portions of the interface that we plan on
using in linux at this time.

The previous commit added constraint and register handling to allow
processes using EBB (Event Based Branches) to request access to the BHRB
(Branch History Rolling Buffer).
With that in place we can allow processes using EBB to access the BHRB.
This is achieved by setting BHRBA in MMCR0 when we enable EBB access. We
must also clear BHRBA when we are disabling.

We want a way for users of EBB (Event Based Branches) to also access the
BHRB (Branch History Rolling Buffer). EBB does not interoperate with our
existing BHRB support, which is wired into the generic Linux branch
stack sampling support.
To support EBB & BHRB we add three new bits to the event code. The first
bit indicates that the event wants access to the BHRB, and the other two
bits indicate the desired IFM (Instruction Filtering Mode).
We allow multiple events to request access to the BHRB, but they must
agree on the IFM value. Events which are not interested in the BHRB can
also interoperate with events which do.
Finally we program the desired IFM value into MMCRA. Although we do this
for every event, we know that the value will be identical for all events
that request BHRB access.

We only need to mask the EBB bit out of the event for the check of the
special PMC 5 & 6 events. So use a local to do it just for that code,
rather than changing the event value for the life of the function.
While we're there move the set of mask and value after all the checks.

Although we already block EBB events which request sampling using
sample_period, technically it's possible for an event to set sample_type
but not sample_period.
Nothing terrible will happen if an EBB event does specify sample_type,
but it signals a major confusion on the part of userspace, and so we do
them the favor of rejecting it.

Some power8 revisions have a hardware bug where we can lose a
Performance Monitor (PMU) exception under certain circumstances.
We will be adding a workaround for this case, see the next commit for
details. The observed behaviour is that writing PMAO doesn't cause an
exception as we would expect, hence the name of the feature.

Currently the sysrq ShowRegs command does not print any PMU registers as
we have an empty definition for perf_event_print_debug(). This patch
defines perf_event_print_debug() to print various PMU registers.

This patch adds support for notifying the clients of their request
completion. Clients request for the token before making OPAL call
and then wait for the response.
This patch uses messaging infrastructure to pull the data to linux
by registering itself for the message type OPAL_MSG_ASYNC_COMP.

We seem to be nearly the only platform which does not provide the
sys_utimes syscall. Adding it now makes our life much easier with
userspace applications (like dietlibc and e2fsprogs) since we then
behave like all other platforms too and don't need extra patches which
are hard to get upstream anyway because we are not a mainstream
architecture.

This git patch adds x86_64 AVX2 optimization of SHA1
transform to crypto support. The patch has been tested with 3.14.0-rc1
kernel.
On a Haswell desktop, with turbo disabled and all cpus running
at maximum frequency, tcrypt shows AVX2 performance improvement
from 3% for 256 bytes update to 16% for 1024 bytes update over
AVX implementation.
This patch adds sha1_avx2_transform(), the glue, build and
configuration changes needed for AVX2 optimization of
SHA1 transform to crypto support.
sha1-ssse3 is one module which adds the necessary optimization
support (SSSE3/AVX/AVX2) for the low-level SHA1 transform function.
With better optimization support, transform function is overridden
as the case may be. In the case of AVX2, due to performance reasons
across datablock sizes, the AVX or AVX2 transform function is used
at run-time as it suits best. The Makefile change therefore appends
the necessary objects to the linkage. Due to this, the patch merely
appends AVX2 transform to the existing build mix and Kconfig support
and leaves the configuration build support as is.

Add a new interface to register/deregister sources of adapter interrupts
identified by an unique id via the flic. Adapters may also be maskable
and carry a list of pinned pages.
These adapters will be used by irq routing later.

Many Pentium M systems disable PAE but may have a functionally usable PAE
implementation. This adds the "forcepae" parameter which bypasses the boot
check for PAE, and sets the CPU as being PAE capable. Using this parameter
will taint the kernel with TAINT_CPU_OUT_OF_SPEC.

This replaces a decent amount of incomprehensible and buggy code
with much more straightforward code. It also brings the 32-bit vdso
more in line with the 64-bit vdsos, so maybe someday they can share
even more code.
This wastes a small amount of kernel .data and .text space, but it
avoids a couple of allocations on startup, so it should be more or
less a wash memory-wise.

For non-mipsr2 processors, the local_irq_disable contains an mfc0-mtc0
pair with instructions inbetween. With preemption enabled, this sequence
may get preempted and effect a stale value of CP0_STATUS when executing
the mtc0 instruction. This commit avoids this scenario by incrementing
the preempt count before the mfc0 and decrementing it after the mtc9.

If we do nothing in suspend/resume, some platform PCIe ip-block
can't guarantee the link back to L0 state from sleep, then, when
we read the EP device will hang. Only we send pme turnoff message
in pci controller suspend, and send pme exit message in resume, the
link state will be normal.
When we send pme turnoff message in pci controller suspend, the
links will into l2/l3 ready, then, host cannot communicate with
ep device, but pci-driver will call back EP device to save them
state. So we need to change platform_driver->suspend/resume to
syscore->suspend/resume.
So the new suspend/resume implementation, send pme turnoff message
in suspend, and send pme exit message in resume. And add a PME handler,
to response PME & message interrupt.
Change platform_driver->suspend/resume to syscore->suspend/resume.
pci-driver will call back EP device, to save EP state in
pci_pm_suspend_noirq, so we need to keep the link, until
pci_pm_suspend_noirq finish.

Add special state saving for critical and machine check exceptions.
Most of this code could be used to handle debug exceptions taken from
kernel space, but actually doing so is outside the scope of this patch.
The various critical and machine check exceptions now point to their
real handlers, rather than hanging the kernel.

Use the proper scratch SPRG and PACA region. Introduce level-specific
macros to simplify usage and avoid needing to do a bunch of token
pasting throughout EXCEPTION_COMMON().
Now that EXCEPTION_COMMON_DBG() is properly using the debug scratch
register, there's no more need for the caller to move the value to the
GEN scratch first.

The ints parameter was used to optionally insert RECONCILE_IRQ_STATE
into EXCEPTION_COMMON. However, since it came at the end of
EXCEPTION_COMMON, there was no real benefit for it to be there as
opposed to being called separately by the caller of EXCEPTION_COMMON.
The ints parameter was causing some hassle when trying to add an extra
macro layer. Besides avoiding that, moving "ints" to the caller makes
the code simpler by:
- avoiding the asymmetry where INTS_RESTORE_HARD is called separately
by the individual exception, but INTS_DISABLE was not
- removing the no-op INTS_KEEP
- not having an unnecessary macro parameter
It also turned out to be necessary to delay the INTS_DISABLE
in the case of special level exceptions until after we saved the
old value of PACAIRQHAPPENED.

While bolted handlers (including e6500) do not need to deal with a TLB
miss recursively causing another TLB miss, nested TLB misses can still
happen with crit/mc/debug exceptions -- so we still need to honor
SPRG_TLB_EXFRAME.
We don't need to spend time modifying it in the TLB miss fastpath,
though -- the special level exception will handle that.

Previously SPRG3 was marked for use by both VDSO and critical
interrupts (though critical interrupts were not fully implemented).
In commit 8b64a9dfb0 ("powerpc/booke64:
Use SPRG0/3 scratch for bolted TLB miss & crit int"), Mihai Caraman
made an attempt to resolve this conflict by restoring the VDSO value
early in the critical interrupt, but this has some issues:
- It's incompatible with EXCEPTION_COMMON which restores r13 from the
by-then-overwritten scratch (this cost me some debugging time).
- It forces critical exceptions to be a special case handled
differently from even machine check and debug level exceptions.
- It didn't occur to me that it was possible to make this work at all
(by doing a final "ld r13, PACA_EXCRIT+EX_R13(r13)") until after
I made (most of) this patch. :-)
It might be worth investigating using a load rather than SPRG on return
from all exceptions (except TLB misses where the scratch never leaves
the SPRG) -- it could save a few cycles. Until then, let's stick with
SPRG for all exceptions.
Since we cannot use SPRG4-7 for scratch without corrupting the state of
a KVM guest, move VDSO to SPRG7 on book3e. Since neither SPRG4-7 nor
critical interrupts exist on book3s, SPRG3 is still used for VDSO
there.

Once special level interrupts are supported, we may take nested TLB
misses -- so allow the same thread to acquire the lock recursively.
The lock will not be effective against the nested TLB miss handler
trying to write the same entry as the interrupted TLB miss handler, but
that's also a problem on non-threaded CPUs that lack TLB write
conditional. This will be addressed in the patch that enables crit/mc
support by invalidating the TLB on return from level exceptions.

altivec_unavailable was commented as 0xf20 but the code uses 0x200.
Note that 0xf20 is also used by ap_unavailable.
altivec_assist was commented as 0x1700 but the code uses 0x220.
critical_input was commented as 0x580 but the code uses 0x100.
machine_check was commented and implemented as 0x200, which conflicts
with altivec_assist (it only builds because MC_EXCEPTION_PROLOG is
commented out). Changed to the fixed IVOR value of 0x000.

Currently compressed/misc.c needs to link against memset(). I think one of
the reasons of this need is inclusion of various header files which define
static inline functions and use memset() inside these. For example,
include/linux/bitmap.h
I think trying to include "../string.h" and using builtin version of memset
does not work because by the time "#define memset" shows up, it is too
late. Some other header file has already used memset() and expects to
find a definition during link phase.
Currently we have a C definitoin of memset() in misc.c. Move it to
compressed/string.c so that others can use it if need be.

Try to treat memcmp() in same way as memcpy() and memset(). Provide a
declaration in boot/string.h and by default user gets a memcmp() which
maps to builtin function.
Move optimized definition of memcmp() in boot/string.c. Now a user can
do #undef memcmp and link against string.c to use optimzied memcmp().
It also simplifies boot/compressed/string.c where we had to redefine
memcmp(). That extra definition is gone now.

Create a separate arch/x86/boot/string.h file to provide declaration of
some of the common string functions.
By default memcpy, memset and memcmp functions will default to gcc
builtin functions. If code wants to use an optimized version of any
of these functions, they need to #undef the respective macro and link
against a local file providing definition of undefed function.
For example, arch/x86/boot/* code links against copy.S to get memcpy()
and memcmp() definitions. arch/86/boot/compressed/* links against
compressed/string.c.
There are quite a few places in arch/x86/ where these functions are
used. Idea is to try to consilidate their declaration and possibly
definitions so that it can be reused.
I am planning to reuse boot/string.h in arch/x86/purgatory/ and use
gcc builtin functions for memcpy, memset and memcmp.

With CONFIG_X86_32=y, string_32.h gets pulled in compressed/string.c by
"misch.h". string_32.h defines a macro to map memcmp to __builtin_memcmp().
And that macro in turn changes the name of memcmp() defined here and
converts it to __builtin_memcmp().
I thought that's not the intention though. We probably want to provide
our own optimized definition of memcmp(). If yes, then undef the memcmp
before we define a new memcmp.

This reverts commit 56dd669a13, which makes the GART visible in
/proc/iomem. This fixes a regression: e501b3d87f ("agp: Support 64-bit
APBASE") exposed an existing problem with a conflict between the GART
region and a PCI BAR region.
The GART addresses are bus addresses, not CPU addresses, and therefore
should not be inserted in iomem_resource.
On many machines, the GART region is addressable by the CPU as well as by
an AGP master, but CPU addressability is not required by the spec. On some
of these machines, the GART is mapped by a PCI BAR, and in that case, the
PCI core automatically inserts it into iomem_resource, just as it does for
all BARs.
Inserting it here means we'll have a conflict if the PCI core later tries
to claim the GART region, so let's drop the insertion here.
The conflict indirectly causes X failures, as reported by Jouni in the
bugzilla below. We detected the conflict even before e501b3d87f, but
after it the AGP code (fix_northbridge()) uses the PCI resource (which is
zeroed because of the conflict) instead of reading the BAR again.

The generic pci_enable_resources() does essentially the same thing as the
code in the s390 version of pcibios_enable_device().
There are differences, but I don't think any of them are a problem. The
generic code:
- Checks everything up to PCI_NUM_RESOURCES, not PCI_BAR_COUNT (6), so
we'll now check the ROM resource, IOV resources, and bridge windows.
- Checks for res->flags & IORESOURCE_UNSET. The s390 code never sets
IORESOURCE_UNSET, so this isn't a problem.
- Checks res->parent. The s390 pcibios_add_device() calls
pci_claim_resource() on all BARs (except ROM, IOV, and bridge windows)
so this isn't a problem either.

the arch implementation and use the default generic one.
Note: pci_enable_resources() checks that r->parent is non-NULL, which
basically checks that pci_claim_resource() or request_resource() has been
called for each BAR. I don't see where that happens for tile, but this
patch doesn't change that behavior, so if it worked before, it should still
work.

The ability to read hardware registers from userland with the RDHWR
instruction should depend upon the corresponding bit of the HWREna
register being set, otherwise a reserved instruction exception should be
generated.
However KVM's current emulation ignores the guest's HWREna and always
emulates RDHWR instructions even if the guest OS has disallowed them.
Therefore rework the RDHWR emulation code to check for privilege or the
corresponding bit in the guest HWREna bit. Also remove the #if 0 case
for the UserLocal register. I presume it was there for debug purposes
but it seems unnecessary now that the guest can control whether it
causes a guest exception.

Previously a reserved instruction exception while in guest code would
cause a KVM internal error if kvm_mips_handle_ri() didn't recognise the
instruction (including a RDHWR from an unrecognised hardware register).
However the guest OS should really have the opportunity to catch the
exception so that it can take the appropriate actions such as sending a
SIGILL to the guest user process or emulating the instruction itself.
Therefore in these cases emulate a guest RI exception and only return
EMULATE_FAIL if that fails, being careful to revert the PC first in case
the exception occurred in a branch delay slot in which case the PC will
already point to the branch target.
Also turn the printk messages relating to these cases into kvm_debug
messages so that they aren't usually visible.
This allows crashme to run in the guest without killing the entire VM.

By coincidence, the VVAR page is at the end of an ELF segment. As a
result, if it ends up being a partial page, the kernel loader will
leave garbage behind at the end of the vvar page. Zero-pad it to a
full page to fix this issue.
This has probably been broken since the VVAR page was introduced.
On QEMU, if you dump the run-time contents of the VVAR page, you can
find entertaining strings from seabios left behind.
It's remotely possible that this is a security bug -- conceivably
there's some BIOS out there that leaves something sensitive in the
few K of memory that is exposed to userspace.

This patch add the VDSO time support for the IA32 Emulation Layer.
Due the nature of the kernel headers and the LP64 compiler where the
size of a long and a pointer differs against a 32 bit compiler, there
is some type hacking necessary for optimal performance.
The vsyscall_gtod_data struture must be a rearranged to serve 32- and
64-bit code access at the same time:
- The seqcount_t was replaced by an unsigned, this makes the
vsyscall_gtod_data intedepend of kernel configuration and internal functions.
- All kernel internal structures are replaced by fix size elements
which works for 32- and 64-bit access
- The inner struct clock was removed to pack the whole struct.
The "unsigned seq" would be handled by functions derivated from seqcount_t.

If CONFIG_TRANSPARENT_HUGEPAGE is enabled, but CONFIG_HUGETLB_PAGE is not,
it is possible to end up with a configuration that fails to build with the
following error:

This is due to CONFIG_FORCE_MAX_ZONEORDER defaulting to 11. It already has
ranges that change the valid values when HUGETLB_PAGE is enabled, but this
is not done for TRANSPARENT_HUGEPAGE. Fix by changing the HUGETLB_PAGE
dependencies to MIPS_HUGE_TLB_SUPPORT, which includes both
TRANSPARENT_HUGEPAGE and HUGETLB_PAGE.

Dan reported that phys_efi_get_time() is doing kmalloc(..., GFP_KERNEL)
under a spinlock which is very clearly a bug. Since phys_efi_get_time()
has no users let's just delete it instead of trying to fix it.
Note that since there are no users of phys_efi_get_time(), it is not
possible to actually trigger a GFP_KERNEL alloc under the spinlock.

I was triggering a #GP(0) from userland when running with
CONFIG_EFI_MIXED and CONFIG_IA32_EMULATION, from what looked like
register corruption. Turns out that the mixed mode code was trashing the
contents of %ds, %es and %ss in __efi64_thunk().
Save and restore the contents of these segment registers across the call
to __efi64_thunk() so that we don't corrupt the CPU context.

When checking a system call return code for an error,
linux_sparc_syscall was sign-extending the lower 32-bit value and
comparing it to -ERESTART_RESTARTBLOCK. lseek can return valid return
codes whose lower 32-bits alone would indicate a failure (such as 4G-1).
Use the whole 64-bit value to check for errors. Only the 32-bit path
should sign extend the lower 32-bit value.

Commit 597ce1723e "MIPS: Support for 64-bit FP with O32 binaries"
introduced support for setting Status.FR=1 for O32 binaries with the
EF_MIPS_FP64 ELF header flag set. Whilst this flag is currently
supported by binutils it does introduce an ABI break within userland.
Objects built with EF_MIPS_FP64 cannot be safely linked with those built
without it since code in either object may assume behaviour specific to
a value of FR.
More recently there has been discussion around avoiding further
fragmentation of the O32 ABI whilst still allowing the use of FR=1 and
features such as MSA which depend upon it. Details of the plan to allow
this are still being worked on, and whilst the kernel will need the
ability to handle FR=1 with O32 tasks it is unclear what else it may
need to provide to a userland which seeks to avoid another ABI break. In
order to prevent the proliferation of userland which may rely upon the
current EF_MIPS_FP64 behaviour this patch marks the kernel support for
it experimental & disables it by default. Under current proposals it is
likely that this support can simply be enabled again later, but possibly
after the introduction of further interfaces with userland and support
for the MIPS R5 UFR feature.

Limit the number of bits to the maximum number of cpus a machine
can have.
possible_cpu_mask typically will have more bits set than a machine
may physically have. This results in wasted memory during per-cpu
memory allocations, if the possible mask contains more cpus than
physically possible for a given configuration.

In 32-bit mode, the start address passed to flush_icache_range is
shifted by 4 bytes before the second safe_store_code() call.
This causes system crash from time to time because the first 4 bytes
might not be flushed properly. This bug exists since linux-3.8.
Also remove obsoleted comment while at it.

The syscall_get_arguments function expects the arguments to be copied
to the '*args' argument but instead a local variable was used to hold
the system call argument. As a result of which, this variable was
never passed to the filter and any filter testing the system call
arguments would fail. This is fixed by passing the '*args' variable
as the destination memory for the system call arguments.

When doing nested virtualization, we may be able to read BNDCFGS but
still not be allowed to write to GUEST_BNDCFGS in the VMCS. Guard
writes to the field with vmx_mpx_supported(), and similarly hide the
MSR from userspace if the processor does not support the field.
We could work around this with the generic MSR save/load machinery,
but there is only a limited number of MSR save/load slots and it is
not really worthwhile to waste one for a scenario that should not
happen except in the nested virtualization case.

XSAVE support for KVM is already using host_xcr0 & KVM_SUPPORTED_XCR0 as
a "dynamic" version of KVM_SUPPORTED_XCR0.
However, this is not enough because the MPX bits should not be presented
to the guest unless kvm_x86_ops confirms the support. So, replace all
instances of host_xcr0 & KVM_SUPPORTED_XCR0 with a new function
kvm_supported_xcr0() that also has this check.

Since commit 7c470539c9
(s390/kvm: avoid automatic sie reentry) we will run through the C code
of KVM on host interrupts instead of just reentering the guest. This
will result in additional ucontrol exits (at least HZ per second). Let
handle a 0 intercept in the kernel and dont return to userspace,
even if in ucontrol mode.

The BUG_ON in kvm-s390.c is unreachable, as we get the vcpu per common code,
which itself does this from the private_data field of the file descriptor,
and there is no KVM_UNCREATE_VCPU.
The __{set,unset}_cpu_idle BUG_ONs are not triggerable because the vcpu
creation code already checks against KVM_MAX_VCPUS.

Rather than have separate hugetlb and transparent huge page pmd
manipulation functions, re-wire our thp functions to simply call the
pte equivalents.
This allows THP to take advantage of the new PTE_WRITE logic introduced

This enables support for the generic CPU feature modalias implementation that
wires up optional CPU features to udev based module autoprobing.
A file <asm/cpufeature.h> is provided that maps CPU feature numbers to
elf_hwcap bits, which is the standard way on arm64 to advertise optional CPU
features both internally and to user space.

For systems with multiple servers and routed fabric, all
northbridges get assigned to the first server. Fix this by also
using the node reported from the PCI bus. For single-fabric
systems, the northbriges are on PCI bus 0 by definition, which
are on NUMA node 0 by definition, so this is invarient on most
systems.
Tested on fam10h and fam15h single and multi-fabric systems and
candidate for stable.

14) Remove assumptions in AF_UNIX's use of csum_partial() (which it
uses as a hash function), which breaks on PowerPC. From Anton
Blanchard.
The main gist of the issue is that csum_partial() is defined only
as a value that, once folded (f.e. via csum_fold()) produces a
correct 16-bit checksum. It is legitimate, therefore, for
csum_partial() to produce two different 32-bit values over the
same data if their respective alignments are different.
15) Fix endiannes bug in MAC address handling of ibmveth driver, also
from Anton Blanchard.
16) Error checks for ipv6 exthdrs offload registration are reversed,
from Anton Nayshtut.
17) Externally triggered ipv6 addrconf routes should count against the
garbage collection threshold. Fix from Sabrina Dubroca.
18) The PCI shutdown handler added to the bnx2 driver can wedge the
chip if it was not brought up earlier already, which in particular
causes the firmware to shut down the PHY. Fix from Michael Chan.
19) Adjust the sanity WARN_ON_ONCE() in qdisc_list_add() because as
currently coded it can and does trigger in legitimate situations.

The compat vDSO is a complicated hack that's needed to maintain
compatibility with a small range of glibc versions.
This removes it and replaces it with a much simpler hack: a config
option to disable the 32-bit vDSO by default.
This also changes the default value of CONFIG_COMPAT_VDSO to n --
users configuring kernels from scratch almost certainly want that
choice.

Replace somewhat arbitrary constants for bits in MSR_IA32_MISC_ENABLE
with verbose but systematic ones. Add _BIT defines for all the rest
of them, too.

We very often need to set or clear a bit in an MSR as a result of doing
some sort of a hardware configuration. Add generic versions of that
repeated functionality in order to save us a bunch of duplicated code in
the early CPU vendor detection/config code.

Many architectures have a stub cputime.h that only include the default
cputime.h
Lets remove the useless headers, we only need to mention that we want

Add support for unwinding using the dwarf information in compat
mode. Using the correct user stack pointer allows perf to record
the frames correctly in the native and compat modes.
Note that although the dwarf frame unwinding works ok using
libunwind in native mode (on ARMv7 & ARMv8), some changes are
required to the libunwind code for the compat mode. Those changes
are posted separately on the libunwind mailing list.
Tested on ARMv8 platform with v8 and compat v7 binaries, the latter
are statically built.
