Merge series from Ranjani Sridharan <ranjani.sridharan@linux.intel.com>:
In preparation for supporting the newly introduced IPC version in the SOF
firmware, this patchset adds the changes required to make the
pcm_hw_params DSP op IPC agnostic.
The existing code maximizes confusion by using 'stream' and 'hstream'
variables of different types, e.g:
struct hdac_stream *stream;
struct hdac_ext_stream *stream;
struct hdac_stream *hstream;
struct hdac_ext_stream *hstream;
This confusion is partly inherited from legacy code but SOF
contributors added their own creative spin, e.g.
struct hdac_ext_stream *link_dev;
struct hdac_ext_stream *dsp_stream;
struct hdac_ext_stream hda_stream;
and my personal favorite:
stream = &hda_stream->hda_stream;
This patch suggests a consistent naming across all Intel code related
to HDAudio stream management. The convention is - by hierarchical
order:
struct sof_intel_hda_stream *hda_stream;
struct hdac_ext_stream *hext_stream;
struct hdac_stream *hstream;
No functionality change - just renaming of variables/members.

The code inherited from the Skylake driver does not seem to follow any
known hardware recommendations.
The only two recommended options are
a) use DPIB registers if VC1 traffic is not allowed
b) use DPIB DDR update if VC1 traffic is used
In all of SOF-based updated, VC1 is not supported so we can 'safely'
move to using DPIB registers only.
This patch keeps the legacy code, in case there was an undocumented
issue lost to history, and adds the DPIB DDR update for additional
debug.

When we disable rewinds, then the .ack can be used to program SPIB
with the application pointer, which allows the HDaudio DMA to save
power by opportunistically bursting data transfers when the path to
memory is enabled (and conversely to shut it down when there are no
transfer requests).
The SPIB register can only be programmed with incremental values with
wrap-around after the DMA RUN bits are set. For simplicity, we set the
INFO_NO_REWINDS flag in the .open callback when we already need to
program the SNDRV_PCM_INFO_SYNC_APPLPTR flag.
Rewinds are not used by many applications. One notable application
using rewinds is PulseAudio. Practical experiments with
Ubuntu/PulseAudio default settings did not show any audible issues,
but the user may hear volume changes and notification with a delay,
depending on the size of the ring buffer and latency constraints.
The choice of disabling rewinds is exposed as a kernel parameter and
not a Kconfig option to avoid any undesirable side-effects.

Exposing the DMI L1 configuration as a kernel Kconfig option was in
hindsight a really bad idea. It led to several errors reported by
distributions which selected it by mistake.
The Kconfig is now replaced with a kernel parameter. Since DMI L1
entry is incompatible with pause on a capture stream, the latter is
disabled when the kernel parameter is set.
Experimental results show an increased residency in higher C states
and a significant decrease of system power consumption for "work from
home" usages such as VoIP calls.

Move all the audio-specific code in the core,
audio-specific logic in the top-level PM callbacks
and the core header files into a separate file
(sof-audio.*) in preparation for adding an
audio client device.
In the process of moving all structure definitions
for widget, routes, pcm's etc, the snd_sof_dev
member in all these structs is replaced with
the snd_soc_component member. Also, use the component
device instead of the snd_sof_dev device wherever
possible in the PCM component driver,
control IO functions and the topology parser as the
component device will be moved over to the client
device later on.
