Staging: echo: fix kmalloc()/kfree() uses

This patch removes the malloc()/free() macro wrappers and converts
call-sites to use kcalloc() and kzalloc() where appropriate. I also
fixed up out-of-memory error handling in couple of places where it was
broken.
