This fixes the function for riscv32 where the old nanosleep() is not available.
clock_nanosleep() has been available since Linux 2.6 and glibc 2.1 anyway.
It is now composed of these main sections:
* Declarations that are shared among all operating systems.
* Declarations that have the same name, but different type signatures
depending on the operating system. Often multiple operating systems
share the same type signatures however.
* Declarations that are specific to a single operating system.
- These are imported one per line so you can see where they come from,
protected by a comptime block to prevent accessing the wrong one.
Closes#19352 by changing the convention to making types `void` and
functions `{}`, so that it becomes possible to update `@hasDecl` sites
to use `@TypeOf(f) != void` or `T != void`. Happily, this ended up
removing some duplicate logic and update some bitrotted feature
detection checks.
A handful of types have been modified to gain namespacing and type
safety. This is a breaking change.
Oh, and the last usage of `usingnamespace` site is eliminated.
* std.c: consolidate some definitions, making them share code. For
example, freebsd, dragonfly, and openbsd can all share the same
`pthread_mutex_t` definition.
* add type safety to std.c.O
- this caught a bug where mode flags were incorrectly passed as the
open flags.
* 3 fewer uses of usingnamespace keyword
* as per convention, remove purposeless field prefixes from struct field
names even if they have those prefixes in the corresponding C code.
* fix incorrect wasi libc Stat definition
* remove C definitions from incorrectly being in std.os.wasi
* make std.os.wasi definitions type safe
* go through wasi native APIs even when linking libc because the libc
APIs are problematic and wasteful
* don't expose WASI definitions in std.posix
* remove std.os.wasi.rights_t.ALL: this is a footgun. should it be all
future rights too? or only all current rights known? both are
the wrong answer.
This reverts commit 0c99ba1eab, reversing
changes made to 5f92b070bf.
This caused a CI failure when it landed in master branch due to a
128-bit `@byteSwap` in std.mem.
Most of this migration was performed automatically with `zig fmt`. There
were a few exceptions which I had to manually fix:
* `@alignCast` and `@addrSpaceCast` cannot be automatically rewritten
* `@truncate`'s fixup is incorrect for vectors
* Test cases are not formatted, and their error locations change
The majority of these are in comments, some in doc comments which might
affect the generated documentation, and a few in parameter names -
nothing that should be breaking, however.

The renderer treats comments and doc comments differently since doc
comments are parsed into the Ast. This commit adds a check after getting
the text for the doc comment and trims whitespace at the end before
rendering.
The `a = 0,` in the test is here to avoid a ParseError while parsing the
test.
* add functions to decode an epoch timestamp
The code added here is alternative to the libc gmtime function. This function takes a unix epoch timestamp and decodes it into things like the year/day/time/etc. I looked at various libc implementations to see how it was implemented and this appears to be correct. I reorganized it so that applications can choose which data they need rather than calcualting it all in a single function. The data structures layout the order of operations required to decode various things like the year/month or time of day.
* set Month.jan to 1 instead of 0 to avoid +1 in conversion to numeric
* add another test
* remove unnecessary comptimeMod
* std lib tests are passing on x86_64-linux with and without -lc
* stage2 is building from source on x86_64-linux
* down to 38 remaining uses of `usingnamespace`
The main purpose of this branch is to explore avoiding the
`usingnamespace` feature of the zig language, specifically with regards
to `std.os` and related functionality.
If this experiment is successful, it will provide a data point on
whether or not it would be practical to entirely remove `usingnamespace`
from the language.
In this commit, `usingnamespace` has been completely eliminated from
the Linux x86_64 compilation path, aside from io_uring.
The behavior tests pass, however that's as far as this branch goes. It is
very breaking, and a lot more work is needed before it could be
considered mergeable. I wanted to put a pull requset up early so that
zig programmers have time to provide feedback.
This is progress towards closing #6600 since it clarifies where the
actual "owner" of each declaration is, and reduces the number of
different ways to import the same declarations.
One of the main organizational strategies used here is to do namespacing
with real namespaces (e.g. structs) rather than by having declarations
share a common prefix (the C strategy). It's no coincidence that
`usingnamespace` has similar semantics to `#include` and becomes much
less necessary when using proper namespaces.
We already have a LICENSE file that covers the Zig Standard Library. We
no longer need to remind everyone that the license is MIT in every single
file.
Previously this was introduced to clarify the situation for a fork of
Zig that made Zig's LICENSE file harder to find, and replaced it with
their own license that required annual payments to their company.
However that fork now appears to be dead. So there is no need to
reinforce the copyright notice in every single file.
The primary purpose of this change is to eliminate one usage of
`usingnamespace` in the standard library - specifically the usage for
errno values in `std.os.linux`.
This is accomplished by truncating the `E` prefix from error values, and
making errno a proper enum.
A similar strategy can be used to eliminate some other `usingnamespace`
sites in the std lib.
Remove the constants that assume a base unit in favor of explicit
x_per_y constants.
nanosecond calendar timestamps now use i128 for the type. This affects
fs.File.Stat, std.time.nanoTimestamp, and fs.File.updateTimes.
calendar timestamps are now signed, because the value can be less than
the epoch (the user can set their computer time to whatever they wish).
implement std.os.clock_gettime for Windows when clock id is
CLOCK_CALENDAR.
This rather large commit adds/fixes missing WASI functionality
in `libstd` needed to pass the `libstd` tests. As such, now by
default tests targeting `wasm32-wasi` target are enabled in
`test/tests.zig` module. However, they can be disabled by passing
the `-Dskip-wasi=true` flag when invoking the `zig build test`
command. When the flag is set to `false`, i.e., when WASI tests are
included, `wasmtime` with `--dir=.` is used as the default testing
command.
Since the majority of `libstd` tests were relying on `fs.cwd()`
call to get current working directory handle wrapped in `Dir`
struct, in order to make the tests WASI-friendly, `fs.cwd()`
call was replaced with `testing.getTestDir()` function which
resolved to either `fs.cwd()` for non-WASI targets, or tries to
fetch the preopen list from the WASI runtime and extract a
preopen for '.' path.

* make sure ANSI escape codes are _not_ used in stderr or stdout
in WASI, as WASI always sanitizes stderr, and sanitizes stdout if
fd is a TTY
* fix specifying WASI rights when opening/creating files/dirs
* tweak `AtomicFile` to be WASI-compatible
* implement `os.renameatWasi` for WASI-compliant `os.renameat` function
* implement sleep() targeting WASI
* fix `process.getEnvMap` targeting WASI
* re-introduce `std.build.Target` which is distinct from `std.Target`.
`std.build.Target` wraps `std.Target` so that it can be annotated as
"the native target" or an explicitly specified target.
* `std.Target.Os` is moved to `std.Target.Os.Tag`. The former is now a
struct which has the tag as well as version range information.
* `std.elf` gains some more ELF header constants.
* `std.Target.parse` gains the ability to parse operating system
version ranges as well as glibc version.
* Added `std.Target.isGnuLibC()`.
* self-hosted dynamic linker detection and glibc version detection.
This also adds the improved logic using `/usr/bin/env` rather than
invoking the system C compiler to find the dynamic linker when zig
is statically linked. Related: #2084
Note: this `/usr/bin/env` code is work-in-progress.
* `-target-glibc` CLI option is removed in favor of the new `-target`
syntax. Example: `-target x86_64-linux-gnu.2.27`

Calling Timer.lap queried the system time twice; once to compute the lap
time and once to reset the timer. This can lead to time discrepancies
between actual and computed durations when summing the result of
Timer.lap in a loop. This commit fixes that.
also fix Timer.read to not require a pointer
* libc_installation.cpp is deleted.
src-self-hosted/libc_installation.zig is now used for both stage1 and
stage2 compilers.
* (breaking) move `std.fs.File.access` to `std.fs.Dir.access`. The API
now encourages use with an open directory handle.
* Add `std.os.faccessat` and related functions.
* Deprecate the "C" suffix naming convention for null-terminated
parameters. "C" should be used when it is related to libc. However
null-terminated parameters often have to do with the native system
ABI rather than libc. "Z" suffix is the new convention. For example,
`std.os.openC` is deprecated in favor of `std.os.openZ`.
* Add `std.mem.dupeZ` for using an allocator to copy memory and add a
null terminator.
* Remove dead struct field `std.ChildProcess.llnode`.
* Introduce `std.event.Batch`. This API allows expressing concurrency
without forcing code to be async. It requires no Allocator and does
not introduce any failure conditions. However it is not thread-safe.
* There is now an ongoing experiment to transition away from
`std.event.Group` in favor of `std.event.Batch`.
* `std.os.execvpeC` calls `getenvZ` rather than `getenv`. This is
slightly more efficient on most systems, and works around a
limitation of `getenv` lack of integration with libc.
* (breaking) `std.os.AccessError` gains `FileBusy`, `SymLinkLoop`, and
`ReadOnlyFileSystem`. Previously these error codes were all reported
as `PermissionDenied`.
* Add `std.Target.isDragonFlyBSD`.
* stage2: access to the windows_sdk functions is done with a manually
maintained .zig binding file instead of `@cImport`.
* Update src-self-hosted/libc_installation.zig with all the
improvements that stage1 has seen to src/libc_installation.cpp until
now. In addition, it now takes advantage of Batch so that evented I/O
mode takes advantage of concurrency, but it still works in blocking
I/O mode, which is how it is used in stage1.
