Part of what makes futex_unlock_pi() intricate is that rt_mutex_futex_unlock() -> rt_mutex_slowunlock() can drop rt_mutex::wait_lock. This means it cannot rely on the atomicy of wait_lock, which would be preferred in order to not rely on hb->lock so much. The reason rt_mutex_slowunlock() needs to drop wait_lock is because it can race with the rt_mutex fastpath, however futexes have their own fast path. Since futexes already have a bunch of separate rt_mutex accessors, complete that set and implement a rt_mutex variant without fastpath for them. Linux kernel ============ This file was moved to Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst Please notice that there are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
