30aad89ad0 Merge branch 'drm-armada-fixes' of git://ftp.arm.linux.org.uk/~rmk/linux-arm into drm-fixes
Three changes for the Armada DRM driver:
1. Add back the flags which tell the DRM core that we can do vblank. This
was removed in error during the recent restructuring, and came to light
   while trying textured Xv rendering.

2. Fixing a refcount leak with Xv overlay.

3. As per recent discussion, the drm_vblank_pre_modeset() calls can cause
deadlock with other changes to generic code. This change prevents those
deadlocks by switching to the drm_crtc_vblank_*() calls instead.

40ac948e02 drm/gt215/gr: fix initialisation on gddr5 boards
The binary driver modifies the default context to have this value, rather
than 0x3d0040, *after* it's filled the buffer with the usual golden data.

We don't really have anything in place to locate the correct offset to do
these type of modifications outside of the generation function, so this
will have to do.

c5488307dd drm/armada: fix page_flip refcounting leak
A refcounting leak was found of the original frame buffer attached to
the CRTC when using the page_flip ioctl, resulting in the frame buffer
never being freed.

This was not obvious initially, as if the page flip subsequently
re-attaches the original frame buffer, the refcounts will be balanced.
However, if the original frame buffer is freed, then it will be leaked.

Fix this by ensuring that we take a reference on the incoming fb, but
rely on the queued work to drop that ref count.

8e66e134e2 drm/radeon: fix vm page table block size calculation
The page offset is 12 bits. For example if we have an

e300180f71 drm/ttm: Don't evict BOs outside of the requested placement range
The radeon driver uses placement range restrictions for several reasons,
in particular to make sure BOs in VRAM can be accessed by the CPU, e.g.
during a page fault.

Without this change, TTM could evict other BOs while trying to satisfy
the requested placement, even if the evicted BOs were outside of the
requested placement range. Doing so didn't free up any space in the
requested placement range, so the (potentially high) eviction cost was
incurred for no benefit.

Nominating for stable because radeon driver changes in 3.17 made this
much more noticeable than before.

e17ac6db2e drm/i915: Don't trust the DP_DETECT bit for eDP ports on CHV
On CHV the display DDC pins may be muxed to an alternate function if
there's no need for DDC on a specific port, which is the case for eDP
ports since there's no way to plug in a DP++ HDMI dongle.

This causes problems when trying to determine if the port is present
since the the DP_DETECTED bit is the latched state of the DDC SDA pin
at boot. If the DDC pins are muxed to an alternate function the bit
may indicate that the port isn't present.

To work around this look at the VBT as well as the DP_DETECTED bit
to determine if we should attempt registering an eDP port. Do this
only for ports B and C since port D doesn't support eDP (no PPS/BLC).

In theory someone could also wire up a normal DP port w/o DDC lines.
That would just mean that simple DP++ HDMI dongles wouldn't work
on such a port. With this change we would still fail to register
such DP ports. But let's hope no one wires their board in such a way,
and if they do we can extend the VBT checks to cover normal DP ports
as well.

dfda0df342 drm/mst: rework payload table allocation to conform better.
The old code has problems with the Dell MST monitors due to some
assumptions I made that weren't true.

I initially thought the Virtual Channel Payload IDs had to be in
the DPCD table in ascending order, however it appears that assumption
is bogus.

The old code also assumed it was possible to insert a member
into the table and it would move other members up, like it does
when you remove table entries, however reality has shown this
isn't true.

So the new code allocates VCPIs separate from entries in the payload
tracking table, and when we remove an entry from the DPCD table,
I shuffle the tracking payload entries around in the struct.

This appears to make VT switch more robust (still not perfect)
with an MST enabled Dell monitor.

1180e20606 drm/i915: properly reenable gen8 pipe IRQs
We were missing the pipe B/C vblank bits! Take a look at
gen8_de_irq_postinstall for a comparison.

This should fix a bunch of IGT tests.

There are a few more things we could improve on this code, but this
should be the minimal fix to unblock us.

b9af5643fd Staging patches for 3.18-rc1
Here is the big staging patch set for 3.18-rc1.

Once again, we are deleting more code than we added, with something like
150000 lines deleted overall. Some of this is due to drivers being
added to the networking tree, so the old versions are removed here, but
even then, the overall difference is quite good.

Other than driver deletions, lots and lots and lots of minor cleanups
all over the place. Full details are in the shortlog below.

PS. My virtio-next tree is empty: DaveM took the patches I had. There might
be a virtio-rng starvation fix, but so far it's a bit voodoo so I will

673e7bbdb3 drm/i915: intel_backlight scale() math WA
Improper truncated integer division in the scale() function causes
actual_brightness != brightness. This (partial) work-around should be
sufficient for a majority of use-cases, but it is by no means a complete
solution.

TODO: Determine how best to scale "user" values to "hw" values, and
vice-versa, when the ranges are of different sizes. That would be a
buggy scenario even with this work-around.

The issue was introduced in the following (v3.17-rc1) commit:

6dda730 drm/i915: respect the VBT minimum backlight brightness

Note that for easier backporting this commit adds a duplicated macro.
A follow-up cleanup patch rectifies this for 3.18+

v2: (thanks to Chris Wilson) clarify commit message, use rounded division
macro

v3: -DIV_ROUND_CLOSEST() fails to build with CONFIG_X86_32=y. (Jani)
    -Use DIV_ROUND_CLOSEST_ULL() instead. (Damien)
-v1 and v2 originally authored by Joe Konno.

6fbb702e27 drm/nouveau: make sure display hardware is reinitialised on runtime resume
Linus commit 05c63c2ff2 modified the
runtime suspend/resume paths to skip over display-related tasks to
avoid locking issues on resume.

Unfortunately, this resulted in the display hardware being left in
a partially initialised state, preventing subsequent modesets from
completing.

This commit unifies the (many) suspend/resume paths, bringing back
display (and fbcon) handling in the runtime paths.
