Calling stat() from userspace correctly identified junctions in an NTFS
partition as symlinks, but using readdir() and iterating through the
directory containing the same junction did not identify the junction
as a symlink.
When emitting directory contents, check FILE_ATTRIBUTE_REPARSE_POINT
attribute to detect junctions and report them as links.

Upon investigation of the C reproducer provided by Syzbot, it seemed
the reproducer was trying to mount a corrupted NTFS filesystem, then
issue a rename syscall to some nodes in the filesystem. This can be
shown by modifying the reproducer to only include the mount syscall,
and investigating the filesystem by e.g. `ls` and `rm` commands. As a
result, during the problematic call to `hdr_fine_e`, the `inode` being
supplied did not go through `indx_init`, hence the `cmp` function
pointer was never set.
The fix is simply to check whether `cmp` is not set, and return NULL
if that's the case, in order to be consistent with other error
scenarios of the `hdr_find_e` method. The rationale behind this patch
is that:
- We should prevent crashing the kernel even if the mounted filesystem
is corrupted. Any syscalls made on the filesystem could return
invalid, but the kernel should be able to sustain these calls.
- Only very specific corruption would lead to this bug, so it would be
a pretty rare case in actual usage anyways. Therefore, introducing a
check to specifically protect against this bug seems appropriate.
Because of its rarity, an `unlikely` clause is used to wrap around
this nullity check.

Syzbot was able to create a device which has the last sector of size
512.
After failing to boot from initial sector, reading from boot info from
offset 511 causes OOB read.
To prevent such reports add sanity check to validate if size of buffer_head
if big enough to hold ntfs3 bootinfo

Merge tag 'v6.6-vfs.super' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/vfs/vfs
Pull superblock updates from Christian Brauner:
"This contains the super rework that was ready for this cycle. The
first part changes the order of how we open block devices and allocate
superblocks, contains various cleanups, simplifications, and a new
mechanism to wait on superblock state changes.
This unblocks work to ultimately limit the number of writers to a
block device. Jan has already scheduled follow-up work that will be
ready for v6.7 and allows us to restrict the number of writers to a
given block device. That series builds on this work right here.
The second part contains filesystem freezing updates.
Overview:
The generic superblock changes are rougly organized as follows
(ignoring additional minor cleanups):
(1) Removal of the bd_super member from struct block_device.
This was a very odd back pointer to struct super_block with
unclear rules. For all relevant places we have other means to get
the same information so just get rid of this.
(2) Simplify rules for superblock cleanup.
Roughly, everything that is allocated during fs_context
initialization and that's stored in fs_context->s_fs_info needs
to be cleaned up by the fs_context->free() implementation before
the superblock allocation function has been called successfully.
After sget_fc() returned fs_context->s_fs_info has been
transferred to sb->s_fs_info at which point sb->kill_sb() if
fully responsible for cleanup. Adhering to these rules means that
cleanup of sb->s_fs_info in fill_super() is to be avoided as it's
brittle and inconsistent.
Cleanup shouldn't be duplicated between sb->put_super() as
sb->put_super() is only called if sb->s_root has been set aka
when the filesystem has been successfully born (SB_BORN). That
complexity should be avoided.
This also means that block devices are to be closed in
sb->kill_sb() instead of sb->put_super(). More details in the
lower section.
(3) Make it possible to lookup or create a superblock before opening
block devices
There's a subtle dependency on (2) as some filesystems did rely
on fill_super() to be called in order to correctly clean up
sb->s_fs_info. All these filesystems have been fixed.
(4) Switch most filesystem to follow the same logic as the generic
mount code now does as outlined in (3).
(5) Use the superblock as the holder of the block device. We can now
easily go back from block device to owning superblock.
(6) Export and extend the generic fs_holder_ops and use them as
holder ops everywhere and remove the filesystem specific holder
ops.
(7) Call from the block layer up into the filesystem layer when the
block device is removed, allowing to shut down the filesystem
without risk of deadlocks.
(8) Get rid of get_super().
We can now easily go back from the block device to owning
superblock and can call up from the block layer into the
filesystem layer when the device is removed. So no need to wade
through all registered superblock to find the owning superblock
anymore"

As a rule of thumb everything allocated to the fs_context and moved into
the super_block should be freed by ->kill_sb so that the teardown
handling doesn't need to be duplicated between the fill_super error
path and put_super. Implement an ntfs3-specific kill_sb method to do
that.

generic_fillattr just fills in the entire stat struct indiscriminately
today, copying data from the inode. There is at least one attribute
(STATX_CHANGE_COOKIE) that can have side effects when it is reported,
and we're looking at adding more with the addition of multigrain
timestamps.
Add a request_mask argument to generic_fillattr and have most callers
just pass in the value that is passed to getattr. Have other callers
(e.g. ksmbd) just pass in STATX_BASIC_STATS. Also move the setting of
STATX_CHANGE_COOKIE into generic_fillattr.

Add a new config option that controls building the buffer_head code, and
select it from all file systems and stacking drivers that need it.
For the block device nodes and alternative iomap based buffered I/O path
is provided when buffer_head support is not enabled, and iomap needs a
a small tweak to define the IOMAP_F_BUFFER_HEAD flag to 0 to not call
into the buffer_head code when it doesn't exist.

In a previous commit 2681631c29 ("fs/ntfs3: Add null pointer check to
attr_load_runs_vcn"), ni can be NULL in attr_load_runs_vcn(), and thus it
should be checked before being used.
However, in the call stack of this commit, mft_ni in mi_read() is
aliased with ni in attr_load_runs_vcn(), and it is also used in
mi_read() at two places:
mi_read()
rw_lock = &mft_ni->file.run_lock -> No check
attr_load_runs_vcn(mft_ni, ...)
ni (namely mft_ni) is checked in the previous commit
attr_load_runs_vcn(..., &mft_ni->file.run) -> No check
Thus, to avoid possible null-pointer dereferences, the related checks
should be added.
These bugs are reported by a static analysis tool implemented by myself,
and they are found by extending a known bug fixed in the previous commit.
Thus, they could be theoretical bugs.

Previous variant creates an inode that requires update the parent directory
(ea_packed_size). Operations in ntfs_create_inode have been rearranged
so we insert new directory entry with correct ea_packed_size and
new created inode does not require update it's parent directory.

Currently, this option does not work properly. Its use leads to unstable results.

In a previous commit c1006bd13146, ni->mi.mrec in ni_write_inode()
could be NULL, and thus a NULL check is added for this variable.
However, in the same call stack, ni->mi.mrec can be also dereferenced
in ni_clear():
ntfs_evict_inode(inode)
ni_write_inode(inode, ...)
ni = ntfs_i(inode);
is_rec_inuse(ni->mi.mrec) -> Add a NULL check by previous commit
ni_clear(ntfs_i(inode))
is_rec_inuse(ni->mi.mrec) -> No check
Thus, a possible null-pointer dereference may exist in ni_clear().
To fix it, a NULL check is added in this function.

Syzbot reports a NULL dereference in ni_write_inode.
When creating a new inode, if allocation fails in mi_init function
(called in mi_format_new function), mi->mrec is set to NULL.
In the error path of this inode creation, mi->mrec is later
dereferenced in ni_write_inode.
Add a NULL check to prevent NULL dereference.

Label ATTR_ROOT in ntfs_read_mft() sets is_root = true and
ni->ni_flags |= NI_FLAG_DIR, then next attr will goto label ATTR_ALLOC
and alloc ni->dir.alloc_run. However two states are not always
consistent and can make memory leak.
1) attr_name in ATTR_ROOT does not fit the condition it will set
is_root = true but NI_FLAG_DIR is not set.
2) next attr_name in ATTR_ALLOC fits the condition and alloc
ni->dir.alloc_run
3) in cleanup function ni_clear(), when NI_FLAG_DIR is set, it frees
ni->dir.alloc_run, otherwise it frees ni->file.run
4) because NI_FLAG_DIR is not set in this case, ni->dir.alloc_run is
leaked as kmemleak reported:

Remove struct posix_acl_{access,default}_handler for all filesystems

Merge tag 'fs.idmapped.v6.3' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/vfs/idmapping
Pull vfs idmapping updates from Christian Brauner:
- Last cycle we introduced the dedicated struct mnt_idmap type for
mount idmapping and the required infrastucture in 256c8aed2b ("fs:
introduce dedicated idmap type for mounts"). As promised in last
cycle's pull request message this converts everything to rely on
struct mnt_idmap.
Currently we still pass around the plain namespace that was attached
to a mount. This is in general pretty convenient but it makes it easy
to conflate namespaces that are relevant on the filesystem with
namespaces that are relevant on the mount level. Especially for
non-vfs developers without detailed knowledge in this area this was a
potential source for bugs.
This finishes the conversion. Instead of passing the plain namespace
around this updates all places that currently take a pointer to a
mnt_userns with a pointer to struct mnt_idmap.
Now that the conversion is done all helpers down to the really
low-level helpers only accept a struct mnt_idmap argument instead of
two namespace arguments.
Conflating mount and other idmappings will now cause the compiler to
complain loudly thus eliminating the possibility of any bugs. This
makes it impossible for filesystem developers to mix up mount and
filesystem idmappings as they are two distinct types and require
distinct helpers that cannot be used interchangeably.
Everything associated with struct mnt_idmap is moved into a single
separate file. With that change no code can poke around in struct
mnt_idmap. It can only be interacted with through dedicated helpers.
That means all filesystems are and all of the vfs is completely
oblivious to the actual implementation of idmappings.
We are now also able to extend struct mnt_idmap as we see fit. For
example, we can decouple it completely from namespaces for users that
don't require or don't want to use them at all. We can also extend
the concept of idmappings so we can cover filesystem specific
requirements.
In combination with the vfs{g,u}id_t work we finished in v6.2 this
makes this feature substantially more robust and thus difficult to
implement wrong by a given filesystem and also protects the vfs.
- Enable idmapped mounts for tmpfs and fulfill a longstanding request.
A long-standing request from users had been to make it possible to
create idmapped mounts for tmpfs. For example, to share the host's
tmpfs mount between multiple sandboxes. This is a prerequisite for
some advanced Kubernetes cases. Systemd also has a range of use-cases
to increase service isolation. And there are more users of this.
However, with all of the other work going on this was way down on the
priority list but luckily someone other than ourselves picked this
up.
As usual the patch is tiny as all the infrastructure work had been
done multiple kernel releases ago. In addition to all the tests that
we already have I requested that Rodrigo add a dedicated tmpfs
testsuite for idmapped mounts to xfstests. It is to be included into
xfstests during the v6.3 development cycle. This should add a slew of
additional tests.

Patch series "Convert writepage_t to use a folio".
More folioisation. I split out the mpage work from everything else
because it completely dominated the patch, but some implementations I just
converted outright.
This patch (of 2):
We always write back an entire folio, but that's currently passed as the
head page. Convert all filesystems that use write_cache_pages() to expect
a folio instead of a page.

Some utilities rely on the existence of this extended attribute.
Improves compatibility with NTFS-3G by adding the system.ntfs_attrib_be
extended attribute.

The hidedotfiles mount option provides the same functionality as
the NTFS-3G hide_dot_files mount option. As such, it should be
named the same for compatibility with NTGS-3G.
Rename the hidedotfiles to hide_dot_files for compatbility with
NTFS-3G.

Currently, the ntfs3 driver does return the hidedotfiles mount
option in the list of enabled mount options. This can confuse
users who may doubt they enabled the option when not seeing in
the list provided by the mount command.

Currently, the hidedotfiles mount option only has an effect when
creating new files. Removing or adding the starting dot when moving
or renaming files does not update the hidden attribute.
Make hidedotfiles also set or uset the hidden attribute when a file
gains or loses its starting dot by being moved or renamed.

Currently, the hidedotfiles mount option is behaving in the reverse
way of what would be expected: enabling it disables setting the
hidden attribute on files or directories with names starting with a
dot and disabling it enables the setting.
Reverse the behaviour of the hidedotfiles mount option so it matches
what is expected.

of files or directories with names not allowed by Windows. Use
the same option name as NTFS-3G for compatibility.

The data_size and valid_size fields of non resident attributes should be
less than the its alloc_size field, but this is not checked in
ntfs_read_mft function.
Syzbot reports a allocation order warning due to a large unchecked value
of data_size getting assigned to inode->i_size which is then passed to
kcalloc.
Add sanity check for ensuring that the data_size and valid_size fields
are not larger than alloc_size field.

Syzbot reports an out of bound access in ntfs_trim_fs.
The cause of this is using a loop termination condition that compares
window index (iw) with wnd->nbits instead of wnd->nwnd, due to which the

Fix the loop condition.

The current way of setting and getting posix acls through the generic
xattr interface is error prone and type unsafe. The vfs needs to
interpret and fixup posix acls before storing or reporting it to
userspace. Various hacks exist to make this work. The code is hard to
understand and difficult to maintain in it's current form. Instead of
making this work by hacking posix acls through xattr handlers we are
building a dedicated posix acl api around the get and set inode
operations. This removes a lot of hackiness and makes the codepaths
easier to maintain. A lot of background can be found in [1].
The current inode operation for getting posix acls takes an inode
argument but various filesystems (e.g., 9p, cifs, overlayfs) need access
to the dentry. In contrast to the ->set_acl() inode operation we cannot
simply extend ->get_acl() to take a dentry argument. The ->get_acl()
inode operation is called from:
acl_permission_check()
-> check_acl()
-> get_acl()
which is part of generic_permission() which in turn is part of
inode_permission(). Both generic_permission() and inode_permission() are
called in the ->permission() handler of various filesystems (e.g.,
overlayfs). So simply passing a dentry argument to ->get_acl() would
amount to also having to pass a dentry argument to ->permission(). We
should avoid this unnecessary change.
So instead of extending the existing inode operation rename it from
->get_acl() to ->get_inode_acl() and add a ->get_acl() method later that
passes a dentry argument and which filesystems that need access to the
dentry can implement instead of ->get_inode_acl(). Filesystems like cifs
which allow setting and getting posix acls but not using them for
permission checking during lookup can simply not implement
->get_inode_acl().
This is intended to be a non-functional change.

building a dedicated posix acl api around the get and set inode

Since some filesystem rely on the dentry being available to them when
setting posix acls (e.g., 9p and cifs) they cannot rely on set acl inode
operation. But since ->set_acl() is required in order to use the generic
posix acl xattr handlers filesystems that do not implement this inode
operation cannot use the handler and need to implement their own
dedicated posix acl handlers.
Update the ->set_acl() inode method to take a dentry argument. This
allows all filesystems to rely on ->set_acl().
As far as I can tell all codepaths can be switched to rely on the dentry
instead of just the inode. Note that the original motivation for passing
the dentry separate from the inode instead of just the dentry in the
xattr handlers was because of security modules that call
security_d_instantiate(). This hook is called during
d_instantiate_new(), d_add(), __d_instantiate_anon(), and
d_splice_alias() to initialize the inode's security context and possibly
to set security.* xattrs. Since this only affects security.* xattrs this
is completely irrelevant for posix acls.
