af86fa4001 sparc/PCI: Add mem64 resource parsing for root bus
David reported that a T5-8 sparc system failed to boot with:

  pci_sun4v f02dbcfc: PCI host bridge to bus 0000:00
  pci_bus 0000:00: root bus resource [io 0x804000000000-0x80400fffffff] (bus address [0x0000-0xfffffff])
  pci_bus 0000:00: root bus resource [mem 0x800000000000-0x80007effffff] (bus address [0x00000000-0x7effffff])
  pci 0000:00:01.0: can't claim BAR 15 [mem 0x100000000-0x4afffffff pref]: no compatible bridge window

Note that we don't know about a host bridge aperture that contains
BAR 15. OF does report a MEM64 aperture, but before this patch,
pci_determine_mem_io_space() ignored it.

Add support for host bridge apertures with 64-bit PCI addresses. Also
set IORESOURCE_MEM_64 for PCI device and bridge resources in PCI 64-bit
memory space.

Sparc doesn't actually print the device and bridge resources, but after
this patch, we should have the equivalent of this:

  pci_sun4v f02dbcfc: PCI host bridge to bus 0000:00
  pci_bus 0000:00: root bus resource [io 0x804000000000-0x80400fffffff] (bus address [0x0000-0xfffffff])
  pci_bus 0000:00: root bus resource [mem 0x800000000000-0x80007effffff] (bus address [0x00000000-0x7effffff])
  pci_bus 0000:00: root bus resource [mem 0x800100000000-0x8007ffffffff] (bus address [0x100000000-0x7ffffffff])
  pci 0000:00:01.0: bridge window [mem 0x800100000000-0x8004afffffff 64bit pref]

12f03ee606 libnvdimm for 4.3:
1/ Introduce ZONE_DEVICE and devm_memremap_pages() as a generic
    mechanism for adding device-driver-discovered memory regions to the
    kernel's direct map. This facility is used by the pmem driver to
    enable pfn_to_page() operations on the page frames returned by DAX
    ('direct_access' in 'struct block_device_operations'). For now, the
    'memmap' allocation for these "device" pages comes from "System
    RAM". Support for allocating the memmap from device memory will
    arrive in a later kernel.

 2/ Introduce memremap() to replace usages of ioremap_cache() and
    ioremap_wt(). memremap() drops the __iomem annotation for these
    mappings to memory that do not have i/o side effects. The
    replacement of ioremap_cache() with memremap() is limited to the
    pmem driver to ease merging the api change in v4.3. Completion of
    the conversion is targeted for v4.4.

 3/ Similar to the usage of memcpy_to_pmem() + wmb_pmem() in the pmem
    driver, update the VFS DAX implementation and PMEM api to provide
    persistence guarantees for kernel operations on a DAX mapping.

 4/ Convert the ACPI NFIT 'BLK' driver to map the block apertures as
    cacheable to improve performance.

 5/ Miscellaneous updates and fixes to libnvdimm including support
    for issuing "address range scrub" commands, clarifying the optimal
    'sector size' of pmem devices, a clarification of the usage of the
    ACPI '_STA' (status) property for DIMM devices, and other minor
    fixes.

Merge tag 'libnvdimm-for-4.3' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/nvdimm/nvdimm

Pull libnvdimm updates from Dan Williams:
 "This update has successfully completed a 0day-kbuild run and has
  appeared in a linux-next release. The changes outside of the typical
  drivers/nvdimm/ and drivers/acpi/nfit.[ch] paths are related to the
  removal of IORESOURCE_CACHEABLE, the introduction of memremap(), and
  the introduction of ZONE_DEVICE + devm_memremap_pages().

  Summary:

   - Introduce ZONE_DEVICE and devm_memremap_pages() as a generic
     mechanism for adding device-driver-discovered memory regions to the

     For now, the 'memmap' allocation for these "device" pages comes
     from "System RAM". Support for allocating the memmap from device
     memory will arrive in a later kernel.

   - Introduce memremap() to replace usages of ioremap_cache() and
     ioremap_wt(). memremap() drops the __iomem annotation for these
     mappings to memory that do not have i/o side effects. The
     replacement of ioremap_cache() with memremap() is limited to the
     pmem driver to ease merging the api change in v4.3.

     Completion of the conversion is targeted for v4.4.

   - Similar to the usage of memcpy_to_pmem() + wmb_pmem() in the pmem
     driver, update the VFS DAX implementation and PMEM api to provide
     persistence guarantees for kernel operations on a DAX mapping.

ca520cab25 Merge branch 'locking-core-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip
Pull locking and atomic updates from Ingo Molnar:
 "Main changes in this cycle are:

   - Extend atomic primitives with coherent logic op primitives
     (atomic_{or,and,xor}()) and deprecate the old partial APIs
     (atomic_{set,clear}_mask())

     The old ops were incoherent with incompatible signatures across
     architectures and with incomplete support. Now every architecture
     supports the primitives consistently (by Peter Zijlstra)

   - Generic support for 'relaxed atomics':

       - _acquire/release/relaxed() flavours of xchg(), cmpxchg() and {add,sub}_return()
       - atomic_read_acquire()
       - atomic_set_release()

     This came out of porting qwrlock code to arm64 (by Will Deacon)

   - Clean up the fragile static_key APIs that were causing repeat bugs,
     by introducing a new one:

       DEFINE_STATIC_KEY_TRUE(name);
       DEFINE_STATIC_KEY_FALSE(name);

     which define a key of different types with an initial true/false
     value.

     Then allow:

       static_branch_likely()
       static_branch_unlikely()

     to take a key of either type and emit the right instruction for the
     case. To be able to know the 'type' of the static key we encode it
     in the jump entry (by Peter Zijlstra)

   - Static key self-tests (by Jason Baron)

   - qrwlock optimizations (by Waiman Long)

   - small futex enhancements (by Davidlohr Bueso)

   - ... and misc other changes"

a1d8561172 Merge branch 'sched-core-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip
Pull scheduler updates from Ingo Molnar:
 "The biggest change in this cycle is the rewrite of the main SMP load
  balancing metric: the CPU load/utilization. The main goal was to make
  the metric more precise and more representative - see the changelog of
  this commit for the gory details:

    9d89c257df ("sched/fair: Rewrite runnable load and utilization average tracking")

  It is done in a way that significantly reduces complexity of the code:

    5 files changed, 249 insertions(+), 494 deletions(-)

  and the performance testing results are encouraging. Nevertheless we
  need to keep an eye on potential regressions, since this potentially
  affects every SMP workload in existence.

  This work comes from Yuyang Du.

  Other changes:

   - SCHED_DL updates.  (Andrea Parri)

   - Simplify architecture callbacks by removing finish_arch_switch().
     (Peter Zijlstra et al)

   - cputime accounting: guarantee stime + utime == rtime. (Peter

92b19ff50e cleanup IORESOURCE_CACHEABLE vs ioremap()
Quoting Arnd:
    I was thinking the opposite approach and basically removing all uses
    of IORESOURCE_CACHEABLE from the kernel. There are only a handful of
    them.and we can probably replace them all with hardcoded
    ioremap_cached() calls in the cases they are actually useful.

All existing usages of IORESOURCE_CACHEABLE call ioremap() instead of
ioremap_nocache() if the resource is cacheable, however ioremap() is
uncached by default. Clearly none of the existing usages care about the
cacheability. Particularly devm_ioremap_resource() never worked as
advertised since it always fell back to plain ioremap().

Clean this up as the new direction we want is to convert
ioremap_<type>() usages to memremap(..., flags).

ff4aea45c7 sparc/time: Migrate to new 'set-state' interface
Migrate sparc drivers to the new 'set-state' interface provided by
clockevents core, the earlier 'set-mode' interface is marked obsolete
now.

This also enables us to implement callbacks for new states of clockevent

We weren't doing anything which switching to few clockevent modes and so
their callbacks aren't implemented.

76b235c6bc jump_label: Rename JUMP_LABEL_{EN,DIS}ABLE to JUMP_LABEL_{JMP,NOP}
Since we've already stepped away from ENABLE is a JMP and DISABLE is a
NOP with the branch_default bits, and are going to make it even worse,
rename it to make it all clearer.

This way we don't mix multiple levels of logic attributes, but have a
plain 'physical' name for what the current instruction patching status
of a jump label is.

This is a first step in removing the naming confusion that has led to

This replaces the plain loop over the sglist array with for_each_sg()
macro which consists of sg_next() function calls. Since sparc does select

sparc: Resolve conflict between sparc v9 and M7 on usage of bit 9 of TTE

Bit 9 of TTE is CV (Cacheable in V-cache) on sparc v9 processor while
the same bit 9 is MCDE (Memory Corruption Detection Enable) on M7
processor. This creates a conflicting usage of the same bit. Kernel
sets TTE.cv bit on all pages for sun4v architecture which works well
for sparc v9 but enables memory corruption detection on M7 processor
which is not the intent. This patch adds code to determine if kernel
is running on M7 processor and takes steps to not enable memory
corruption detection in TTE erroneously.

    sparc64: Setup sysfs to mark LDOM sockets, cores and threads correctly

    The current sparc kernel has no representation for sockets though tools
    like lscpu can pull this from sysfs. This patch walks the machine
    description cache and socket hierarchy and marks sockets as well as cores
    and threads such that a representative sysfs is created by
    drivers/base/topology.c.

    Before this patch:

   Disable TSO using ethtool- drops badly: 2-3 Gbps.

671d773297 sparc: Make LDC use common iommu poll management functions
Note that this conversion is only being done to consolidate the
code and ensure that the common code provides the sufficient
abstraction. It is not expected to result in any noticeable
performance improvement, as there is typically one ldc_iommu
per vnet_port, and each one has 8k entries, with a typical
request for 1-4 pages. Thus LDC uses npools == 1.

In iperf experiments running linux as the Tx side (TCP client) with
10 threads results in a severe performance drop when TSO is disabled,
indicating a weakness in the software that can be avoided by using
the scalable IOMMU arena DMA allocation.

f91e8d6d76 sparc: clarify __GFP_NOFAIL allocation
Commit 920c3ed741 ("[SPARC64]: Add basic infrastructure for MD
add/remove notification") has added __GFP_NOFAIL for the allocation
request but it hasn't mentioned why is this strict requirement really
needed. The code was handling an allocation failure and propagated it
properly up the callchain so it is not clear why it is needed.

Dave has clarified the intention when I tried to remove the flag as not
being necessary:

: It is a serious failure.
:
: If we miss an MDESC update due to this allocation failure, the update
: is not an event which gets retransmitted so we will lose the updated
: machine description forever.
:
: We really need this allocation to succeed.

So add a comment to clarify the nofail flag and get rid of the failure
check because __GFP_NOFAIL allocation doesn't fail.

The reason is that state is never reset (stays with PERF_HES_UPTODATE set).
Add a call to sparc_pmu_enable_event during the added_event handling.
Clean up the encoding since pmu_start calls sparc_pmu_enable_event which
does the same. Passing PERF_EF_RELOAD to sparc_pmu_start means the call
to sparc_perf_event_set_period can be removed as well.

5b0d4b5514 sparc: perf: Remove redundant perf_pmu_{en|dis}able calls
perf_pmu_disable is called by core perf code before pmu->del and the
enable function is called by core perf code afterwards. No need to
call again within sparc_pmu_del.

Ditto for pmu->add and sparc_pmu_add.
