arm64, bpf: add internal-only MOV instruction to resolve per-CPU addrs
Support an instruction for resolving absolute addresses of per-CPU
data from their per-CPU offsets. This instruction is internal-only and
users are not allowed to use them directly. They will only be used for
internal inlining optimizations for now between BPF verifier and BPF
JITs.

arm64: Get rid of ARM64_HAS_NO_HW_PREFETCH
Back in 2016, it was argued that implementations lacking a HW prefetcher could be helped by sprinkling a number of PRFM instructions in strategic locations. In 2023, the one platform that presumably needed this hack is no longer in active use (let alone maintained), and an quick experiment shows dropping this hack only leads to a 0.4% drop on a full kernel compilation (tested on a MT30-GS0 48 CPU system). Given that this is pretty much in the noise department and that it may give odd ideas to other implementers, drop the hack for good. arm64: Avoid cpus_have_const_cap() for ARM64_HAS_WFXT
In __delay() we use cpus_have_const_cap() to check for ARM64_HAS_WFXT, but this is not necessary and alternative_has_cap() would be preferable. For historical reasons, cpus_have_const_cap() is more complicated than it needs to be. Before cpucaps are finalized, it will perform a bitmap test of the system_cpucaps bitmap, and once cpucaps are finalized it will use an alternative branch. This used to be necessary to handle some race conditions in the window between cpucap detection and the subsequent patching of alternatives and static branches, where different branches could be out-of-sync with one another (or w.r.t. alternative sequences). Now that we use alternative branches instead of static branches, these are all patched atomically w.r.t. one another, and there are only a handful of cases that need special care in the window between cpucap detection and alternative patching. Due to the above, it would be nice to remove cpus_have_const_cap(), and migrate callers over to alternative_has_cap_*(), cpus_have_final_cap(), or cpus_have_cap() depending on when their requirements. This will remove redundant instructions and improve code generation, and will make it easier to determine how each callsite will behave before, during, and after alternative patching. The cpus_have_const_cap() check in __delay() is an optimization to use WFIT and WFET in preference to busy-polling the counter and/or using regular WFE and relying upon the architected timer event stream. It is not necessary to apply this optimization in the window between detecting the ARM64_HAS_WFXT cpucap and patching alternatives. This patch replaces the use of cpus_have_const_cap() with alternative_has_cap_unlikely(), which will avoid generating code to test the system_cpucaps bitmap and should be better for all subsequent calls at runtime. Since BPF signed load instructions always exend the sign bit to bit 63 regardless of whether it loads an 8-bit, 16-bit or 32-bit data. So only 64-bit register size is required. That is, it's sufficient to set field opc fixed to 0x2. - opt Indicates whether to sign extend the offset register Rm and the effective bits of Rm. We set opt to 0x7 (SXTX) since we'll use Rm as a sgined 64-bit value in BPF. - S Optional only when opt field is 0x3 (LSL) In short, the above fields are encoded to the values listed below. sz opc opt S LDRSB (immediate) 0x0 0x2 na na LDRSH (immediate) 0x1 0x2 na na LDRSW (immediate) 0x2 0x2 na na LDRSB (register) 0x0 0x2 0x7 0 LDRSH (register) 0x1 0x2 0x7 0 LDRSW (register) 0x2 0x2 0x7 0 Signed-off-by: Xu Kuohai <xukuohai@huawei.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel Borkmann <daniel@iogearbox.net> Tested-by: Florent Revest <revest@chromium.org> Acked-by: Florent Revest <revest@chromium.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/bpf/20230815154158.717901-2-xukuohai@huaweicloud.com |

arm64: insn: always inline hint generation
All users of aarch64_insn_gen_hint() (e.g. aarch64_insn_gen_nop()) pass a constant argument and generate a constant value. Some of those users are noinstr code (e.g. for alternatives patching). For noinstr code it is necessary to either inline these functions or to ensure the out-of-line versions are noinstr. Since in all cases these are generating a constant, make them __always_inline. There should be no functional change as a result of this patch. arm64: insn: simplify insn group identification
The only code which needs to check for an entire instruction group is the aarch64_insn_is_steppable() helper function used by kprobes, which must not be instrumented, and only needs to check for the "Branch, exception generation and system instructions" class. Currently we have an out-of-line helper in insn.c which must be marked as __kprobes, which indexes a table with some bits extracted from the instruction. In aarch64_insn_is_steppable() we then need to compare the result with an expected enum value. It would be simpler to have a predicate for this, as with the other aarch64_insn_is_*() helpers, which would be always inlined to prevent inadvertent instrumentation, and would permit better code generation. This patch adds a predicate function for this instruction group using the existing __AARCH64_INSN_FUNCS() helpers, and removes the existing out-of-line helper. As the only class we currently care about is the branch+exception+sys class, I have only added helpers for this, and left the other classes unimplemented for now. There should be no functional change as a result of this patch. arm64: insn: always inline predicates
We have a number of aarch64_insn_*() predicates which are used in code which is not instrumentation safe (e.g. alternatives patching, kprobes). Some of those are marked with __kprobes, but most are not, and are implemented out-of-line in insn.c. This patch moves the predicates to insn.h and marks them with __always_inline. This is ensures that they will respect the instrumentation requirements of their caller which they will be inlined into. At the same time, I've formatted each of the functions consistently as a list, to make them easier to read and update in future. Other than preventing unwanted instrumentation, there should be no functional change as a result of this patch. arm64: Add LDR (literal) instruction
Add LDR (literal) instruction to load data from address relative to PC. This instruction will be used to implement long jump from bpf prog to bpf trampoline in the follow-up patch. The instruction encoding: 3 2 2 2 0 0 0 7 6 4 5 0 +-----+-------+---+-----+-------------------------------------+--------+ | 0 x | 0 1 1 | 0 | 0 0 | imm19 | Rt | +-----+-------+---+-----+-------------------------------------+--------+ for 32-bit, variant x == 0; for 64-bit, x == 1. branch_imm_common() is used to check the distance between pc and target address, since it's reused by this patch and LDR (literal) is not a branch instruction, rename it to label_imm_common(). Networking changes for 5.19.
Core ---- - Support TCPv6 segmentation offload with super-segments larger than 64k bytes using the IPv6 Jumbogram extension header (AKA BIG TCP). - Generalize skb freeing deferral to per-cpu lists, instead of per-socket lists. - Add a netdev statistic for packets dropped due to L2 address mismatch (rx_otherhost_dropped). - Continue work annotating skb drop reasons. - Accept alternative netdev names (ALT_IFNAME) in more netlink requests. - Add VLAN support for AF_PACKET SOCK_RAW GSO. - Allow receiving skb mark from the socket as a cmsg. - Enable memcg accounting for veth queues, sysctl tables and IPv6. BPF --- - Add libbpf support for User Statically-Defined Tracing (USDTs). - Speed up symbol resolution for kprobes multi-link attachments. - Support storing typed pointers to referenced and unreferenced objects in BPF maps. - Add support for BPF link iterator. - Introduce access to remote CPU map elements in BPF per-cpu map. - Allow middle-of-the-road settings for the kernel.unprivileged_bpf_disabled sysctl. - Implement basic types of dynamic pointers e.g. to allow for dynamically sized ringbuf reservations without extra memory copies. Protocols --------- - Retire port only listening_hash table, add a second bind table hashed by port and address. Avoid linear list walk when binding to very popular ports (e.g. 443). - Add bridge FDB bulk flush filtering support allowing user space to remove all FDB entries matching a condition. - Introduce accept_unsolicited_na sysctl for IPv6 to implement router-side changes for RFC9131. - Support for MPTCP path manager in user space. - Add MPTCP support for fallback to regular TCP for connections that have never connected additional subflows or transmitted out-of-sequence data (partial support for RFC8684 fallback). - Avoid races in MPTCP-level window tracking, stabilize and improve throughput. - Support lockless operation of GRE tunnels with seq numbers enabled. - WiFi support for host based BSS color collision detection. - Add support for SO_TXTIME/SCM_TXTIME on CAN sockets. - Support transmission w/o flow control in CAN ISOTP (ISO 15765-2). - Support zero-copy Tx with TLS 1.2 crypto offload (sendfile). - Allow matching on the number of VLAN tags via tc-flower. - Add tracepoint for tcp_set_ca_state(). Driver API ---------- - Improve error reporting from classifier and action offload. - Add support for listing line cards in switches (devlink). - Add helpers for reporting page pool statistics with ethtool -S. - Add support for reading clock cycles when using PTP virtual clocks, instead of having the driver convert to time before reporting. This makes it possible to report time from different vclocks. - Support configuring low-latency Tx descriptor push via ethtool. - Separate Clause 22 and Clause 45 MDIO accesses more explicitly. arm64, insn: Add ldr/str with immediate offset
This patch introduces ldr/str with immediate offset support to simplify the JIT implementation of BPF LDX/STX instructions on arm64. Although arm64 ldr/str immediate is available in pre-index, post-index and unsigned offset forms, the unsigned offset form is sufficient for BPF, so this patch only adds this type. arm64: insn: add encoders for atomic operations
It is a preparation patch for eBPF atomic supports under arm64. eBPF needs support atomic[64]_fetch_add, atomic[64]_[fetch_]{and,or,xor} and atomic[64]_{xchg|cmpxchg}. The ordering semantics of eBPF atomics are the same with the implementations in linux kernel. Add three helpers to support LDCLR/LDEOR/LDSET/SWP, CAS and DMB instructions. STADD/STCLR/STEOR/STSET are simply encoded as aliases for LDADD/LDCLR/LDEOR/LDSET with XZR as the destination register, so no extra helper is added. atomic_fetch_add() and other atomic ops needs support for STLXR instruction, so extend enum aarch64_insn_ldst_type to do that. LDADD/LDEOR/LDSET/SWP and CAS instructions are only available when LSE atomics is enabled, so just return AARCH64_BREAK_FAULT directly in these newly-added helpers if CONFIG_ARM64_LSE_ATOMICS is disabled. arm64: clean up symbol aliasing
Now that we have SYM_FUNC_ALIAS() and SYM_FUNC_ALIAS_WEAK(), use those to simplify and more consistently define function aliases across arch/arm64. Aliases are now defined in terms of a canonical function name. For position-independent functions I've made the __pi_<func> name the canonical name, and defined other alises in terms of this. The SYM_FUNC_{START,END}_PI(func) macros obscure the __pi_<func> name, and make this hard to seatch for. The SYM_FUNC_START_WEAK_PI() macro also obscures the fact that the __pi_<func> fymbol is global and the <func> symbol is weak. For clarity, I have removed these macros and used SYM_FUNC_{START,END}() directly with the __pi_<func> name. For example: SYM_FUNC_START_WEAK_PI(func) ... asm insns ... SYM_FUNC_END_PI(func) EXPORT_SYMBOL(func) ... becomes: SYM_FUNC_START(__pi_func) ... asm insns ... SYM_FUNC_END(__pi_func) SYM_FUNC_ALIAS_WEAK(func, __pi_func) EXPORT_SYMBOL(func) For clarity, where there are multiple annotations such as EXPORT_SYMBOL(), I've tried to keep annotations grouped by symbol. For example, where a function has a name and an alias which are both exported, this is organised as: SYM_FUNC_START(func) ... asm insns ... SYM_FUNC_END(func) EXPORT_SYMBOL(func) SYM_FUNC_ALIAS(alias, func) EXPORT_SYMBOL(alias) For consistency with the other string functions, I've defined strrchr as a position-independent function, as it can safely be used as such even though we have no users today. As we no longer use SYM_FUNC_{START,END}_ALIAS(), our local copies are removed. The common versions will be removed by a subsequent patch. There should be no functional change as a result of this patch. arm64: insn: Generate 64 bit mask immediates correctly
When the insn framework is used to encode an AND/ORR/EOR instruction, aarch64_encode_immediate() is used to pick the immr imms values. If the immediate is a 64bit mask, with bit 63 set, and zeros in any of the upper 32 bits, the immr value is incorrectly calculated meaning the wrong mask is generated. For example, 0x8000000000000001 should have an immr of 1, but 32 is used, meaning the resulting mask is 0x0000000300000000. It would appear eBPF is unable to hit these cases, as build_insn()'s imm value is a s32, so when used with BPF_ALU64, the sign-extended u64 immediate would always have all-1s or all-0s in the upper 32 bits. KVM does not generate a va_mask with any of the top bits set as these VA wouldn't be usable with TTBR0_EL2. This happens because the rotation is calculated from fls(~imm), which takes an unsigned int, but the immediate may be 64bit. Use fls64() so the 64bit mask doesn't get truncated to a u32. lib/xor: make xor prototypes more friendly to compiler vectorization
Modern compilers are perfectly capable of extracting parallelism from the XOR routines, provided that the prototypes reflect the nature of the input accurately, in particular, the fact that the input vectors are expected not to overlap. This is not documented explicitly, but is implied by the interchangeability of the various C routines, some of which use temporary variables while others don't: this means that these routines only behave identically for non-overlapping inputs. So let's decorate these input vectors with the __restrict modifier, which informs the compiler that there is no overlap. While at it, make the input-only vectors pointer-to-const as well. arm64: Use BTI C directly and unconditionally
Now we have a macro for BTI C that looks like a regular instruction change all the users of the current BTI_C macro to just emit a BTI C directly and remove the macro. This does mean that we now unconditionally BTI annotate all assembly functions, meaning that they are worse in this respect than code generated by the compiler. arm64: extable: consolidate definitions
In subsequent patches we'll alter the structure and usage of struct exception_table_entry. For inline assembly, we create these using the `_ASM_EXTABLE()` CPP macro defined in <asm/uaccess.h>, and for plain assembly code we use the `_asm_extable()` GAS macro defined in <asm/assembler.h>, which are largely identical save for different escaping and stringification requirements. This patch moves the common definitions to a new <asm/asm-extable.h> header, so that it's easier to keep the two in-sync, and to remove the implication that these are only used for uaccess helpers (as e.g. load_unaligned_zeropad() is only used on kernel memory, and depends upon `_ASM_EXTABLE()`. At the same time, a few minor modifications are made for clarity and in preparation for subsequent patches: * The structure creation is factored out into an `__ASM_EXTABLE_RAW()` macro. This will make it easier to support different fixup variants in subsequent patches without needing to update all users of `_ASM_EXTABLE()`, and makes it easier to see tha the CPP and GAS variants of the macros are structurally identical. For the CPP macro, the stringification of fields is left to the wrapper macro, `_ASM_EXTABLE()`, as in subsequent patches it will be necessary to stringify fields in wrapper macros to safely concatenate strings which cannot be token-pasted together in CPP. * The fields of the structure are created separately on their own lines. This will make it easier to add/remove/modify individual fields clearly. * Additional parentheses are added around the use of macro arguments in field definitions to avoid any potential problems with evaluation due to operator precedence, and to make errors upon misuse clearer. * USER() is moved into <asm/asm-uaccess.h>, as it is not required by all assembly code, and is already refered to by comments in that file. There should be no functional change as a result of this patch. arm64: lib: __arch_copy_to_user(): fold fixups into body
Like other functions, __arch_copy_to_user() places its exception fixups in the `.fixup` section without any clear association with __arch_copy_to_user() itself. If we backtrace the fixup code, it will be symbolized as an offset from the nearest prior symbol, which happens to be `__entry_tramp_text_end`. Further, since the PC adjustment for the fixup is akin to a direct branch rather than a function call, __arch_copy_to_user() itself will be missing from the backtrace. This is confusing and hinders debugging. In general this pattern will also be problematic for CONFIG_LIVEPATCH, since fixups often return to their associated function, but this isn't accurately captured in the stacktrace. To solve these issues for assembly functions, we must move fixups into the body of the functions themselves, after the usual fast-path returns. This patch does so for __arch_copy_to_user(). Inline assembly will be dealt with in subsequent patches. Other than the improved backtracing, there should be no functional change as a result of this patch. arm64: Mitigate MTE issues with str{n}cmp()
As with strlen(), the patches importing the updated str{n}cmp() implementations were originally developed and tested before the advent of CONFIG_KASAN_HW_TAGS, and have subsequently revealed not to be MTE-safe. Since in-kernel MTE is still a rather niche case, let it temporarily fall back to the generic C versions for correctness until we can figure out the best fix. Fixes: |

arch: remove compat_alloc_user_space
All users of compat_alloc_user_space() and copy_in_user() have been removed from the kernel, only a few functions in sparc remain that can be changed to calling arch_copy_in_user() instead.
