b809fc656e perf build: Shellcheck support for OUTPUT directory
Migrate Makefile.tests to Build so that variables like rule_mkdir are
defined via Makefile.build (needed so the output directory can be
created). This requires SHELLCHECK being exported and the clean rule
tweaking to remove the files in find.

Change find "-perm -o=x" as it was failing on my Debian based Linux
kernel tree, switch to using "-executable".

Adding a filename prefix of "." to the shellcheck log files is a pain
and error prone in make, remove this prefix and just add the
shellcheck log files to .gitignore.

Fix the command echo so that running the test is displayed.

b777b3d255 perf jevents: Run metric_test.py at compile-time
Add a target that generates a log file for running metric_test.py and
make this a dependency on generating pmu-events.c. The log output is
displayed if the test fails like (the test was modified to make it
fail):

```
  TEST    /tmp/perf/pmu-events/metric_test.log
F......
======================================================================
FAIL: test_Brackets (__main__.TestMetricExpressions)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "tools/perf/pmu-events/metric_test.py", line 33, in test_Brackets
    self.assertEqual((a * b + c).ToPerfJson(), 'a * b + d')
AssertionError: 'a * b + c' != 'a * b + d'
- a * b + c
?         ^
+ a * b + d
?         ^
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ran 7 tests in 0.004s
FAILED (failures=1)
make[3]: *** [pmu-events/Build:32: /tmp/perf/pmu-events/metric_test.log] Error 1
```

However, normal execution will just show the TEST line.

This is roughly modeled on fortify testing in the kernel lib directory.

Modify metric_test.py so that it is executable. This is necessary when
PYTHON isn't specified in the build, the normal case.

Use variables to make the paths to files clearer and more consistent.

Committer notes:

Add pmu-events/metric_test.log to tools/perf/.gitignore and to the
'clean' target on tools/perf/Makefile.perf.

84bec6f0b3 perf build: Install libsymbol locally when building
The perf build currently has a '-Itools/lib' on the CC command
line. This causes issues as the libapi, libsubcmd, libtraceevent,
libbpf and libsymbol headers are all found via this path, making it
impossible to override include behavior.

Change the libsymbol build mirroring the libbpf, libsubcmd, libapi,
libperf and libtraceevent build, so that it is installed in a directory
along with its headers.

A later change will modify the include behavior. Don't build kallsyms.o
as part of util as this will lead to duplicate definitions. Add
kallsym's directory to the MANIFEST rather than individual files, so
that the Build and Makefile are added to a source tar ball.

94d957ae51 perf tools: Add the include/perf/ directory to .gitignore
Commit 3af1dfdd51 ("perf build: Move perf_dlfilters.h in the
source tree") moved perf_dlfilters.h to the include/perf/ directory
while include/perf is ignored because it has 'perf' in the name. Newly
created files in the include/perf/ directory will be ignored.

Testing:

Before:

  $ touch tools/perf/include/perf/junk
  $ git status | grep junk
  $ git check-ignore -v tools/perf/include/perf/junk
  tools/perf/.gitignore:6:perf    tools/perf/include/perf/junk

After:

  $ git status | grep junk
  tools/perf/include/perf/junk
  $ git check-ignore -v tools/perf/include/perf/junk

Add !include/perf/ to perf's .gitignore file.

c501e90b47 perf tools: Add perf-with-kcore script
Decoding an Intel PT trace of the kernel requires an accurate kernel
object image. This is provided by making a copy of kcore. However the
copy needs to be made under the same conditions as the original
recording, and then it needs to be associated with the perf.data file.
The perf-with-kcore script does that.

The script also checks the permissions on the buildid cache and can be
used to fix them. That is needed for distributions where root does not
have a home directory and consequently writes to the same buildid cache
as the user, resulting in cached files that the user does not have
access to.

Example:

$ ./perf-with-kcore
Usage: perf-with-kcore <perf sub-command> <perf.data directory> [<sub-command options> [ -- <workload>]]
       <perf sub-command> can be record, script, report or inject
   or: perf-with-kcore fix_buildid_cache_permissions
$ ./perf-with-kcore record pt_uname -e intel_pt// -- uname
Recording
Using /home/ahunter/bin/perf
perf version 3.15.rc3.g4549ba
/home/ahunter/bin/perf record -o pt_uname/perf.data -e intel_pt//  -- uname

a3d1ee10d1 perf tools: Makefile: Remove various and sundry cruft
This commit squashes several commits that remove:

 unnecessary uname calls
 `sh -c'
 BUILT_INS and QUIET_BUILT_IN

    They have no effect, and the `fixup-builtins' and `check-builtins.sh'
    scripts don't even exist.

 RUNTIME_PREFIX

    It's currently never anything but unset, and it's apparently
    only meaningful when Microsoft Windows is the operating system
    (according to the source for git).

 TEST_PROGRAMS
 EXTRA_PROGRAMS
 unused SHELL_PATH_SQ portions
 unused test for V=2
 useless exports

    Only when `V' is undefined (that is, only when the value of `V'
    is empty) is `export V' performed, which just has the effect of
    placing the empty-valued variable `V' in the environment.

    The only other script to make use of `V' is `Documentation/Makefile',
    which only checks whether `V' is undefined (that is, whether the value
    of `V' is empty); hence, the `export V' has no effect whatsoever.

    Similarly, `export QUIET_GEN' is useless because it will only have
    a non-empty value when `V' has an empty-value, and when `V' has
    an empty-value, `QUIET_GEN' is always explicitly set in every
    script in which it is used.

    `DESTDIR' is only ever defined by the user via the environment
    or the command line, both of which are automatically exported
    to sub-make processes. Furthermore, no non-make sub-scripts
    make use of `DESTDIR' as an environment variable.

    No other scripts use `perfexec_instdir'.

 unused QUIET_SUBDIR{0,1}
 TAR and RPMBUILD
 PTHREAD_LIBS
 Maintainer's dist rules and commands
 distclean target
 Test suite coverage testing
 PRINT_DIR and NO_SUBDIR
 `configure' target
 NO_CURL
 @@PERF_VERSION@@ substitution

    Without the sed command, all of the rule's commands can be reduced
    to a single line that copies a file and sets the permissions properly
    in the process.

 double-colon rules

    The use of double-colon rules seems misguided or vestigial git.
