76bfd3de34 tracing updates for 5.19:
- The majority of the changes are for fixes and clean ups.
 
 Noticeable changes:
 
 - Rework trace event triggers code to be easier to interact with.
 
 - Support for embedding bootconfig with the kernel (as suppose to having it
   embedded in initram). This is useful for embedded boards without initram
   disks.
 
 - Speed up boot by parallelizing the creation of tracefs files.
 
 - Allow absolute ring buffer timestamps handle timestamps that use more than
   59 bits.
 
 - Added new tracing clock "TAI" (International Atomic Time)

3e35142ef9 kexec_file: drop weak attribute from arch_kexec_apply_relocations[_add]
Since commit d1bcae833b32f1 ("ELF: Don't generate unused section
symbols") [1], binutils (v2.36+) started dropping section symbols that
it thought were unused.  This isn't an issue in general, but with
kexec_file.c, gcc is placing kexec_arch_apply_relocations[_add] into a
separate .text.unlikely section and the section symbol ".text.unlikely"
is being dropped. Due to this, recordmcount is unable to find a non-weak
symbol in .text.unlikely to generate a relocation record against.

Address this by dropping the weak attribute from these functions.
Instead, follow the existing pattern of having architectures #define the
name of the function they want to override in their headers.

3a2bfec0b0 ftrace: Remove return value of ftrace_arch_modify_*()
All instances of the function ftrace_arch_modify_prepare() and
  ftrace_arch_modify_post_process() return zero. There's no point in
  checking their return value. Just have them be void functions.

c9bfb460c3 s390/perf: obtain sie_block from the right address
Since commit 1179f170b6 ("s390: fix fpu restore in entry.S"), the
sie_block pointer is located at empty1[1], but in sie_block() it was
taken from empty1[0].

This leads to a random pointer being dereferenced, possibly causing
system crash.

This problem can be observed when running a simple guest with an endless
loop and recording the cpu-clock event:

  sudo perf kvm --guestvmlinux=<guestkernel> --guest top -e cpu-clock

With this fix, the correct guest address is shown.

The argument of scatterwalk_unmap() is supposed to be the void* that was
returned by the previous scatterwalk_map() call.
The s390 AES-GCM implementation was instead passing the pointer to the
struct scatter_walk.

This doesn't actually break anything because scatterwalk_unmap() only uses
its argument under CONFIG_HIGHMEM and ARCH_HAS_FLUSH_ON_KUNMAP.

  modernizing the RNG's crypto and streamlining and documenting its
  code.

  New for 5.19, the updates aim to improve entropy collection methods
  and make some initial decisions regarding the "premature next" problem
  and our threat model. The cloc utility now reports that random.c is
  931 lines of code and 466 lines of comments, not that basic metrics
  like that mean all that much, but at the very least it tells you that
  this is very much a manageable driver now.

  Here's a summary of the various updates:

   - The random_get_entropy() function now always returns something at
     least minimally useful. This is the primary entropy source in most
     collectors, which in the best case expands to something like RDTSC,
     but prior to this change, in the worst case it would just return 0,
     contributing nothing. For 5.19, additional architectures are wired
     up, and architectures that are entirely missing a cycle counter now
     have a generic fallback path, which uses the highest resolution
     clock available from the timekeeping subsystem.

     Some of those clocks can actually be quite good, despite the CPU
     not having a cycle counter of its own, and going off-core for a
     stamp is generally thought to increase jitter, something positive
     from the perspective of entropy gathering. Done very early on in
     the development cycle, this has been sitting in next getting some
     testing for a while now and has relevant acks from the archs, so it
     should be pretty well tested and fine, but is nonetheless the thing
     I'll be keeping my eye on most closely.

   - Of particular note with the random_get_entropy() improvements is
     MIPS, which, on CPUs that lack the c0 count register, will now
     combine the high-speed but short-cycle c0 random register with the
     lower-speed but long-cycle generic fallback path.

   - With random_get_entropy() now always returning something useful,
     the interrupt handler now collects entropy in a consistent
     construction.

   - Rather than comparing two samples of random_get_entropy() for the
     jitter dance, the algorithm now tests many samples, and uses the
     amount of differing ones to determine whether or not jitter entropy
     is usable and how laborious it must be. The problem with comparing
     only two samples was that if the cycle counter was extremely slow,
     but just so happened to be on the cusp of a change, the slowness
     wouldn't be detected. Taking many samples fixes that to some
     degree.

     This, combined with the other improvements to random_get_entropy(),
     should make future unification of /dev/random and /dev/urandom
     maybe more possible. At the very least, were we to attempt it again
     today (we're not), it wouldn't break any of Guenter's test rigs
     that broke when we tried it with 5.18. So, not today, but perhaps
     down the road, that's something we can revisit.

   - We attempt to reseed the RNG immediately upon waking up from system
     suspend or hibernation, making use of the various timestamps about
     suspend time and such available, as well as the usual inputs such
     as RDRAND when available.

   - Batched randomness now falls back to ordinary randomness before the
     RNG is initialized. This provides more consistent guarantees to the
     types of random numbers being returned by the various accessors.

   - The "pre-init injection" code is now gone for good. I suspect you
     in particular will be happy to read that, as I recall you
     expressing your distaste for it a few months ago. Instead, to avoid
     a "premature first" issue, while still allowing for maximal amount
     of entropy availability during system boot, the first 128 bits of
     estimated entropy are used immediately as it arrives, with the next
     128 bits being buffered. And, as before, after the RNG has been
     fully initialized, it winds up reseeding anyway a few seconds later
     in most cases. This resulted in a pretty big simplification of the
     initialization code and let us remove various ad-hoc mechanisms
     like the ugly crng_pre_init_inject().

   - The RNG no longer pretends to handle the "premature next" security
     model, something that various academics and other RNG designs have
     tried to care about in the past. After an interesting mailing list
     thread, these issues are thought to be a) mainly academic and not
     practical at all, and b) actively harming the real security of the
     RNG by delaying new entropy additions after a potential compromise,
     making a potentially bad situation even worse. As well, in the
     first place, our RNG never even properly handled the premature next
     issue, so removing an incomplete solution to a fake problem was
     particularly nice.

     This allowed for numerous other simplifications in the code, which
     is a lot cleaner as a consequence. If you didn't see it before,

   - While the interrupt handler received a separate code path years ago
     that avoids locks by using per-cpu data structures and a faster
     mixing algorithm, in order to reduce interrupt latency, input and
     disk events that are triggered in hardirq handlers were still
     hitting locks and more expensive algorithms. Those are now
     redirected to use the faster per-cpu data structures.

   - Rather than having the fake-crypto almost-siphash-based random32
     implementation be used right and left, and in many places where
     cryptographically secure randomness is desirable, the batched
     entropy code is now fast enough to replace that.

   - As usual, numerous code quality and documentation cleanups. For
     example, the initialization state machine now uses enum symbolic
     constants instead of just hard coding numbers everywhere.

   - Since the RNG initializes once, and then is always initialized
     thereafter, a pretty heavy amount of code used during that
     initialization is never used again. It is now completely cordoned
     off using static branches and it winds up in the .text.unlikely
     section so that it doesn't reduce cache compactness after the RNG
     is ready.

   - A variety of functions meant for waiting on the RNG to be
     initialized were only used by vsprintf, and in not a particularly
     optimal way. Replacing that usage with a more ordinary setup made
     it possible to remove those functions.

   - A cleanup of how we warn userspace about the use of uninitialized
     /dev/urandom and uninitialized get_random_bytes() usage.
     Interestingly, with the change you merged for 5.18 that attempts to
     use jitter (but does not block if it can't), the majority of users
     should never see those warnings for /dev/urandom at all now, and
     the one for in-kernel usage is mainly a debug thing.

   - The file_operations struct for /dev/[u]random now implements
     .read_iter and .write_iter instead of .read and .write, allowing it
     to also implement .splice_read and .splice_write, which makes
     splice(2) work again after it was broken here (and in many other
     places in the tree) during the set_fs() removal. This was a bit of
     a last minute arrival from Jens that hasn't had as much time to
     bake, so I'll be keeping my eye on this as well, but it seems
     fairly ordinary. Unfortunately, read_iter() is around 3% slower
     than read() in my tests, which I'm not thrilled about. But Jens and
     Al, spurred by this observation, seem to be making progress in
     removing the bottlenecks on the iter paths in the VFS layer in
     general, which should remove the performance gap for all drivers.

7b4537199a kbuild: link symbol CRCs at final link, removing CONFIG_MODULE_REL_CRCS
include/{linux,asm-generic}/export.h defines a weak symbol, __crc_*
as a placeholder.

Genksyms writes the version CRCs into the linker script, which will be
used for filling the __crc_* symbols. The linker script format depends
on CONFIG_MODULE_REL_CRCS. If it is enabled, __crc_* holds the offset
to the reference of CRC.

It is time to get rid of this complexity.

Now that modpost parses text files (.*.cmd) to collect all the CRCs,
it can generate C code that will be linked to the vmlinux or modules.

Generate a new C file, .vmlinux.export.c, which contains the CRCs of
symbols exported by vmlinux. It is compiled and linked to vmlinux in
scripts/link-vmlinux.sh.

Put the CRCs of symbols exported by modules into the existing *.mod.c
files. No additional build step is needed for modules. As before,
*.mod.c are compiled and linked to *.ko in scripts/Makefile.modfinal.

No linker magic is used here. The new C implementation works in the
same way, whether CONFIG_RELOCATABLE is enabled or not.
CONFIG_MODULE_REL_CRCS is no longer needed.

Previously, Kbuild invoked additional $(LD) to update the CRCs in
objects, but this step is unneeded too.

All three versions of klp_arch_set_pc() do exactly the same: they
call ftrace_instruction_pointer_set().

Call ftrace_instruction_pointer_set() directly and remove
klp_arch_set_pc().

As klp_arch_set_pc() was the only thing remaining in asm/livepatch.h
on x86 and s390, remove asm/livepatch.h

livepatch.h remains on powerpc but its content is exclusively used
by powerpc specific code.

If user space uses a memop to emulate an instruction and that
memop fails, the execution of the instruction ends.
Instruction execution can end in different ways, one of which is
suppression, which requires that the instruction execute like a no-op.
A writing memop that spans multiple pages and fails due to key
protection may have modified guest memory, as a result, the likely
correct ending is termination. Therefore, do not indicate a
suppressing instruction ending in this case.

This patch adds a new miscdevice to expose some Ultravisor functions
to userspace. Userspace can send IOCTLs to the uvdevice that will then
emit a corresponding Ultravisor Call and hands the result over to
userspace. The uvdevice is available if the Ultravisor Call facility is
present.
Userspace can call the Retrieve Attestation Measurement
Ultravisor Call using IOCTLs on the uvdevice.

The uvdevice will do some sanity checks first.
Then, copy the request data to kernel space, build the UVCB,
perform the UV call, and copy the result back to userspace.

e6ed91fd07 s390/alternatives: remove padding generation code
clang fails to handle ".if" statements in inline assembly which are heavily
used in the alternatives code.

To work around this remove this code, and enforce that users of
alternatives must specify original and alternative instruction sequences
which have identical sizes. Add a compile time check with two ".org"
statements similar to arm64.

In result not only clang can handle this, but also quite a lot of code can
be removed.

presently, migrating a hugetlb page or unmapping a poisoned hugetlb page,
we'll use ptep_clear_flush() and set_pte_at() to nuke the page table entry
and remap it, and this is incorrect for CONT-PTE or CONT-PMD size hugetlb
page, which will cause potential data consistent issue.  This patch set
will change to use hugetlb related APIs to fix this issue.

Note: Mike pointed out the huge_ptep_get() will only return the one
specific value, and it would not take into account the dirty or young bits
of CONT-PTE/PMDs like the huge_ptep_get_and_clear() [1].  This
inconsistent issue is not introduced by this patch set, and this issue
will be addressed in another thread [2].  Meanwhile the uffd for hugetlb
case [3] pointed out by Gerald also needs another patch to address.

Overview
========

Userfaultfd-wp anonymous support was merged two years ago.  There're quite
a few applications that started to leverage this capability either to take
snapshots for user-app memory, or use it for full user controled swapping.

This series tries to complete the feature for uffd-wp so as to cover all
the RAM-based memory types.  So far uffd-wp is the only missing piece of
the rest features (uffd-missing & uffd-minor mode).

One major reason to do so is that anonymous pages are sometimes not
satisfying the need of applications, and there're growing users of either
shmem and hugetlbfs for either sharing purpose (e.g., sharing guest mem
between hypervisor process and device emulation process, shmem local live
migration for upgrades), or for performance on tlb hits.

All these mean that if a uffd-wp app wants to switch to any of the memory
types, it'll stop working.  I think it's worthwhile to have the kernel to
cover all these aspects.

This series chose to protect pages in pte level not page level.

One major reason is safety.  I have no idea how we could make it safe if
any of the uffd-privileged app can wr-protect a page that any other
application can use.  It means this app can block any process potentially
for any time it wants.

The other reason is that it aligns very well with not only the anonymous
uffd-wp solution, but also uffd as a whole.  For example, userfaultfd is
implemented fundamentally based on VMAs.  We set flags to VMAs showing the
status of uffd tracking.  For another per-page based protection solution,
it'll be crossing the fundation line on VMA-based, and it could simply be
too far away already from what's called userfaultfd.

PTE markers
===========

The patchset is based on the idea called PTE markers.  It was discussed in
one of the mm alignment sessions, proposed starting from v6, and this is
the 2nd version of it using PTE marker idea.

PTE marker is a new type of swap entry that is ony applicable to file
backed memories like shmem and hugetlbfs.  It's used to persist some
pte-level information even if the original present ptes in pgtable are
zapped.

Logically pte markers can store more than uffd-wp information, but so far
only one bit is used for uffd-wp purpose.  When the pte marker is
installed with uffd-wp bit set, it means this pte is wr-protected by uffd.

It solves the problem on e.g.  file-backed memory mapped ptes got zapped
due to any reason (e.g.  thp split, or swapped out), we can still keep the
wr-protect information in the ptes.  Then when the page fault triggers
again, we'll know this pte is wr-protected so we can treat the pte the
same as a normal uffd wr-protected pte.

The extra information is encoded into the swap entry, or swp_offset to be
explicit, with the swp_type being PTE_MARKER.  So far uffd-wp only uses
one bit out of the swap entry, the rest bits of swp_offset are still
reserved for other purposes.

There're two configs to enable/disable PTE markers:

  CONFIG_PTE_MARKER
  CONFIG_PTE_MARKER_UFFD_WP

We can set !PTE_MARKER to completely disable all the PTE markers, along
with uffd-wp support.  I made two config so we can also enable PTE marker
but disable uffd-wp file-backed for other purposes.  At the end of current
series, I'll enable CONFIG_PTE_MARKER by default, but that patch is
standalone and if anyone worries about having it by default, we can also
consider turn it off by dropping that oneliner patch.  So far I don't see
a huge risk of doing so, so I kept that patch.

In most cases, PTE markers should be treated as none ptes.  It is because
that unlike most of the other swap entry types, there's no PFN or block
offset information encoded into PTE markers but some extra well-defined
bits showing the status of the pte.  These bits should only be used as
extra data when servicing an upcoming page fault, and then we behave as if
it's a none pte.

I did spend a lot of time observing all the pte_none() users this time. 
It is indeed a challenge because there're a lot, and I hope I didn't miss
a single of them when we should take care of pte markers.  Luckily, I
don't think it'll need to be considered in many cases, for example: boot
code, arch code (especially non-x86), kernel-only page handlings (e.g. 
CPA), or device driver codes when we're tackling with pure PFN mappings.

I introduced pte_none_mostly() in this series when we need to handle pte
markers the same as none pte, the "mostly" is the other way to write
"either none pte or a pte marker".

I didn't replace pte_none() to cover pte markers for below reasons:

  - Very rare case of pte_none() callers will handle pte markers.  E.g., all
    the kernel pages do not require knowledge of pte markers.  So we don't
    pollute the major use cases.

  - Unconditionally change pte_none() semantics could confuse people, because
    pte_none() existed for so long a time.

  - Unconditionally change pte_none() semantics could make pte_none() slower
    even if in many cases pte markers do not exist.

  - There're cases where we'd like to handle pte markers differntly from
    pte_none(), so a full replace is also impossible.  E.g. khugepaged should
    still treat pte markers as normal swap ptes rather than none ptes, because
    pte markers will always need a fault-in to merge the marker with a valid
    pte.  Or the smap code will need to parse PTE markers not none ptes.

This patch (of 23):

Introduces a new swap entry type called PTE_MARKER.  It can be installed
for any pte that maps a file-backed memory when the pte is temporarily
zapped, so as to maintain per-pte information.

The information that kept in the pte is called a "marker".  Here we define
the marker as "unsigned long" just to match pgoff_t, however it will only
work if it still fits in swp_offset(), which is e.g.  currently 58 bits on
x86_64.

A new config CONFIG_PTE_MARKER is introduced too; it's by default off.  A
bunch of helpers are defined altogether to service the rest of the pte
marker code.

349d03ffd5 crypto: s390 - add crypto library interface for ChaCha20
Implement a crypto library interface for the s390-native ChaCha20 cipher
algorithm. This allows us to stop to select CRYPTO_CHACHA20 and instead
select CRYPTO_ARCH_HAVE_LIB_CHACHA. This allows BIG_KEYS=y not to build
a whole ChaCha20 crypto infrastructure as a built-in, but build a smaller
CRYPTO_LIB_CHACHA instead.

Make CRYPTO_CHACHA_S390 config entry to look like similar ones on other
architectures. Remove CRYPTO_ALGAPI select as anyway it is selected by
CRYPTO_SKCIPHER.

Add a new test module and a test script for ChaCha20 cipher and its
interfaces. Here are test results on an idle z15 machine:

f774f5bb87 kbuild: factor out the common installation code into scripts/install.sh
Many architectures have similar install.sh scripts.

The first half is really generic; it verifies that the kernel image
and System.map exist, then executes ~/bin/${INSTALLKERNEL} or
/sbin/${INSTALLKERNEL} if available.

The second half is kind of arch-specific; it copies the kernel image
and System.map to the destination, but the code is slightly different.

Factor out the generic part into scripts/install.sh.

gcc 12 does not (always) optimize away code that should only be generated
if parameters are constant and within in a certain range. This depends on
various obscure kernel config options, however in particular
PROFILE_ALL_BRANCHES can trigger this compile error:

39d62336f5 s390/pai: add support for cryptography counters
PMU device driver perf_pai_crypto supports Processor Activity
Instrumentation (PAI), available with IBM z16:
- maps a full page to lowcore address 0x1500.
- uses CR0 bit 13 to turn PAI crypto counting on and off.
- creates a sample with raw data on each context switch out when
  at context switch some mapped counters have a value of nonzero.
This device driver only supports CPU wide context, no task context
is allowed.

Support for counting:
- one or more counters can be specified using
  perf stat -e pai_crypto/xxx/
  where xxx stands for the counter event name. Multiple invocation
  of this command is possible. The counter names are listed in
  /sys/devices/pai_crypto/events directory.
- one special counters can be specified using
  perf stat -e pai_crypto/CRYPTO_ALL/
  which returns the sum of all incremented crypto counters.
- one event pai_crypto/CRYPTO_ALL/ is reserved for sampling.
  No multiple invocations are possible. The event collects data at
  context switch out and saves them in the ring buffer.

Add qpaci assembly instruction to query supported memory mapped crypto
counters. It returns the number of counters (no holes allowed in that
range).

The PAI crypto counter events are system wide and can not be executed
in parallel. Therefore some restrictions documented in function
paicrypt_busy apply.
In particular event CRYPTO_ALL for sampling must run exclusive.
Only counting events can run in parallel.

PAI crypto counter events can not be created when a CPU hot plug
add is processed. This means a CPU hot plug add does not get
the necessary PAI event to record PAI cryptography counter increments
on the newly added CPU. CPU hot plug remove removes the event and
terminates the counting of PAI counters immediately.

contains valid values when entering the kernel from userspace. s390 needs
a place in the generic entry code to modify a cpu data structure when
switching from userspace to kernel mode. As arch_check_user_regs() is
exactly this, rename it to arch_enter_from_user_mode().

When entering the kernel from userspace, arch_check_user_regs() is
used to verify that struct pt_regs contains valid values. Note that
the NMI codepath doesn't call this function. s390 needs a place in the
generic entry code to modify a cpu data structure when switching from
userspace to kernel mode. As arch_check_user_regs() is exactly this,
rename it to arch_enter_from_user_mode().

5bd2e97c86 fork: Generalize PF_IO_WORKER handling
Add fn and fn_arg members into struct kernel_clone_args and test for
them in copy_thread (instead of testing for PF_KTHREAD | PF_IO_WORKER).
This allows any task that wants to be a user space task that only runs
in kernel mode to use this functionality.

The code on x86 is an exception and still retains a PF_KTHREAD test
because x86 unlikely everything else handles kthreads slightly
differently than user space tasks that start with a function.

The functions that created tasks that start with a function
have been updated to set ".fn" and ".fn_arg" instead of
".stack" and ".stack_size".  These functions are fork_idle(),
create_io_thread(), kernel_thread(), and user_mode_thread().

The kernel task that exec's init and tasks that exec user mode
helpers are also user mode tasks that just run kernel code

Pass kernel_clone_args into copy_thread so these oddball
tasks can be supported more cleanly and easily.

LLVM's integrated assembler reports the following error when compiling
entry.S:

<instantiation>:38:5: error: unknown token in expression
 tm %r8,0x0001 # coming from user space?

The correct instruction would have been tmhh instead of tm.
The current code is doing nothing, since (with gas) it get's
translated to a tm instruction which reads from real address 8, which
again contains always zero, and therefore the conditional code is
never executed.
Note that due to the missing displacement gas translates "%r8" into
"8(%r0)".

Also code inspection reveals that this conditional code is not needed.
Therefore remove it.

The program check handler of the kernel image points to
startup_pgm_check_handler. However an early program check which happens
while loading the kernel image will jump to potentially random code, since
the code of the program check handler is not yet loaded; leading to a
program check loop.

Therefore initialize it to a disabled wait psw and let the startup code set
the proper psw when everything is in memory.

edd4a86673 s390/boot: get rid of startup archive
The final kernel image is created by linking decompressor object files with
a startup archive. The startup archive file however does not contain only
optional code and data which can be discarded if not referenced. It also
contains mandatory object data like head.o which must never be discarded,
even if not referenced.

Move the decompresser code and linker script to the boot directory and get
rid of the startup archive so everything is kept during link time.

a06afe8383 KVM: s390: vsie/gmap: reduce gmap_rmap overhead
there are cases that trigger a 2nd shadow event for the same
vmaddr/raddr combination. (prefix changes, reboots, some known races)
This will increase memory usages and it will result in long latencies
when cleaning up, e.g. on shutdown. To avoid cases with a list that has
hundreds of identical raddrs we check existing entries at insert time.
As this measurably reduces the list length this will be faster than
traversing the list at shutdown time.

In the long run several places will be optimized to create less entries
and a shrinker might be necessary.

b5d1274409 KVM: s390: Fix lockdep issue in vm memop
Issuing a memop on a protected vm does not make sense,
neither is the memory readable/writable, nor does it make sense to check
storage keys. This is why the ioctl will return -EINVAL when it detects
the vm to be protected. However, in order to ensure that the vm cannot
become protected during the memop, the kvm->lock would need to be taken
for the duration of the ioctl. This is also required because
kvm_s390_pv_is_protected asserts that the lock must be held.
Instead, don't try to prevent this. If user space enables secure
execution concurrently with a memop it must accecpt the possibility of
the memop failing.
Still check if the vm is currently protected, but without locking and
consider it a heuristic.

5d8de293c2 vmcore: convert copy_oldmem_page() to take an iov_iter
Patch series "Convert vmcore to use an iov_iter", v5.

For some reason several people have been sending bad patches to fix
compiler warnings in vmcore recently.  Here's how it should be done. 
Compile-tested only on x86.  As noted in the first patch, s390 should take
this conversion a bit further, but I'm not inclined to do that work
myself.


This patch (of 3):

Instead of passing in a 'buf' and 'userbuf' argument, pass in an iov_iter.
s390 needs more work to pass the iov_iter down further, or refactor, but
I'd be more comfortable if someone who can test on s390 did that work.

It's more convenient to convert the whole of read_from_oldmem() to take an
iov_iter at the same time, so rename it to read_from_oldmem_iter() and add
a temporary read_from_oldmem() wrapper that creates an iov_iter.

8b202ee218 s390: disable -Warray-bounds
gcc-12 shows a lot of array bound warnings on s390. This is caused
by the S390_lowcore macro which uses a hardcoded address of 0.

Wrapping that with absolute_pointer() works, but gcc no longer knows
that a 12 bit displacement is sufficient to access lowcore. So it
emits instructions like 'lghi %r1,0; l %rx,xxx(%r1)' instead of a
single load/store instruction. As s390 stores variables often
read/written in lowcore, this is considered problematic. Therefore
disable -Warray-bounds on s390 for gcc-12 for the time being, until
there is a better solution.

uapi: always define F_GETLK64/F_SETLK64/F_SETLKW64 in fcntl.h
The F_GETLK64/F_SETLK64/F_SETLKW64 fcntl opcodes are only implemented
for the 32-bit syscall APIs, but are also needed for compat handling
on 64-bit kernels.

Consolidate them in unistd.h instead of definining the internal compat
definitions in compat.h, which is rather error prone (e.g. parisc
gets the values wrong currently).

Note that before this change they were never visible to userspace due
to the fact that CONFIG_64BIT is only set for kernel builds.

9a07731702 s390: add KCSAN instrumentation to barriers and spinlocks
test_barrier fails on s390 because of the missing KCSAN instrumentation
for several synchronization primitives.

Add it to barriers by defining __mb(), __rmb(), __wmb(), __dma_rmb()
and __dma_wmb(), and letting the common code in asm-generic/barrier.h
do the rest.

Spinlocks require instrumentation only on the unlock path; notify KCSAN
that the CPU cannot move memory accesses outside of the spin lock. In
reality it also cannot move stores inside of it, but this is not
important and can be omitted.

34fb0e7034 s390/pci: add error record for CC 2 retries
Currently it is not detectable from within Linux when PCI instructions
are retried because of a busy condition. Detecting such conditions and
especially how long they lasted can however be quite useful in problem
determination. This patch enables this by adding an s390dbf error log
when a CC 2 is first encountered as well as after the retried
instruction.

Despite being unlikely it may be possible that these added debug
messages drown out important other messages so allow setting the debug
level in zpci_err_insn*() and set their level to 1 so they can be
filtered out if need be.

cde8833e40 s390/pci: add PCI access type and length to error records
Currently when a PCI instruction returns a non-zero condition code it
can be very hard to tell from the s390dbf logs what kind of instruction
was executed. In case of PCI memory I/O (MIO) instructions it is even
impossible to tell if we attempted a load, store or block store or how
large the access was because only the address is logged.

Improve this by adding an indicator byte for the instruction type to the
error record and also store the length of the access for MIO
instructions where this can not be deduced from the request.

We use the following indicator values:
 - 'l': PCI load
 - 's': PCI store
 - 'b': PCI store block
 - 'L': PCI load (MIO)
 - 'S': PCI store (MIO)
 - 'B': PCI store block (MIO)
 - 'M': MPCIFC
 - 'R': RPCIT

723b5a9d2b s390/pci: don't log availability events as errors
Availability events are logged in s390dbf in s390dbf/pci_error/hex_ascii
even though they don't indicate an error condition.

They have also become redundant as commit 6526a597a2 ("s390/pci: add
simpler s390dbf traces for events") added an s390dbf/pci_msg/sprintf log
entry for availability events which contains all non reserved fields of
struct zpci_ccdf_avail. On the other hand the availability entries in
the error log make it easy to miss actual errors and may even overwrite
error entries if the message buffer wraps.

Thus simply remove the availability events from the error log thereby
establishing the rule that any content in s390dbf/pci_error indicates
some kind of error.

52c79e636a s390/pci: make better use of zpci_dbg() levels
While the zpci_dbg() macro offers a level parameter this is currently
largely unused. The only instance with higher importance than 3 is the
UID checking change debug message which is not actually more important
as the UID uniqueness guarantee is already exposed in sysfs so this
should rather be 3 as well.

On the other hand the "add ..." message which shows what devices are
visible at the lowest level is essential during problem determination.
By setting its level to 1, lowering the debug level can act as a filter
to only show the available functions.

On the error side the default level is set to 6 while all existing
messages are printed at level 0. This is inconsistent and means there is
no room for having messages be invisible on the default level so instead
set the default level to 3 like for errors matching the default for
debug messages.

problematic when programs mapped to the top of the address space
are allocating a lot of memory, because the heap will clash with

6acb086d9f s390/zcrypt: cleanup CPRB struct definitions
This patch does a little cleanup on the CPRBX struct
in zcrypt.h and the redundant CPRB struct definition in
zcrypt_msgtype6.c. Especially some of the misleading
fields from the CPRBX struct have been removed.

There is no semantic change coming with this patch.
The field names changed in the XCRB struct are only related
to reserved fields which should never been used.

If the facility IPL-complete-control is present then the last diag308
call made by kexec shall set the end-of-ipl flag in the subcode register
to signal the hypervisor that this is the last diag308 call made by Linux.
Only the diag308 calls made during a regular kexec need to set
the end-of-ipl flag, in all other cases the hypervisor will ignore it.

2031f28768 KVM: Add helpers to wrap vcpu->srcu_idx and yell if it's abused
Add wrappers to acquire/release KVM's SRCU lock when stashing the index
in vcpu->src_idx, along with rudimentary detection of illegal usage,
e.g. re-acquiring SRCU and thus overwriting vcpu->src_idx.  Because the
SRCU index is (currently) either 0 or 1, illegal nesting bugs can go
unnoticed for quite some time and only cause problems when the nested
lock happens to get a different index.

Wrap the WARNs in PROVE_RCU=y, and make them ONCE, otherwise KVM will
likely yell so loudly that it will bring the kernel to its knees.

559089e0a9 vmalloc: replace VM_NO_HUGE_VMAP with VM_ALLOW_HUGE_VMAP
Huge page backed vmalloc memory could benefit performance in many cases.
However, some users of vmalloc may not be ready to handle huge pages for
various reasons: hardware constraints, potential pages split, etc.
VM_NO_HUGE_VMAP was introduced to allow vmalloc users to opt-out huge
pages.  However, it is not easy to track down all the users that require
the opt-out, as the allocation are passed different stacks and may cause
issues in different layers.

To address this issue, replace VM_NO_HUGE_VMAP with an opt-in flag,
VM_ALLOW_HUGE_VMAP, so that users that benefit from huge pages could ask
specificially.

Also, remove vmalloc_no_huge() and add opt-in helper vmalloc_huge().

c6af2aa9ff swiotlb: make the swiotlb_init interface more useful
Pass a boolean flag to indicate if swiotlb needs to be enabled based on
the addressing needs, and replace the verbose argument with a set of
flags, including one to force enable bounce buffering.

Note that this patch removes the possibility to force xen-swiotlb use
with the swiotlb=force parameter on the command line on x86 (arm and
arm64 never supported that), but this interface will be restored shortly.

s390 defines current_stack_pointer as function while all other
architectures use 'register unsigned long asm("<stackptr reg>").

This make codes like the following from check_stack_object() fail:

df06dae3f2 KVM: Don't actually set a request when evicting vCPUs for GFN cache invd
Don't actually set a request bit in vcpu->requests when making a request
purely to force a vCPU to exit the guest.  Logging a request but not
actually consuming it would cause the vCPU to get stuck in an infinite
loop during KVM_RUN because KVM would see the pending request and bail
from VM-Enter to service the request.

Note, it's currently impossible for KVM to set KVM_REQ_GPC_INVALIDATE as
nothing in KVM is wired up to set guest_uses_pa=true.  But, it'd be all
too easy for arch code to introduce use of kvm_gfn_to_pfn_cache_init()
without implementing handling of the request, especially since getting
test coverage of MMU notifier interaction with specific KVM features
usually requires a directed test.

Opportunistically rename gfn_to_pfn_cache_invalidate_start()'s wake_vcpus
to evict_vcpus.  The purpose of the request is to get vCPUs out of guest
mode, it's supposed to _avoid_ waking vCPUs that are blocking.

Opportunistically rename KVM_REQ_GPC_INVALIDATE to be more specific as to
what it wants to accomplish, and to genericize the name so that it can
used for similar but unrelated scenarios, should they arise in the future.
Add a comment and documentation to explain why the "no action" request
exists.

Add compile-time assertions to help detect improper usage.  Use the inner
assertless helper in the one s390 path that makes requests without a
hardcoded request.

This set of changes removes tracehook.h, moves modification of all of
 the ptrace fields inside of siglock to remove races, adds a missing
 permission check to ptrace.c
 
 The removal of tracehook.h is quite significant as it has been a major
 source of confusion in recent years.  Much of that confusion was
 around task_work and TIF_NOTIFY_SIGNAL (which I have now decoupled
 making the semantics clearer).
 
 For people who don't know tracehook.h is a vestiage of an attempt to
 implement uprobes like functionality that was never fully merged, and
 was later superseeded by uprobes when uprobes was merged.  For many
 years now we have been removing what tracehook functionaly a little
 bit at a time.  To the point where now anything left in tracehook.h is
 some weird strange thing that is difficult to understand.

7dcfe50f58 s390/pci: rename get_zdev_by_bus() to zdev_from_bus()
Getting a zpci_dev via get_zdev_by_bus() uses the long lived reference
held in zbus->function[devfn]. This is accounted for in
pcibios_add_device() and pcibios_release_device().

Therefore there is no need to increment the reference count in
get_zdev_by_bus() as is done for get_zdev_by_fid(). Instead callers must
not access the device after pcibios_release_device() was called which is
necessary for common PCI code anyway. With this though the very similar
naming may be misleading so rename get_zdev_by_bus() to zdev_from_bus()
emphasizing that we are directly referencing the zdev via the bus.

c122383d22 s390/pci: improve zpci_dev reference counting
Currently zpci_dev uses kref based reference counting but only accounts
for one original reference plus one reference from an added pci_dev to
its underlying zpci_dev. Counting just the original reference worked
until the pci_dev reference was added in commit 2a671f77ee ("s390/pci:
fix use after free of zpci_dev") because once a zpci_dev goes away, i.e.
enters the reserved state, it would immediately get released. However
with the pci_dev reference this is no longer the case and the zpci_dev
may still appear in multiple availability events indicating that it was
reserved. This was solved by detecting when the zpci_dev is already on
its way out but still hanging around. This has however shown some light
on how unusual our zpci_dev reference counting is.

Improve upon this by modelling zpci_dev reference counting on pci_dev.
Analogous to pci_get_slot() increment the reference count in
get_zdev_by_fid(). Thus all users of get_zdev_by_fid() must drop the
reference once they are done with the zpci_dev.

Similar to pci_scan_single_device(), zpci_create_device() returns the
device with an initial count of 1 and the device added to the zpci_list
(analogous to the PCI bus' device_list). In turn users of
zpci_create_device() must only drop the reference once the device is
gone from the point of view of the zPCI subsystem, it might still be
referenced by the common PCI subsystem though.

dc2ab23b99 s390/smp: cleanup target CPU callback starting
Macro mem_assign_absolute() is used to initialize a target
CPU lowcore callback parameters. But despite the macro name
it writes to the absolute lowcore only if the target CPU is
offline. In case the CPU is online the macro does implicitly
write to the normal memory.

That behaviour is correct, but extremely subtle. Sacrifice
few program bits in favour of clarity and distinguish between
online vs offline CPUs and normal vs absolute lowcore pointer.

708b137639 s390/unwind: avoid duplicated unwinding entries for kretprobes
Currently when unwinding starts from pt_regs or encounters pt_regs along
the way unwinder tries to yield 2 unwinding entries:
1. (reliable)     ip1: pt_regs->psw.addr,  sp1: regs->gprs[15]
2. (non-reliable) ip2: sp1->gprs[8] (r14), sp2: regs->gprs[15]

In case of kretprobes those are identical and serves no other purpose
than causing confusion over duplicated entries and cause kprobes tests
to fail. So, skip a duplicate non-reliable entry in this case.

With that kretprobes and unwinder implementation now comply with
ARCH_CORRECT_STACKTRACE_ON_KRETPROBE.

63840de296 kasan, x86, arm64, s390: rename functions for modules shadow
Rename kasan_free_shadow to kasan_free_module_shadow and
kasan_module_alloc to kasan_alloc_module_shadow.

These functions are used to allocate/free shadow memory for kernel modules
when KASAN_VMALLOC is not enabled.  The new names better reflect their
purpose.

Also reword the comment next to their declaration to improve clarity.

There are three sets of updates for 5.18 in the asm-generic tree:
 
  - The set_fs()/get_fs() infrastructure gets removed for good. This

2848a28b0a drivers/base/node: consolidate node device subsystem initialization in node_dev_init()
...  and call node_dev_init() after memory_dev_init() from driver_init(),
so before any of the existing arch/subsys calls.  All online nodes should
be known at that point: early during boot, arch code determines node and
zone ranges and sets the relevant nodes online; usually this happens in
setup_arch().

This is in line with memory_dev_init(), which initializes the memory
device subsystem and creates all memory block devices.

Similar to memory_dev_init(), panic() if anything goes wrong, we don't
want to continue with such basic initialization errors.

The important part is that node_dev_init() gets called after
memory_dev_init() and after cpu_dev_init(), but before any of the relevant
archs call register_cpu() to register the new cpu device under the node
device.  The latter should be the case for the current users of
topology_init().

c0573ba5c5 KVM: s390x: fix SCK locking
When handling the SCK instruction, the kvm lock is taken, even though
the vcpu lock is already being held. The normal locking order is kvm
lock first and then vcpu lock. This is can (and in some circumstances
does) lead to deadlocks.

The function kvm_s390_set_tod_clock is called both by the SCK handler
and by some IOCTLs to set the clock. The IOCTLs will not hold the vcpu
lock, so they can safely take the kvm lock. The SCK handler holds the
vcpu lock, but will also somehow need to acquire the kvm lock without
relinquishing the vcpu lock.

The solution is to factor out the code to set the clock, and provide
two wrappers. One is called like the original function and does the
locking, the other is called kvm_s390_try_set_tod_clock and uses
trylock to try to acquire the kvm lock. This new wrapper is then used
in the SCK handler. If locking fails, -EAGAIN is returned, which is
eventually propagated to userspace, thus also freeing the vcpu lock and
allowing for forward progress.

This is not the most efficient or elegant way to solve this issue, but
the SCK instruction is deprecated and its performance is not critical.

The goal of this patch is just to provide a simple but correct way to
fix the bug.

355f841a3f tracehook: Remove tracehook.h
Now that all of the definitions have moved out of tracehook.h into
ptrace.h, sched/signal.h, resume_user_mode.h there is nothing left in
tracehook.h so remove it.

Update the few files that were depending upon tracehook.h to bring in
definitions to use the headers they need directly.

8ba62d3794 task_work: Call tracehook_notify_signal from get_signal on all architectures
Always handle TIF_NOTIFY_SIGNAL in get_signal.  With commit 35d0b389f3
("task_work: unconditionally run task_work from get_signal()") always
calling task_work_run all of the work of tracehook_notify_signal is
already happening except clearing TIF_NOTIFY_SIGNAL.

Factor clear_notify_signal out of tracehook_notify_signal and use it in
get_signal so that get_signal only needs one call of task_work_run.

To keep the semantics in sync update xfer_to_guest_mode_work (which
does not call get_signal) to call tracehook_notify_signal if either
_TIF_SIGPENDING or _TIF_NOTIFY_SIGNAL.

63bf38ff5b s390/kprobes: Avoid additional kprobe in kretprobe handling
So far, s390 registered a krobe on __kretprobe_trampoline which is
called everytime a kretprobe fires. This kprobe would then determine
the correct return address and adjust the psw accordingly, such that
the kretprobe would branch to the appropriate address after completion.

Some other archs handle kretprobes without such an additional kprobe.
This approach is adopted to s390 with this patch.
Furthermore, the __kretprobe_trampoline now uses an assembler function
to correctly gather the register and psw content to be passed to the
registered kretprobe handler as struct pt_regs. After completion, the
register content and the psw are set based on the contents of said
pt_regs struct.
Note that a change to the psw address in struct pt_regs will not have
an impact, as the probe will still return to the original return
address of the probed function.
The return address is now recovered by using the appropriate function
arch_kretprobe_fixup_return.

The no longer needed kprobe is removed.

731efc9613 s390: convert ".insn" encoding to instruction names
With z10 as minimum supported machine generation many ".insn" encodings
could be now converted to instruction names. There are couple of exceptions
- stfle is used from the als code built for z900 and cannot be converted
- few ".insn" directives encode unsupported instruction formats

The generated code is identical before/after this change.

4efd417f29 s390: raise minimum supported machine generation to z10
Machine generations up to z9 (released in May 2006) have been officially
out of service for several years now (z9 end of service - January 31, 2019).
No distributions build kernels supporting those old machine generations
anymore, except Debian, which seems to pick the oldest supported
generation. The team supporting Debian on s390 has been notified about
the change.

Raising minimum supported machine generation to z10 helps to reduce
maintenance cost and effectively remove code, which is not getting
enough testing coverage due to lack of older hardware and distributions
support. Besides that this unblocks some optimization opportunities and
allows to use wider instruction set in asm files for future features
implementation. Due to this change spectre mitigation and usercopy
implementations could be drastically simplified and many newer instructions
could be converted from ".insn" encoding to instruction names.

Add copy_from/to_user_key functions, which perform storage key checking.
These functions can be used by KVM for emulating instructions that need
to be key checked.
These functions differ from their non _key counterparts in
include/linux/uaccess.h only in the additional key argument and must be
kept in sync with those.

Since the existing uaccess implementation on s390 makes use of move
instructions that support having an additional access key supplied,
we can implement raw_copy_from/to_user_key by enhancing the
existing implementation.

1d2ad08480 s390/nospec: add an option to use thunk-extern
Currently with -mindirect-branch=thunk and -mfunction-return=thunk compiler
options expoline thunks are put into individual COMDAT group sections. s390
is the only architecture which has group sections and it has implications
for kpatch and objtool tools support.

Using -mindirect-branch=thunk-extern and -mfunction-return=thunk-extern
is an alternative, which comes with a need to generate all required
expoline thunks manually. Unfortunately modules area is too far away from
the kernel image, and expolines from the kernel image cannon be used.
But since all new distributions (except Debian) build kernels for machine
generations newer than z10, where "exrl" instruction is available, that
leaves only 16 expolines thunks possible.

Provide an option to build the kernel with
-mindirect-branch=thunk-extern and -mfunction-return=thunk-extern for
z10 or newer. This also requires to postlink expoline thunks into all
modules explicitly. Currently modules already contain most expolines
anyhow.

Unfortunately -mindirect-branch=thunk-extern and
-mfunction-return=thunk-extern options support is broken in gcc <= 11.2.
Additional compile test is required to verify proper gcc support.

and no additional register is utilized.

Generate __s390_indirect_jump_rX versions using a single register if the
kernel is built for z10 or newer machine, which have exrl instruction
available. Thunks generated are identical to the ones generated by the
compiler.

This helps to reduce the number of thunks for newer machines generations.

6c2797cd51 s390/pci: make zpci_set_irq()/zpci_clear_irq() static
Commit c1e18c17bd ("s390/pci: add zpci_set_irq()/zpci_clear_irq()")
made zpci_set_irq()/zpci_clear_irq() non-static in preparation for using
them in zpci_hot_reset_device(). The version of zpci_hot_reset_device()
that was finally merged however exploits the fact that IRQs and DMA is
implicitly disabled by clp_disable_fh() so the call to zpci_clear_irq()
was never added. There are no other calls outside pci_irq.c so lets make
both functions static.

2268169c14 s390: remove unused expoline to BC instructions
This reverts commit 6deaa3bbca ("s390: extend expoline to BC
instructions"). Expolines to BC instructions were added to be utilized
by commit de5cb6eb51 ("s390: use expoline thunks in the BPF JIT"). But
corresponding code has been removed by commit e1cf4befa2 ("bpf, s390x:
remove ld_abs/ld_ind"). And compiler does not generate such expolines as
well.

Compared to regular expolines, expolines to BC instructions contain
displacement and all possible variations cannot be generated in advance,
making kpatch support more complicated. So, remove those to avoid
future usages.
