4ec8f9e9b0 MIPS: BMIPS: Fix ".previous without corresponding .section" warnings
Commit 078a55fc82 ("Delete __cpuinit/__CPUINIT usage from MIPS code")
removed our __CPUINIT directives, so now the ".previous" directives
are superfluous.  Remove them.

83fd43449b MIPS: r4kcache: Add EVA case for protected_writeback_dcache_line
Commit de8974e3f7 ("MIPS: asm: r4kcache: Add EVA cache flushing
functions") added cache function for EVA using the cachee instruction.
However, it didn't add a case for the protected_writeback_dcache_line.
mips_dsemul() calls r4k_flush_cache_sigtramp() which in turn uses
the protected_writeback_dcache_line() to flush the trampoline code
back to memory. This used the wrong "cache" instruction leading to
random userland crashes on non-FPU cores.

82975bc6a6 uprobes, x86: Fix _TIF_UPROBE vs _TIF_NOTIFY_RESUME
x86 call do_notify_resume on paranoid returns if TIF_UPROBE is set but
not on non-paranoid returns.  I suspect that this is a mistake and that
the code only works because int3 is paranoid.

Setting _TIF_NOTIFY_RESUME in the uprobe code was probably a workaround
for the x86 bug.  With that bug fixed, we can remove _TIF_NOTIFY_RESUME
from the uprobes code.

b645af2d59 x86_64, traps: Rework bad_iret
It's possible for iretq to userspace to fail.  This can happen because
of a bad CS, SS, or RIP.

Historically, we've handled it by fixing up an exception from iretq to
land at bad_iret, which pretends that the failed iret frame was really
the hardware part of #GP(0) from userspace.  To make this work, there's
an extra fixup to fudge the gs base into a usable state.

This is suboptimal because it loses the original exception.  It's also
buggy because there's no guarantee that we were on the kernel stack to
begin with.  For example, if the failing iret happened on return from an
NMI, then we'll end up executing general_protection on the NMI stack.
This is bad for several reasons, the most immediate of which is that
general_protection, as a non-paranoid idtentry, will try to deliver
signals and/or schedule from the wrong stack.

This patch throws out bad_iret entirely.  As a replacement, it augments
the existing swapgs fudge into a full-blown iret fixup, mostly written
in C.  It's should be clearer and more correct.

6f442be2fb x86_64, traps: Stop using IST for #SS
On a 32-bit kernel, this has no effect, since there are no IST stacks.

On a 64-bit kernel, #SS can only happen in user code, on a failed iret
to user space, a canonical violation on access via RSP or RBP, or a
genuine stack segment violation in 32-bit kernel code.  The first two
cases don't need IST, and the latter two cases are unlikely fatal bugs,
and promoting them to double faults would be fine.

This fixes a bug in which the espfix64 code mishandles a stack segment
violation.

This saves 4k of memory per CPU and a tiny bit of code.

af726f21ed x86_64, traps: Fix the espfix64 #DF fixup and rewrite it in C
There's nothing special enough about the espfix64 double fault fixup to
justify writing it in assembly.  Move it to C.

This also fixes a bug: if the double fault came from an IST stack, the
old asm code would return to a partially uninitialized stack frame.

commit e6023367d7 'x86, kaslr: Prevent .bss from overlaping initrd'
broke the cross compile of x86. It added a objdump invocation, which
invokes the host native objdump and ignores an active cross tool
chain.

Use $(OBJDUMP) instead which takes the CROSS_COMPILE prefix into
account.

Invert the route between the microphone and the bias in order to fix it.

While at it, align the audio routing with imx6sl-evk and imx6sx-sdb, which have
the same wm8962 circuitry.

08ae964646 ARM: imx: clean up machine mxc_arch_reset_init_dt reset init
System restart mechanism has been changed with the introduction
of "kernel restart handler call chain support". The imx2 watchdog
based restart handler has been moved to the driver, and these
restart can be removed from the machine layer.

This patch cleans up the device tree version machine reset init with
mxc_arch_reset_init_dt and removes corresponding .restart handler,
for the .init_machine that can be handled by system default after
removing the mxc_arch_reset_init_dt, the .init_machine is also removed.

5341110fc9 ARM: at91: remove at91rm9200 legacy board support
Second part of at91rm9200 legacy !DT removal. This is the core !DT support
removal for this Atmel SoC.
Note that from now on, the Kconfig.non_dt file and its specialized options are
completely removed.
Use the Device Tree for running this board with newer kernels.

ef59a20ba3 ARM: 8216/1: xscale: correct auxiliary register in suspend/resume
According to the manuals I have, XScale auxiliary register should be
reached with opc_2 = 1 instead of crn = 1. cpu_xscale_proc_init
correctly uses c1, c0, 1 arguments, but cpu_xscale_do_suspend and
cpu_xscale_do_resume use c1, c1, 0. Correct suspend/resume functions to
also use c1, c0, 1.

The issue was primarily noticed thanks to qemu reporing "unsupported
instruction" on the pxa suspend path. Confirmed in PXA210/250 and PXA255
XScale Core manuals and in PXA270 and PXA320 Developers Guides.

Harware tested by me on tosa (pxa255). Robert confirmed on pxa270 board.

7f73f7aef8 arm64: mm: report unhandled level-0 translation faults correctly
Translation faults that occur due to the input address being outside
of the address range mapped by the relevant base register are reported
as level 0 faults in ESR.DFSC.

If the faulting access cannot be resolved by the kernel (e.g. because
it is not mapped by a vma), then we report "input address range fault"
on the console. This was fine until we added support for 48-bit VAs,
which actually place PGDs at level 0 and can trigger faults for invalid
addresses that are within the range of the page tables.

This patch changes the string to report "level 0 translation fault",
which is far less confusing.

The CP15 barrier instructions (CP15ISB, CP15DSB and CP15DMB) are
deprecated in the ARMv7 architecture, superseded by ISB, DSB and DMB
instructions respectively. Some implementations may provide the
ability to disable the CP15 barriers by disabling the CP15BEN bit in
SCTLR_EL1. If not enabled, the encodings for these instructions become
undefined.

To support legacy software using these instructions, this patch
register hooks to -

* toggle CP15BEN in SCTLR_EL1

bd35a4adc4 arm64: Port SWP/SWPB emulation support from arm
The SWP instruction was deprecated in the ARMv6 architecture. The
ARMv7 multiprocessing extensions mandate that SWP/SWPB instructions
are treated as undefined from reset, with the ability to enable them
through the System Control Register SW bit. With ARMv8, the option to
enable these instructions through System Control Register was dropped
as well.

To support legacy applications using these instructions, port the
emulation of the SWP and SWPB instructions from the arm port to arm64.

587064b610 arm64: Add framework for legacy instruction emulation
Typically, providing support for legacy instructions requires
emulating the behaviour of instructions whose encodings have become
undefined. If the instructions haven't been removed from the
architecture, there maybe an option in the implementation to turn
on/off the support for these instructions.

Create common infrastructure to support legacy instruction
emulation. In addition to emulation, also provide an option to support
hardware execution when supported. The default execution mode (one of
undef, emulate, hw exeuction) is dependent on the state of the
instruction (deprecated or obsolete) in the architecture and
can specified at the time of registering the instruction handlers. The
runtime state of the emulation can be controlled by writing to
individual nodes in sysctl. The expected default behaviour is
documented as part of this patch.

f97fc81079 arm64: percpu: Implement this_cpu operations
The generic this_cpu operations disable interrupts to ensure that the
requested operation is protected from pre-emption. For arm64, this is
overkill and can hurt throughput and latency.

This patch provides arm64 specific implementations for the this_cpu
operations. Rather than disable interrupts, we use the exclusive
monitor or atomic operations as appropriate.

The following operations are implemented: add, add_return, and, or,
read, write, xchg. We also wire up a cmpxchg implementation from
cmpxchg.h.

Testing was performed using the percpu_test module and hackbench on a
Juno board running 3.18-rc4.

15670ef1ea arm64: pgalloc: consistently use PGALLOC_GFP
We currently allocate different levels of page tables with a variety of
differing flags, and the PGALLOC_GFP flags, intended for use when
allocating any level of page table, are only used for ptes in
pte_alloc_one. On x86, PGALLOC_GFP is used for all page table
allocations.

Currently the major differences are:

* __GFP_NOTRACK -- Needed to ensure page tables are always accessible in
  the presence of kmemcheck to prevent recursive faults. Currently
  kmemcheck cannot be selected for arm64.

* __GFP_REPEAT -- Causes the allocator to try to reclaim pages and retry
  upon a failure to allocate.

* __GFP_ZERO -- Sometimes passed explicitly, sometimes zalloc variants
  are used.

While we've no encountered issues so far, it would be preferable to be
consistent. This patch ensures all levels of table are allocated in the
same manner, with PGALLOC_GFP.

Don't disable irqs when waiting for the ST DMA "lock"; its release may
require an interrupt.

Introduce stdma_try_lock() for use in soft irq context. atari_scsi now tells
the SCSI mid-layer to defer queueing a command if the ST DMA lock is not
available, as per Michael's patch:

The falcon_got_lock variable is race prone: we can't disable IRQs while
waiting to acquire the lock, so after acquiring it there must be some
interval during which falcon_got_lock remains false. Introduce
stdma_is_locked_by() to replace falcon_got_lock.

The falcon_got_lock tests in the EH handlers are incorrect these days. It
can happen that an EH handler is called after a command completes normally.
Remove these checks along with falcon_got_lock.

Also remove the complicated and racy fairness wait queues. If fairness is an
issue (when SCSI competes with IDE for the ST DMA interrupt), the solution
is likely to be a lower value for host->can_queue.

440ae45119 ARM: at91: remove useless init_time for DT-only SoCs
Commits bcf8c7e770 and
4bf7753b8a introduced compilation errors
("error: 'NR_IRQS_LEGACY' undeclared (first use in this function)") because
they remove the asm/irq.h inclusion while the init_time function needs it
for the NR_IRQS_LEGACY definition.

In the other hand, the point of these commits is to remove board file
support, and init_time is only needed when booting non-DT boards, we can
thus safely remove init_time functions.

49e41938f8 ARM: multi_v7_defconfig: fix failure setting CPU voltage by enabling dependent I2C controller
This patch fixes a long standing issue introduced during the 3.16 merge window.
Shortly after the merge, exynos5250-based arndale boards began to produce the
following errors:

kern.err kernel:  exynos-cpufreq exynos-cpufreq: failed to set cpu voltage
kern.err kernel:  cpufreq: __target_index: Failed to change cpu frequency: -22

Further analysis revealed that the S5M8767 voltage regulator used on the
exynos5250-based arndale board utilizes the S3C2410 I2C controller. If the
S3C2410 I2C controller driver is not enabled, the S5M8767 voltage regulator
fails to probe. Therefore a dependency exists between these two drivers.
In the exynos_defconfig both CONFIG_REGULATOR_S5M8767 and CONFIG_I2C_S3C2410
options are enabled, and no errors are produced. However, in the
multi_v7_defconfig only the CONFIG_REGULATOR_S5M8767 option is enabled and the
errors are present. So let's enable the CONFIG_I2C_S3C2410 option in the
multi_v7_defconfig to allow the S5M8767 voltage regulator to probe.

935c2dbec4 MIPS: jump_label.c: Handle the microMIPS J instruction encoding
Implement the microMIPS encoding of the J instruction for the purpose of
the static keys feature, fixing a crash early on in bootstrap as the
kernel is unhappy seeing the ISA bit set in jump table entries.  Make
sure the ISA bit correctly reflects the instruction encoding chosen for
the kernel, 0 for the standard MIPS and 1 for the microMIPS encoding.

Also make sure the instruction to patch is a 32-bit NOP in the microMIPS
mode as by default the 16-bit short encoding is assumed

Correct the check for the span of the 256MB segment addressable by the J
instruction according to this instruction's semantics.  The calculation
of the jump target is applied to the address of the delay-slot

adding 4 to `e->code' that holds the address of the J instruction
itself.

51b1029d99 MIPS: lib: memcpy: Restore NOP on delay slot before returning to caller
Commit cf62a8b813 ("MIPS: lib: memcpy: Use macro to build the
copy_user code") switched to a macro in order to build the memcpy
symbols in preparation for the EVA support. However, this commit
also removed the NOP instruction after the 'jr ra' when returning
back to the caller. This had no visible side-effects since the next
instruction was a load to the t0 register which was already in the
clobbered list, but it may have undesired effects in the future
if some other code is introduced in between the .Ldone and
the .Ll_exc_copy labels.

58563817cf MIPS: asm: uaccess: Add v1 register to clobber list on EVA
When EVA is turned on and prefetching is being used in memcpy.S,
the v1 register is being used as a helper register to the PREFE
instruction. However, v1 ($3) was not in the clobber list, which
means that the compiler did not preserve it across function calls,
and that could corrupt the value of the register leading to all
sorts of userland crashes. We fix this problem by using the
DADDI_SCRATCH macro to define the clobbered register when
CONFIG_EVA && CONFIG_CPU_HAS_PREFETCH are enabled.

In the situation when we apply early microcode but do *not* apply late
microcode, we fail to update the BSP's microcode on resume because we
haven't initialized the uci->mc microcode pointer. So, in order to
alleviate that, we go and dig out the stashed microcode patch during
early boot. It is basically the same thing that is done on the APs early
during boot so do that too here.

Since commit 8a0a9bd4db ('random: make get_random_int() more
random'), get_random_int() returns a random value for each call,
so comment and hack introduced in mmap_rnd() as part of commit
1d18c47c73 ('arm64: MMU fault handling and page table management')
are incorrects.

Commit 1d18c47c73 seems to use the same hack introduced by
commit a5adc91a4b ('powerpc: Ensure random space between stack
and mmaps'), latter copied in commit 5a0efea09f ('sparc64: Sharpen
address space randomization calculations.').

But both architectures were cleaned up as part of commit
fa8cbaaf5a ('powerpc+sparc64/mm: Remove hack in mmap randomize
layout') as hack is no more needed since commit 8a0a9bd4db.

So the present patch removes the comment and the hack around
get_random_int() on AArch64's mmap_rnd().

chained to normal") changes the msi cascade handler from chained to
normal. Since cascade handler must run in hard interrupt context, this

since common cpu reset handler is setting r6 before branching to tegra_resume(),
but neither tegra20_lp1_reset() nor tegra30_lp1_reset() aren't setting r6
register before jumping to resume function. Fix it by re-adding macro.

fb7332a9fe mmu_gather: move minimal range calculations into generic code
On architectures with hardware broadcasting of TLB invalidation messages
, it makes sense to reduce the range of the mmu_gather structure when
unmapping page ranges based on the dirty address information passed to
tlb_remove_tlb_entry.

arm64 already does this by directly manipulating the start/end fields
of the gather structure, but this confuses the generic code which
does not expect these fields to change and can end up calculating
invalid, negative ranges when forcing a flush in zap_pte_range.

This patch moves the minimal range calculation out of the arm64 code
and into the generic implementation, simplifying zap_pte_range in the
process (which no longer needs to care about start/end, since they will
point to the appropriate ranges already). With the range being tracked
by core code, the need_flush flag is dropped in favour of checking that
the end of the range has actually been set.

Al Viro pointed out that the x86-64 csum_partial_copy_from_user() is
somewhat confused about what it should do on errors, notably it mostly
clears the uncopied end result buffer, but misses that for the initial
alignment case.

All users should check for errors, so it's dubious whether the clearing
is even necessary, and Al also points out that we should probably clean
up the calling conventions, but regardless of any future changes to this
function, the fact that it is inconsistent is just annoying.

So make the __get_user() failure path use the same error exit as all the
other errors do.

2cd3949f70 x86: Require exact match for 'noxsave' command line option
We have some very similarly named command-line options:

arch/x86/kernel/cpu/common.c:__setup("noxsaveopt", x86_xsaveopt_setup);
arch/x86/kernel/cpu/common.c:__setup("noxsaves", x86_xsaves_setup);

__setup() is designed to match options that take arguments, like
"foo=bar" where you would have:

	__setup("foo", x86_foo_func...);

The problem is that "noxsave" actually _matches_ "noxsaves" in
the same way that "foo" matches "foo=bar".  If you boot an old
kernel that does not know about "noxsaves" with "noxsaves" on the
command line, it will interpret the argument as "noxsave", which
is not what you want at all.

This makes the "noxsave" handler only return success when it finds
an *exact* match.

68055915c1 perf/x86/intel/uncore: Fix boot crash on SBOX PMU on Haswell-EP
There were several reports that on some systems writing the SBOX0 PMU
initialization MSR would #GP at boot. This did not happen on all
systems -- my two test systems booted fine.

Writing the three initialization bits bit-by-bit seems to avoid the
problem. So add a special callback to do just that.

This replaces an earlier patch that disabled the SBOX.

The push/pop instructions can be suboptimal when saving/restoring large
amounts of data to/from the stack, for example on entry/exit from the
kernel. This is because:

  (1) They act on descending addresses (i.e. the newly decremented sp),
      which may defeat some hardware prefetchers

  (2) They introduce an implicit dependency between each instruction, as
      the sp has to be updated in order to resolve the address of the
      next access.

This patch removes the push/pop instructions from our kernel entry/exit
macros in favour of ldp/stp plus offset.

Commit d7a49086f2 (arm64: cpuinfo: print info for all CPUs)
attempted to clean up /proc/cpuinfo, but due to concerns regarding
further changes was reverted in commit 5e39977edf (Revert "arm64:
cpuinfo: print info for all CPUs").

There are two major issues with the arm64 /proc/cpuinfo format
currently:

* The "Features" line describes (only) the 64-bit hwcaps, which is
  problematic for some 32-bit applications which attempt to parse it. As
  the same names are used for analogous ISA features (e.g. aes) despite
  these generally being architecturally unrelated, it is not possible to
  simply append the 64-bit and 32-bit hwcaps in a manner that might not
  be misleading to some applications.

  Various potential solutions have appeared in vendor kernels. Typically
  the format of the Features line varies depending on whether the task
  is 32-bit.

* Information is only printed regarding a single CPU. This does not
  match the ARM format, and does not provide sufficient information in
  big.LITTLE systems where CPUs are heterogeneous. The CPU information
  printed is queried from the current CPU's registers, which is racy
  w.r.t. cross-cpu migration.

This patch attempts to solve these issues. The following changes are
made:

* When a task with a LINUX32 personality attempts to read /proc/cpuinfo,
  the "Features" line contains the decoded 32-bit hwcaps, as with the
  arm port. Otherwise, the decoded 64-bit hwcaps are shown. This aligns
  with the behaviour of COMPAT_UTS_MACHINE and COMPAT_ELF_PLATFORM. In
  the absense of compat support, the Features line is empty.

  The set of hwcaps injected into a task's auxval are unaffected.

* Properties are printed per-cpu, as with the ARM port. The per-cpu
  information is queried from pre-recorded cpu information (as used by
  the sanity checks).

* As with the previous attempt at fixing up /proc/cpuinfo, the hardware
  field is removed. The only users so far are 32-bit applications tied
  to particular boards, so no portable applications should be affected,
  and this should prevent future tying to particular boards.

The following differences remain:

* No model_name is printed, as this cannot be queried from the hardware
  and cannot be provided in a stable fashion. Use of the CPU
  {implementor,variant,part,revision} fields is sufficient to identify a
  CPU and is portable across arm and arm64.

* The following system-wide properties are not provided, as they are not
  possible to provide generally. Programs relying on these are already
  tied to particular (32-bit only) boards:
  - Hardware
  - Revision
  - Serial

No software has yet been identified for which these remaining
differences are problematic.

As best I can tell this issue existed for the set_tls ARM syscall
before commit fbfb872f5f "ARM: 8148/1: flush TLS and thumbee
register state during exec" consolidated the TLS manipulation code
into the set_tls helper function, but now that we're using it to flush
register state during execve, !MMU users encounter the oops at the
first exec.

Prevent CONFIG_MMU=n configurations from enabling
CONFIG_KUSER_HELPERS.

238962ac71 ARM: 8191/1: decompressor: ensure I-side picks up relocated code
To speed up decompression, the decompressor sets up a flat, cacheable
mapping of memory. However, when there is insufficient space to hold
the page tables for this mapping, we don't bother to enable the caches
and subsequently skip all the cache maintenance hooks.

Skipping the cache maintenance before jumping to the relocated code
allows the processor to predict the branch and populate the I-cache
with stale data before the relocation loop has completed (since a
bootloader may have SCTLR.I set, which permits normal, cacheable
instruction fetches regardless of SCTLR.M).

This patch moves the cache maintenance check into the maintenance
routines themselves, allowing the v6/v7 versions to invalidate the
I-cache regardless of the MMU state.

c4574aa00e ARM: dts: tegra: move serial aliases to per-board
There are general changes pending to make the /aliases/serial* entries
number the serial ports on the system. On Tegra, so far the ports have
been just numbered dynamically as they are configured so that makes them
change.

To avoid this, add specific aliases per board to keep the old numbers.
This allows us to change the numbering by default on future SoCs while
keeping the numbering on existing boards.

899d5933b2 Correct the race condition in aarch64_insn_patch_text_sync()
When experimenting with patches to provide kprobes support for aarch64
smp machines would hang when inserting breakpoints into kernel code.
The hangs were caused by a race condition in the code called by
aarch64_insn_patch_text_sync().  The first processor in the
aarch64_insn_patch_text_cb() function would patch the code while other
processors were still entering the function and incrementing the
cpu_count field.  This resulted in some processors never observing the
exit condition and exiting the function.  Thus, processors in the
system hung.

The first processor to enter the patching function performs the
patching and signals that the patching is complete with an increment
of the cpu_count field. When all the processors have incremented the
cpu_count field the cpu_count will be num_cpus_online()+1 and they
will return to normal execution.

97fc15436b arm64: __clear_user: handle exceptions on strb
ARM64 currently doesn't fix up faults on the single-byte (strb) case of
__clear_user... which means that we can cause a nasty kernel panic as an
ordinary user with any multiple PAGE_SIZE+1 read from /dev/zero.
i.e.: dd if=/dev/zero of=foo ibs=1 count=1 (or ibs=65537, etc.)

This is a pretty obscure bug in the general case since we'll only
__do_kernel_fault (since there's no extable entry for pc) if the
mmap_sem is contended. However, with CONFIG_DEBUG_VM enabled, we'll
always fault.

9b0b26580a arm64: efi: Fix stub cache maintenance
While efi-entry.S mentions that efi_entry() will have relocated the
kernel image, it actually means that efi_entry will have placed a copy
of the kernel in the appropriate location, and until this is branched to
at the end of efi_entry.S, all instructions are executed from the
original image.

Thus while the flush in efi_entry.S does ensure that the copy is visible
to noncacheable accesses, it does not guarantee that this is true for
the image instructions are being executed from. This could have
disasterous effects when the MMU and caches are disabled if the image
has not been naturally evicted to the PoC.

Additionally, due to a missing dsb following the ic ialluis, the new
kernel image is not necessarily clean in the I-cache when it is branched
to, with similar potentially disasterous effects.

This patch adds additional flushing to ensure that the currently
executing stub text is flushed to the PoC and is thus visible to
noncacheable accesses. As it is placed after the instructions cache
maintenance for the new image and __flush_dcache_area already contains a
dsb, we do not need to add a separate barrier to ensure completion of
the icache maintenance.

Comments are updated to clarify the situation with regard to the two
images and the maintenance required for both.

2fe749f50b parisc: Use compat layer for msgctl, shmat, shmctl and semtimedop syscalls
Switch over the msgctl, shmat, shmctl and semtimedop syscalls to use the compat
layer. The problem was found with the debian procenv package, which called
	shmctl(0, SHM_INFO, &info);
in which the shmctl syscall then overwrote parts of the surrounding areas on
the stack on which the info variable was stored and thus lead to a segfault
later on.

Additionally fix the definition of struct shminfo64 to use unsigned longs like
the other architectures. This has no impact on userspace since we only have a
32bit userspace up to now.

54279552bd x86/core, x86/xen/smp: Use 'die_complete' completion when taking CPU down
Commit 2ed53c0d6c ("x86/smpboot: Speed up suspend/resume by
avoiding 100ms sleep for CPU offline during S3") introduced
completions to CPU offlining process. These completions are not
initialized on Xen kernels causing a panic in
play_dead_common().

Move handling of die_complete into common routines to make them
available to Xen guests.

The Parallella board comes with a U-Boot bootloader that loads one of
two predefined FPGA bitstreams before booting the kernel. Both define an
AXI interface to the on-board Epiphany processor.

Enable clocks FCLK0..FCLK3 for the Programmable Logic by default.

Otherwise accessing, e.g., the ESYSRESET register freezes the board,
as seen with the Epiphany SDK tools e-reset and e-hw-rev, using /dev/mem.

Starting with version 2.24.51.20140728 MIPS binutils complain loudly
about mixing soft-float and hard-float object files, leading to this
build failure since GCC is invoked with "-msoft-float" on MIPS:

To fix this, we detect if GAS is new enough to support "-msoft-float" command
option, and if it does, we can let GCC pass it to GAS;  but then we also need
to sprinkle the files which make use of floating point registers with the
necessary ".set hardfloat" directives.

80708677fa arm64: log physical ID of boot CPU
In certain debugging scenarios it's useful to know the physical ID (i.e.
the MPIDR_EL1.Aff* fields) of the boot CPU, but we don't currently log
this as we do for 32-bit ARM kernels.

This patch makes the kernel log the physical ID of the boot CPU early in
the boot process. The CPU logical map initialisation is folded in to
smp_setup_processor_id (which contrary to its name is also called by UP
kernels). This is called before setup_arch, so should not adversely
affect existing cpu_logical_map users.

Some of the macros defined in kvm_arm.h are useful in assembly files, but are
not compatible with the assembler.  Change any C language integer constant
definitions using appended U, UL, or ULL to the UL() preprocessor macro.  Also,
add a preprocessor include of the asm/memory.h file which defines the UL()
macro.

Fixes build errors like these when using kvm_arm.h in assembly
source files:

5284e1b4bc arm64: xchg: Implement cmpxchg_double
The arm64 architecture has the ability to exclusively load and store
a pair of registers from an address (ldxp/stxp). Also the SLUB can take
advantage of a cmpxchg_double implementation to avoid taking some
locks.

This patch provides an implementation of cmpxchg_double for 64-bit
pairs, and activates the logic required for the SLUB to use these
functions (HAVE_ALIGNED_STRUCT_PAGE and HAVE_CMPXCHG_DOUBLE).

Also definitions of this_cpu_cmpxchg_8 and this_cpu_cmpxchg_double_8
are wired up to cmpxchg_local and cmpxchg_double_local (rather than the
stock implementations that perform non-atomic operations with
interrupts disabled) as they are used by the SLUB.

On a Juno platform running on only the A57s I get quite a noticeable
performance improvement with 5 runs of hackbench on v3.17:

70ddb63a88 arm64: optimize memcpy_{from,to}io() and memset_io()
Optimize memcpy_{from,to}io() and memset_io() by transferring in 64 bit
as much as possible with minimized barrier usage.  This simplest
optimization brings faster throughput compare to current byte-by-byte read
and write with barrier in the loop.  Code's skeleton is taken from the
powerpc.

aa25729cfd ARM: OMAP3: Fix errors for omap_l3_smx when booted with device tree
When booting omap3 in device tree mode, we're currently getting
the following errors:

omap_l3_smx omap_l3_smx.0: couldn't request debug irq
omap_l3_smx: probe of omap_l3_smx.0 failed with error -22

This is because we don't have handling in the driver for the
compatible property and instead assume platform data being
passed.

Note that this binding is already documented, and implemented
for the related omap_l3_noc driver for omap4 and later. Looks
like the binding somehow never got never implemented for this
omap_l3_smx driver though.

Let's also remove __exit_p to allow binding and unbinding
of the driver while at it.

d29b9d7ed7 KVM: x86: Fix uninitialized op->type for some immediate values
The emulator could reuse an op->type from a previous instruction for some
immediate values.  If it mistakenly considers the operands as memory
operands, it will performs a memory read and overwrite op->val.

Consider for instance the ROR instruction - src2 (the number of times)
would be read from memory instead of being used as immediate.

Mark every immediate operand as such to avoid this problem.

Instead of reserving the memory regions based on which types we know
need to be reserved, consider only regions of the following types as
free for general use by the OS:

EFI_LOADER_CODE
EFI_LOADER_DATA
EFI_BOOT_SERVICES_CODE
EFI_BOOT_SERVICES_DATA
EFI_CONVENTIONAL_MEMORY

Note that this also fixes a problem with the original code, which would
misidentify a EFI_RUNTIME_SERVICES_DATA region as not reserved if it
does not have the EFI_MEMORY_RUNTIME attribute set. However, it is
perfectly legal for the firmware not to request a virtual mapping for
EFI_RUNTIME_SERVICES_DATA regions that contain configuration tables, in
which case the EFI_MEMORY_RUNTIME attribute would not be set.

Position independent AArch64 code needs to be linked and loaded at the
same relative offset from a 4 KB boundary, or adrp/add and adrp/ldr
pairs will not work correctly. (This is how PC relative symbol
references with a 4 GB reach are emitted)

We need to declare this in the PE/COFF header, otherwise the PE/COFF
loader may load the Image and invoke the stub at an offset which
violates this rule.

95b395963f arm64/efi: efistub: jump to 'stext' directly, not through the header
After the EFI stub has done its business, it jumps into the kernel by
branching to offset #0 of the loaded Image, which is where it expects
to find the header containing a 'branch to stext' instruction.

However, the UEFI spec 2.1.1 states the following regarding PE/COFF
image loading:
"A UEFI image is loaded into memory through the LoadImage() Boot
Service. This service loads an image with a PE32+ format into memory.
This PE32+ loader is required to load all sections of the PE32+ image
into memory."

In other words, it is /not/ required to load parts of the image that are
not covered by a PE/COFF section, so it may not have loaded the header
at the expected offset, as it is not covered by any PE/COFF section.

So instead, jump to 'stext' directly, which is at the base of the
PE/COFF .text section, by supplying a symbol 'stext_offset' to
efi-entry.o which contains the relative offset of stext into the Image.
Also replace other open coded calculations of the same value with a
reference to 'stext_offset'
