Add the needed device-tree compatible strings to the MAX77693 haptic
driver, so it can be automatically loaded when compiled as a kernel
module and given device-tree contains separate (i.e. 'motor-driver') node
under the main PMIC node. When device is instantiated from device-tree,
the driver data cannot be read via platform_get_device_id(), so get
device type from the parent MFD device instead, what works for both
cases.

The cap11xx devices have three hardware identification registers which are
currently marked as volatile, preventing caching of those registers. This
is not ideal since the registers should never change at runtime, we should
be able to cache the value after the first read. Stop marking the registers
as volatile, we don't have register defaults specified in the driver so
this will result in reading from the hardware on first use.

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart
from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks.
To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return
void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to
.remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers
are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove().
Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove
callback to the void returning variant.

Some SoCs have a separate dedicated wake-up interrupt controller that can
be used to wake up the system from deeper idle states. We already support
configuring a separate interrupt for a gpio-keys button to be used with a
gpio line. However, we are lacking support system suspend for cases where
a separate interrupt needs to be used in deeper sleep modes.
Because of it's nature, gpio-keys does not know about the runtime PM state
of the button gpios, and may have several gpio buttons configured for each
gpio-keys device instance. Implementing runtime PM support for gpio-keys
does not help, and we cannot use drivers/base/power/wakeirq.c support. We
need to implement custom wakeirq support for gpio-keys.
For handling a dedicated wakeirq for system suspend, we enable and disable
it with gpio_keys_enable_wakeup() and gpio_keys_disable_wakeup() that we
already use based on device_may_wakeup().
Some systems may have a dedicated wakeirq that can also be used as the
main interrupt, this is already working for gpio-keys. Let's add some
wakeirq related comments while at it as the usage with a gpio line and
separate interrupt line may not be obvious.

After the laptop lid is opened, and the device resumes from S3 deep
sleep, if the user presses a keyboard key while the screen is still black,
the mouse and keyboard become unusable.
Enabling this quirk prevents this behavior from occurring.

The put_device() calls rmi_release_function() which frees "fn" so the
dereference on the next line "fn->num_of_irqs" is a use after free.

The Cypress touchscreen controllers are often used with external pull-up
for the interrupt line and the I2C lines, so we might need to enable
a regulator to bring the lines into usable state. Otherwise, this might
cause spurious interrupts and reading from I2C will fail.
Implement support for a "vddio-supply" that is enabled by the cyttsp5
driver so that the regulator gets enabled when needed.

Touch controllers need some time after receiving reset command for the
firmware to finish re-initializing and be ready to respond to commands
from the host. The driver already had handling for the post-reset delay
for I2C and SPI transports, this change adds the handling to
SMBus-connected devices.
SMBus devices are peculiar because they implement legacy PS/2
compatibility mode, so reset is actually issued by psmouse driver on the
associated serio port, after which the control is passed to the RMI4
driver with SMBus companion device.
Note that originally the delay was added to psmouse driver in
92e24e0e57 ("Input: psmouse - add delay when deactivating for SMBus
mode"), but that resulted in an unwanted delay in "fast" reconnect
handler for the serio port, so it was decided to revert the patch and
have the delay being handled in the RMI4 driver, similar to the other
transports.

When the SMBus connection is attempted psmouse_smbus_init() sets
the fast_reconnect pointer to psmouse_smbus_reconnecti(). If SMBus
initialization fails, elantech_setup_ps2() and synaptics_init_ps2() will
fallback to PS/2 mode, replacing the psmouse private data. This can cause
issues on resume, since psmouse_smbus_reconnect() expects to find an
instance of struct psmouse_smbus_dev in psmouse->private.
The issue was uncovered when in 92e24e0e57 ("Input: psmouse - add
delay when deactivating for SMBus mode") psmouse_smbus_reconnect()
started attempting to use more of the data structure. The commit was
since reverted, not because it was at fault, but because there was found
a better way of doing what it was attempting to do.
Fix the problem by resetting the fast_reconnect pointer in psmouse
structure in elantech_setup_ps2() and synaptics_init_ps2() when the PS/2
mode is used.

While the patch itself is correct, it uncovered an issue with fallback
to PS/2 mode, where we were leaving psmouse->fast_reconnect handler set
to psmouse_smbus_reconnect(), which caused crashes.
While discussing various approaches to fix the issue it was noted that
this patch ass undesired delay in the "fast" resume path of PS/2 device,
and it would be better to actually use "reset_delay" option defined in
struct rmi_device_platform_data and have RMI code handle it for SMBus
transport as well. So this patch is being reverted to deal with crashes
and a better solution will be merged shortly.

Add a special case for gpio_count == 1 && gpio_int_idx == 0 to
goodix_add_acpi_gpio_mappings().
It seems that on newer x86/ACPI devices the reset and irq GPIOs are no
longer listed as GPIO resources instead there is only 1 GpioInt resource
and _PS0 does the whole reset sequence for us.
This means that we must call acpi_device_fix_up_power() on these devices
to ensure that the chip is reset before we try to use it.
This part was already fixed in commit 3de93e6ed2 ("Input: goodix - call
acpi_device_fix_up_power() in some cases") by adding a call to
acpi_device_fix_up_power() to the generic "Unexpected ACPI resources"
catch all.
But it turns out that this case on some hw needs some more special
handling. Specifically the firmware may bootup with the IRQ pin in
output mode. The reset sequence from ACPI _PS0 (executed by
acpi_device_fix_up_power()) should put the pin in input mode,
but the GPIO subsystem has cached the direction at bootup, causing
request_irq() to fail due to gpiochip_lock_as_irq() failure:

Fix this by adding a special case for gpio_count == 1 && gpio_int_idx == 0
which adds an ACPI GPIO lookup table for the int GPIO even though we cannot
use it for reset purposes (as there is no reset GPIO).
Adding the lookup will make the gpiod_int = gpiod_get(..., GPIOD_IN) call
succeed, which will explicitly set the direction to input fixing the issue.
Note this re-uses the acpi_goodix_int_first_gpios[] lookup table, since
there is only 1 GPIO in the ACPI resources the reset entry in that
lookup table will amount to a no-op.

In the initial boot stage the integrated keyboard of Fujitsu Lifebook E5411
refuses to work and it's not possible to type for example a dm-crypt
passphrase without the help of an external keyboard.
i8042.nomux kernel parameter resolves this issue but using that a PS/2
mouse is detected. This input device is unused even when the i2c-hid-acpi
kernel module is blacklisted making the integrated ELAN touchpad
(04F3:308A) not working at all.
Since the integrated touchpad is managed by the i2c_designware input
driver in the Linux kernel and you can't find a PS/2 mouse port on the
computer I think it's safe to not use the PS/2 mouse port at all.

This code is doing more work than it needs to.
Before handing off `val_str` to `kstrtouint()` we are eagerly removing
any trailing newline which requires copying `buf`, validating it's
length and checking/replacing any potential newlines.
kstrtouint() handles this implicitly:

`strncpy` is deprecated for use on NUL-terminated destination strings [1]
Let's use memcpy() as the bounds have already been checked and this
decays into a simple byte copy from one buffer to another removing any
ambiguity that strncpy has.

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart

To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return
void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to
.remove_new() which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers
are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove().
Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove
callback to the void returning variant.

The Itanium architecture is obsolete, and an informal survey [0] reveals
that any residual use of Itanium hardware in production is mostly HP-UX
or OpenVMS based. The use of Linux on Itanium appears to be limited to
enthusiasts that occasionally boot a fresh Linux kernel to see whether
things are still working as intended, and perhaps to churn out some
distro packages that are rarely used in practice.
None of the original companies behind Itanium still produce or support
any hardware or software for the architecture, and it is listed as
'Orphaned' in the MAINTAINERS file, as apparently, none of the engineers
that contributed on behalf of those companies (nor anyone else, for that
matter) have been willing to support or maintain the architecture
upstream or even be responsible for applying the odd fix. The Intel
firmware team removed all IA-64 support from the Tianocore/EDK2
reference implementation of EFI in 2018. (Itanium is the original
architecture for which EFI was developed, and the way Linux supports it
deviates significantly from other architectures.) Some distros, such as
Debian and Gentoo, still maintain [unofficial] ia64 ports, but many have
dropped support years ago.
While the argument is being made [1] that there is a 'for the common
good' angle to being able to build and run existing projects such as the
Grid Community Toolkit [2] on Itanium for interoperability testing, the
fact remains that none of those projects are known to be deployed on
Linux/ia64, and very few people actually have access to such a system in
the first place. Even if there were ways imaginable in which Linux/ia64
could be put to good use today, what matters is whether anyone is
actually doing that, and this does not appear to be the case.
There are no emulators widely available, and so boot testing Itanium is
generally infeasible for ordinary contributors. GCC still supports IA-64
but its compile farm [3] no longer has any IA-64 machines. GLIBC would
like to get rid of IA-64 [4] too because it would permit some overdue
code cleanups. In summary, the benefits to the ecosystem of having IA-64
be part of it are mostly theoretical, whereas the maintenance overhead
of keeping it supported is real.
So let's rip off the band aid, and remove the IA-64 arch code entirely.
This follows the timeline proposed by the Debian/ia64 maintainer [5],
which removes support in a controlled manner, leaving IA-64 in a known
good state in the most recent LTS release. Other projects will follow
once the kernel support is removed.

The Goodix touchscreen controller with ACPI ID GDX9110 was not recognized
by the goodix driver. This patch adds this ID to the list of supported IDs,

The driver has been switched to use IRQF_NO_AUTOEN, but in the error

tca6416_keypad_suspend() and tca6416_keypad_resume() only configure device
IRQ for wakeup. I2C core already does this by registering interrupt as a
wakeup IRQ in case when device is marked as wakeup-enabled, so we can
simply remove this code from the driver.

Remove option having i2c client contain raw gpio number instead of proper

There is a period of time between the psmouse deactivate and the
ability to communicate with the SMBus companion. Insert a
sleep after the deactivate to account for the delay and ensure
the SMBus companion is responsive.
Attempting to read from the SMBus companion too quickly was causing
the touchpad on machines with an i801_smbus companion to stop working
after a sleep/resume cycle.
On resume the rmi4_smbus would fail with errors reading the SMBus version
number:

In this case the rmi_smb_get_version fails with -ENXIO if it happens too
soon after the preceding serio_resume -> psmouse_deactivate call.
On boot this issue could cause the touchpad to stay in the limited PS/2
mode. This only reproduced in 1 in 10 boots on the Lenovo T440p.
Failures in the log on boot would show up as:

MELFAS MMS114 and similar touchscreens have support for touch keys.
Enable support of them in the driver. The keycodes to emit can be
controlled by the linux,keycodes DT property.
Sidenote - the MAX_TOUCHKEYS value is set to 15, as that's the
maximum value that the ID field can contain. I don't have access
to any datasheets that could confirm or deny whether this is accurate.
Most downstream drivers I've been able to find only use up to 2 keys
(though I did find a driver that mentioned up to 4, but only 2 were
used). They don't have any checks for a maximum keycode value, it is
just extracted from the ID bits (0xf mask).
The drivers I've been able to find also don't use touch ID 0; I assume
that it is never used, so the keycodes provided in the DT start from
touch ID 1. I suppose this is in-line with the regular behavior
for touch IDs in touchscreen events, as there the provided touch ID
is always lowered by 1, which would cause an overflow if it was 0...
Just in case, we quietly return if the touch ID is set to 0 here.
The implementation of the linux,keycodes property handling code was
adapted from the msg2638 driver.

The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate
of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus.
As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they
"temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h
and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include
files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and
replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to
explicitly include the correct includes.

Sync up with mainline to bring in updates to shared infrastructure.
Point the OF match table directly to the struct that describes the
device as opposed to an intermediate enum; doing so simplifies the
code and avoids a clang warning.
As part of this change, the I2C device ID table is removed, as the
device cannot probe without an OF node due to the unique nature of
the hardware's interrupt pin.

The touchpad of this device is both connected via PS/2 and i2c. This causes
strange behavior when both driver fight for control. The easy fix is to
prevent the PS/2 driver from accessing the mouse port as the full feature
set of the touchpad is only supported in the i2c interface anyway.
The strange behavior in this case is, that when an external screen is
connected and the notebook is closed, the pointer on the external screen is
moving to the lower right corner. When the notebook is opened again, this
movement stops, but the touchpad clicks are unresponsive afterwards until
reboot.

The vendor has introduced a new variant of silicon which is highly
similar to the existing IQS7222A, but with its independent sliders
essentially replaced with a single-contact trackpad.
Update the common driver to support this new device's register map
and report trackpad events. As with the IQS7222A, the new IQS7222D
can report both raw coordinates as well as gestures.

If the device drops into ultra-low-power mode before being placed
into normal-power mode as part of ATI being triggered, the device
does not assert any interrupts until the ATI routine is restarted
two seconds later.
Solve this problem by adopting the vendor's recommendation, which
calls for the device to be placed into normal-power mode prior to
being configured and ATI being triggered.
The original implementation followed this sequence, but the order
was inadvertently changed as part of the resolution of a separate
erratum.

Some third-party controllers, such as the HORPIAD FPS for Nintendo Switch
and Gamesir-G3w, require a specific packet that the first-party XInput
driver sends before it will start sending reports. It's not currently known
what this packet does, but since the first-party driver always sends it's
unlikely that this could cause issues with existing controllers.

In a future patch HAS_IOPORT=n will result in inb()/outb() and friends
not being declared. As ISA already implies HAS_IOPORT we can simply add
this dependency and guard sections of code using inb()/outb() as
alternative access methods.

Since PM8998/PM660, the power key debounce register was redefined to
support shorter debounce times. On PM8941 the shortest debounce time
(represented by register value 0) was 15625us, on PM8998 the shortest
debounce time is 62us, with the default being 2ms.
Adjust the bit shift to correctly program debounce on PM8998 and newer.

regmap_set_bits() is equivalent to regmap_update_bits() if mask == val.
The probe function uses regmap_clear_bits() to enable irqs, so
symmetrically make use of regmap_set_bits() to disable them. There is no
semantic difference.

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from
emitting a warning).
To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void.
In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new()
which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted,
.remove_new() is renamed to .remove().
Before this driver might have returned an error. In this case emit a
warning that tells more about the problem than the generic warning by
the core, and instead of making the remove callback return zero
unconditionally, convert to .remove_new() which is equivalent.

The Nokia 770 is using GPIOs from the global numberspace on the
CBUS node to pass down to the LCD controller. This regresses when we
let the OMAP GPIO driver use dynamic GPIO base.
The Nokia 770 now has dynamic allocation of IRQ numbers, so this
needs to be fixed for it to work.
As this is the only user of LCD MIPID we can easily augment the
driver to use a GPIO descriptor instead and resolve the issue.
The platform data .shutdown() callback wasn't even used in the
code, but we encode a shutdown asserting RESET in the remove()
callback for completeness sake.
The CBUS also has the ADS7846 touchscreen attached.
Populate the devices on the Nokia 770 CBUS I2C using software
nodes instead of platform data quirks. This includes the LCD
and the ADS7846 touchscreen so the conversion just brings the LCD
along with it as software nodes is an all-or-nothing design
pattern.
The ADS7846 has some limited support for using GPIO descriptors,
let's convert it over completely to using device properties and then
fix all remaining boardfile users to provide all platform data using
software nodes.
Dump the of includes and of_match_ptr() in the ADS7846 driver as part
of the job.
Since we have to move ADS7846 over to obtaining the GPIOs it is
using exclusively from descriptors, we provide descriptor tables
for the two remaining in-kernel boardfiles using ADS7846:
- PXA Spitz
- MIPS Alchemy DB1000 development board
It was too hard for me to include software node conversion of
these two remaining users at this time: the spitz is using a
hscync callback in the platform data that would require further
GPIO descriptor conversion of the Spitz, and moving the hsync
callback down into the driver: it will just become too big of
a job, but it can be done separately.
The MIPS Alchemy DB1000 is simply something I cannot test, so take
the easier approach of just providing some GPIO descriptors in
this case as I don't want the patch to grow too intrusive.
As we see that several device trees have incorrect polarity flags
and just expect to bypass the gpiolib polarity handling, fix up
all device trees too, in a separate patch.

While doing my research to improve the xpad device names I noticed
that the 1532:0037 VID/PID seems to be used by the DeathAdder 2013,
so that Razer Sabertooth instance looked wrong and very suspect to
me. I didn't see any mention in the official drivers, either.
After doing more research, it turns out that the xpad list
is used by many other projects (like Steam) as-is [1], this
issue was reported [2] and Valve/Sam Lantinga fixed it [3]:

Upon receiving a PS/2 command the device and controller are supposed to
stop sending normal data (scancodes or movement packets) and instead
immediately start delivering ACK/NAK and command response. Unfortunately
often EC has an output buffer which may contain latched data by the time
the EC receives a command from the host. The kernel used to ignore such
data, but that may cause "stuck" keys if the data dropped happens to be a
break code or a part of a break code. This occasionally happens, for
example, on Chromebooks when the kernel tries to toggle CapsLock LED on
a keyboard while user releases Alt+Search keyboard shortcut.
Fix this by passing the first non-ACK byte to the normal handler for a
handful of PS/2 commands that are expected to be used during normal device
operation (as opposed to probe/configuration time).

It is not entirely correct that libps2 sets PS2_FLAG_CMD1 after
the device acknowledges each byte sent to the device by the host.
Rework the code so that PS2_FLAG_CMD1 and PS2_FLAG_CMD are set only once,
at the beginning of PS/2 command execution.

When getting unexpected data while waiting for an acknowledgement it does
not matter what command phase is currently executed, and ps2_handle_ack()
should indicate that no further processing is needed for the received data
byte. Remove PS2_FLAG_ACK_CMD and associated handling.
Note that while it is possible to make ps2_handle_ack (and
ps2_handle_repsonse) return void, it will be done when the code will be
converted to common PS/2 interrupt handler later.

Some devices have a wrong entry in their button array which points to
a GPIO which is required in another driver, so soc_button_array must
not claim it.
A specific example of this is the Lenovo Yoga Book X90F / X90L,
where the PNP0C40 home button entry points to a GPIO which is not
a home button and which is required by the lenovo-yogabook driver.
Add a DMI quirk table which can specify an ACPI GPIO resource index which
should be skipped; and add an entry for the Lenovo Yoga Book X90F / X90L
to this new DMI quirk table.

The touch controller needs some time to wake-up after setting the wake-up
gpio. Without having a delay after wake-up probing regularly fails in
edt_ft5x06_ts_identify() with an error (i.e. EREMOTEIO) that was caused
by a failed i2c transfer.
The datasheet sets the wake-up time to 5 ms, although it is not entirely
clear.

The touchscreen can be put into a deep sleep state that prevents it from
emitting touch irqs. Put the touchscreen into deep sleep during suspend
if it is not marked as a wakeup source.
This also fixes a problem with the touchscreen getting unresponsive after
system resume when a falling edge trigger is used for the interrupt.
When left on during suspend, the touchscreen would pull the interrupt
line down in response to touch events, leaving the interrupt effectively
disabled after resume.

input_abs_set_val() can nominally call input_alloc_absinfo() which may
allocate memory with GFP_KERNEL flag. This does not happen when
input_abs_set_val() is called by the input core to set current MT slot when
handling a new input event, but it trips certain static analyzers.
Rearrange the code to access the relevant structures directly.

As per the comments for input_allocate_device() and
input_register_device(), input_free_device() must be called only to free
devices that have not been registered. input_unregister_device()
already calls input_put_device(), thus leading to a use-after-free.
Moreover, the kunit_suite.exit() method is called after every test case,
even on failures. As the test itself already does cleanups in its
failure paths, this may lead to a second use-after-free.
Fix the first issue by dropping the call to input_allocate_device() from
input_test_exit().
Fix the second issue by making the cleanup code conditional on a
successful test.

Currently, uinput doesn't use the input_set_timestamp API, so any
event injected using uinput is not accurately timestamped in terms of
measuring when the actual event happened. Hence, call the
input_set_timestamp API from uinput in order to provide a more
accurate sense of time for the event. Propagate only the timestamps

The watchdog_timer can schedule tx_timeout_task and watchdog_work
can also arm watchdog_timer. The process is shown below:

Although del_timer_sync() and cancel_work_sync() are called in
cyttsp4_remove(), the timer and workqueue could still be rearmed.
As a result, the possible use after free bugs could happen. The

This patch changes del_timer_sync() to timer_shutdown_sync(),
which could prevent rearming of the timer from the workqueue.

First of all, previously the 16-bit magnitude was written as-is to the
device which actually discarded the upper 8 bits since the device has
8-bit registers only. This meant that a strong_magnitude of 0xFF00 would
result in 0. To correct this shift the strong_magnitude / weak_magnitude
input values so we discard the lower 8 bits and keep the upper bits
instead.
Secondly the RTP mode that is used by default interprets the values as
signed (2s complement), so 0x81 = 0%, 0x00 = 50%, 0x7F = 100%. This
doesn't match the FF_RUMBLE interface at all, so let's tell the device
to interpret the data as unsigned instead which gets us 0x00 = 0% and
0xFF = 100%.
As last change switch ERM to using "Closed-Loop Mode, Unidirectional"
instead of "Open-Loop Mode" since it's recommended by the datasheet
compared to open loop and better matches our use case of 0% - 100%
vibration.

Since the driver has disabled regmap caching with REGCACHE_NONE, it's
warning us that we provide defaults that are not used. Remove them.

When doing the initial startup there's no need to poll without any
delay and spam the I2C bus.
Let's sleep 15ms between each attempt, which is the same time as used
in the vendor driver.
