The gabs array in the sctp_tsnmap structure is only used
in one place, sctp_make_sack(). As such, carrying the
array around in the sctp_tsnmap and thus directly in
the sctp_association is rather pointless since most
of the time it's just taking up space. Now, let
sctp_make_sack create and populate it and then throw
it away when it's done.

The tsn map currently use is 4K large and is stuck inside
the sctp_association structure making memory references REALLY
expensive. What we really need is at most 4K worth of bits
so the biggest map we would have is 512 bytes. Also, the
map is only really usefull when we have gaps to store and
report. As such, starting with minimal map of say 32 TSNs (bits)
should be enough for normal low-loss operations. We can grow
the map by some multiple of 32 along with some extra room any
time we receive the TSN which would put us outside of the map
boundry. As we close gaps, we can shift the map to rebase
it on the latest TSN we've seen. This saves 4088 bytes per
association just in the map alone along savings from the now
unnecessary structure members.

order. We need to store it in host byte order as expected
by data types and the user API.

This patch enables cookie-echo retransmission transport switch
feature. If COOKIE-ECHO retransmission happens, it will be sent
to the address other than the one last sent to.

RFC 4960: Section 9.2
The sender of the SHUTDOWN MAY also start an overall guard timer
'T5-shutdown-guard' to bound the overall time for the shutdown
sequence. At the expiration of this timer, the sender SHOULD abort
the association by sending an ABORT chunk. If the 'T5-shutdown-
guard' timer is used, it SHOULD be set to the recommended value of 5
times 'RTO.Max'.
The timer 'T5-shutdown-guard' is used to counter the overall time
for shutdown sequence, and it's start by the sender of the SHUTDOWN.
So timer 'T5-shutdown-guard' should be start when we send the first
SHUTDOWN chunk and enter the SHUTDOWN-SENT state, not start when we
receipt of the SHUTDOWN primitive and enter SHUTDOWN-PENDING state.
If 'T5-shutdown-guard' timer is start at SHUTDOWN-PENDING state, the
association may be ABORT while data is still transmitting.

sctp_is_any() function that is used to check for wildcard addresses
only looks at the address itself to determine the address family.
This function is used in the API to check the address passed in from
the user. If the user simply zerroes out the sockaddr_storage and
pass that in, we'll end up failing. So, let's try harder to determine
the address family by also checking the socket if it's possible.

sctp_chunks should be put on a diet. This is some of the low hanging
fruit that we can strip out. Changes all the __s8/__u8 flags to
bitfields. Saves 12 bytes per chunk.

Chunks placed on the retransmit list are marked as inelegible
for fast retrasnmission. Since missing indications determine
when fast reransmission is done, there is not point in calling
sctp_mark_missing() on the retransmit list since those chunks
will not be marked.

Since call to function sctp_sf_abort_violation() need paramter 'arg' with
'struct sctp_chunk' type, it will read the chunk type and chunk length from
the chunk_hdr member of chunk. But call to sctp_sf_violation_paramlen()
always with 'struct sctp_paramhdr' type's parameter, it will be passed to
sctp_sf_abort_violation(). This may cause kernel panic.

If INIT-ACK is received with SupportedExtensions parameter which
indicates that the peer does not support AUTH, the packet will be
silently ignore, and sctp_process_init() do cleanup all of the
transports in the association.
When T1-Init timer is expires, OOPS happen while we try to choose
a different init transport.
The solution is to only clean up the non-active transports, i.e
the ones that the peer added. However, that introduces a problem
with sctp_connectx(), because we don't mark the proper state for
the transports provided by the user. So, we'll simply mark
user-provided transports as ACTIVE. That will allow INIT
retransmissions to work properly in the sctp_connectx() context
and prevent the crash.

Do not enable peer features like addip and auth, if they
are administratively disabled localy. If the peer resports
that he supports something that we don't, neither end can
use it so enabling it is pointless. This solves a problem
when talking to a peer that has auth and addip enabled while
we do not. Found by Andrei Pelinescu-Onciul <andrei@iptel.org>.

Loopback used to clobber the ip_summed filed which sctp then used
to figure out if it needed to do checksumming or not. Now that
loopback doesn't do that any more, sctp needs to set the ip_summed
field correctly.

The bonds check to prevent buffer overlflow was not exactly
right. It still allowed overflow of up to 8 bytes which is
sizeof(struct sctp_authkey).
Since optlen is already checked against the size of that struct,
we are guaranteed not to cause interger overflow either.

All of the SCTP-AUTH socket options could cause a panic
if the extension is disabled and the API is envoked.
Additionally, there were some additional assumptions that
certain pointers would always be valid which may not
always be the case.
This patch hardens the API and address all of the crash
scenarios.

The ipfragok flag controls whether the packet may be fragmented
either on the local host on beyond. The latter is only valid on
IPv4.
In fact, we never want to do the latter even on IPv4 when PMTU is
enabled. This is because even though we can't fragment packets
within SCTP due to the prtocol's inherent faults, we can still
fragment it at IP layer. By setting the DF bit we will improve
the PMTU process.
RFC 2960 only says that we SHOULD clear the DF bit in this case,
so we're compliant even if we set the DF bit. In fact RFC 4960
no longer has this statement.
Once we make this change, we only need to control the local
fragmentation. There is already a bit in the skb which controls
that, local_df. So this patch sets that instead of using the
ipfragok argument.
The only complication is that there isn't a struct sock object
per transport, so for IPv4 we have to resort to changing the
pmtudisc field for every packet. This should be safe though
as the protocol is single-threaded.
Note that after this patch we can remove ipfragok from the rest
of the stack too.

Removes legacy reinvent-the-wheel type thing. The generic
machinery integrates much better to automated debugging aids
such as kerneloops.org (and others), and is unambiguous due to
better naming. Non-intuively BUG_TRAP() is actually equal to
WARN_ON() rather than BUG_ON() though some might actually be
promoted to BUG_ON() but I left that to future.
I could make at least one BUILD_BUG_ON conversion.

This patch adds support for flag values which are ORed to the type passwd
to socket and socketpair. The additional code is minimal. The flag
values in this implementation can and must match the O_* flags. This
avoids overhead in the conversion.
The internal functions sock_alloc_fd and sock_map_fd get a new parameters
and all callers are changed.

The tcp_enter_memory_pressure calls NET_INC_STATS, but doesn't
have where to get the net from.
I decided to add a sk argument, not the net itself, only to factor
all the required sock_net(sk) calls inside the enter_memory_pressure
callback itself.

If we don't have the buffer space or memory allocations fail,
the data chunk is dropped, but TSN is still reported as received.
This introduced a data loss that can't be recovered. We should
only mark TSNs are received after memory allocations finish.
The one exception is the invalid stream identifier, but that's
due to user error and is reported back to the user.
This was noticed by Michael Tuexen.

Socket options SCTP_GET_PEER_ADDR_OLD, SCTP_GET_PEER_ADDR_NUM_OLD,
SCTP_GET_LOCAL_ADDR_OLD, and SCTP_GET_PEER_LOCAL_ADDR_NUM_OLD
have been replaced by newer versions a since 2005. It's time
to officially deprecate them and schedule them for removal.

RFC 4960, Section 11.4. Protection of Non-SCTP-Capable Hosts
When an SCTP stack receives a packet containing multiple control or
DATA chunks and the processing of the packet requires the sending of
multiple chunks in response, the sender of the response chunk(s) MUST
NOT send more than one packet. If bundling is supported, multiple
response chunks that fit into a single packet MAY be bundled together
into one single response packet. If bundling is not supported, then
the sender MUST NOT send more than one response chunk and MUST
discard all other responses. Note that this rule does NOT apply to a
SACK chunk, since a SACK chunk is, in itself, a response to DATA and
a SACK does not require a response of more DATA.
We implement this by not servicing our outqueue until we reach the end
of the packet. This enables maximum bundling. We also identify
'response' chunks and make sure that we only send 1 packet when sending
such chunks.

This patch add to validate initiate tag and chunk type if verification
tag is 0 when handling ICMP message.
RFC 4960, Appendix C. ICMP Handling
ICMP6) An implementation MUST validate that the Verification Tag
contained in the ICMP message matches the Verification Tag of the peer.
If the Verification Tag is not 0 and does NOT match, discard the ICMP
message. If it is 0 and the ICMP message contains enough bytes to
verify that the chunk type is an INIT chunk and that the Initiate Tag
matches the tag of the peer, continue with ICMP7. If the ICMP message
is too short or the chunk type or the Initiate Tag does not match,
silently discard the packet.

Right now, any time we set a primary transport we set
the changeover_active flag. As a result, we invoke SFR-CACC
even when there has been no changeover events.
Only set changeover_active, when there is a true changeover

Commit e9df2e8fd8 ("[IPV6]: Use
appropriate sock tclass setting for routing lookup.") also changed the
way that ECN capable transports mark this capability in IPv6. As a
result, SCTP was not marking ECN capablity because the traffic class
was never set. This patch brings back the markings for IPv6 traffic.

When fast retransmit is triggered by a sack, we should flush the queue
only once so that only 1 retransmit happens. Also, since we could
potentially have non-fast-rtx chunks on the retransmit queue, we need
make sure any chunks eligable for fast retransmit are sent first
during fast retransmission.

When we are trying to fast retransmit the lowest outstanding TSN, we
need to restart the T3-RTX timer, so that subsequent timeouts will
correctly tag all the packets necessary for retransmissions.

If socket is create by AF_INET type, add IPv6 address to asoc will cause
kernel panic while packet is transmitted on that transport.

If socket is create by PF_INET type, it can not used IPv6 address to
send/recv DATA, So we can not used IPv6 address even if peer tell us it

The specification of sctp_connectx() has been changed to return
an association id. We've added a new socket option that will
return the association id as the return value from the setsockopt()
call. The library that implements sctp_connectx() interface will
implement both socket options.

According to RFC4960 7.2.2,
When all of the data transmitted by the sender has
been acknowledged by the recerver, partial_bytes_acked is initialized to 0.
This patch conforms to rfc requirement.
Without this fix, cwnd might be error incremented.

Recently I posted a patch to add some informational items to
/proc/net/sctp/assocs. All the information is correct, but because
of how the seqfile show operation is laid out, some of the formatting
is backwards. This patch corrects that formatting, so that the new
information appears at the end of each line, rather than in the middle.

All IP addresses that are present in a system are duplicated on
struct sctp_sockaddr_entry. They are linked in the global list
called sctp_local_addr_list. And this struct unions IPv4 and IPv6
addresses.
So, there can be rare case, when a sockaddr_in.sin_addr coincides
with the corresponding part of the sockaddr_in6 and the notifier
for IPv4 will carry away an IPv6 entry.
The fix is to check the family before comparing the addresses.

When receiving an error length INIT-ACK during COOKIE-WAIT,
a 0-vtag ABORT will be responsed. This action violates the
protocol apparently. This patch achieves the following things.
1 If the INIT-ACK contains all the fixed parameters, use init-tag
recorded from INIT-ACK as vtag.
2 If the INIT-ACK doesn't contain all the fixed parameters,
just reflect its vtag.

RFC 4890 has the following text:
The HMAC algorithm based on SHA-1 MUST be supported and
included in the HMAC-ALGO parameter.
As a result, we need to check in sctp_verify_param() that HMAC_SHA1 is
present in the list. If not, we should probably treat this as a
protocol violation.
It should also be a protocol violation if the HMAC parameter is empty.

With a was number of callsites sctp_add_cmd_sf wrapper bloats
kernel by some amount. Due to unlikely tracking allyesconfig,
with the initial result were around ~7kB (thus caught my
attention) while a non-debug config produced only ~2.3kB effect.
I (ij) proposed first a patch to uninline it but Vlad responded
with a patch that removed the only sctp_add_cmd call which is
wrapped by sctp_add_cmd_sf (I wasn't sure if I could do that).
I did minor cleanup to Vlad's patch.

There is a race is SCTP between the loading of the module
and the access by the socket layer to the protocol functions.
In particular, a list of addresss that SCTP maintains is
not initialized prior to the registration with the protosw.
Thus it is possible for a user application to gain access
to SCTP functions before everything has been initialized.
The problem shows up as odd crashes during connection
initializtion when we try to access the SCTP address list.
The solution is to refactor how we do registration and
initialize the lists prior to registering with the protosw.
Care must be taken since the address list initialization
depends on some other pieces of SCTP initialization. Also
the clean-up in case of failure now also needs to be refactored.

If an address family is not listed in "Supported Address Types"
parameter(INIT Chunk), but the packet is sent by that family, this
address family should be considered as supported by peer. Otherwise,
an error condition will occur. For instance, if kernel receives an
IPV6 SCTP INIT chunk with "Support Address Types" parameter which
indicates just supporting IPV4 Address family. Kernel will reply an
IPV6 SCTP INIT ACK packet, but the source ipv6 address in ipv6 header
will be vacant. This is not correct.
refer to RFC4460 as following:
IMPLEMENTATION NOTE: If an SCTP endpoint lists in the 'Supported
Address Types' parameter either IPv4 or IPv6, but uses the other
family for sending the packet containing the INIT chunk, or if it
also lists addresses of the other family in the INIT chunk, then
the address family that is not listed in the 'Supported Address
Types' parameter SHOULD also be considered as supported by the
receiver of the INIT chunk. The receiver of the INIT chunk SHOULD
NOT respond with any kind of error indication.

RFC 3873 specifies several MIB objects that can't be obtained by the
current data set exported by /proc/sys/net/sctp/assoc. This patch
adds the missing pieces of data that allow us to compute all the
objects in the sctpAssocTable object.

I noticed while looking into some odd behavior in sctp, that the variable
name sctp_pf_inet6_specific was used twice to represent two different
pieces of data (its both a structure name and a pointer to that type of
structure), which is confusing to say the least, and potentially dangerous
depending on the variable scope. This patch cleans that up, and makes the
protocol and address family registration names in SCTP more regular,
increasing readability.

In a few instances, we need to remove the chunk from the transmitted list
prior to freeing it. This is because the free code doesn't do that any
more and so we need to do it manually.

While recevied ASCONF chunk with serial number less then needed, kernel
will treat this chunk as a retransmitted ASCONF chunk and find cached
ASCONF-ACK chunk used sctp_assoc_lookup_asconf_ack(). But this function
will always return NO-NULL. So response with cached ASCONF-ACKs chunk
will cause kernel panic.
In function sctp_assoc_lookup_asconf_ack(), if the cached ASCONF-ACKs
list asconf_ack_list is empty, or if the serial being requested does not
exists, the function as it currectly stands returns the actuall
list_head asoc->asconf_ack_list, this is not a cache ASCONF-ACK chunk
but a bogus pointer.

Thomas Dreibholz has reported that port numbers are not filled
in the results of sctp_getladdrs() when the socket was bound
to an ephemeral port. This is only true, if the address was
not specified either. So, fill in the port number correctly.

When we recieve a FORWARD_TSN chunk, we need to reap
all the queued fast-forwarded chunks from the ordering queue
However, if we don't have them queued, we need to see if
the next expected one is there as well. If it is, start
deliver from that point instead of waiting for the next
chunk to arrive.

I was notified by Randy Stewart that lksctp claims to be
"the reference implementation". First of all, "the
refrence implementation" was the original implementation
of SCTP in usersapce written ty Randy and a few others.
Second, after looking at the definiton of 'reference implementation',
we don't really meet the requirements.

If SCTP-AUTH is enabled, received AUTH chunk with BAD shared key
identifier will cause kernel panic.
Test as following:
step1: enabled /proc/sys/net/sctp/auth_enable
step 2: connect to SCTP server with auth capable. Association is
established between endpoints. Then send a AUTH chunk with a bad
shareid, SCTP server will kernel panic after received that AUTH chunk.

If STCP is started while /proc/sys/net/sctp/auth_enable is set 0 and
association is established between endpoints. Then if
/proc/sys/net/sctp/auth_enable is set 1, a received AUTH chunk will
cause kernel panic.

When parameter validation fails, there should be error causes that
specify what type of failure we've encountered. If the causes are not
there, we lacked memory to allocated them. Thus make that the default
value for the error.

When a new address is added, we must check if the new address does not
already exists. This patch makes this check to be aware of a network
namespace, so the check will look if the address already exists for
the specified network namespace. While the addresses are browsed, the
addresses which do not belong to the namespace are discarded.

The patch extends the inet_addr_type and inet_dev_addr_type with the
network namespace pointer. That allows to access the different tables
relatively to the network namespace.
The modification of the signature function is reported in all the
callers of the inet_addr_type using the pointer to the well known
init_net.

protocol. Most of them are renamed from memory accounting functions
for stream protocols. At the same time, some stream memory accounting
functions are removed since other functions do same thing.

memory accounting calls to network core functions. Moreover, present
memory accounting call is renamed to new accounting call.
Finally we replace present memory accounting calls with new interface
in TCP and SCTP.

The Security Considerations section of RFC 5061 has the following
text:
If an SCTP endpoint that supports this extension receives an INIT
that indicates that the peer supports the ASCONF extension but does
NOT support the [RFC4895] extension, the receiver of such an INIT
MUST send an ABORT in response. Note that an implementation is
allowed to silently discard such an INIT as an option as well, but
under NO circumstance is an implementation allowed to proceed with
the association setup by sending an INIT-ACK in response.
An implementation that receives an INIT-ACK that indicates that the
peer does not support the [RFC4895] extension MUST NOT send the
COOKIE-ECHO to establish the association. Instead, the
implementation MUST discard the INIT-ACK and report to the upper-
layer user that an association cannot be established destroying the
Transmission Control Block (TCB).
Follow the recomendations.

F4) ... One special consideration is that ABORT
Chunks arriving destined to the IP address being deleted MUST be
ignored (see Section 5.3.1 for further details).
Check if the address we received on is in the DEL state, and if
so, ignore the ABORT.

be found using the source and destination of the IP packet,
then, if the packet contains ASCONF chunks, the Address Parameter

The Address Parameter in the parameter list of the ASCONF chunk
may be a wildcard address. In this case special processing
is required. For the 'add' case, the source IP of the packet is
added. In the 'del' case, all addresses except the source IP
of packet are removed. In the "mark primary" case, the source
address is marked as primary.

The crc32c library used an identical table and algorithm
as SCTP. Switch to using the library instead of carrying
our own table. Using crypto layer proved to have too
much overhead compared to using the library directly.

The sock_wake_async() performs a bit different actions
depending on "how" argument. Unfortunately this argument
ony has numerical magic values.
I propose to give names to their constants to help people
reading this function callers understand what's going on
without looking into this function all the time.
I suppose this is 2.6.25 material, but if it's not (or the
naming seems poor/bad/awful), I can rework it against the
current net-2.6 tree.

Many-many code in the kernel initialized the timer->function
and timer->data together with calling init_timer(timer). There
is already a helper for this. Use it for networking code.
The patch is HUGE, but makes the code 130 lines shorter
(98 insertions(+), 228 deletions(-)).

When processing an unexpected INIT chunk, we do not need to
do any preservation of the old AUTH parameters. In fact,
doing such preservations will nullify AUTH and allow connection
stealing.

At the end of partial delivery, we may have complete messages
sitting on the fragment queue. These messages are stuck there
until a new fragment arrives. This can comletely stall a
given association. When clearing partial delivery state, flush
any complete messages from the fragment queue and send them on
their way up.

During accept/migrate the code attempts to copy the addresses from
the parent endpoint to the new endpoint. However, if the parent
was bound to a wildcard address, then we end up pointlessly copying
all of the current addresses on the system.

SCTP accept code tries to add a newliy created socket
to a bind bucket without holding a lock. On a really
busy system, that can causes slab corruptions.

SCTP-AUTH requires selection of CRYPTO, HMAC and SHA1 since
SHA1 is a MUST requirement for AUTH. We also support SHA256,
but that's optional, so fix the code to treat it as such.

In the case where no autheticated chunks were specified, we were still
trying to verify that a given chunk needs authentication and doing so
incorrectly. Add a check for parameter length to make sure we don't
try to use an empty auth_chunks parameter to verify against.

Supported extensions parameter was not coded right and ended up
over-writing memory or causing skb overflows. First, remove

Our treatment of Heartbeats is special in that the inital HB chunk
counts against the error count for the association, where as for
other chunks, only retransmissions or timeouts count against us.
As a result, we had an off-by-1 situation with a number of
Heartbeats we could send.

In net/sctp/sm_statefuns.c::sctp_sf_abort_violation() we may leak
the storage allocated for 'abort' by returning from the function
without using or freeing it. This happens in case
"sctp_auth_recv_cid(SCTP_CID_ABORT, asoc)" is true and we jump to
the 'discard' label.
Spotted by the Coverity checker.
The simple fix is to simply move the creation of the "abort chunk"
to after the possible jump to the 'discard' label. This way we don't
even have to allocate the memory at all in the problem case.

When the code calls uncork, trigger a queue flush, even
if the queue was not corked. Most callers that explicitely
cork the queue will have additinal checks to see if they
corked it. Callers who do not cork the queue expect packets
to flow when they call uncork.
The scneario that showcased this bug happend when we were not
able to bundle DATA with outgoing COOKIE-ECHO. As a result
the data just sat in the outqueue and did not get transmitted.
The application expected a response, but nothing happened.

There is a small bug when we process a FWD-TSN. We'll deliver
anything upto the current next expected SSN. However, if the
next expected is already in the queue, it will take another
chunk to trigger its delivery. The fix is to simply check
the current queued SSN is the next expected one.

SCTP-AUTH and future ADD-IP updates have a requirement to
do additional verification of parameters and an ability to
ABORT the association if verification fails. So, introduce
additional return code so that we can clear signal a required
action.

A SCTP endpoint may have a lot of associations on them and walking
the list is fairly inefficient. Instead, use a hashed lookup,
and filter out the hash list based on the endopoing we already have.

There is a possible race condition where the timer code will
free the association and the next packet in the queue will also
attempt to free the same association.
The example is, when we receive an ABORT at about the same time
as the retransmission timer fires. If the timer wins the race,
it will free the association. Once it releases the lock, the
queue processing will recieve the ABORT and will try to free
the association again.

This patch adds a tunable that will allow ADD_IP to work without
AUTH for backward compatibility. The default value is off since
the default value for ADD_IP is off as well. People who need
to use ADD-IP with older implementations take risks of connection
hijacking and should consider upgrading or turning this tunable on.

After learning more about rcu, it looks like the ADD-IP hadling
doesn't need to call call_rcu_bh. All the rcu critical sections
use rcu_read_lock, so using call_rcu_bh is wrong here.
Now, restore the local_bh_disable() code blocks and use normal
call_rcu() calls. Also restore the missing return statement.

Commit d0ce92910b broke several retransmit
cases including fast retransmit. The reason is that we should
only delay by rto while doing retranmists as a result of a timeout.
Retransmit as a result of path mtu discover, fast retransmit, or
other evernts that should trigger immidiate retransmissions got broken.
Also, since rto is doubled prior to marking of packets elegable for
retransmission, we never marked correct chunks anyway.
The fix is provide a reason for a given retransmission so that we
can mark chunks appropriately and to save the old rto value to do
comparisons against.
All regressions tests passed with this code.

If ASCONF chunk is bundled with other chunks as the first chunk, when
process the ASCONF parameters, full packet data will be process as the
parameters of the ASCONF chunk, not only the real parameters. So if you
send a ASCONF chunk bundled with other chunks, you will get an unexpect
result.
This problem also exists when ASCONF-ACK chunk is bundled with other chunks.
This patch fix this problem.

Most drivers need to set length and offset as well, so may as well fold
those three lines into one.
Add sg_assign_page() for those two locations that only needed to set

Adrian Bunk points out that "unsafe" was used to mark modules touched by
the deprecated MOD_INC_USE_COUNT interface, which has long gone. It's time
to remove the member from the module structure, as well.
If you want a module which can't unload, don't register an exit function.
(Vlad Yasevich says SCTP is now safe to unload, so just remove the
__unsafe there).

ADD-IP spec requires AUTH. It is, in fact, dangerous without AUTH.
So, disable ADD-IP functionality if the peer claims to support

This patch implements the receive path needed to process authenticated
chunks. Add ability to process the AUTH chunk and handle edge cases

SCTP-AUTH, Section 6.2:
Endpoints MUST send all requested chunks authenticated where this has
been requested by the peer. The other chunks MAY be sent
authenticated or not. If endpoint pair shared keys are used, one of
them MUST be selected for authentication.
To send chunks in an authenticated way, the sender MUST include these
chunks after an AUTH chunk. This means that a sender MUST bundle
chunks in order to authenticate them.
If the endpoint has no endpoint pair shared key for the peer, it MUST
use Shared Key Identifier 0 with an empty endpoint pair shared key.
If there are multiple endpoint shared keys the sender selects one and
uses the corresponding Shared Key Identifier

Implement processing for the CHUNKS, RANDOM, and HMAC parameters and
deal with how this parameters are effected by association restarts.
In particular, during unexpeted INIT processing, we need to reply with
parameters from the original INIT chunk. Also, after restart, we need
to update the old association with new peer parameters and change the
association shared keys.

It contains a list of chunks that a particular SCTP extension
uses. Current extensions supported are Partial Reliability
(FWD-TSN) and ADD-IP (ASCONF and ASCONF-ACK).
When implementing new extensions (AUTH, PKT-DROP, etc..), new
chunks need to be added to this parameter. Parameter processing
would be modified to negotiate support for these new features.

This patch makes most of the generic device layer network
namespace safe. This patch makes dev_base_head a
network namespace variable, and then it picks up
a few associated variables. The functions:
dev_getbyhwaddr
dev_getfirsthwbytype

__dev_get_by_name
dev_get_by_index
__dev_get_by_index
dev_ioctl
dev_ethtool
dev_load
wireless_process_ioctl
were modified to take a network namespace argument, and
deal with it.
vlan_ioctl_set and brioctl_set were modified so their
hooks will receive a network namespace argument.
So basically anthing in the core of the network stack that was
affected to by the change of dev_base was modified to handle
multiple network namespaces. The rest of the network stack was
simply modified to explicitly use &init_net the initial network
namespace. This can be fixed when those components of the network
stack are modified to handle multiple network namespaces.
For now the ifindex generator is left global.
Fundametally ifindex numbers are per namespace, or else
we will have corner case problems with migration when
we get that far.
At the same time there are assumptions in the network stack
that the ifindex of a network device won't change. Making
the ifindex number global seems a good compromise until
the network stack can cope with ifindex changes when
you change namespaces, and the like.

This patch passes in the namespace a new socket should be created in
and has the socket code do the appropriate reference counting. By
virtue of this all socket create methods are touched. In addition
the socket create methods are modified so that they will fail if
you attempt to create a socket in a non-default network namespace.
Failing if we attempt to create a socket outside of the default
network namespace ensures that as we incrementally make the network stack
network namespace aware we will not export functionality that someone
has not audited and made certain is network namespace safe.
Allowing us to partially enable network namespaces before all of the
exotic protocols are supported.
Any protocol layers I have missed will fail to compile because I now
pass an extra parameter into the socket creation code.

This patch makes /proc/net per network namespace. It modifies the global
variables proc_net and proc_net_stat to be per network namespace.
The proc_net file helpers are modified to take a network namespace argument,
and all of their callers are fixed to pass &init_net for that argument.
This ensures that all of the /proc/net files are only visible and
usable in the initial network namespace until the code behind them
has been updated to be handle multiple network namespaces.
Making /proc/net per namespace is necessary as at least some files
in /proc/net depend upon the set of network devices which is per
network namespace, and even more files in /proc/net have contents
that are relevant to a single network namespace.

This patch introduces autotuning to the sctp buffer management code
similar to the TCP. The buffer space can be grown if the advertised
receive window still has room. This might happen if small message
sizes are used, which is common in telecom environmens.
New tunables are introduced that provide limits to buffer growth
and memory pressure is entered if to much buffer spaces is used.

If ADDIP is enabled, when an ASCONF chunk is received with ASCONF
paramter length set to zero, this will cause infinite loop.
By the way, if an malformed ASCONF chunk is received, will cause
processing to access memory without verifying.
This is because of not check the validity of parameters in ASCONF chunk.
This patch fixed this.

RFC 4460 and future RFC 4960 (2960-bis) specify that packets
with bundled INIT chunks need to be dropped. We currenlty do
that only after processing any leading chunks. For OOTB chunks,
since we already walk the entire packet, we should discard packets
with bundled INITs.
There are other chunks chunks that MUST NOT be bundled, but the spec
is silent on theire treatment. Thus, we'll leave their teatment
alone for the moment.

While processing OOTB chunks as well as chunks with an invalid
length of 0, it was possible to SCTP to get wedged inside an
infinite loop because we didn't catch the condition correctly,
or didn't mark the packet for discard correctly.

Explicitely discard OOTB chunks, whether the result is a
SHUTDOWN COMPLETE or an ABORT. We need to discard the OOTB
SHUTDOWN ACK to prevent bombing attackes since responsed
MUST NOT be bundled. We also explicietely discard in the
ABORT case since that function is widely used internally.

When SCTP client received an INIT ACK chunk with missing mandatory
parameter such as "cookie parameter", it will send back a ABORT
with T-bit not set and verification tag is set to 0.
This is because before we accept this INIT ACK chunk, we do not know
the peer's tag. This patch change to reflect vtag when responding to
INIT ACK with missing mandatory parameter.

When we process bundled chunks, we need to make sure that
the skb has the buffer for each header since we assume it's
always there. Some malicious node can send us something like
DATA + 2 bytes and we'll try to walk off the end refrencing
potentially uninitialized memory.

Since the sctp_sockaddr_entry is now RCU enabled as part of
the patch to synchronize sctp_localaddr_list, it makes sense to
change all handling of these entries to RCU. This includes the
sctp_bind_addrs structure and it's list of bound addresses.
This list is currently protected by an external rw_lock and that
looks like an overkill. There are only 2 writers to the list:
bind()/bindx() calls, and BH processing of ASCONF-ACK chunks.
These are already seriealized via the socket lock, so they will
not step on each other. These are also relatively rare, so we
should be good with RCU.
The readers are varied and they are easily converted to RCU.

sctp_localaddr_list is modified dynamically via NETDEV_UP
and NETDEV_DOWN events, but there is not synchronization
between writer (even handler) and readers. As a result,
the readers can access an entry that has been freed and
crash the sytem.

If an INIT with invalid parameter length look like this:

Currently we abort on the INIT chunk we our backlog is currenlty
exceeded. Delay this about untill COOKIE-ECHO to give the user
time to accept the socket. Also, make sure that we treat
sk_max_backlog of 0 as no connections allowed.

When performing a retransmit, do not include the chunk if
it was sent less then 1 rtt ago. The reason is that we
may receive the SACK very soon and wouldn't retransmit.

Do not set Unconfirmed transports to Inactive state. This may
result in an inactive association being destroyed since we start
counting errors on "inactive" transports against the association.

sctp_bindx() allows the use of unspecified port. The problem is
that every address we bind to ends up selecting a new port if
the user specified port 0. This patch allows re-use of the
already selected port when the port from bindx was 0.

When multi bundling SHUTDOWN-ACK message is received in ESTAB state,
this will cause "sctp protocol violation state" message print many times.
If SHUTDOWN-ACK is bundled 300 times in one packet, message will be
print 300 times. The same problem also exists when received unexpected
HEARTBEAT-ACK message which is bundled message times.
This patch used net_ratelimit() to suppress error messages print too fast.

PROTOCOL VIOLATION error cause in ABORT is bad encode when make abort
chunk. When SCTP encode ABORT chunk with PROTOCOL VIOLATION error cause,
it just add the error messages to PROTOCOL VIOLATION error cause, the
rest four bytes(struct sctp_paramhdr) is just add to the chunk, not
change the length of error cause. This cause the ABORT chunk to be a bad
format. The chunk is like this:

Currently we only assign the sequence number to a packet that
we are about to transmit. This however breaks the Partial
Reliability extensions, because it's possible for us to
never transmit a packet, i.e. it expires before we get to send
it. In such cases, if the message contained multiple SCTP
fragments, and we did manage to send the first part of the
message, the Stream sequence numbers would get into invalid
state and cause receiver to stall.

When we recieve a FWD-TSN (meaning the peer has abandoned the data),
we need to clean up any partially received messages that may be
hanging out on the re-assembly or re-ordering queues. This is
a MUST requirement that was not properly done before.

An accept() call on a SCTPv6 socket that returns due to connection of
a IPv4 mapped peer will fill out the 'struct sockaddr' with a zero
IPv6 address instead of the IPv4 mapped address of the peer.
This is due to the v4mapped flag not getting copied into the new
socket on accept() as well as a missing check for INET6 socket type in
sctp_v4_to_sk_*addr().

Slab destructors were no longer supported after Christoph's
c59def9f22 change. They've been
BUGs for both slab and slub, and slob never supported them
either.
This rips out support for the dtor pointer from kmem_cache_create()
completely and fixes up every single callsite in the kernel (there were
about 224, not including the slab allocator definitions themselves,
or the documentation references).

SCTP currently permits users to bind to link-local addresses,
but doesn't verify that the scope id specified at bind matches
the interface that the address is configured on. It was report
that this can hang a system.

In-kernel sockets created with sock_create_kern don't usually
have a file and file descriptor allocated to them. As a result,
when SCTP tries to check the non-blocking flag, we Oops when
dereferencing a NULL file pointer.

sctp_sock_migrate() grabs the socket lock on a newly allocated socket while
holding the socket lock on an old socket. lockdep worries that this might
be a recursive lock attempt.

This is the split out of the patch that we agreed I should split
out from my last patch. It changes space_left to be computed in the same
way the to variable is. I know we talked about changing space_left to an
int, but I think size_t is more appropriate, since we should never have
negative space in our buffer, and computing using offsetof means space_left
should now never drop below zero.

I noted the other day while looking at a bug that was ostensibly
in some perl networking library, that we strictly avoid allowing getsockopt
operations to complete if we pass in oversized buffers. This seems to make
libraries like Perl::NET malfunction since it seems to allocate oversized
buffers for use in several operations. It also seems to be out of line with
the way udp, tcp and ip getsockopt routines handle buffer input (since the
*optlen pointer in both an input and an output and gets set to the length
of the data that we copy into the buffer). This patch brings our getsockopt
helpers into line with other protocols, and allows us to accept oversized
buffers for our getsockopt operations. Tested by me with good results.

Right now, when we receive a mtu estimate smaller then minim
threshold in the ICMP message, we disable the path mtu discovery
on the transport. This leads to the never increasing sctp fragmentation
point even when the real path mtu has increased.

Currently, if the socket is owned by the user, we drop the ICMP
message. As a result SCTP forgets that path MTU changed and
never adjusting it's estimate. This causes all subsequent
packets to be fragmented. With this patch, we'll flag the association
that it needs to udpate it's estimate based on the already updated
routing information.

The socket API draft is unclear about whether to include the
chunk header or not. Recent discussion on the sctp implementors
mailing list clarified that the chunk header shouldn't be included,
but the error parameter header still needs to be there.

SCTP was checking for NULL when trying to detect hmac
allocation failure where it should have been using IS_ERR.
Also, print a rate limited warning to the log telling the
user what happend.

During the INIT/COOKIE-ACK collision cases, it's possible to get
into a situation where the association id is not yet set at the time
of the user event generation. As a result, user events have an
association id set to 0 which will confuse applications.
This happens if we hit case B of duplicate cookie processing.
In the particular example found and provided by Oscar Isaula
<Oscar.Isaula@motorola.com>, flow looks like this:

When the Cookie Echo is received, we end up trying to update the
association that was created on A as a result of the (lost) INIT,
but that association doesn't have the ID set yet.

not steal packets from each other.

Cleanup of dev_base list use, with the aim to simplify making device
list per-namespace. In almost every occasion, use of dev_base variable
and dev->next pointer could be easily replaced by for_each_netdev
loop. A few most complicated places were converted to using
first_netdev()/next_netdev().

sctp_getsockopt_local_addrs_old() in net/sctp/socket.c calls
copy_to_user() while the spinlock addr_lock is held. this should not
be done as copy_to_user() might sleep. the call to
sctp_copy_laddrs_to_user() while holding the lock is also problematic
as it calls copy_to_user()

When a transmitted packet is looped back directly, CHECKSUM_PARTIAL
maps to the semantics of CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY. Therefore we should
treat it as such in the stack.

As stated in the sctp socket api draft:
sac_info: variable
If the sac_state is SCTP_COMM_LOST and an ABORT chunk was received
for this association, sac_info[] contains the complete ABORT chunk as
defined in the SCTP specification RFC2960 [RFC2960] section 3.3.7.
We now save received ABORT chunks into the sac_info field and pass that
to the user.

This option induces partial delivery to run as soon
as the specified amount of data has been accumulated on
the association. However, we give preference to fully
reassembled messages over PD messages. In any case,
window and buffer is freed up.

This option was introduced in draft-ietf-tsvwg-sctpsocket-13. It
prevents head-of-line blocking in the case of one-to-many endpoint.
Applications enabling this option really must enable SCTP_SNDRCV event
so that they would know where the data belongs. Based on an
earlier patch by Ivan Skytte Jørgensen.
Additionally, this functionality now permits multiple associations
on the same endpoint to enter Partial Delivery. Applications should
be extra careful, when using this functionality, to track EOR indicators.

So that it is also an offset from skb->head, reduces its size from 8 to 4 bytes
on 64bit architectures, allowing us to combine the 4 bytes hole left by the
layer headers conversion, reducing struct sk_buff size to 256 bytes, i.e. 4
64byte cachelines, and since the sk_buff slab cache is SLAB_HWCACHE_ALIGN...
:-)
Many calculations that previously required that skb->{transport,network,
mac}_header be first converted to a pointer now can be done directly, being
meaningful as offsets or pointers.

Now the skb->nh union has just one member, .raw, i.e. it is just like the
skb->mac union, strange, no? I'm just leaving it like that till the transport
layer is done with, when we'll rename skb->mac.raw to skb->mac_header (or
->mac_header_offset?), ditto for ->{h,nh}.

The way partial delivery is currently implemnted, it is possible to
intereleave a message (either from another steram, or unordered) that
is not part of partial delivery process. The only way to this is for
a message to not be a fragment and be 'in order' or unorderd for a
given stream. This will result in bypassing the reassembly/ordering
queues where things live duing partial delivery, and the
message will be delivered to the socket in the middle of partial delivery.
This is a two-fold problem, in that:
1. the app now must check the stream-id and flags which it may not
be doing.
2. this clearing partial delivery state from the association and results
in ulp hanging.
This patch is a band-aid over a much bigger problem in that we
don't do stream interleave.

During the sctp_bindx() call to add additional addresses to the
endpoint, any v4mapped addresses are converted and stored as regular
v4 addresses. However, when trying to remove these addresses, the
v4mapped addresses are not converted and the operation fails. This
patch unmaps the addresses on during the remove operation as well.

In current implementation, LKSCTP does receive buffer accounting for
data in sctp_receive_queue and pd_lobby. However, LKSCTP don't do
accounting for data in frag_list when data is fragmented. In addition,
LKSCTP doesn't do accounting for data in reasm and lobby queue in
structure sctp_ulpq.
When there are date in these queue, assertion failed message is printed
in inet_sock_destruct because sk_rmem_alloc of oldsk does not become 0
when socket is destroyed.

If the association has been restarted, we need to reset the
transport congestion variables as well as accumulated error
counts and CACC variables. If we do not, the association
will use the wrong values and may terminate prematurely.
This was found with a scenario where the peer restarted
the association when lksctp was in the last HB timeout for
its association. The restart happened, but the error counts
have not been reset and when the timeout occurred, a newly
restarted association was terminated due to excessive
retransmits.

D) Request an on-demand HEARTBEAT on a specific destination transport
address of a given association.
The endpoint should increment the respective error counter of the
destination transport address each time a HEARTBEAT is sent to that
address and not acknowledged within one RTO.

During association restart we may have stale data sitting
on the ULP queue waiting for ordering or reassembly. This
data may cause severe problems if not cleaned up. In particular
stale data pending ordering may cause problems with receive
window exhaustion if our peer has decided to restart the
association.

lockdep found that dev->lock taken from softirq in ipv6_add_addr
is also taken in sctp_v6_copy_addrlist with softirqs enabled, so
lockup is possible.

Once we reach a point where we exceed the max.path.retrans, strike the
transport before updating the rto. This will force transport switch at
the right time, instead of 1 retransmit too late.

The problem that this patch corrects happens when all of the following
conditions are satisfisfied:
1. PR-SCTP is used and the timeout on the chunks is set below RTO.Max.
2. One of the paths on a multihomed associations is brought down.
In this scenario, data will expire within the rto of the initial
transmission and will never be retransmitted. However this data still
fills the send buffer and is counted against the association as outstanding
data. This causes any new data not to be sent and retransmission to not
happen.
The fix is to discount the abandoned data from the outstanding count and
peers rwnd estimation. This allows new data to be sent and a retransmission
timer restarted. Even though this new data will most likely expire within
the rto, the timer still counts as a strike against the transport and forces
the FORWARD-TSN chunk to be retransmitted as well.

The semantic effect of insert_at_head is that it would allow new registered
sysctl entries to override existing sysctl entries of the same name. Which is
pain for caching and the proc interface never implemented.
I have done an audit and discovered that none of the current users of
register_sysctl care as (excpet for directories) they do not register
duplicate sysctl entries.
So this patch simply removes the support for overriding existing entries in
the sys_sysctl interface since no one uses it or cares and it makes future
enhancments harder.

After Al Viro (finally) succeeded in removing the sched.h #include in module.h
recently, it makes sense again to remove other superfluous sched.h includes.
There are quite a lot of files which include it but don't actually need
anything defined in there. Presumably these includes were once needed for
macros that used to live in sched.h, but moved to other header files in the
course of cleaning it up.
To ease the pain, this time I did not fiddle with any header files and only
removed #includes from .c-files, which tend to cause less trouble.
Compile tested against 2.6.20-rc2 and 2.6.20-rc2-mm2 (with offsets) on alpha,
arm, i386, ia64, mips, powerpc, and x86_64 with allnoconfig, defconfig,
allmodconfig, and allyesconfig as well as a few randconfigs on x86_64 and all
configs in arch/arm/configs on arm. I also checked that no new warnings were
introduced by the patch (actually, some warnings are removed that were emitted
by unnecessarily included header files).

Many struct file_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const
moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential
dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to
these shared resources.
