timespec is deprecated because of the y2038 overflow, so let's convert
this one to ktime_get_ts64(). The code is already safe even on 32-bit
architectures, since it uses monotonic times. On 64-bit architectures,
nothing changes, while on 32-bit architectures this avoids one
type conversion.

If we want to add a datapath flow, which has more than 500 vxlan outputs'
action, we will get the following error reports:
openvswitch: netlink: Flow action size 32832 bytes exceeds max
openvswitch: netlink: Flow action size 32832 bytes exceeds max
openvswitch: netlink: Actions may not be safe on all matching packets
... ...
It seems that we can simply enlarge the MAX_ACTIONS_BUFSIZE to fix it, but
this is not the root cause. For example, for a vxlan output action, we need
about 60 bytes for the nlattr, but after it is converted to the flow
action, it only occupies 24 bytes. This means that we can still support
more than 1000 vxlan output actions for a single datapath flow under the
the current 32k max limitation.
So even if the nla_len(attr) is larger than MAX_ACTIONS_BUFSIZE, we
shouldn't report EINVAL and keep it move on, as the judgement can be
done by the reserve_sfa_size.

gso_type is being used in binary AND operations together with SKB_GSO_UDP.
The issue is that variable gso_type is of type unsigned short and
SKB_GSO_UDP expands to more than 16 bits:
SKB_GSO_UDP = 1 << 16
this makes any binary AND operation between gso_type and SKB_GSO_UDP to
be always zero, hence making some code unreachable and likely causing
undesired behavior.
Fix this by changing the data type of variable gso_type to unsigned int.

Tuntap and similar devices can inject GSO packets. Accept type
VIRTIO_NET_HDR_GSO_UDP, even though not generating UFO natively.
Processes are expected to use feature negotiation such as TUNSETOFFLOAD
to detect supported offload types and refrain from injecting other
packets. This process breaks down with live migration: guest kernels
do not renegotiate flags, so destination hosts need to expose all
features that the source host does.
Partially revert the UFO removal from 182e0b6b5846~1..d9d30adf5677.
This patch introduces nearly(*) no new code to simplify verification.
It brings back verbatim tuntap UFO negotiation, VIRTIO_NET_HDR_GSO_UDP
insertion and software UFO segmentation.
It does not reinstate protocol stack support, hardware offload
(NETIF_F_UFO), SKB_GSO_UDP tunneling in SKB_GSO_SOFTWARE or reception
of VIRTIO_NET_HDR_GSO_UDP packets in tuntap.
To support SKB_GSO_UDP reappearing in the stack, also reinstate
logic in act_csum and openvswitch. Achieve equivalence with v4.13 HEAD
by squashing in commit 939912216f ("net: skb_needs_check() removes
CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY check for tx.") and reverting commit 8d63bee643
("net: avoid skb_warn_bad_offload false positives on UFO").
(*) To avoid having to bring back skb_shinfo(skb)->ip6_frag_id,
ipv6_proxy_select_ident is changed to return a __be32 and this is
assigned directly to the frag_hdr. Also, SKB_GSO_UDP is inserted
at the end of the enum to minimize code churn.
Tested
Booted a v4.13 guest kernel with QEMU. On a host kernel before this
patch `ethtool -k eth0` shows UFO disabled. After the patch, it is
enabled, same as on a v4.13 host kernel.
A UFO packet sent from the guest appears on the tap device:
host:
nc -l -p -u 8000 &
tcpdump -n -i tap0
guest:
dd if=/dev/zero of=payload.txt bs=1 count=2000
nc -u 192.16.1.1 8000 < payload.txt
Direct tap to tap transmission of VIRTIO_NET_HDR_GSO_UDP succeeds,
packets arriving fragmented:
./with_tap_pair.sh ./tap_send_ufo tap0 tap1

This patch allows reliable identification of netdevice interfaces connected
to openvswitch bridges. In particular, user space queries the netdev
interfaces belonging to the ports for statistics, up/down state, etc.
Datapath dump needs to provide enough information for the user space to be
able to do that.
Currently, only interface names are returned. This is not sufficient, as
openvswitch allows its ports to be in different name spaces and the
interface name is valid only in its name space. What is needed and generally
used in other netlink APIs, is the pair ifindex+netnsid.
The solution is addition of the ifindex+netnsid pair (or only ifindex if in
the same name space) to vport get/dump operation.
On request side, ideally the ifindex+netnsid pair could be used to
get/set/del the corresponding vport. This is not implemented by this patch
and can be added later if needed.

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 11139
and resulted in the first patch in this series.
If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930
and resulted in the second patch in this series.
- if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1
and that resulted in the third patch in this series.
- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

Netfilter updates for net-next
The following patchset contains Netfilter updates for your net-next
tree. Basically, updates to the conntrack core, enhancements for
nf_tables, conversion of netfilter hooks from linked list to array to
improve memory locality and asorted improvements for the Netfilter
codebase. More specifically, they are:
1) Add expection to hashes after timer initialization to prevent
access from another CPU that walks on the hashes and calls
del_timer(), from Florian Westphal.
2) Don't update nf_tables chain counters from hot path, this is only
used by the x_tables compatibility layer.
3) Get rid of nested rcu_read_lock() calls from netfilter hook path.
Hooks are always guaranteed to run from rcu read side, so remove
nested rcu_read_lock() where possible. Patch from Taehee Yoo.
4) nf_tables new ruleset generation notifications include PID and name
of the process that has updated the ruleset, from Phil Sutter.
5) Use skb_header_pointer() from nft_fib, so we can reuse this code from
the nf_family netdev family. Patch from Pablo M. Bermudo.
6) Add support for nft_fib in nf_tables netdev family, also from Pablo.
7) Use deferrable workqueue for conntrack garbage collection, to reduce
power consumption, from Patch from Subash Abhinov Kasiviswanathan.
8) Add nf_ct_expect_iterate_net() helper and use it. From Florian
Westphal.
9) Call nf_ct_unconfirmed_destroy only from cttimeout, from Florian.
10) Drop references on conntrack removal path when skbuffs has escaped via
nfqueue, from Florian.
11) Don't queue packets to nfqueue with dying conntrack, from Florian.
12) Constify nf_hook_ops structure, from Florian.
13) Remove neededlessly branch in nf_tables trace code, from Phil Sutter.
14) Add nla_strdup(), from Phil Sutter.
15) Rise nf_tables objects name size up to 255 chars, people want to use
DNS names, so increase this according to what RFC 1035 specifies.
Patch series from Phil Sutter.
16) Kill nf_conntrack_default_on, it's broken. Default on conntrack hook
registration on demand, suggested by Eric Dumazet, patch from Florian.
17) Remove unused variables in compat_copy_entry_from_user both in
ip_tables and arp_tables code. Patch from Taehee Yoo.
18) Constify struct nf_conntrack_l4proto, from Julia Lawall.
19) Constify nf_loginfo structure, also from Julia.
20) Use a single rb root in connlimit, from Taehee Yoo.
21) Remove unused netfilter_queue_init() prototype, from Taehee Yoo.
22) Use audit_log() instead of open-coding it, from Geliang Tang.
23) Allow to mangle tcp options via nft_exthdr, from Florian.
24) Allow to fetch TCP MSS from nft_rt, from Florian. This includes
a fix for a miscalculation of the minimal length.
25) Simplify branch logic in h323 helper, from Nick Desaulniers.
26) Calculate netlink attribute size for conntrack tuple at compile
time, from Florian.
27) Remove protocol name field from nf_conntrack_{l3,l4}proto structure.
From Florian.
28) Remove holes in nf_conntrack_l4proto structure, so it becomes
smaller. From Florian.
29) Get rid of print_tuple() indirection for /proc conntrack listing.
Place all the code in net/netfilter/nf_conntrack_standalone.c.
Patch from Florian.
30) Do not built in print_conntrack() if CONFIG_NF_CONNTRACK_PROCFS is
off. From Florian.
31) Constify most nf_conntrack_{l3,l4}proto helper functions, from
Florian.
32) Fix broken indentation in ebtables extensions, from Colin Ian King.
33) Fix several harmless sparse warning, from Florian.
34) Convert netfilter hook infrastructure to use array for better memory
locality, joint work done by Florian and Aaron Conole. Moreover, add
some instrumentation to debug this.
35) Batch nf_unregister_net_hooks() calls, to call synchronize_net once
per batch, from Florian.
36) Get rid of noisy logging in ICMPv6 conntrack helper, from Florian.
37) Get rid of obsolete NFDEBUG() instrumentation, from Varsha Rao.
38) Remove unused code in the generic protocol tracker, from Davide

Also we can find that the actions_len is much little than the orig_len:
crash> struct sw_flow_actions 0xffff8812f539d000
struct sw_flow_actions {

},
orig_len = 1384,
actions_len = 592,
actions = 0xffff8812f539d01c
}
So as a quick fix, use the orig_len instead of the actions_len to alloc
the user_skb.
Last, this oops happened on our system running a relative old kernel, but
the same risk still exists on the mainline, since we use the wrong
actions_len from the beginning.

When calling the flow_free() to free the flow, we call many times
(cpu_possible_mask, eg. 128 as default) cpumask_next(). That will
take up our CPU usage if we call the flow_free() frequently.
When we put all packets to userspace via upcall, and OvS will send
them back via netlink to ovs_packet_cmd_execute(will call flow_free).
The test topo is shown as below. VM01 sends TCP packets to VM02,
and OvS forward packtets. When testing, we use perf to report the
system performance.

With this patch, the TCP throughput(we dont use Megaflow Cache
+ Microflow Cache) between VMs is 1.18Gbs/sec up to 1.30Gbs/sec
(maybe ~10% performance imporve).
This patch adds cpumask struct, the cpu_used_mask stores the cpu_id
that the flow used. And we only check the flow_stats on the cpu we
used, and it is unncessary to check all possible cpu when getting,
cleaning, and updating the flow_stats. Adding the cpu_used_mask to
sw_flow struct does’t increase the cacheline number.

When there is an established connection in direction A->B, it is
possible to receive a packet on port B which then executes
ct(commit, force) without first performing ct() - ie, a lookup.
In this case, we would expect that this packet can delete the existing
entry so that we can commit a connection with direction B->A. However,
currently we only perform a check in skb_nfct_cached() for whether
OVS_CS_F_TRACKED is set and OVS_CS_F_INVALID is not set, ie that a
lookup previously occurred. In the above scenario, a lookup has not
occurred but we should still be able to statelessly look up the
existing entry and potentially delete the entry if it is in the
opposite direction.
This patch extends the check to also hint that if the action has the
force flag set, then we will lookup the existing entry so that the
force check at the end of skb_nfct_cached has the ability to delete
the connection.

Switches and modern SR-IOV enabled NICs may multiplex traffic from Port
representators and control messages over single set of hardware queues.
Control messages and muxed traffic may need ordered delivery.
Those requirements make it hard to comfortably use TC infrastructure today
unless we have a way of attaching metadata to skbs at the upper device.
Because single set of queues is used for many netdevs stopping TC/sched
queues of all of them reliably is impossible and lower device has to
retreat to returning NETDEV_TX_BUSY and usually has to take extra locks on
the fastpath.
This patch attempts to enable port/representative devs to attach metadata
to skbs which carry port id. This way representatives can be queueless and
all queuing can be performed at the lower netdev in the usual way.
Traffic arriving on the port/representative interfaces will be have
metadata attached and will subsequently be queued to the lower device for
transmission. The lower device should recognize the metadata and translate
it to HW specific format which is most likely either a special header
inserted before the network headers or descriptor/metadata fields.
Metadata is associated with the lower device by storing the netdev pointer
along with port id so that if TC decides to redirect or mirror the new
netdev will not try to interpret it.
This is mostly for SR-IOV devices since switches don't have lower netdevs
today.

Network devices can allocate reasources and private memory using
netdev_ops->ndo_init(). However, the release of these resources
can occur in one of two different places.
Either netdev_ops->ndo_uninit() or netdev->destructor().
The decision of which operation frees the resources depends upon
whether it is necessary for all netdev refs to be released before it
is safe to perform the freeing.
netdev_ops->ndo_uninit() presumably can occur right after the
NETDEV_UNREGISTER notifier completes and the unicast and multicast
address lists are flushed.
netdev->destructor(), on the other hand, does not run until the
netdev references all go away.
Further complicating the situation is that netdev->destructor()
almost universally does also a free_netdev().
This creates a problem for the logic in register_netdevice().
Because all callers of register_netdevice() manage the freeing
of the netdev, and invoke free_netdev(dev) if register_netdevice()
fails.
If netdev_ops->ndo_init() succeeds, but something else fails inside
of register_netdevice(), it does call ndo_ops->ndo_uninit(). But
it is not able to invoke netdev->destructor().
This is because netdev->destructor() will do a free_netdev() and
then the caller of register_netdevice() will do the same.
However, this means that the resources that would normally be released
by netdev->destructor() will not be.
Over the years drivers have added local hacks to deal with this, by
invoking their destructor parts by hand when register_netdevice()
fails.
Many drivers do not try to deal with this, and instead we have leaks.
Let's close this hole by formalizing the distinction between what
private things need to be freed up by netdev->destructor() and whether
the driver needs unregister_netdevice() to perform the free_netdev().
netdev->priv_destructor() performs all actions to free up the private
resources that used to be freed by netdev->destructor(), except for
free_netdev().
netdev->needs_free_netdev is a boolean that indicates whether
free_netdev() should be done at the end of unregister_netdevice().
Now, register_netdevice() can sanely release all resources after
ndo_ops->ndo_init() succeeds, by invoking both ndo_ops->ndo_uninit()
and netdev->priv_destructor().
And at the end of unregister_netdevice(), we invoke
netdev->priv_destructor() and optionally call free_netdev().

Make sure userspace conntrack helper doesn't go over that size.
Remove variable size ct extension infrastructure now this code
got no more clients. From Florian Westphal.
27) Restore offset and length of nf_ct_ext structure to 8 bytes now

32) Use pernet hook whenever possible, instead of global hook
registration, from Florian Westphal.
33) Pass hook structure to ebt_register_table() to consolidate some
infrastructure code, from Florian Westphal.

don't need anymore if we just select a fixed size instead of
expensive runtime time calculation of this. From Florian.

Conntrack helpers do not check for a potentially clashing conntrack
entry when creating a new expectation. Also, nf_conntrack_in() will
check expectations (via init_conntrack()) only if a conntrack entry
can not be found. The expectation for a packet which also matches an
existing conntrack entry will not be removed by conntrack, and is
currently handled inconsistently by OVS, as OVS expects the
expectation to be removed when the connection tracking entry matching
that expectation is confirmed.
It should be noted that normally an IP stack would not allow reuse of
a 5-tuple of an old (possibly lingering) connection for a new data
connection, so this is somewhat unlikely corner case. However, it is
possible that a misbehaving source could cause conntrack entries be
created that could then interfere with new related connections.
Fix this in the OVS module by deleting the clashing conntrack entry
after an expectation has been matched. This causes the following
nf_conntrack_in() call also find the expectation and remove it when
creating the new conntrack entry, as well as the forthcoming reply
direction packets to match the new related connection instead of the
old clashing conntrack entry.

(OVS_CT_ATTR_COMMIT) to set the mask of bits specifying which
conntrack events (IPCT_*) should be delivered via the Netfilter

configuration, but typically a lot of events are delivered. This can be
very chatty for the NFNLGRP_CONNTRACK_UPDATE group, even if only some
types of events are of interest.
Netfilter core init_conntrack() adds the event cache extension, so we
only need to set the ctmask value. However, if the system is
configured without support for events, the setting will be skipped due
to extension not being found.

With the introduction of open flow 'clone' action, the OVS user space
can now translate the 'clone' action into kernel datapath 'sample'
action, with 100% probability, to ensure that the clone semantics,
which is that the packet seen by the clone action is the same as the
packet seen by the action after clone, is faithfully carried out
in the datapath.
While the sample action in the datpath has the matching semantics,
its implementation is only optimized for its original use.
Specifically, there are two limitation: First, there is a 3 level of
nesting restriction, enforced at the flow downloading time. This
limit turns out to be too restrictive for the 'clone' use case.
Second, the implementation avoid recursive call only if the sample
action list has a single userspace action.
The main optimization implemented in this series removes the static
nesting limit check, instead, implement the run time recursion limit
check, and recursion avoidance similar to that of the 'recirc' action.
This optimization solve both #1 and #2 issues above.
One related optimization attempts to avoid copying flow key as
long as the actions enclosed does not change the flow key. The
detection is performed only once at the flow downloading time.
Another related optimization is to rewrite the action list
at flow downloading time in order to save the fast path from parsing
the sample action list in its original form repeatedly.

Stateful network admission policy may allow connections to one
direction and reject connections initiated in the other direction.
After policy change it is possible that for a new connection an
overlapping conntrack entry already exists, where the original
direction of the existing connection is opposed to the new
connection's initial packet.
Most importantly, conntrack state relating to the current packet gets
the "reply" designation based on whether the original direction tuple
or the reply direction tuple matched. If this "directionality" is
wrong w.r.t. to the stateful network admission policy it may happen
that packets in neither direction are correctly admitted.
This patch adds a new "force commit" option to the OVS conntrack
action that checks the original direction of an existing conntrack
entry. If that direction is opposed to the current packet, the
existing conntrack entry is deleted and a new one is subsequently
created in the correct direction.

Add the fields of the conntrack original direction 5-tuple to struct
sw_flow_key. The new fields are initially marked as non-existent, and
are populated whenever a conntrack action is executed and either finds
or generates a conntrack entry. This means that these fields exist
for all packets that were not rejected by conntrack as untrackable.
The original tuple fields in the sw_flow_key are filled from the
original direction tuple of the conntrack entry relating to the
current packet, or from the original direction tuple of the master
conntrack entry, if the current conntrack entry has a master.
Generally, expected connections of connections having an assigned
helper (e.g., FTP), have a master conntrack entry.
The main purpose of the new conntrack original tuple fields is to
allow matching on them for policy decision purposes, with the premise
that the admissibility of tracked connections reply packets (as well
as original direction packets), and both direction packets of any
related connections may be based on ACL rules applying to the master
connection's original direction 5-tuple. This also makes it easier to
make policy decisions when the actual packet headers might have been
transformed by NAT, as the original direction 5-tuple represents the
packet headers before any such transformation.
When using the original direction 5-tuple the admissibility of return
and/or related packets need not be based on the mere existence of a
conntrack entry, allowing separation of admission policy from the
established conntrack state. While existence of a conntrack entry is
required for admission of the return or related packets, policy
changes can render connections that were initially admitted to be
rejected or dropped afterwards. If the admission of the return and
related packets was based on mere conntrack state (e.g., connection
being in an established state), a policy change that would make the
connection rejected or dropped would need to find and delete all
conntrack entries affected by such a change. When using the original
direction 5-tuple matching the affected conntrack entries can be
allowed to time out instead, as the established state of the
connection would not need to be the basis for packet admission any
more.
It should be noted that the directionality of related connections may
be the same or different than that of the master connection, and
neither the original direction 5-tuple nor the conntrack state bits
carry this information. If needed, the directionality of the master
connection can be stored in master's conntrack mark or labels, which
are automatically inherited by the expected related connections.
The fact that neither ARP nor ND packets are trackable by conntrack
allows mutual exclusion between ARP/ND and the new conntrack original
tuple fields. Hence, the IP addresses are overlaid in union with ARP
and ND fields. This allows the sw_flow_key to not grow much due to
this patch, but it also means that we must be careful to never use the
new key fields with ARP or ND packets. ARP is easy to distinguish and
keep mutually exclusive based on the ethernet type, but ND being an
ICMPv6 protocol requires a bit more attention.

We avoid calling into nf_conntrack_in() for expected connections, as
that would remove the expectation that we want to stick around until
we are ready to commit the connection. Instead, we do a lookup in the
expectation table directly. However, after a successful expectation
lookup we have set the flow key label field from the master
connection, whereas nf_conntrack_in() does not do this. This leads to
master's labels being inherited after an expectation lookup, but those
labels not being inherited after the corresponding conntrack action
with a commit flag.
This patch resolves the problem by changing the commit code path to
also inherit the master's labels to the expected connection.
Resolving this conflict in favor of inheriting the labels allows more
information be passed from the master connection to related
connections, which would otherwise be much harder if the 32 bits in
the connmark are not enough. Labels can still be set explicitly, so
this change only affects the default values of the labels in presense
of a master connection.

The conntrack lookup for existing connections fails to invert the
packet 5-tuple for NATted packets, and therefore fails to find the
existing conntrack entry. Conntrack only stores 5-tuples for incoming
packets, and there are various situations where a lookup on a packet
that has already been transformed by NAT needs to be made. Looking up
an existing conntrack entry upon executing packet received from the
userspace is one of them.
This patch fixes ovs_ct_find_existing() to invert the packet 5-tuple

tree, they are:
1) Stash ctinfo 3-bit field into pointer to nf_conntrack object from
sk_buff so we only access one single cacheline in the conntrack
hotpath. Patchset from Florian Westphal.
2) Don't leak pointer to internal structures when exporting x_tables

helper functions to copy data to userspace such as xt_data_to_user()
as well as conversions of our ip_tables, ip6_tables and arp_tables
clients to use it. Not surprinsingly, ebtables requires an ad-hoc
update. There is also a new field in x_tables extensions to indicate
the amount of bytes that we copy to userspace.
3) Add nf_log_all_netns sysctl: This new knob allows you to enable
logging via nf_log infrastructure for all existing netnamespaces.
Given the effort to provide pernet syslog has been discontinued,
let's provide a way to restore logging using netfilter kernel logging
facilities in trusted environments. Patch from Michal Kubecek.
4) Validate SCTP checksum from conntrack helper, from Davide Caratti.
5) Merge UDPlite conntrack and NAT helpers into UDP, this was mostly
a copy&paste from the original helper, from Florian Westphal.
6) Reset netfilter state when duplicating packets, also from Florian.
7) Remove unnecessary check for broadcast in IPv6 in pkttype match and
nft_meta, from Liping Zhang.
8) Add missing code to deal with loopback packets from nft_meta when
used by the netdev family, also from Liping.
9) Several cleanups on nf_tables, one to remove unnecessary check from
the netlink control plane path to add table, set and stateful objects
and code consolidation when unregister chain hooks, from Gao Feng.
10) Fix harmless reference counter underflow in IPVS that, however,
results in problems with the introduction of the new refcount_t
type, from David Windsor.
11) Enable LIBCRC32C from nf_ct_sctp instead of nf_nat_sctp,

Make struct pernet_operations::id unsigned.
There are 2 reasons to do so:
1)
This field is really an index into an zero based array and
thus is unsigned entity. Using negative value is out-of-bound
access by definition.
2)
On x86_64 unsigned 32-bit data which are mixed with pointers
via array indexing or offsets added or subtracted to pointers
are preffered to signed 32-bit data.
"int" being used as an array index needs to be sign-extended
to 64-bit before being used.
void f(long *p, int i)
{
g(p[i]);
}
roughly translates to
movsx rsi, esi
mov rdi, [rsi+...]
call g
MOVSX is 3 byte instruction which isn't necessary if the variable is
unsigned because x86_64 is zero extending by default.
Now, there is net_generic() function which, you guessed it right, uses
"int" as an array index:
static inline void *net_generic(const struct net *net, int id)
{
...
ptr = ng->ptr[id - 1];
...
}
And this function is used a lot, so those sign extensions add up.
Patch snipes ~1730 bytes on allyesconfig kernel (without all junk
messing with code generation):
add/remove: 0/0 grow/shrink: 70/598 up/down: 396/-2126 (-1730)
Unfortunately some functions actually grow bigger.
This is a semmingly random artefact of code generation with register
allocator being used differently. gcc decides that some variable
needs to live in new r8+ registers and every access now requires REX
prefix. Or it is shifted into r12, so [r12+0] addressing mode has to be
used which is longer than [r8]
However, overall balance is in negative direction:

Netfilter updates for net-next
The following patchset contains a second batch of Netfilter updates for
your net-next tree. This includes a rework of the core hook
infrastructure that improves Netfilter performance by ~15% according to
synthetic benchmarks. Then, a large batch with ipset updates, including
a new hash:ipmac set type, via Jozsef Kadlecsik. This also includes a
couple of assorted updates.
Regarding the core hook infrastructure rework to improve performance,
using this simple drop-all packets ruleset from ingress:
nft add table netdev x
nft add chain netdev x y { type filter hook ingress device eth0 priority 0\; }
nft add rule netdev x y drop
And generating traffic through Jesper Brouer's
samples/pktgen/pktgen_bench_xmit_mode_netif_receive.sh script using -i
option. perf report shows nf_tables calls in its top 10:
17.30% kpktgend_0 [nf_tables] [k] nft_do_chain
15.75% kpktgend_0 [kernel.vmlinux] [k] __netif_receive_skb_core
10.39% kpktgend_0 [nf_tables_netdev] [k] nft_do_chain_netdev
I'm measuring here an improvement of ~15% in performance with this
patchset, so we got +2.5Mpps more. I have used my old laptop Intel(R)
Core(TM) i5-3320M CPU @ 2.60GHz 4-cores.
This rework contains more specifically, in strict order, these patches:
1) Remove compile-time debugging from core.
2) Remove obsolete comments that predate the rcu era. These days it is
well known that a Netfilter hook always runs under rcu_read_lock().
3) Remove threshold handling, this is only used by br_netfilter too.
We already have specific code to handle this from br_netfilter,
so remove this code from the core path.
4) Deprecate NF_STOP, as this is only used by br_netfilter.
5) Place nf_state_hook pointer into xt_action_param structure, so
this structure fits into one single cacheline according to pahole.
This also implicit affects nftables since it also relies on the
xt_action_param structure.
6) Move state->hook_entries into nf_queue entry. The hook_entries
pointer is only required by nf_queue(), so we can store this in the
queue entry instead.
7) use switch() statement to handle verdict cases.
8) Remove hook_entries field from nf_hook_state structure, this is only
required by nf_queue, so store it in nf_queue_entry structure.
9) Merge nf_iterate() into nf_hook_slow() that results in a much more
simple and readable function.
10) Handle NF_REPEAT away from the core, so far the only client is
nf_conntrack_in() and we can restart the packet processing using a
simple goto to jump back there when the TCP requires it.
This update required a second pass to fix fallout, fix from
Arnd Bergmann.
11) Set random seed from nft_hash when no seed is specified from
userspace.
12) Simplify nf_tables expression registration, in a much smarter way
to save lots of boiler plate code, by Liping Zhang.
13) Simplify layer 4 protocol conntrack tracker registration, from
Davide Caratti.
14) Missing CONFIG_NF_SOCKET_IPV4 dependency for udp4_lib_lookup, due
to recent generalization of the socket infrastructure, from Arnd
Bergmann.
15) Then, the ipset batch from Jozsef, he describes it as it follows:
* Cleanup: Remove extra whitespaces in ip_set.h
* Cleanup: Mark some of the helpers arguments as const in ip_set.h
* Cleanup: Group counter helper functions together in ip_set.h
* struct ip_set_skbinfo is introduced instead of open coded fields
in skbinfo get/init helper funcions.
* Use kmalloc() in comment extension helper instead of kzalloc()
because it is unnecessary to zero out the area just before
explicit initialization.
* Cleanup: Split extensions into separate files.
* Cleanup: Separate memsize calculation code into dedicated function.
* Cleanup: group ip_set_put_extensions() and ip_set_get_extensions()
together.
* Add element count to hash headers by Eric B Munson.
* Add element count to all set types header for uniform output
across all set types.
* Count non-static extension memory into memsize calculation for
userspace.
* Cleanup: Remove redundant mtype_expire() arguments, because
they can be get from other parameters.
* Cleanup: Simplify mtype_expire() for hash types by removing
one level of intendation.
* Make NLEN compile time constant for hash types.
* Make sure element data size is a multiple of u32 for the hash set
types.
* Optimize hash creation routine, exit as early as possible.
* Make struct htype per ipset family so nets array becomes fixed size
and thus simplifies the struct htype allocation.
* Collapse same condition body into a single one.
* Fix reported memory size for hash:* types, base hash bucket structure
was not taken into account.
* hash:ipmac type support added to ipset by Tomasz Chilinski.
* Use setup_timer() and mod_timer() instead of init_timer()
by Muhammad Falak R Wani, individually for the set type families.
16) Remove useless connlabel field in struct netns_ct, patch from
Florian Westphal.
17) xt_find_table_lock() doesn't return ERR_PTR() anymore, so simplify
{ip,ip6,arp}tables code that uses this.

Extend the ovs flow netlink protocol to support L3 packets. Packets without
OVS_KEY_ATTR_ETHERNET attribute specify L3 packets; for those, the
OVS_KEY_ATTR_ETHERTYPE attribute is mandatory.
Push/pop vlan actions are only supported for Ethernet packets.

We'll need it to alter packets sent to ARPHRD_NONE interfaces.
Change do_output() to use the actual L2 header size of the packet when
deciding on the minimum cutlen. The assumption here is that what matters is
not the output interface hard_header_len but rather the L2 header of the
particular packet. For example, ARPHRD_NONE tunnels that encapsulate
Ethernet should get at least the Ethernet header.

Use a hole in the structure. We support only Ethernet so far and will add
a support for L2-less packets shortly. We could use a bool to indicate
whether the Ethernet header is present or not but the approach with the
mac_proto field is more generic and occupies the same number of bytes in the
struct, while allowing later extensibility. It also makes the code in the
next patches more self explaining.
It would be nice to use ARPHRD_ constants but those are u16 which would be
waste. Thus define our own constants.
Another upside of this is that we can overload this new field to also denote
whether the flow key is valid. This has the advantage that on
refragmentation, we don't have to reparse the packet but can rely on the
stored eth.type. This is especially important for the next patches in this
series - instead of adding another branch for L2-less packets before calling
ovs_fragment, we can just remove all those branches completely.

On tx, use hard_header_len while deciding whether to refragment or drop the
packet. That way, all combinations are calculated correctly:
* L2 packet going to L2 interface (the L2 header len is subtracted),
* L2 packet going to L3 interface (the L2 header is included in the packet
lenght),
* L3 packet going to L3 interface.

Now genl_register_family() is the only thing (other than the

writing to the family struct.
In all families that I found, genl_register_family() is only
called from __init functions (some indirectly, in which case
I've add __init annotations to clarifly things), so all can
actually be marked __ro_after_init.

Static family IDs have never really been used, the only
use case was the workaround I introduced for those users
that assumed their family ID was also their multicast
group ID.
Additionally, because static family IDs would never be
reserved by the generic netlink code, using a relatively
low ID would only work for built-in families that can be
registered immediately after generic netlink is started,
which is basically only the control family (apart from
the workaround code, which I also had to add code for so
it would reserve those IDs)
Thus, anything other than GENL_ID_GENERATE is flawed and
luckily not used except in the cases I mentioned. Move
those workarounds into a few lines of code, and then get
rid of GENL_ID_GENERATE entirely, making it more robust.

The ovs kernel data path currently defers the execution of all
recirc actions until stack utilization is at a minimum.
This is too limiting for some packet forwarding scenarios due to
the small size of the deferred action FIFO (10 entries). For
example, broadcast traffic sent out more than 10 ports with
recirculation results in packet drops when the deferred action
FIFO becomes full, as reported here:
http://openvswitch.org/pipermail/dev/2016-March/067672.html
Since the current recursion depth is available (it is already tracked
by the exec_actions_level pcpu variable), we can use it to determine
whether to execute recirculation actions immediately (safe when
recursion depth is low) or defer execution until more stack space is
available.
With this change, the deferred action fifo size becomes a non-issue
for currently failing scenarios because it is no longer used when
there are three or fewer recursions through ovs_execute_actions().

As reported by Lennert the MPLS GSO code is failing to properly segment
large packets. There are a couple of problems:
1. the inner protocol is not set so the gso segment functions for inner
protocol layers are not getting run, and
2 MPLS labels for packets that use the "native" (non-OVS) MPLS code
are not properly accounted for in mpls_gso_segment.
The MPLS GSO code was added for OVS. It is re-using skb_mac_gso_segment
to call the gso segment functions for the higher layer protocols. That
means skb_mac_gso_segment is called twice -- once with the network
protocol set to MPLS and again with the network protocol set to the
inner protocol.
This patch sets the inner skb protocol addressing item 1 above and sets
the network_header and inner_network_header to mark where the MPLS labels
start and end. The MPLS code in OVS is also updated to set the two
network markers.
>From there the MPLS GSO code uses the difference between the network
header and the inner network header to know the size of the MPLS header
that was pushed. It then pulls the MPLS header, resets the mac_len and
protocol for the inner protocol and then calls skb_mac_gso_segment
to segment the skb.
Afterward the inner protocol segmentation is done the skb protocol
is set to mpls for each segment and the network and mac headers
restored.

The conntrack label extension is currently variable-sized, e.g. if
only 2 labels are used by iptables rules then the labels->bits[] array
will only contain one element.
We track size of each label storage area in the 'words' member.
But in nftables and openvswitch we always have to ask for worst-case
since we don't know what bit will be used at configuration time.
As most arches are 64bit we need to allocate 24 bytes in this case:
struct nf_conn_labels {
u8 words; /* 0 1 */
/* XXX 7 bytes hole, try to pack */
long unsigned bits[2]; /* 8 24 */
Make bits a fixed size and drop the words member, it simplifies
the code and only increases memory requirements on x86 when
less than 64bit labels are required.
We still only allocate the extension if its needed.

This patch passes up the skb->len before truncation so that the upcall
receiver knows the original packet size. Potentially this will be used
by sFlow, where OVS translates sFlow config header=N to a sample action,
truncating packet to N byte in kernel datapath. Thus, only N bytes instead
of full-packet size is copied from kernel to userspace, saving the

When using conntrack helpers from OVS, a common configuration is to
perform a lookup without specifying a helper, then go through a
firewalling policy, only to decide to attach a helper afterwards.
In this case, the initial lookup will cause a ct entry to be attached to
the skb, then the later commit with helper should attach the helper and
confirm the connection. However, the helper attachment has been missing.
If the user has enabled automatic helper attachment, then this issue
will be masked as it will be applied in init_conntrack(). It is also
masked if the action is executed from ovs_packet_cmd_execute() as that
will construct a fresh skb.
This patch fixes the issue by making an explicit call to try to assign
the helper if there is a discrepancy between the action's helper and the
current skb->nfct.

5) Move conntrack generation counter out of conntrack pernet structure
since this is only used by the init_ns to allow hash resizing.
6) Use get_random_once() from packet path to collect hash random seed
instead of our compound.
7) Don't disable BH from ____nf_conntrack_find() for statistics,
use NF_CT_STAT_INC_ATOMIC() instead.
8) Fix lookup race during conntrack hash resizing.
9) Introduce clash resolution on conntrack insertion for connectionless
protocol.
Then, Florian's netns rework to get rid of per-netns conntrack table,
thus we use one single table for them all. There was consensus on this
change during the NFWS 2015 and, on top of that, it has recently been
pointed as a source of multiple problems from unpriviledged netns:
11) Use a single conntrack hashtable for all namespaces. Include netns
in object comparisons and make it part of the hash calculation.
Adapt early_drop() to consider netns.
12) Use single expectation and NAT hashtable for all namespaces.
13) Use a single slab cache for all namespaces for conntrack objects.
14) Skip full table scanning from nf_ct_iterate_cleanup() if the pernet
conntrack counter tells us the table is empty (ie. equals zero).
Fixes for nf_tables interval set element handling, support to set
conntrack connlabels and allow set names up to 32 bytes.
15) Parse element flags from element deletion path and pass it up to the
backend set implementation.
16) Allow adjacent intervals in the rbtree set type for dynamic interval
updates.
17) Add support to set connlabel from nf_tables, from Florian Westphal.
18) Allow set names up to 32 bytes in nf_tables.
Several x_tables fixes and updates:
19) Fix incorrect use of IS_ERR_VALUE() in x_tables, original patch
from Andrzej Hajda.
And finally, miscelaneous netfilter updates such as:
20) Disable automatic helper assignment by default. Note this proc knob
was introduced by a900689264 ("netfilter: nf_ct_helper: allow to
disable automatic helper assignment") 4 years ago to start moving
towards explicit conntrack helper configuration via iptables CT
target.
21) Get rid of obsolete and inconsistent debugging instrumentation
in x_tables.
22) Remove unnecessary check for null after ip6_route_output().

Netfilter updates for net-next
The following patchset contains Netfilter updates for your net-next
tree, mostly from Florian Westphal to sort out the lack of sufficient
validation in x_tables and connlabel preparation patches to add
nf_tables support. They are:
1) Ensure we don't go over the ruleset blob boundaries in
mark_source_chains().
2) Validate that target jumps land on an existing xt_entry. This extra
sanitization comes with a performance penalty when loading the ruleset.
3) Introduce xt_check_entry_offsets() and use it from {arp,ip,ip6}tables.
4) Get rid of the smallish check_entry() functions in {arp,ip,ip6}tables.
5) Make sure the minimal possible target size in x_tables.
6) Similar to #3, add xt_compat_check_entry_offsets() for compat code.
7) Check that standard target size is valid.
8) More sanitization to ensure that the target_offset field is correct.
9) Add xt_check_entry_match() to validate that matches are well-formed.
10-12) Three patch to reduce the number of parameters in
translate_compat_table() for {arp,ip,ip6}tables by using a container
structure.
13) No need to return value from xt_compat_match_from_user(), so make
it void.
14) Consolidate translate_table() so it can be used by compat code too.
15) Remove obsolete check for compat code, so we keep consistent with
what was already removed in the native layout code (back in 2007).
16) Get rid of target jump validation from mark_source_chains(),
obsoleted by #2.
17) Introduce xt_copy_counters_from_user() to consolidate counter
copying, and use it from {arp,ip,ip6}tables.
18,22) Get rid of unnecessary explicit inlining in ctnetlink for dump
functions.
19) Move nf_connlabel_match() to xt_connlabel.
20) Skip event notification if connlabel did not change.
21) Update of nf_connlabels_get() to make the upcoming nft connlabel
support easier.
23) Remove spinlock to read protocol state field in conntrack.

nf_connlabel_set() takes the bit number that we would like to set.
nf_connlabels_get() however took the number of bits that we want to
support.
So e.g. nf_connlabels_get(32) support bits 0 to 31, but not 32.
This changes nf_connlabels_get() to take the highest bit that we want
to set.
Callers then don't have to cope with a potential integer wrap
when using nf_connlabels_get(bit + 1) anymore.
Current callers are fine, this change is only to make folloup
nft ct label set support simpler.

which resulted a kernel crash due to the increase ref for save, swap,
wrong ref decrease operations. Reported and fixed by Vishwanath Pai.
2) OVS should call into CT NAT for packets of new expected connections only

3) Resolve kconfig dependencies with new OVS NAT support. From Arnd Bergmann.
4) Early validation of entry->target_offset to make sure it doesn't take us
out from the blob, from Florian Westphal.
5) Again early validation of entry->next_offset to make sure it doesn't take

6) Check that entry->target_offset is always of of sizeof(struct xt_entry)
for unconditional entries, when checking both from check_underflow()
and when checking for loops in mark_source_chains(), again from
Florian.
7) Fix inconsistent behaviour in nfnetlink_queue when
NFQA_CFG_F_FAIL_OPEN is set and netlink_unicast() fails due to buffer
overrun, we have to reinject the packet as the user expects.
8) Enforce nul-terminated table names from getsockopt GET_ENTRIES
requests.
9) Don't assume skb->sk is set from nft_bridge_reject and synproxy,
this fixes a recent update of the code to namespaceify
ip_default_ttl, patch from Liping Zhang.

unpriviledged users and to be honest this interface never received the
attention for this move away from the CAP_NET_ADMIN domain. Florian is

expect a bit more Netfilter fixes in this development cycle than usual.

The openvswitch code has gained support for calling into the
nf-nat-ipv4/ipv6 modules, however those can be loadable modules
in a configuration in which openvswitch is built-in, leading
to link errors:
net/built-in.o: In function `__ovs_ct_lookup':
:(.text+0x2cc2c8): undefined reference to `nf_nat_icmp_reply_translation'
:(.text+0x2cc66c): undefined reference to `nf_nat_icmpv6_reply_translation'
The dependency on (!NF_NAT || NF_NAT) prevents similar issues,
but NF_NAT is set to 'y' if any of the symbols selecting
it are built-in, but the link error happens when any of them
are modular.
A second issue is that even if CONFIG_NF_NAT_IPV6 is built-in,
CONFIG_NF_NAT_IPV4 might be completely disabled. This is unlikely
to be useful in practice, but the driver currently only handles
IPv6 being optional.
This patch improves the Kconfig dependency so that openvswitch
cannot be built-in if either of the two other symbols are set
to 'm', and it replaces the incorrect #ifdef in ovs_ct_nat_execute()
with two "if (IS_ENABLED())" checks that should catch all corner
cases also make the code more readable.
The same #ifdef exists ovs_ct_nat_to_attr(), where it does not
cause a link error, but for consistency I'm changing it the same
way.

OVS should call into CT NAT for packets of new expected connections only
when the conntrack state is persisted with the 'commit' option to the
OVS CT action. The test for this condition is doubly wrong, as the CT
status field is ANDed with the bit number (IPS_EXPECTED_BIT) rather
than the mask (IPS_EXPECTED), and due to the wrong assumption that the
expected bit would apply only for the first (i.e., 'new') packet of a
connection, while in fact the expected bit remains on for the lifetime of
an expected connection. The 'ctinfo' value IP_CT_RELATED derived from
the ct status can be used instead, as it is only ever applicable to
the 'new' packets of the expected connection.

Currently output of MPLS packets on tunnel vports is not allowed by Open
vSwitch. This is because historically encapsulation was done in such a way
that the inner_protocol field of the skb needed to hold the inner protocol
for both MPLS and tunnel encapsulation in order for GSO segmentation to be
performed correctly.
Since b2acd1dc39 ("openvswitch: Use regular GRE net_device instead of
vport") Open vSwitch makes use of lwt to output to tunnel netdevs which
perform encapsulation. As no drivers expose support for MPLS offloads this
means that GSO packets are segmented in software by validate_xmit_skb(),
which is called from __dev_queue_xmit(), before tunnel encapsulation occurs.
This means that the inner protocol of MPLS is no longer needed by the time
encapsulation occurs and the contention on the inner_protocol field of the
skb no longer occurs.
Thus it is now safe to output MPLS to tunnel vports.

Extend OVS conntrack interface to cover NAT. New nested
OVS_CT_ATTR_NAT attribute may be used to include NAT with a CT action.
A bare OVS_CT_ATTR_NAT only mangles existing and expected connections.
If OVS_NAT_ATTR_SRC or OVS_NAT_ATTR_DST is included within the nested
attributes, new (non-committed/non-confirmed) connections are mangled
according to the rest of the nested attributes.

Add a new function ovs_ct_find_existing() to find an existing
conntrack entry for which this packet was already applied to. This is
only to be called when there is evidence that the packet was already
tracked and committed, but we lost the ct reference due to an
userspace upcall.
ovs_ct_find_existing() is called from skb_nfct_cached(), which can now
hide the fact that the ct reference may have been lost due to an
upcall. This allows ovs_ct_commit() to be simplified.

When we want to change a flow using netlink, we have to identify it to
be able to perform a lookup. Both the flow key and unique flow ID
(ufid) are valid identifiers, but we always have to specify the flow
key in the netlink message. When both attributes are there, the ufid
is used. The flow key is used to validate the actions provided by
the userland.
This commit allows to use the ufid without having to provide the flow
key, as it is already done in the netlink 'flow get' and 'flow del'

this flag means we call netlink_capable, which uses the init user ns.
Instead, let's introduce a new flag, GENL_UNS_ADMIN_PERM for operations
which should be allowed inside a user namespace.
The motivation for this is to be able to run openvswitch in unprivileged

Prior to 4.3, openvswitch tunnel vports (vxlan, gre and geneve) could
transmit vxlan packets of any size, constrained only by the ability to
send out the resulting packets. 4.3 introduced netdevs corresponding
to tunnel vports. These netdevs have an MTU, which limits the size of
a packet that can be successfully encapsulated. The default MTU
values are low (1500 or less), which is awkwardly small in the context
of physical networks supporting jumbo frames, and leads to a
conspicuous change in behaviour for userspace.
Instead, set the MTU on openvswitch-created netdevs to be the relevant
maximum (i.e. the maximum IP packet size minus any relevant overhead),
effectively restoring the behaviour prior to 4.3.

It was seen that defective configurations of openvswitch could overwrite
the STACK_END_MAGIC and cause a hard crash of the kernel because of too
many recursions within ovs.
This problem arises due to the high stack usage of openvswitch. The rest

Skb_gso_segment() uses skb control block during segmentation.
This patch adds 32-bytes room for previous control block which
will be copied into all resulting segments.
This patch fixes kernel crash during fragmenting forwarded packets.
Fragmentation requires valid IP CB in skb for clearing ip options.
Also patch removes custom save/restore in ovs code, now it's redundant.

Commit 5b48bb8506c5 ("openvswitch: Fix helper reference leak") fixed a
reference leak on helper objects, but inadvertently introduced a leak on
the ct template.
Previously, ct_info.ct->general.use was initialized to 0 by
nf_ct_tmpl_alloc() and only incremented when ovs_ct_copy_action()
returned successful. If an error occurred while adding the helper or
adding the action to the actions buffer, the __ovs_ct_free_action()
cleanup would use nf_ct_put() to free the entry; However, this relies on
atomic_dec_and_test(ct_info.ct->general.use). This reference must be
incremented first, or nf_ct_put() will never free it.
Fix the issue by acquiring a reference to the template immediately after
allocation.

Netfilter updates for net-next
The following patchset contains the first batch of Netfilter updates for
the upcoming 4.5 kernel. This batch contains userspace netfilter header
compilation fixes, support for packet mangling in nf_tables, the new
tracing infrastructure for nf_tables and cgroup2 support for iptables.
More specifically, they are:
1) Two patches to include dependencies in our netfilter userspace
headers to resolve compilation problems, from Mikko Rapeli.
2) Four comestic cleanup patches for the ebtables codebase, from Ian Morris.
3) Remove duplicate include in the netfilter reject infrastructure,
from Stephen Hemminger.
4) Two patches to simplify the netfilter defragmentation code for IPv6,
patch from Florian Westphal.
5) Fix root ownership of /proc/net netfilter for unpriviledged net
namespaces, from Philip Whineray.
6) Get rid of unused fields in struct nft_pktinfo, from Florian Westphal.
7) Add mangling support to our nf_tables payload expression, from
Patrick McHardy.
8) Introduce a new netlink-based tracing infrastructure for nf_tables,
from Florian Westphal.
9) Change setter functions in nfnetlink_log to be void, from
Rami Rosen.
10) Add netns support to the cttimeout infrastructure.
11) Add cgroup2 support to iptables, from Tejun Heo.
12) Introduce nfnl_dereference_protected() in nfnetlink, from Florian.
13) Add support for mangling pkttype in the nf_tables meta expression,

The previous patch changed nf_ct_frag6_gather() to morph reassembled skb
with the previous one.
This means that the return value is always NULL or the skb argument.
So change it to an err value.
Instead of invoking NF_HOOK recursively with threshold to skip already-called hooks
we can now just return NF_ACCEPT to move on to the next hook except for
-EINPROGRESS (which means skb has been queued for reassembly), in which case we
return NF_STOLEN.

commit 6aafeef03b
("netfilter: push reasm skb through instead of original frag skbs")
changed ipv6 defrag to not use the original skbs anymore.
So rather than keeping the original skbs around just to discard them
afterwards just use the original skbs directly for the fraglist of
the newly assembled skb and remove the extra clone/free operations.
The skb that completes the fragment queue is morphed into a the
reassembled one instead, just like ipv4 defrag.
openvswitch doesn't need any additional skb_morph magic anymore to deal
with this situation so just remove that.
A followup patch can then also remove the NF_HOOK (re)invocation in
the ipv6 netfilter defrag hook.

nf_ct_frag6_gather() makes a clone of each skb passed to it, and if the
reassembly is successful, expects the caller to free all of the original
skbs using nf_ct_frag6_consume_orig(). This call was previously missing,
meaning that the original fragments were never freed (with the exception
of the last fragment to arrive).
Fix this by ensuring that all original fragments except for the last
fragment are freed via nf_ct_frag6_consume_orig(). The last fragment
will be morphed into the head, so it must not be freed yet. Furthermore,
retain the ->next pointer for the head after skb_morph().

"openvswitch: Fix ovs_vport_get_stats()" fixed the export of these stats

When support for megaflows was introduced, OVS needed to start
installing flows with a mask applied to them. Since masking is an
expensive operation, OVS also had an optimization that would only
take the parts of the flow keys that were covered by a non-zero
mask. The values stored in the remaining pieces should not matter
because they are masked out.
While this works fine for the purposes of matching (which must always
look at the mask), serialization to netlink can be problematic. Since
the flow and the mask are serialized separately, the uninitialized
portions of the flow can be encoded with whatever values happen to be
present.
In terms of functionality, this has little effect since these fields
will be masked out by definition. However, it leaks kernel memory to
userspace, which is a potential security vulnerability. It is also
possible that other code paths could look at the masked key and get
uninitialized data, although this does not currently appear to be an
issue in practice.
This removes the mask optimization for flows that are being installed.
This was always intended to be the case as the mask optimizations were
really targetting per-packet flow operations.

Masks were added to OVS flows in a way that was backwards compatible
with userspace programs that did not generate masks. As a result, it is
possible that we may receive flows that do not have a mask and we need
to synthesize one.
Generating a mask requires iterating over attributes and descending into
nested attributes. For each level we need to know the size to generate the
correct mask. We do this with a linked table of attribute types.
Although the logic to handle these nested attributes was there in concept,
there are a number of bugs in practice. Examples include incomplete links
between tables, variable length attributes being treated as nested and
missing sanity checks.

Add support for using conntrack helpers to assist protocol detection.
The new OVS_CT_ATTR_HELPER attribute of the CT action specifies a helper
to be used for this connection. If no helper is specified, then helpers
will be automatically applied as per the sysctl configuration of
net.netfilter.nf_conntrack_helper.
The helper may be specified as part of the conntrack action, eg:
ct(helper=ftp). Initial packets for related connections should be
committed to allow later packets for the flow to be considered
established.
Example ovs-ofctl flows allowing FTP connections from ports 1->2:
in_port=1,tcp,action=ct(helper=ftp,commit),2
in_port=2,tcp,ct_state=-trk,action=ct(recirc)
in_port=2,tcp,ct_state=+trk-new+est,action=1

Expose the kernel connection tracker via OVS. Userspace components can
make use of the CT action to populate the connection state (ct_state)
field for a flow. This state can be subsequently matched.
Exposed connection states are OVS_CS_F_*:
- NEW (0x01) - Beginning of a new connection.
- ESTABLISHED (0x02) - Part of an existing connection.
- RELATED (0x04) - Related to an established connection.
- INVALID (0x20) - Could not track the connection for this packet.
- REPLY_DIR (0x40) - This packet is in the reply direction for the flow.
- TRACKED (0x80) - This packet has been sent through conntrack.
When the CT action is executed by itself, it will send the packet
through the connection tracker and populate the ct_state field with one
or more of the connection state flags above. The CT action will always
set the TRACKED bit.
When the COMMIT flag is passed to the conntrack action, this specifies
that information about the connection should be stored. This allows
subsequent packets for the same (or related) connections to be
correlated with this connection. Sending subsequent packets for the
connection through conntrack allows the connection tracker to consider
the packets as ESTABLISHED, RELATED, and/or REPLY_DIR.
The CT action may optionally take a zone to track the flow within. This
allows connections with the same 5-tuple to be kept logically separate
from connections in other zones. If the zone is specified, then the
"ct_zone" match field will be subsequently populated with the zone id.
IP fragments are handled by transparently assembling them as part of the
CT action. The maximum received unit (MRU) size is tracked so that
refragmentation can occur during output.
