3ca1e326f5 RTC: RK808: add RTC driver for RK808
This is the initial version of the RK808 PMIC. This is a power management
IC for multimedia products. It provides regulators that are able to
supply power to processor cores and other components. The chip provides
other modules including RTC, Clockout.

Add RTC driver for supporting RTC device present inside RK808 PMIC.

8b45bc892e ARM: SoC driver updates for 3.18
These are changes for drivers that are intimately tied to some SoC
and for some reason could not get merged through the respective
 subsystem maintainer tree.

Most of the new code is for the Keystone Navigator driver, which is
new base support that is going to be needed for their hardware
accelerated network driver and other units.

Most of the commits are for moving old code around from at91 and omap
for things that are done in device drivers nowadays.

 - at91: move reset, poweroff, memory and clocksource code into drivers
   directories
 - socfpga: add edac driver (through arm-soc, as requested by Boris)
 - omap: move omap-intc code to drivers/irqchip
 - sunxi: added an RTC driver for sun6i
 - omap: mailbox driver related changes
 - keystone: support for the "Navigator" component
 - versatile: new reboot, led and soc drivers

7efe665903 rtc: Disable EFI rtc for x86
commit da167ad763 ("rtc: ia64: allow other architectures to use EFI
RTC") inadvertently introduced a regression for x86 because we've been
careful not to enable the EFI rtc driver due to the generally buggy
implementations of the time-related EFI runtime services.

In fact, since the above commit was merged we've seen reports of crashes
on 32-bit tablets,

  https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84241#c21

Disable it explicitly for x86 so that we don't give users false hope
that this driver will work - it won't, and your machine is likely to
crash.

9765d2d943 rtc: sun6i: Add sun6i RTC driver
This patch introduces the driver for the RTC in the Allwinner A31 and
A23 SoCs.

Unlike the RTC found in A10/A20 SoCs, which was part of the timer, the
RTC in A31/A23 are a separate hardware block, which also contain a few
controls for the RTC block hardware (a regulator and RTC block GPIO pin
latches), while also having separate interrupts for the alarms.

The hardware is different enough to make a different driver for it.

41c9dbf4ba drivers/rtc/Kconfig: disable RTC_DRV_CMOS on Atari
On ARAnyM (emulating an Atari Falcon, which doesn't have an RTC IRQ, as
the Second Multi Function Peripheral MFP 68901 is available on Atari TT
only), rtc-cmos doesn't work well:

  - The date is of by 32 years (2045 instead of 2013):

    rtc_cmos rtc_cmos: setting system clock to 2045-12-02 10:56:17 UTC
    (2395824977)

  - The hwclock utility doesn't work:

hwclock: ioctl() to /dev/rtc to turn on update interrupts failed
    unexpectedly, errno=5: Input/output error.

As rtc-generic works fine for the RTC part, and nvram works for the NVRAM
part, we'll continue on using that.

rtc hw is based, but this didn't apply to get_rtc_time or set_rtc_time.
This resulted in incorrect values when hwclock(8) gets involved.

Allow the epoch to be set from the kernel command-line, overriding
the autodetection, which is doomed to fail in 2020. Further, by
implementing the rtc ioctl function, we can expose this epoch to
userland.

Elide the alarm functions that RTC_DRV_CMOS implements. This was
highly questionable on Alpha, since the interrupt is used by the
system timer.

e88b815e01 drivers/rtc/rtc-sirfsoc.c: add rtc drivers for CSR SiRFprimaII and SiRFatlasVI
On CSR SiRFprimaII/atlasVI, there is a programmable 16-bit divider
(RTC_DIV) that divides the input 32.768KHz clock to the frequency that
users need (E.g. 1 Hz). The divided real-time clock will be used to
drive a 32-bit counter (RTC_COUNTER) that provides users with the actual
time.

In each cycle of the divided real-time clock, there is a Hertz interrupt
generated to the RISC. Users can also configure an alarm (RTC_ALARM).
When RTC_COUNTER matches the alarm, there will be an alarm interrupt
generated to the RISC.

The system RTC can generate an alarm wake-up signal to notify the power
controller to wake up from power saving mode.

b4f711ee03 time: Revert ALWAYS_USE_PERSISTENT_CLOCK compile time optimizaitons
Kay Sievers noted that the ALWAYS_USE_PERSISTENT_CLOCK config,
which enables some minor compile time optimization to avoid
uncessary code in mostly the suspend/resume path could cause
problems for userland.

In particular, the dependency for RTC_HCTOSYS on
!ALWAYS_USE_PERSISTENT_CLOCK, which avoids setting the time
twice and simplifies suspend/resume, has the side effect
of causing the /sys/class/rtc/rtcN/hctosys flag to always be
zero, and this flag is commonly used by udev to setup the
/dev/rtc symlink to /dev/rtcN, which can cause pain for
older applications.

While the udev rules could use some work to be less fragile,
breaking userland should strongly be avoided. Additionally
the compile time optimizations are fairly minor, and the code
being optimized is likely to be reworked in the future, so
lets revert this change.

05ad717c77 timekeeping: Add CONFIG_HAS_PERSISTENT_CLOCK option
Make the persistent clock check a kernel config option, so that some
platform can explicitely select it, also make CONFIG_RTC_HCTOSYS and
RTC_SYSTOHC depend on its non-existence, which could prevent the
persistent clock and RTC code from doing similar thing twice during
system's init/suspend/resume phases.

If the CONFIG_HAS_PERSISTENT_CLOCK=n, then no change happens for kernel
which still does the persistent clock check in timekeeping_init().

023f333a99 NTP: Add a CONFIG_RTC_SYSTOHC configuration
The purpose of this option is to allow ARM/etc systems that rely on the
class RTC subsystem to have the same kind of automatic NTP based
synchronization that we have on PC platforms. Today ARM does not
implement update_persistent_clock and makes extensive use of the class
RTC system.

When enabled CONFIG_RTC_SYSTOHC will provide a generic
rtc_update_persistent_clock that stores the current time in the RTC and
is intended complement the existing CONFIG_RTC_HCTOSYS option that loads
the RTC at boot.

Like with RTC_HCTOSYS the platform's update_persistent_clock is used
first, if it works. Platforms with mixed class RTC and non-RTC drivers
need to return ENODEV when class RTC should be used. Such an update for
PPC is included in this patch.

Long term, implementations of update_persistent_clock should migrate to
proper class RTC drivers and use CONFIG_RTC_SYSTOHC instead.

Tested on ARM kirkwood and PPC405

62e00cb9a3 rtc: add rtc-driver for HID sensors of type time
This driver makes the time from HID sensors (hubs) which are offering
such available like any other RTC does.

It is necessary that all values like year, month etc, are send as
8bit values (1 byte each) and all of them in 1 report. Also the
spec HUTRR39b doesn't define the range of the year field, we
tread it as 0 - 99 because that's what most RTCs I know about are
offering.

Currently the time can only be read. Setting the time must be done
through sending a report (or a feature). The spec currently doesn't
define how and I'm not sure if I just should define something by myself.

8dc0839510 rtc: kconfig: fix RTC_INTF defaults connected to RTC_CLASS
Commit 6b8029fab6 ("rtc: kconfig: remove unnecessary dependencies")
removed various 'depends on RTC_CLASS' dependencies but also removed a
few 'default RTC_CLASS' statements, which actually changed default
behavior.

This resulted in the various RTC interfaces (sysfs, proc, dev) all being
disabled by default, even when RTC_CLASS is enabled:

   # CONFIG_RTC_INTF_SYSFS is not set
   # CONFIG_RTC_INTF_PROC is not set
   # CONFIG_RTC_INTF_DEV is not set

which is different from previous behavior (all of these where enabled.)

To fix, add back the 'default RTC_CLASS' statments to each of the
RTC_INTF_* options.

I noticed this because some RTC tests started failing on my TI OMAP
platforms because /dev/rtc0 was not present anymore, even though the
driver was present and RTC_CLASS was enabled.

3888c09074 rtc: sa1100: declare irq in resource
Avoid to hard coded irq in rtc-sa1100 driver since we could share
it among arch-sa1100/arch-pxa/arch-mmp.

We still keep hard coded register address since the requirement is
enabling both rtc-sa1100 and rtc-pxa driver. The register addresses
are conflict since they're only two wrappers on the same rtc device.

a0164a574a Revert "RTC: sa1100: support sa1100, pxa and mmp soc families"
This reverts commit 7cea00657d.

The sa1100 cleanups fatally broke the SA1100 RTC driver - the first
hint that something is wrong are these compiler warnings:

drivers/rtc/rtc-sa1100.c:42:1: warning: "RCNR" redefined
In file included from arch/arm/mach-sa1100/include/mach/hardware.h:73,
                 from drivers/rtc/rtc-sa1100.c:35:

drivers/rtc/rtc-sa1100.c:44:1: warning: "RTSR" redefined
arch/arm/mach-sa1100/include/mach/SA-1100.h:879:1: warning: this is the location of the previous definition

arch/arm/mach-sa1100/include/mach/SA-1100.h:888:1: warning: this is the location of the previous definition

and the second problem, which is far more severe, are the different
register layouts, resulting in the wrong registers being read on
SA11x0 platforms. This patch adds:

	#define RCNR           0x00    /* RTC Count Register */
	#define RTAR           0x04    /* RTC Alarm Register */
	#define RTSR           0x08    /* RTC Status Register */
	#define RTTR           0x0c    /* RTC Timer Trim Register */

but the SA11x0 registers are:

	#define RTAR            __REG(0x90010000)  /* RTC Alarm Reg. */
	#define RCNR            __REG(0x90010004)  /* RTC CouNt Reg. */

6e57b1d6a8 RTC: Revert UIE emulation removal
Uwe pointed out that my alarm based UIE emulation is not sufficient

This patch reverts the following commits:

35c86bf66d rtc: Add support for RTCs on Wolfson WM831x devices
The WM831x series of PMICs contain RTC functionality. The hardware
provides a 32 bit counter incrementing at 1Hz together with a per
tick interrupt and an alarm value. For simplicity the driver chooses
to define the epoch for the counter as the Unix epoch - if required
platform data can be used in future to customise this.

When powered on from a completely cold state the RTC reports that it
has not been configured - when this happens an error is returned
when attempting to read the RTC in order to avoid use of values we
know to be invalid.

The hardware also provides security features which mean that it can
ignore attempts to set the RTC time in certain circumstances, most
notably if the RTC is written to too often. These errors are detected
by verifying the written RTC value.

3c2b9075cb rtc: add stand-alone driver for RX8025 chip
Add support for the Epson RX-8025SA/NB RTC chips. It includes support for
alarms, periodic interrupts (1 Hz) and clock precision adjustment.

For clock precision adjustment, the SYSFS file "clock_adjust_ppb" gets
created in "/sys/class/rtc/rtcX/device". It permits to set and get the
clock adjustment in ppb (parts per billion), e.g.:

  # echo -183000 > /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/device/clock_adjust_ppb
  # cat /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/device/clock_adjust_ppb
  -183000

This allows to compensate temperature dependent clock drifts. According
to the RX8025 SA/NB application manual the frequency and temperature
characteristics can be approximated using the following equation:

  df = a * (ut - t)**2

df: Frequency deviation in any temperature
  a : Coefficient = (-35 +-5) * 10**-9
ut: Ultimate temperature in degree = +25 +-5 degree
t : Any temperature in degree

place, platforms can default to leaving the clock disabled rather than
placing it in the always enabled state.

f96411ab73 mfd: rtc-twl4030 driver
This adds a driver for the RTC inside the TWL4030 multi-function device.
It's a fairly basic RTC, with a wake-capable alarm.

Note that many of the pre-release Overo boards now in circulation can't
effectively use this RTC, because of a wiring error that puts its TWL
chip into "secure" mode. (As in "secure yourself against tampering".)
This isn't an issue on other OMAP3 boards now supported in mainline,
such as Beagle and Labrador.

c6d8f400cc rtc: Ramtron FM3130 RTC support
Ramtron FM3130 is a chip with two separate devices inside, RTC clock and
FRAM. This driver provides only RTC functionality.

This chip is met in lots of custom boards with AT91SAMXXXX CPU I work

While it is mostly met on much smaller devices, I think it is great to
have it supported in Linux.

c750090085 rtc: avoid legacy drivers with generic framework
Kconfig tweaks to help reduce RTC configuration bugs, by avoiding
legacy RTC drivers when the generic RTC framework is enabled:

 - If rtc-cmos is selected, disable the legacy rtc driver;

 - When using generic RTC on x86, enable rtc-cmos by default;

 - In the old "chardev RTC" section of Kconfig, add a comment
warning people off these (seven) legacy RTC drivers when
the generic framework is in use.

People can still use the legacy drivers if they want (or need) to.

This doesn't fix the broken dependencies for the legacy "CMOS" RTC driver.
Ideally it would be a full list of platforms where it works, not a partial
list of ones where it won't. Or better yet, it would depend on a
"HAVE_CMOS_RTC" flag defined by various platforms ... surely there's a
Kconfig style guideline lurking there.

4cdf854f7d rtc: at91sam9 RTC support (RTT and/or RTC)
AT91sam9 RTC support, primarily in the form of an RTT-as-RTC driver that was
extracted from 2.6.23-at91 patch and updated:

 - Relies on now-merged platform updates, which associate the RTT
hardware address with each RTT and use the "at91_rtt" name.

 - RTC framework related fixes and cleanups, notably:
    * removed now-needless suspend/resume clock offset logic
    * alarm read/write now respects the "enabled" flag
    * suspend always disables update irqs
    * shutdown (and startup) disables all irqs

 - Misc cleanup:
    * use dev_*() messaging
    * add comments
    * remove globals,
    * ... etc

 - Don't force use of RTT0 and GPBR0. Either resource may need
to be used for other purposes (like NO_HZ support).

 - Update "AT91RM9200 RTC" Kconfig to allow it on SAM9RL chips
(it has both RTT and RTC).

Driver binding uses bus_find_device() to avoid needing any kind of "timer
library" code when there's more than one RTT module. (This timer can be used
as an RTC, to support NO_HZ operation, or potentially for other stuff. The
choice is a per-system policy.)

The RTC "hctosys" mechanism expects that RTC clock will use UTC, not local

(Strictly speaking, the RTC clock should be tracking the POSIX epoch. That's
not worth going into here. Goofing timezones means clocks are wrong by many

(1/N second) IRQs. System wakeup alarms (from suspend-to-RAM) work too.

The battery keeps the RTC active over power off, so once you set clock

fa04e78b2d Driver for the Atmel on-chip RTC on AT32AP700x devices
Tested on the AT32AP7000/ATSTK1000. Driver does only suport time, wake up
and a very simple alarm, because of hardware limitations.

Hardware documentation can be found in the AT32AP7000 data sheet, which can
be downloaded from

http://www.atmel.com/dyn/products/datasheets.asp?family_id=682

From: David Brownell <david-b@pacbell.net>

 - Strike some alarm setup code that's no longer needed.
(This patch seems to have gotten lost somewhere...)

 - Make the driver name (and its module alias) match what
the platform setup code uses, so the driver can bind
   and hotplug.

d815461c7a rtc-rs5c372 becomes a new-style i2c driver
Convert rtc-rs5c372 to be a "new style" I2C driver, and update the
Kconfig text to be more complete..

Verified on an OMAP H4 development platform, along with a board
init patch to declare its rv5c387a device.

Only one defconfig -- powerpc/linkstation -- uses this driver; but
several other platforms use it, just without defconfig support.

Such platforms need to be converted so (a) their I2C adapter driver
supports new-style drivers, and (b) board init code declares this
I2C device.

7ca1d488ff rtc: suspend()/resume() restores system clock
RTC class suspend/resume support, re-initializing the system clock on resume
from the clock used to initialize it at boot time.

 - The reinit-on-resume is hooked to the existing RTC_HCTOSYS config
option, on the grounds that a clock good enough for init must also
   be good enough for re-init.

 - Inlining a version of the code used by ARM, to save and restore the
delta between a selected RTC and the current system wall-clock time.

 - Removes calls to that ARM code from AT91, OMAP1, and S3C RTCs. This
means that systems using those RTCs across suspend/resume will likely
want to change their kernel configs to enable RTC_HCTOSYS.

If HCTOSYS isn't using a second RTC (with battery?), this changes the
system's initial date from Jan 1970 to the epoch this hardware uses:
1998 for AT91, 2000 for OMAP1 (assuming no split power mode), etc.

This goes on top of the patch series removing "struct class_device" usage
from the RTC framework. That's all needed for class suspend()/resume().

7be2c7c96a [PATCH] RTC framework driver for CMOS RTCs
This is an "RTC framework" driver for the "CMOS" RTCs which are standard on
PCs and some other platforms. That's MC146818 compatible silicon.
Advantages of this vs. drivers/char/rtc.c (use one _or_ the other, only
one will be able to claim the RTC irq) include:

 - This leverages both the new RTC framework and the driver model; both
PNPACPI and platform device modes are supported. (A separate patch
creates a platform device on PCs where PNPACPI isn't configured.)

 - It supports common extensions like longer alarms. (A separate patch
exports that information from ACPI through platform_data.)

 - Likewise, system wakeup events use "real driver model support", with
policy control via sysfs "wakeup" attributes and and using normal rtc
ioctls to manage wakeup. (Patch in the works. The ACPI hooks are
known; /proc/acpi/alarm can vanish. Making it work with EFI will
be a minor challenge to someone with e.g. a MiniMac.)

It's not yet been tested on non-x86 systems, without ACPI, or with HPET.
And the RTC framework will surely have teething pains on "mainstream"
PC-based systems (though must embedded Linux systems use it heavily), not
limited to sorting out the "/dev/rtc0" issue (udev easily tweaked). Also,
the ALSA rtctimer code doesn't use the new RTC API.

Otherwise, this should be a no-known-regressions replacement for the old
drivers/char/rtc.c driver, and should help the non-embedded distros (and
the new timekeeping code) start to switch to the framework.

Note also that any systems using "rtc-m48t86" are candidates to switch over
to this more functional driver; the platform data is different, and the way
bytes are read is different, but otherwise those chips should be compatible.

9c0c570576 [PATCH] drivers/acorn/char/pcf8583.[hc] vs. RTC subsystem
A port of the driver for the pcf8583 i2c rtc controller to the generic RTC
framework by Alessandro Zummo. Based on
drivers/acorn/char/{pcf8583.[hc],i2c.c}. Hopefully, acorn can be converted
too to use this driver in the future.

655066c383 [PATCH] RTC: rtc-dev UIE emulation
Import genrtc's RTC UIE emulation (CONFIG_GEN_RTC_X) to rtc-dev driver with
slight adjustments/refinements. This makes UIE-less rtc drivers work
better with programs doing read/poll on /dev/rtc, such as hwclock. This
emulation should not harm rtc drivers with UIE support, since
rtc_dev_ioctl() calls underlaying rtc driver's ioctl() first.

1abb0dc92d [PATCH] "RTC-framework" driver for DS1307 and similar RTC chips
This is an "RTC-framework" driver for DS1307 and similar RTC chips,

It should be a full replacement for the existing ds1337.c driver (using the
older RTC glue), giving a net increase in the number of RTC chips that work
out-of-the-box. There's a whole cluster of RTCs that are very similar, but
the 1337 driver was a bit too picky to work with most of them.

Still no support for RTC alarm IRQs (on chips that support them).

8ae6e163c1 [PATCH] Add driver for ARM AMBA PL031 RTC
Add a driver for the ARM PL031 RTC found on some ARM SOCs. The driver is
fairly trivial as the RTC only provides a read/write and alarm capability.
