Some Chromebooks with Mediatek SoCs have a problem where the firmware
doesn't properly save/restore certain GICR registers. Newer
Chromebooks should fix this issue and we may be able to do firmware
updates for old Chromebooks. At the moment, the only known issue with
these Chromebooks is that we can't enable "pseudo NMIs" since the
priority register can be lost. Enabling "pseudo NMIs" on Chromebooks
with the problematic firmware causes crashes and freezes.
Let's detect devices with this problem and then disable "pseudo NMIs"
on them. We'll detect the problem by looking for the presence of the
"mediatek,broken-save-restore-fw" property in the GIC device tree
node. Any devices with fixed firmware will not have this property.
Our detection plan works because we never bake a Chromebook's device
tree into firmware. Instead, device trees are always bundled with the
kernel. We'll update the device trees of all affected Chromebooks and
then we'll never enable "pseudo NMI" on a kernel that is bundled with
old device trees. When a firmware update is shipped that fixes this
issue it will know to patch the device tree to remove the property.
In order to make this work, the quick detection mechanism of the GICv3
code is extended to be able to look for properties in addition to
looking at "compatible".

The summary of the changes for this pull requests is:
* Song Liu's new struct module_memory replacement
* Nick Alcock's MODULE_LICENSE() removal for non-modules
* My cleanups and enhancements to reduce the areas where we vmalloc
module memory for duplicates, and the respective debug code which
proves the remaining vmalloc pressure comes from userspace.
Most of the changes have been in linux-next for quite some time except
the minor fixes I made to check if a module was already loaded
prior to allocating the final module memory with vmalloc and the
respective debug code it introduces to help clarify the issue. Although
the functional change is small it is rather safe as it can only *help*
reduce vmalloc space for duplicates and is confirmed to fix a bootup
issue with over 400 CPUs with KASAN enabled. I don't expect stable
kernels to pick up that fix as the cleanups would have also had to have
been picked up. Folks on larger CPU systems with modules will want to
just upgrade if vmalloc space has been an issue on bootup.
Given the size of this request, here's some more elaborate details
on this pull request.
The functional change change in this pull request is the very first
patch from Song Liu which replaces the struct module_layout with a new
struct module memory. The old data structure tried to put together all
types of supported module memory types in one data structure, the new
one abstracts the differences in memory types in a module to allow each
one to provide their own set of details. This paves the way in the
future so we can deal with them in a cleaner way. If you look at changes
they also provide a nice cleanup of how we handle these different memory
areas in a module. This change has been in linux-next since before the
merge window opened for v6.3 so to provide more than a full kernel cycle
of testing. It's a good thing as quite a bit of fixes have been found
for it.
Jason Baron then made dynamic debug a first class citizen module user by
using module notifier callbacks to allocate / remove module specific
dynamic debug information.
Nick Alcock has done quite a bit of work cross-tree to remove module
license tags from things which cannot possibly be module at my request
so to:
a) help him with his longer term tooling goals which require a
deterministic evaluation if a piece a symbol code could ever be
part of a module or not. But quite recently it is has been made
clear that tooling is not the only one that would benefit.
Disambiguating symbols also helps efforts such as live patching,
kprobes and BPF, but for other reasons and R&D on this area
is active with no clear solution in sight.
b) help us inch closer to the now generally accepted long term goal
of automating all the MODULE_LICENSE() tags from SPDX license tags
In so far as a) is concerned, although module license tags are a no-op
for non-modules, tools which would want create a mapping of possible
modules can only rely on the module license tag after the commit
8b41fc4454 ("kbuild: create modules.builtin without Makefile.modbuiltin
or tristate.conf"). Nick has been working on this *for years* and
AFAICT I was the only one to suggest two alternatives to this approach
for tooling. The complexity in one of my suggested approaches lies in
that we'd need a possible-obj-m and a could-be-module which would check
if the object being built is part of any kconfig build which could ever
lead to it being part of a module, and if so define a new define
-DPOSSIBLE_MODULE [0]. A more obvious yet theoretical approach I've
suggested would be to have a tristate in kconfig imply the same new
-DPOSSIBLE_MODULE as well but that means getting kconfig symbol names
mapping to modules always, and I don't think that's the case today. I am
not aware of Nick or anyone exploring either of these options. Quite
recently Josh Poimboeuf has pointed out that live patching, kprobes and
BPF would benefit from resolving some part of the disambiguation as
well but for other reasons. The function granularity KASLR (fgkaslr)
patches were mentioned but Joe Lawrence has clarified this effort has
been dropped with no clear solution in sight [1].
In the meantime removing module license tags from code which could never
be modules is welcomed for both objectives mentioned above. Some
developers have also welcomed these changes as it has helped clarify
when a module was never possible and they forgot to clean this up,
and so you'll see quite a bit of Nick's patches in other pull
requests for this merge window. I just picked up the stragglers after
rc3. LWN has good coverage on the motivation behind this work [2] and
the typical cross-tree issues he ran into along the way. The only
concrete blocker issue he ran into was that we should not remove the
MODULE_LICENSE() tags from files which have no SPDX tags yet, even if
they can never be modules. Nick ended up giving up on his efforts due
to having to do this vetting and backlash he ran into from folks who
really did *not understand* the core of the issue nor were providing
any alternative / guidance. I've gone through his changes and dropped
the patches which dropped the module license tags where an SPDX
license tag was missing, it only consisted of 11 drivers. To see
if a pull request deals with a file which lacks SPDX tags you
can just use:
./scripts/spdxcheck.py -f \
$(git diff --name-only commid-id | xargs echo)
You'll see a core module file in this pull request for the above,
but that's not related to his changes. WE just need to add the SPDX
license tag for the kernel/module/kmod.c file in the future but
it demonstrates the effectiveness of the script.
Most of Nick's changes were spread out through different trees,
and I just picked up the slack after rc3 for the last kernel was out.
Those changes have been in linux-next for over two weeks.
The cleanups, debug code I added and final fix I added for modules
were motivated by David Hildenbrand's report of boot failing on
a systems with over 400 CPUs when KASAN was enabled due to running
out of virtual memory space. Although the functional change only
consists of 3 lines in the patch "module: avoid allocation if module is
already present and ready", proving that this was the best we can
do on the modules side took quite a bit of effort and new debug code.
The initial cleanups I did on the modules side of things has been
in linux-next since around rc3 of the last kernel, the actual final
fix for and debug code however have only been in linux-next for about a
week or so but I think it is worth getting that code in for this merge
window as it does help fix / prove / evaluate the issues reported
with larger number of CPUs. Userspace is not yet fixed as it is taking
a bit of time for folks to understand the crux of the issue and find a
proper resolution. Worst come to worst, I have a kludge-of-concept [3]
of how to make kernel_read*() calls for modules unique / converge them,
but I'm currently inclined to just see if userspace can fix this
instead.

larger number of CPUs. Userspace is not yet fixed as it is taking a
bit of time for folks to understand the crux of the issue and find a
proper resolution. Worst come to worst, I have a kludge-of-concept [3]
of how to make kernel_read*() calls for modules unique / converge
them, but I'm currently inclined to just see if userspace can fix this
instead"

Here is the large set of driver core changes for 6.4-rc1.
Once again, a busy development cycle, with lots of changes happening in
the driver core in the quest to be able to move "struct bus" and "struct
class" into read-only memory, a task now complete with these changes.
This will make the future rust interactions with the driver core more
"provably correct" as well as providing more obvious lifetime rules for
all busses and classes in the kernel.
The changes required for this did touch many individual classes and
busses as many callbacks were changed to take const * parameters
instead. All of these changes have been submitted to the various
subsystem maintainers, giving them plenty of time to review, and most of
them actually did so.
Other than those changes, included in here are a small set of other
things:
- kobject logging improvements
- cacheinfo improvements and updates
- obligatory fw_devlink updates and fixes
- documentation updates
- device property cleanups and const * changes
- firwmare loader dependency fixes.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
problems.

- First part of DT header detangling dropping cpu.h from of_device.h

- Refactor of_device.h to be used by bus drivers rather than various
device drivers. This moves non-bus related functions out of

including each other.

Rockchip RK3588/RK3588s GIC600 integration does not support the
sharability feature. Rockchip assigned Erratum ID #3588001 for this
issue.
Note, that the 0x0201743b ID is not Rockchip specific and thus
there is an extra of_machine_is_compatible() check.
The flags are named FORCE_NON_SHAREABLE to be vendor agnostic,
since apparently similar integration design errors exist in other
platforms and they can reuse the same flag.

For dual-bridges scenario, pch_pic_acpi_init() will be called

on valid parent IRQ domain
handle for one or two times
corresponding to parsing
two pchpic entries in MADT

During the first eiointc_acpi_init() calling, the
pch_pic_acpi_init() will be called just one time since only
one valid parent IRQ domain handle will be found for current
eiointc IRQ domain.
During the second eiointc_acpi_init() calling, the
pch_pic_acpi_init() will be called two times since two valid
parent IRQ domain handles will be found. So in pch_pic_acpi_init(),
we must have a reasonable way to prevent from creating second same
pch_pic IRQ domain.
The patch matches gsi base information in created pch_pic IRQ
domains to check if the target domain has been created to avoid the

In eiointc_acpi_init(), a *eiointc* node is passed into
acpi_get_vec_parent() instead of a required *NUMA* node (on some chip
like 3C5000L, a *NUMA* node means a *eiointc* node, but on some chip
like 3C5000, a *NUMA* node contains 4 *eiointc* nodes), and node in
struct acpi_vector_group is essentially a *NUMA* node, which will
lead to no parent matched for passed *eiointc* node. so the patch
adjusts code to use *NUMA* node for parameter node of
acpi_set_vec_parent/acpi_get_vec_parent.

In pch_pic_parse_madt(), a NULL parent pointer will be
returned from acpi_get_vec_parent() for second pch-pic domain
related to second bridge while calling eiointc_acpi_init() at
first time, where the parent of it has not been initialized
yet, and will be initialized during second time calling
eiointc_acpi_init(). So, it's reasonable to return zero so
that failure of acpi_table_parse_madt() will be avoided, or else
acpi_cascade_irqdomain_init() will return and initialization of
followed pch_msi domain will be skipped.
Although it does not matter when pch_msi_parse_madt() returns
-EINVAL if no invalid parent is found, it's also reasonable to
return zero for that.

We add empty irq_eoi() in RISC-V INTC driver for child irqchip
drivers (such as PLIC, SBI IPI, CLINT, APLIC, IMSIC, etc) which
implement chained handlers for parent per-HART local interrupts.
This hels us avoid unnecessary mask/unmask of per-HART local
interrupts at the time of handling interrupts.

Currently, the RISC-V kernel provides arch specific hooks (i.e.
struct riscv_ipi_ops) to register IPI handling methods. The stats
gathering of IPIs is also arch specific in the RISC-V kernel.
Other architectures (such as ARM, ARM64, and MIPS) have moved away
from custom arch specific IPI handling methods. Currently, these
architectures have Linux irqchip drivers providing a range of Linux
IRQ numbers to be used as IPIs and IPI triggering is done using
generic IPI APIs. This approach allows architectures to treat IPIs
as normal Linux IRQs and IPI stats gathering is done by the generic
Linux IRQ subsystem.
We extend the RISC-V IPI handling as-per above approach so that arch
specific IPI handling methods (struct riscv_ipi_ops) can be removed
and the IPI handling is done through the Linux IRQ subsystem.

Various RISC-V drivers (such as SBI IPI, SBI Timer, SBI PMU, and
KVM RISC-V) don't have associated DT node but these drivers need
standard per-CPU (local) interrupts defined by the RISC-V privileged
specification.
We add riscv_get_intc_hwnode() in arch/riscv which allows RISC-V
drivers not having DT node to discover INTC hwnode which in-turn
helps these drivers to map per-CPU (local) interrupts provided
by the INTC driver.

The T241 platform suffers from the T241-FABRIC-4 erratum which causes
unexpected behavior in the GIC when multiple transactions are received
simultaneously from different sources. This hardware issue impacts
NVIDIA server platforms that use more than two T241 chips
interconnected. Each chip has support for 320 {E}SPIs.
This issue occurs when multiple packets from different GICs are
incorrectly interleaved at the target chip. The erratum text below
specifies exactly what can cause multiple transfer packets susceptible
to interleaving and GIC state corruption. GIC state corruption can
lead to a range of problems, including kernel panics, and unexpected
behavior.
>From the erratum text:
"In some cases, inter-socket AXI4 Stream packets with multiple
transfers, may be interleaved by the fabric when presented to ARM
Generic Interrupt Controller. GIC expects all transfers of a packet
to be delivered without any interleaving.
The following GICv3 commands may result in multiple transfer packets
over inter-socket AXI4 Stream interface:
- Register reads from GICD_I* and GICD_N*
- Register writes to 64-bit GICD registers other than GICD_IROUTERn*
- ITS command MOVALL
Multiple commands in GICv4+ utilize multiple transfer packets,
including VMOVP, VMOVI, VMAPP, and 64-bit register accesses."
This issue impacts system configurations with more than 2 sockets,
that require multi-transfer packets to be sent over inter-socket
AXI4 Stream interface between GIC instances on different sockets.
GICv4 cannot be supported. GICv3 SW model can only be supported
with the workaround. Single and Dual socket configurations are not
impacted by this issue and support GICv3 and GICv4."

Writing to the chip alias region of the GICD_In{E} registers except
GICD_ICENABLERn has an equivalent effect as writing to the global
distributor. The SPI interrupt deactivate path is not impacted by
the erratum.
To fix this problem, implement a workaround that ensures read accesses
to the GICD_In{E} registers are directed to the chip that owns the
SPI, and disable GICv4.x features. To simplify code changes, the
gic_configure_irq() function uses the same alias region for both read
and write operations to GICD_ICFGR.

- Provide a virtual cache topology to the guest to avoid
inconsistencies with migration on heterogenous systems. Non secure
software has no practical need to traverse the caches by set/way in
the first place.
- Add support for taking stage-2 access faults in parallel. This was an
accidental omission in the original parallel faults implementation,
but should provide a marginal improvement to machines w/o FEAT_HAFDBS
(such as hardware from the fruit company).
- A preamble to adding support for nested virtualization to KVM,
including vEL2 register state, rudimentary nested exception handling
and masking unsupported features for nested guests.
- Fixes to the PSCI relay that avoid an unexpected host SVE trap when
resuming a CPU when running pKVM.
- VGIC maintenance interrupt support for the AIC
- Improvements to the arch timer emulation, primarily aimed at reducing
the trap overhead of running nested.
- Add CONFIG_USERFAULTFD to the KVM selftests config fragment in the
interest of CI systems.
- Avoid VM-wide stop-the-world operations when a vCPU accesses its own
redistributor.
- Serialize when toggling CPACR_EL1.SMEN to avoid unexpected exceptions
in the host.
- Aesthetic and comment/kerneldoc fixes
- Drop the vestiges of the old Columbia mailing list and add [Oliver]
as co-maintainer
This also drags in arm64's 'for-next/sme2' branch, because both it and
the PSCI relay changes touch the EL2 initialization code.
RISC-V:
- Fix wrong usage of PGDIR_SIZE instead of PUD_SIZE
- Correctly place the guest in S-mode after redirecting a trap to the guest
- Redirect illegal instruction traps to guest
- SBI PMU support for guest
s390:
- Two patches sorting out confusion between virtual and physical
addresses, which currently are the same on s390.
- A new ioctl that performs cmpxchg on guest memory
- A few fixes
x86:
- Change tdp_mmu to a read-only parameter
- Separate TDP and shadow MMU page fault paths
- Enable Hyper-V invariant TSC control
- Fix a variety of APICv and AVIC bugs, some of them real-world,
some of them affecting architecurally legal but unlikely to
happen in practice
- Mark APIC timer as expired if its in one-shot mode and the count
underflows while the vCPU task was being migrated
- Advertise support for Intel's new fast REP string features
- Fix a double-shootdown issue in the emergency reboot code
- Ensure GIF=1 and disable SVM during an emergency reboot, i.e. give SVM
similar treatment to VMX
- Update Xen's TSC info CPUID sub-leaves as appropriate
- Add support for Hyper-V's extended hypercalls, where "support" at this
point is just forwarding the hypercalls to userspace
- Clean up the kvm->lock vs. kvm->srcu sequences when updating the PMU and
MSR filters
- One-off fixes and cleanups
- Fix and cleanup the range-based TLB flushing code, used when KVM is
running on Hyper-V
- Add support for filtering PMU events using a mask. If userspace
wants to restrict heavily what events the guest can use, it can now
do so without needing an absurd number of filter entries
- Clean up KVM's handling of "PMU MSRs to save", especially when vPMU
support is disabled
- Add PEBS support for Intel Sapphire Rapids
- Fix a mostly benign overflow bug in SEV's send|receive_update_data()
- Move several SVM-specific flags into vcpu_svm
x86 Intel:
- Handle NMI VM-Exits before leaving the noinstr region
- A few trivial cleanups in the VM-Enter flows
- Stop enabling VMFUNC for L1 purely to document that KVM doesn't support
EPTP switching (or any other VM function) for L1
- Fix a crash when using eVMCS's enlighted MSR bitmaps
Generic:
- Clean up the hardware enable and initialization flow, which was
scattered around multiple arch-specific hooks. Instead, just
let the arch code call into generic code. Both x86 and ARM should
benefit from not having to fight common KVM code's notion of how
to do initialization.
- Account allocations in generic kvm_arch_alloc_vm()
- Fix a memory leak if coalesced MMIO unregistration fails
selftests:
- On x86, cache the CPU vendor (AMD vs. Intel) and use the info to emit
the correct hypercall instruction instead of relying on KVM to patch
in VMMCALL
- Use TAP interface for kvm_binary_stats_test and tsc_msrs_test

Here is the large set of driver core changes for 6.3-rc1.
There's a lot of changes this development cycle, most of the work falls
into two different categories:
- fw_devlink fixes and updates. This has gone through numerous review
cycles and lots of review and testing by lots of different devices.
Hopefully all should be good now, and Saravana will be keeping a
watch for any potential regression on odd embedded systems.
- driver core changes to work to make struct bus_type able to be moved
into read-only memory (i.e. const) The recent work with Rust has
pointed out a number of areas in the driver core where we are
passing around and working with structures that really do not have
to be dynamic at all, and they should be able to be read-only making
things safer overall. This is the contuation of that work (started
last release with kobject changes) in moving struct bus_type to be
constant. We didn't quite make it for this release, but the
remaining patches will be finished up for the release after this
one, but the groundwork has been laid for this effort.
Other than that we have in here:
- debugfs memory leak fixes in some subsystems
- error path cleanups and fixes for some never-able-to-be-hit
codepaths.
- cacheinfo rework and fixes
- Other tiny fixes, full details are in the shortlog
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
problems.

- Support for arm64 SME 2 and 2.1. SME2 introduces a new 512-bit
architectural register (ZT0, for the look-up table feature) that Linux

- Include TPIDR2 in the signal context and add the corresponding
kselftests.
- Perf updates: Arm SPEv1.2 support, HiSilicon uncore PMU updates, ACPI
support to the Marvell DDR and TAD PMU drivers, reset DTM_PMU_CONFIG

- Support for DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_CALL_OPS on arm64.
- Permit EFI boot with MMU and caches on. Instead of cleaning the entire
loaded kernel image to the PoC and disabling the MMU and caches before
branching to the kernel bare metal entry point, leave the MMU and
caches enabled and rely on EFI's cacheable 1:1 mapping of all of
system RAM to populate the initial page tables.
- Expose the AArch32 (compat) ELF_HWCAP features to user in an arm64
kernel (the arm32 kernel only defines the values).
- Harden the arm64 shadow call stack pointer handling: stash the shadow
stack pointer in the task struct on interrupt, load it directly from
this structure.
- Signal handling cleanups to remove redundant validation of size
information and avoid reading the same data from userspace twice.
- Refactor the hwcap macros to make use of the automatically generated
ID registers. It should make new hwcaps writing less error prone.
- Further arm64 sysreg conversion and some fixes.
- arm64 kselftest fixes and improvements.
- Pointer authentication cleanups: don't sign leaf functions, unify
asm-arch manipulation.
- Pseudo-NMI code generation optimisations.
- Minor fixes for SME and TPIDR2 handling.
- Miscellaneous updates: ARCH_FORCE_MAX_ORDER is now selectable, replace
strtobool() to kstrtobool() in the cpufeature.c code, apply dynamic
shadow call stack in two passes, intercept pfn changes in set_pte_at()
without the required break-before-make sequence, attempt to dump all
instructions on unhandled kernel faults.

Merge tag 'arm64-upstream' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm64/linux
Pull arm64 updates from Catalin Marinas:
- Support for arm64 SME 2 and 2.1. SME2 introduces a new 512-bit
architectural register (ZT0, for the look-up table feature) that
Linux needs to save/restore
- Include TPIDR2 in the signal context and add the corresponding
kselftests
- Perf updates: Arm SPEv1.2 support, HiSilicon uncore PMU updates, ACPI
support to the Marvell DDR and TAD PMU drivers, reset DTM_PMU_CONFIG
(ARM CMN) at probe time
- Support for DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_CALL_OPS on arm64
- Permit EFI boot with MMU and caches on. Instead of cleaning the
entire loaded kernel image to the PoC and disabling the MMU and
caches before branching to the kernel bare metal entry point, leave
the MMU and caches enabled and rely on EFI's cacheable 1:1 mapping of
all of system RAM to populate the initial page tables
- Expose the AArch32 (compat) ELF_HWCAP features to user in an arm64
kernel (the arm32 kernel only defines the values)
- Harden the arm64 shadow call stack pointer handling: stash the shadow
stack pointer in the task struct on interrupt, load it directly from
this structure
- Signal handling cleanups to remove redundant validation of size
information and avoid reading the same data from userspace twice
- Refactor the hwcap macros to make use of the automatically generated
ID registers. It should make new hwcaps writing less error prone
- Further arm64 sysreg conversion and some fixes
- arm64 kselftest fixes and improvements
- Pointer authentication cleanups: don't sign leaf functions, unify
asm-arch manipulation
- Pseudo-NMI code generation optimisations
- Minor fixes for SME and TPIDR2 handling
- Miscellaneous updates: ARCH_FORCE_MAX_ORDER is now selectable,
replace strtobool() to kstrtobool() in the cpufeature.c code, apply
dynamic shadow call stack in two passes, intercept pfn changes in
set_pte_at() without the required break-before-make sequence, attempt
to dump all instructions on unhandled kernel faults

We currently allocate the vgic maintenance interrupt by calling into
the low-level irqdomain code. Not only this is unnecessary, but this
is also pretty wrong: we end-up skipping a bunch of irqdesc state
setup
A simple "cat /proc/interrupt" shows how wrong we are, as the
interrupt appears as "Edge" instead of "Level".
Instead, just call the standard irq_create_fwspec_mapping(), which
is the right tool for the job. Duh.

When Priority Mask Hint Enable (PMHE) == 0b1, the GIC may use the PMR
value to determine whether to signal an IRQ to a PE, and consequently
after a change to the PMR value, a DSB SY may be required to ensure that
interrupts are signalled to a CPU in finite time. When PMHE == 0b0,
interrupts are always signalled to the relevant PE, and all masking
occurs locally, without requiring a DSB SY.
Since commit:
f226650494 ("arm64: Relax ICC_PMR_EL1 accesses when ICC_CTLR_EL1.PMHE is clear")
... we handle this dynamically: in most cases a static key is used to
determine whether to issue a DSB SY, but the entry code must read from
ICC_CTLR_EL1 as static keys aren't accessible from plain assembly.
It would be much nicer to use an alternative instruction sequence for
the DSB, as this would avoid the need to read from ICC_CTLR_EL1 in the
entry code, and for most other code this will result in simpler code
generation with fewer instructions and fewer branches.
This patch adds a new ARM64_HAS_GIC_PRIO_RELAXED_SYNC cpucap which is
only set when ICC_CTLR_EL1.PMHE == 0b0 (and GIC priority masking is in
use). This allows us to replace the existing users of the
`gic_pmr_sync` static key with alternative sequences which default to a
DSB SY and are relaxed to a NOP when PMHE is not in use.
The entry assembly management of the PMR is slightly restructured to use
a branch (rather than multiple NOPs) when priority masking is not in
use. This is more in keeping with other alternatives in the entry
assembly, and permits the use of a separate alternatives for the
PMHE-dependent DSB SY (and removal of the conditional branch this
currently requires). For consistency I've adjusted both the save and
restore paths.
According to bloat-o-meter, when building defconfig +
CONFIG_ARM64_PSEUDO_NMI=y this shrinks the kernel text by ~4KiB:
| add/remove: 4/2 grow/shrink: 42/310 up/down: 332/-5032 (-4700)
The resulting vmlinux is ~66KiB smaller, though the resulting Image size
is unchanged due to padding and alignment:
| [mark@lakrids:~/src/linux]% ls -al vmlinux-*
| -rwxr-xr-x 1 mark mark 137508344 Jan 17 14:11 vmlinux-after
| -rwxr-xr-x 1 mark mark 137575440 Jan 17 13:49 vmlinux-before

Prior to this patch we did not verify the state of ICC_CTLR_EL1.PMHE on
secondary CPUs. As of this patch this is verified by the cpufeature code
when using GIC priority masking (i.e. when using pseudo-NMIs).
Note that since commit:
7e3a57fa6c ("arm64: Document ICC_CTLR_EL3.PMHE setting requirements")
... Documentation/arm64/booting.rst specifies:
| - ICC_CTLR_EL3.PMHE (bit 6) must be set to the same value across
| all CPUs the kernel is executing on, and must stay constant
| for the lifetime of the kernel.
... so that should not adversely affect any compliant systems, and as
we'll only check for the absense of PMHE when using pseudo-NMIs, this
will only fire when such mismatch will adversely affect the system.

Subsequent patches will add more GIC-related cpucaps. When we do so, it
would be nice to give them a consistent HAS_GIC_* prefix.
In preparation for doing so, this patch renames the existing
ARM64_HAS_SYSREG_GIC_CPUIF cap to ARM64_HAS_GIC_CPUIF_SYSREGS.
The 'CPUIF_SYSREGS' suffix is chosen so that this will be ordered ahead
of other ARM64_HAS_GIC_* definitions in subsequent patches.
The cpucaps file was hand-modified; all other changes were scripted
with:
find . -type f -name '*.[chS]' -print0 | \
xargs -0 sed -i
's/ARM64_HAS_SYSREG_GIC_CPUIF/ARM64_HAS_GIC_CPUIF_SYSREGS/'

The SiFive PLIC driver is used by all current implementations, including
those that do not have a SiFive PLIC. The current driver supports more
than just SiFive PLICs at present and, where possible, future PLIC
implementations will also use this driver. As every supported RISC-V SoC
selects the driver directly in Kconfig.socs there's no point in exposing
this kconfig option to users.
The Kconfig help text, in its current form, is misleading. There's no
point doing anything about that though, as it will no longer be user

irq_domain::dev is a misnomer as it's usually the rule that a device
pointer points to something which is directly related to the instance.
irq_domain::dev can point to some other device for power management to
ensure that this underlying device is not powered down when an interrupt is
allocated.
The upcoming per device MSI domains really require a pointer to the device
which instantiated the irq domain and not to some random other device which
is required for power management down the chain.
Rename irq_domain::dev to irq_domain::pm_dev and fixup the few sites which
use that pointer.
Conversion was done with the help of coccinelle.

In preparation to add support for new SoCs having a different

offsets and move the definitions for the same to a u32 array;
Selecting the right register offsets array is done by adding an
of_device_id array containing all of the currently supported
compatible strings pointing to the "v1" offsets array (as data):
since no devicetree declares the `mediatek,mtk-cirq` compatible
without a SoC-specific one, it wasn't necessary to provide any

Since commit 0166dc11be ("of: make CONFIG_OF user selectable"), it
is possible to test-build any driver which depends on OF on any
architecture by explicitly selecting OF. Therefore depending on
COMPILE_TEST as an alternative is no longer needed.
It is actually better to always build such drivers with OF enabled,
so that the test builds are closer to how each driver will actually be
built on its intended target. Building them without OF may not test
much as the compiler will optimize out potentially large parts of the
code. In the worst case, this could even pop false positive warnings.
Dropping COMPILE_TEST here improves the quality of our testing and
avoids wasting time on non-existent issues.

In DT path of translate callback, if fwspec->param_count==1
and of_node is non-null, fwspec->param[1] will be accessed,
which is introduced from previous commit bcdd75c596
(irqchip/loongson-pch-pic: Add ACPI init support).
Before the patch, for non-null of_node, translate callback
(use irq_domain_translate_twocell()) will return -EINVAL if
fwspec->param_count < 2, so the check in the patch is added.

The irqchip->irq_set_type method is called by __irq_set_trigger() under
the desc->lock raw spinlock.
The ls-extirq implementation, ls_extirq_irq_set_type(), uses an MMIO
regmap created by of_syscon_register(), which uses plain spinlocks
(the kind that are sleepable on RT).
Therefore, this is an invalid locking scheme for which we get a kernel
splat stating just that ("[ BUG: Invalid wait context ]"), because the
context in which the plain spinlock may sleep is atomic due to the raw
spinlock. We need to go raw spinlocks all the way.
Make this driver ioremap its INTPCR register on its own, and stop
relying on syscon to provide a regmap.

The interrupt-map property for "realtek,rtl-intc" has been deprecated in
favor of a list of parent interrupts. Drop the open-coded parser for
interrupt-map, and use the first parent interrupt instead. If no parent
was provided, the driver will assume that this is the first hardware
interrupt of the SoC's MIPS CPU for compatibility with the legacy binding.
All SoC interrupts were treated equally, independent of which output
they were actually routed to. This means the driver might as well route
all interrupts to the first output, and achieve the same behaviour.
Without the interrupt-map property, interrupt usage information is no
longer available at initialisation. Routing setup will now happen later,
when a hardware interrupt is mapped by the subsystem.

LoongArch irqchips have a fixed hierarchy which currently can't be
described by ACPI tables, so upstream irqchip drivers call downstream
irqchip drivers' initialization directly. As a result, the top level
(CPU-level) irqchip driver should explicitly select downstream drivers
to avoid build errors.

Follow the pattern established in commit cba4235e60 ("genirq: Remove
mask argument from setup_affinity()") and co to overcome this issue by
defining a static struct cpumask and protecting it by a raw spinlock.
Since its_select_cpu() can be executed with IRQs enabled or disabled,
enforce that the cpumask computation is done with interrupts disabled.

only a couple more public interfaces left pertaining to MSI integration.
Since these depend on the main IOMMU API header anyway, move their

The recently merged LoongArch drivers paper over the lack of
topology information by creating a bunch of fwnodes for the
irqchips. So far, so good.
However, irq_domain_alloc_fwnode() is supposed to take a PA, and
not a kernel VA blindly cast as a PA, potentially disclosing
kernel VAs to userspace. In some other cases, even NULL is used
as the PA, which is entertaining.
Fix this by using the actual PA of the block when available,
and switch to a named fwnode in the other cases.

For LoongArch, ACPI_IRQ_MODEL_LPIC is introduced, and then the
callback acpi_get_gsi_domain_id and acpi_gsi_to_irq_fallback are
implemented.
The acpi_get_gsi_domain_id callback returns related fwnode handle
of irqdomain for different GSI range.
The acpi_gsi_to_irq_fallback will create new mapping for gsi when
the mapping of it is not found.

LoongArch CPUINTC stands for CSR.ECFG/CSR.ESTAT and related interrupt
controller that described in Section 7.4 of "LoongArch Reference Manual,
Vol 1". For more information please refer Documentation/loongarch/irq-
chip-model.rst.
LoongArch CPUINTC has 13 interrupt sources: SWI0~1, HWI0~7, IPI, TI
(Timer) and PCOV (PMC). IRQ mappings of HWI0~7 are configurable (can be
created from DT/ACPI), but IPI, TI (Timer) and PCOV (PMC) are hardcoded
bits, so we expose the fwnode_handle to map them, and get mapped irq
by irq_create_mapping when using them.

EIOINTC stands for "Extended I/O Interrupts" that described in Section
11.2 of "Loongson 3A5000 Processor Reference Manual". For more
information please refer Documentation/loongarch/irq-chip-model.rst.
Loongson-3A5000 has 4 cores per NUMA node, and each NUMA node has an
EIOINTC; while Loongson-3C5000 has 16 cores per NUMA node, and each NUMA
node has 4 EIOINTCs. In other words, 16 cores of one NUMA node in
Loongson-3C5000 are organized in 4 groups, each group connects to an
EIOINTC. We call the "group" here as an EIOINTC node, so each EIOINTC
node always includes 4 cores (both in Loongson-3A5000 and Loongson-
3C5000).

In an unfortunate departure from the ACPI spec, the LoongArch
architecture split its GSI space across multiple interrupt
controllers.
In order to be able to reuse the core code and prevent
architectures from reinventing an already square wheel, offer
the arch code the ability to register a dispatcher function
that will return the domain fwnode for a given GSI.
The ARM GIC drivers are updated to support this (with a single
domain, as intended).
